Flash loading in Firefox

Hi all,
This is strange problem and would appreciate any help I can
get. I've made a flash movie and it works well on all browsers on
my local machine. When I put it on the server, it somehow will not
load on Firefox. Works well on Internet Explorer. I've checked the
permissions of the file.
Here's the code I used:
<object
classid='clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000' codebase='
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0'
width='510' height='100' id='linstead_banner' align='middle'>
<param name='allowScriptAccess' value='sameDomain' />
<param name='movie' value='images/linstead_banner.swf'
/>
<param name='quality' value='high' />
<param name='wmode' value='transparent' />
<embed src='images/linstead_banner.swf' quality='high'
wmode='transparent' width='510' height='100' name='linstead_banner'
align='middle' allowScriptAccess='sameDomain'
type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='
http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer'
/>
</object>
What makes this weirder is when I tried embeding some
existing flash movies from the server into my page, it works fine.
Many thanks in advance.
CT

Just found the problem, got a hint from the firefox forums.
It was AdBlock's fault. It filtered all files with "_banner" out.
Darn it wasted the whole afternoon.
Thanks for looking anyway.

  • Flash fails to load into Firefox.  Why?

    I have tried too many times to load the Flash player into firefox (3.6.6 on Windows NT (SP3), 32 bit).
    Flash does work on IE, but never on Firefox.
    I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. No joy.
    It does not matter if Firefox is running or not why I try to load Flash.
    It may be a clue that the automatic download does not start.
    Instead I have downloaded install_flash_player_ax.exe and run that program.
    If goes to 100% and then says "DONE"
    I downloaded the Adobe Reader and that works fine.
    It is a bit frustrating that the help pages suggest in several places
    that I upload Flash in order to get help uploading flash.
    Among my attempts to get a clean Adobe environment on the machine,
    I tried to remove the Adobe Download Manager. It failed with the message:
        Error loading C:\Program File\NOS\bin\getPlus_helper.dll
    Is this a problem for loading Flash?
    How can I get the named file? (There is no Program Files\NOS directory.)

    My anti-virus is AVG free 9.0.839. It has a firewall.

    Hello David.
    Go into ''Tools > Options > General > Startup:When Firefox starts:'' and configure it as you want (probably to show your home page?). This is the very first option that appears in the options screen, but I understand that it may not be very easy to find. Firefox 4 will not include any redesign to the options screen (except possibly it appearing in a tab, rather than in a popup), but you may interested to know that there are plans to redesign the options screen for versions after Firefox 4, to make it easier to use. If you want to know more about the redesign, just ask.
    Anyway, if that doesn't help (it probably does, but just in case), it's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
    Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
    If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.

  • Flash loading very slow in IE 9 with latest updates

    Dear Members
    Hello to all members myself is Kaustav Banerjee from India and I am into a manufacturing business. Recently I have developed our company's website through a professional website designing company but unfortunately I am having serious issues with Flash in IE 9.
    Let me tell you the details
    Flash version 11.1.102.55 ( The latest version )
    IE 9  version 9.0.8112.16421 ( The latest version)
    Our website  - www.ideasincrafts.com
    OS Version ( WIN 7 32 bit )
    The problem I am having is the website takes very long time to load the flash animation and when somebody opens the home page in IE 9 the user only looks at a flash placeholder with borders. Sometimes the flash loads and sometime it doesn't. Also when the user clicks on the links of the website the flash loading procedure starts again and its quite frustrating.
    The weird thing is the flash displays properly on the other browsers like Firefox and Google chrome.
    I really hope you members can guide us through this issue as the web designing company I am working with doesn't have a clue at all why this is happening.
    I am attaching the image of the problem.
    Thanks with best regards
    Kaustav Banerjee

    Farmville will not load using Firefox, but it will with IE, for over a week now. I have cleared the cache and cookies multiple times, updated flash player, did a virus and malware scan, allowed java script, allowed mozilla in the Windows firewall, contacted Zynga multiple times, and yet Farmville still will not load using Firefox, my main and preferred browser. I'm very frustrated and want this fixed.

    Thanks for the advice cor-el, but if you would read the info I posted, I already did that, SEVERAL TIMES. That's not the solution unfortunately.

    Hello,
    Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
    You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
    *Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
    *In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
    *In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
    *Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
    Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
    Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Videos will not load in Firefox only. Have reinstalled, restored, etc.

    Videos (from YouTube, Facebook, websites, etc.) will not load in Firefox. I've tried reinstalling Firefox, restoring all settings to default, disabling all addons, extensions, etc. When I try to load a video, a dark rectangle appears where the video should and my cursor just shakes. In Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc. the videos load and play with no problems, no hesitation, so it must be some setting or some bad file with Firefox, but I feel like I've tried everything.
    I'm using Windows 7 on an HP laptop. I've checked my Firefox settings against those on my desktop PC and can find no variances. This problem is driving me mad, so please help.....
    Thanks.

  • Fash Images will not load with Firefox

    Currently Flash images will not auto load with Firefox on my mac 10.4. All flash images show with an arrow I must click to make them appear every time I visit a page.
    I do have the most updated version of Flash (10.2.152.33). I have checked their site for all troubleshooting possibilities as well as the FF forum & nothing has made these images auto load. I do have load Images automatically in my Preferences: Content. This is only happening with Firefox & not all browsers.
    I do remember having to add some Security: Install Add-On Exceptions a few updates back in FF back when I had this problem. Adding them fixed the problem, however the next update made the issue reoccur. I've looked for additional exceptions & possibilities to include & found nothing. My current list of add on exceptions include: addons.mozilla.org, getpersonas.com, & update.mozilla.org. Removing these does not fix the problem & re-entering them does not fix the problem. All flash images still show as arrows that must be clicked to load to view for my Firefox browser only. This does not occur in any other browser.

    alright. I've found that Firefox has a Flashblock setting & I have found a way to disable it if I customize & add an icon to my toolbar however I would like to learn how to change that setting without having to add that icon. Where in the settings does it allow me to change/adjust the flashblock?

  • Why won't images load on firefox?

    I have a macbook from 2009. Lately images do not load on Firefox or Safari. Sometimes streaming videos do not work either. It's been fine before so I don't understand why all of a sudden, it's not working. Can anyone give me suggestions?

    When I started in "Safe Mode" Bing images appear.
    So next I:
    Turned off hardware acceleration. No change.
    Was already running default theme.
    Disabled all Plugins - No change
    Disabled all Extensions - CHANGE!!
    Now imagines are showing in Bing.
    You are brilliant!! It turned out to be '''HTTPS-Everywhere 3.2.3''' not allowing Bing to show images. Wow! Thank you so much.
    I have no idea if you can help with this, but is it possible for you to tell me if I need all these Plugins? I don't even know what some of them are or how they got there:
    3.0.72.0 (is there 2 times)
    Google Update 1.3.21.149
    RealDownloader Plugin 1.3.2.28

    Shockwave Flash 11.7.700.224
    Windows Live Photo Gallery 15.4.3555.308
    At the moment they are all disabled. Will I get notification that such and such Plugin is needed to view this?
    You guys rock. I never expected such prompt and helpful info. Thanks a million!!!

  • Flash content makes Firefox to freeze/crash

    Hi Team,
    I have posted my problem a few days ago as a comment (an answer) to the "flash plugin" post from "cj_gadget". But I have got no answer, probably because the "flash plugin" post was labelled as "solved".
    So I now post my problem as a new question, and since I have a Macintosh configuration while "cj_gadget" (and many others) was using a Windows PC, the solution may be different!
    After a long period without using it, my iMac (running with Mac OS X 10.6.8) has been recently updated with the most recent versions of Firefox (25.0) and Flash Player & Plugin (11.9.900.117). The result is that Firefox crashes (freezes) on every page with Flash content. For other reasons, I have to stay with Mac OS 10.6.8 without upgrading to more recent OS versions. I have looked through Firefox and Adobe Flash Player help pages, as well as through many posts on this forum without finding an effective solution.
    Following some of these posts, I have unchecked (in Firefox > Preferences > Advanced) the use of hardware graphic accelerator. Many posts advise to do the same for Flash Player with a right click on the video frame, but this is NOT possible since Firefox freezes immediately as all Flash video start automatically when the page is loaded.
    I have also checked that a HTML5 video displays correctly as for : "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTl3U6aSd2w&html5=True" while "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTl3U6aSd2w" stucks Firefox. This Firefox freezing problem is general for all pages with Flash content (that is for a large fraction of the Web!) and NOT limited to Youtube which was just used here as an example.
    Some more information : RealPlayer was not present on this computer when the problem appeared. If I disable the Flash pluging in Firefox, it does nor freeze, but of course does not display the video. Safari (version 5.1.10 - ok for Apple software update) works fine with Flash content.
    I have sent many hours on this problem without progress and would strongly appreciate any help or even better a solution !

    Hi, jpdemers , and thanks for your advices.
    I have been travelling for some time and was not in position to make any new test for about two weeks (the affected machine is an iMac at home).
    Today I have uninstalled Firefox using AppCleaner, as well as Flash Player using Adobe uninstall_flash_player_osx.dmg ; and I have then installed both of them from scratch.
    Unfortunately the problem is still there :-(
    I just notice that I forgot to reboot the iMac (twice) as you said. I believe it may not be so important, but I will repeat the cycle with the reboots included (early next year now !).
    I will keep you updated on the issue, and I hope I will not have to reinstall the system. I have the install discs, but this may be an heavy burden...
    In the meanwhile, I wish you an happy new year !

    Below is one example of a website (in the bottom of the blue right bar) where there is a blank/white space instead of a feed. This is happening on multiple sites... in fact I cannot find an example of where the FB activity feed is working properly in Firefox.

    I have a Flash slide show on the home page of my website that has stopped working in FireFox 8.01. The Flash movie plays fine in other browsers and on PCs running FireFox, but not on either my MacBook or iMac running FireFox 8.01.
    Works fine on my Brother's Mac running Firefox. But not on my 2 machines. VERY strange. I have reinstalled everything I can think of.
