Flash movie acts differently on different browsers

hi
i have created an online calendar, you can see it on
this
link
this application uses php as well which is called through the
actionscript
it works fine on firefox browsers, and some versions of IE,
the version i have is explorer 7 (which i really dont like), and it
doesnt work well at all. dont know if it works on safari or other
browsers, i havent checked it out yet
(the main problem is trying to write more than one message,
it isnt displayed on the messageboard on IE)
does anyone have an idea what the problem could be?
also if someone sees any problems on different browsers i
would like to know
thanks

"and it doesnt work well at all."
Is there sometime more specific to describe what is the
problem?

  • Flash movie looks different in some IE8 browsers

    Hi All,
I have a website http://www.pestcontrolonline.com which looks fine in  firefox, safari etc, but in some versions of IE 8 or 9 the flash movie looks wrong or doesn't display.  For example the insect guide vertical scroller on the right hand side of the page goes out of alignment with the actual scroller scrolling out the top of the back ground image.
Also on the main page beneath the flash movie that shows the special offers is another flash movie that segments and rotates the image, on some browsers this doesn't show at all.
If the flash movies didn't show in any version of IE then i would assume that there was a problem cross browser wise, but in our office it shows on virtually all of our computers fine, except for two and all computers run the same browser version and connect to the internet via our company server.  I have tried several things including re inserting the flash movies, but nothing really changes.
Any ideas or suggestions would be gratefully recieved.
    Thanks
    Lee

Altruistic, what happens when you click No? Does the error appear?
I ran the IE8 debugger to see if i could investigate further and I actually did not see the same thing you did.
I ran into problems with 3 things:
    jquery.min.js
    SpryData.js
It's reporting that certain variables are null or not objects
    tabsandaccordions.js
says "object does not support this property or method", referring to this:
         if($.cookie('/careercenter/menustate')) {           $('#menu').accordion('activate', $('#' + $.cookie('/careercenter/menustate')).parent('h3'));      };
Again, thanks a lot for pointing me in the right direction. I'm really not sure what is going on. Is this something other than a compatibility issue?

  • Flash movie looks different in mac vs pc

I built a flash movie to display products. There are 3 different key frames. Two of them look the same on both mac and pc. Only one looks completely different.
It works on IE7, IE8, Firefox, and Chrome on PC. Everything looks exactly how it should.
I tested with Chrome, Safari, and Firefox on a Mac and it looks totall different.
I am using swfobject.js to embed the file and I updated flash to the most recent version on both machines.
With a windows computer, it looks like this:
On a Mac, it looks like this:
The two New Arrivals are encroaching on the image and there is no product name or item numbers.
Any thoughts on why this is happening?

Usually when a browser has an issue playing a Flash file it is due to the embedding code that is used in the html page.  Can you compare your code to another page's code to see what differences there are?  You should let Flash generate the embedding code rather than using some other software to do it if that is what you did.  Just have Flash publkish and html page, test that page in your various browsers, and if it works, copy/paste that code in place of what you have now.

  • AP Div "Moves" in Different Browsers

(The site in question is at www.yankee-lake.org) In a
template file, I have a layout table, within the first cell of
which is a jpg image as my page banner. I want a flash movie to
"float" above the jpg banner, and appear to be framed by the jpg
image. I used an AP div to contain the flash movie. If I position
the AP Div so that the movie is positioned correctly in Internet
Explorer, then it does not display properly in FireFox, Safari,
Opera, Camino, Chrome. Conversely, if I position the AP Div to
display properly in the other browsers, then the movie is not in
the proper position when viewed in Internet Explorer.
I think that the problem is that Internet Explorer uses a
different amount of space between left and top edges of the
viewport and the first elements of the web page, than the other
browsers. And, since the AP div is absolutely positioned within the
viewport, I get this anomalous behavior. But, I don't know how to
    fix it.
If I use relative positioning, then I don't know how to
"layer" the movie to float above the banner graphic.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.
    Brad

The AP Div is not moving. It's the rest of your content that
    is moving.
Add this to your CSS -
    body { margin:0; padding:0; }
and then locate the Flash div as desired.

  • Must a QuickTime or Flash Movie act as a MIAW?

I'm hoping to import a quicktime or flash movie with an alpha channel, in hopes that the stage image will not be obscured.  This is assuming that a movie can play in on the stage without being framed as a MIAW.  Is this possible?
    Thanks,
    -david

You're not going to get an alpha channel in a QuickTime movie, and if you turn off DTS and try to apply an ink, you'll again be dissatisfied. I'm less sure about Flash movies, but suspect it will depend on how they're imported/played. You certainly have a better chance with Flash.
I am unsure where your MIAW reference has any relevance, but assuming this is what you're asking: yes - a video can play on the stage, it doesn't have to be played in a MIAW.

  • Footer moves in different browsers

I'm having a problem with my footer wrapper moving to the
right of the content. It's happening on the site I'm working on now
    http://www.jesseyoung.com/jesse_new/services.html),
but has also happned on a number of other sites in the past.
Sometimes I've done some clunky work-arounds to fix the
problem, but I'd like to find out why this keeps happening. In this
case the footer wrapper jumps up to the right of the content when
using FF and also IE8. I realize that in this case it may be
because of the Accordian, but it's happened on pages without.
    Suggestions?

  • Flash buttons showing differently in browsers

I just used some simple, built-in Flash buttons (with no
spaces) for my nav bar in DW CS3. They look great and close
together in IE 7, but there is a gap between the buttons in Safari
and Firefox. Any simple explanation? Is it just how different
    browsers render flash/html?
    Thanks,
    Brian

If you want to use Flash for navigation, consider this -
    1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
    Especially
consider those people who are browsing from a corporate
    internet where Flash
is not allowed by the IT staff.
    2. Search engines may not parse Flash links - your site will
    not be
spidered unless you have redundant HTML links
    3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
    will those users
    do?
    4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
    move or rename
a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
    You will have
    to remake those buttons.
It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons - and for
    these reasons,
Adobe has removed Flash buttons and Flash text from CS4.

  • Need help with Different approaches to setting variables in a Flash movie in Adobe Flash CS3 Professional Version

    Hi,
I'm using Adobe Flash CS3 Professional version of Flash
    software,
I need help and guidance on
Different approaches to setting variables in a Flash movie,
what I should do in the fla file, and in the html file.
    Thanks, Gil

    Hi petro_jemes,
Just a little claritification, you need to add the value to the variable "[string]$ou", and also change the language in the variable "$emailbody" in the function "Get-ADUserPasswordExpirationDate".
    I hope this helps.

  • HTML Snippets move around in different browsers

I added an HTML Snippet (Skype button) and a Google map to a web site designed with iWeb. Both of these items move up or down in different browsers (Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer). Is there any way to lock the position of these widgets, so they don't move? The page with these problems can be found at: http://www.follow-your-nose.com/fyn/Contact.html

I have the same trouble, the strange thing is that out of 3 pages it works fine on 1, on the other 2 pages the HTML snippet moves up or down depending on the browser type.
So why does it work on this 1 page ?
Another problem I have is that links to recommend another site sometimes format themselves. I make them White Pink Grey, so in iWeb they work fine, but when published some of them suddenly being back to the original colors.
Another problem I have is that some Amazon Ads do not work in the HTML snippets, why the **** is that ?
iWeb *****, all that work for this not satisfying result.
thanks for any help you might give me....
the main concerned site is www.hongkong-experience.net you can see the problems on the what to do page, here the snippet moves as well as on the same page in german, it the french version it doesnt ??

  • Quicktime movie looks different in different browsers.  Is there a fix?

I have an H.264 Quicktime movie (and will be making versions with the Sorenson Video 3 codec, WMV compatible files, and FLV as well), and it looks the way I want it to look in Firefox for Mac and Firefox for Vista. In Safari and Internet Explorer, the blacks are washed out and it looks less saturated (though this is probably due to the image being washed out).
Is there anything I can do? I know Safari reads color profiles now, but I don't know how to add that to a Quicktime movie, and that wouldn't fix the problem with IE (or, curiously, Firefox on XP). If I drop the blacks enough to make it look good in Safari and IE, it will be too dark for Firefox users. Firefox appears to be the one displaying it "properly" (how it looks in FCP and the stand-alone Quicktime player).

It is indeed tricky. I've spent a lot of time over the last few months trying to figure it all out and still can't wrap my head around it all. That's due in large part because there's a lot of misinformation out there.
Thanks for the article. It's interesting because I too set my monitor to 2.2 gamma (sRGB) but for the purpose of working on this project had reverted it to 1.8 (Cinema Display default), and it's been there for a long time now. It is interesting, but it didn't solve my problem.
My problem is different browsers show a Quicktime differently. Now that I've switched to 2.2, Firefox looks too dark and Safari looks just right (where as before Firefox looked just right and Safari was washed out). Is there or is there not an option to include a color profile with Quicktimes? If not, I'll have to make a compromise, and I'd rather have one that looks great across all high-end monitors (meaning an expensive Dell or Apple monitor on OSX, WXP, and WV).
Does anyone know what in particular is making the two browsers display Quicktimes differently?

  • Playing different flash movies with Javascript

I've been researching this on the web to no avail so I figured I would post.
I am developing a homepage similar to http://www.extractable.com/
I have several different areas of text, which when you hover over them, I would like a different flash movie to play.  I have created this using pictures (example of one piece of the code is below), but want to increase the flashyness with, well, flash
          if (obj.id =="txtHolderPrograms")
          document.getElementById("imgLargePicture").style.filter="blendTrans(duration=.5)";
          document.getElementById("imgLargePicture").filters.blendTrans(duration=.5).Apply();
          document.getElementById("imgLargePicture").src = "PMDO.png";
          document.getElementById("imgLargePicture").filters.blendTrans(duration=.5).Play();
          document.getElementById("imgLargePictureHREF").href = "XXXXXXXXXXXX";
I have a div where I want the different movies to play in.  What is the best way to get the different flash files?  Keep in mind that extractable site is doing just about exactly what I want to do.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I can't tell how you have things set up between the title of your posting and what you say to explain the problem.  What are you calling pages?  How do the pageselate to the 2 flash file in the doc you mention?

    Hi users,
    Thanks for reply.
    Actually the problem is -
    For portrait dimensions are -
    width 20
    height 30
for landscape , obviously it will be
    width - 30
    height - 20
Thus , for second page - table width is 20 while page width is 30 and so 10 cm space remains blank on right side of page
user says that right side should not be blank, rather you extend table width to whole page width.
    thats where the problem is

  • Viewing Flash Across different browsers?

Is it capable of letting me view flash work across the browsers?

    Hi LaToneaL,
Thanks for your interest in BrowserLab!  The service does render Flash content, however it does not do so on Firefox 2 (both Windows and Mac) due to a bug in that version of Firefox.  That said, the focus of BrowserLab is on HTML/CSS layout moreso than on testing Flash (which generally works consistently across browsers).
    Cheers,

  • How to install Flash Player on two different browsers?

Have a Windows Vista 32-bit PC with two browsers: IE8 and Safari. Flash Player already installed on IE8.
I want Flash Player to run on both browsers and am concerned that installing Flash Player on Safari will mess up the existing Flash Player on IE8.
    How to proceed?
    Thanks,
    Marty

    Problem solved!
Created a System Restore Point and boldly charged ahead.  Using the Safari browser, I opened up the Flash Player download page and installed the version for Safari.
The Flash Player Plugin for Safari installed correctly with zero negative effect on IE8 Flash Player.
I was being overly cautious ... my concerns were unfounded.

  • Issue with images in different browsers

Having an issue with different browsers -- hoped someone
    could help.
If I open my site with IE, everything looks as it does in
Dreamweaver -- there is no overlap of text and images/etc.
If I open my site with Mozilla or Safari, it seems to
arbitrarily move up some of the images over the top of text. Not
all of the images, mind you -- just a few random ones throughout

Opening the following link in both type of browsers may give
