Flash - size isnt correct?

Hi I have an animation (say for arguments sake the stage is
500 x 500). Within the animation there is a large image moving from
left to right (say the image is 800 x 800). When I preview the
animation in Flash all is ok - the animation runs in a window 500 x
500. However, when I import the animation into Captivate I am
getting the full 800 x 800. This is quite annoying, is it a gap in
my knowledge of flash or is there something I am missing in
Captivate? Please help. Its Friday and I'd like to go home
:)

Hey ntompkins,
Let me guess, you publish into everything else and it runs
fine and the minute you publish your .swf into Captivate it ignores
the stage size?
I had this problem last week and was in a state of tearing my
hair out to fix it...
I came upon a solution though (courtesy of a flash forum)
copy your entire flash project into a movieclip within Flash,
mcProject for example, and put this movieclip into a brand new file
on it's own layer, then create a new layer above it with a
rectangle covering the same proportions as your stage, then right
click and mask it.
This was the only way I could get it to work, I'm sure there
is probably a more clever way, but I'm relatively new to Flash (and
Captivate for that matter!) and didn't want to get involved in
learning heaps of new code!!!!
I don't know if this is a Flash issue or Captivate issue, but
after 2 days of stressing and posting on Flash and Captivate forums
this was the only real solution I came up with!
Cheers
Ewan

You are right, but how could i send it to Apple? when the phone company first replaced my iphone they had in stock alots of iphones and they just sent mine back to Apple and gave me a new one, so all i did is to give them my phone, but now how could i sent it to Apple? and i cant send it by myself, and the store wont do that, its a lost for them.. so sending it to Apple wasnt an option from the begining.
and for the record, i dont think the store where i bought it is an authorized shop.. its just a store who boughts phone's from Apple in a low price and sells it in much more money..

  • Software distribution problem with RME 4.2 regarding flash size

Hello I'm updating the software on about 200 3750 stacks. During the verification process I'm used to get a warning with the messages swim1132,1201 and 1106. But jobs run then successfully.
But sometimes the verification step fails with the SWIM1200 error. That is a litte strange because all the switches have the same flash size of 15998976 bytes.
The error messages are in the attachment.
I woult be very happy, if somebody can give me an advice.

This is CSCsu49349.  The bug is fixed in RME 4.3.  The workaround is to go to RME > Software Mgmt > Software Repository, then click on the name of the image.  Reduce its required flash size down one setting (i.e. make the requirement 8 MB).  This will allow the image to deploy properly.

  • How to change flash size with ac3?

I want to change flash size with xml. Sample config.xml
    <genGenis>300</genGenis>
    <genYuksek>100</genYuksek>
My flash read xml and change size to 300 * 100
After working in a flash I want to change the default values. Is this possible?

Have you worked with XML before? You're going to need to load that XML file and wait for it to complete. After you do that, are you using layout logic based on these values to create your content? Meaning do you have code in place to realize you have (as you said) 500x200 space so your code is able to use the space available effectively? Or do you just expect the content of the SWF to scale automagically?
As for the loader, you can use a simple URLLoader to load the external XML file. Here's a quick Adobe code snippit and explaination on how to load it:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/as3/dev/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118a9b90204-7e6a.html
Once you have the XML in an XML object you can just access the value via the XML variable name you make (e.g. myXML) with the name of the node while getting its text value. In your case you'll need to convert it to a Number because you may want the flexibility of using fractions (e.g. 1.5, 500.25, etc). So you'd need to case the value to a number. So to get the width it'd be like: var myWidth:Number = Number(myXML.genGenis.text()); and same for height just changing the variable and node name as needed.
Now that you have your values you can write layout code to use the numbers and handle the content creation yourself.
If you don't do that, as Andrei1 mentioned you'll need to affect the object embedded directly using ExternalInterface (Flash AS3 talking to the webpages JavaScript) requesting the object be resized to the new size.
You'll want to make sure your stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.EXACT_FIT; or stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_BORDER; so your SWF content is "stretched" to the size you request. Exact fit will allow the content to distort if necessary to fill the width and height. No border will scale the content to the size specified but will maintain the aspect ratio. It's up to you whichever you want.
If you have any specific questions on any of this just ask.

  • Keynote and flash - sizes

I want to create a flash file that is a certain size in pixels, ideally by using keynote if this is possible. How can I change the size of the flash file that is exported from Keynote? Is it simply the paper size that needs adjusting?

Yes, that's correct. Just be aware that you can't create a slide size smaller in either height or width than 200 pixels. If you need something smaller than this, you'll need to create the file at an even multiple of your target size greater than 200
    for example
to create a file that 100x50
set up Keynote to create it at 400x200
and then, when you embed it in the browser, embed it at the 100x50 size. It should work fine for you.

  • File size of corrected jpegs expands to half the size of the original

Using a Canon 1Dx, I have an option of utilizing both slots and assigning different file types to each.  In one slot I shoot RAW, and on the 2nd slot I shoot a JPG backup.  Typically though I'll do all my work on the RAW file in Lightroom 5.  The unimported JPG shot on the second slot expands to approx. 51MB.  But the CR2 file, imported to Lightroom 5 and then exported as a corrected JPG, only expands to 28MB.  Am I missing something on import/export that would reduce the filesize of the corrected JPG?  I cannot find a setting that is toggled that augments import/export size.  Is this a bits per channel issue?   Similarly, I have the same issue with Bridge.  When converting a CR2 file to JPG it expands to the same 28MB filesize.  My client wants his JPG to expand closer to that 50MB number.

    dean5432 wrote:
When the JPG file is opened, it shows as 51MB.  When the CR2 file is opened it's 28MB.  I was under the mistaken impression that the files would produce equally sized JPGs, and that somehow in the output from Lightroom it was constraining the size of the finished image.
When you say "opened" what  'MB' reading are you reffering to? Lightroom can show the image file's Resolution (5184 x 3456), File Size (MB), and Megapixels. What does LR show for these three reading, in particular you should be interested in the image 'Resolution' value.
When viewed in PS your Canon 1Dx raw image files should show a 'Document Size' of:
    5184 x 3456 x 3 (RGB) x 2 (16 bit data) = 107,495,424 Bytes ÷ 1,048,576 (# of Bytes in MB) = 102,515,625 Bytes = 102.5 MB
Your full-size Camera JPEG images should be exactly 1/2 since they are 8bit images = 51.3 MB
I can confirm these numbers with my Canon 600D, which also uses a 5184 x 3456 resolution sensor.
    You may have your camera set to shoot M-Raw (3888 x 2592) or S-Raw (2592 x 1728) with full-size JPEG (5184 x 3456).

  • Flash not playing correctly in Captivate

I have Captivate 4 and Flash CS4.  I have created a Flash .swf in Actionscript 3.0 that has several interactions.  I have placed stop(); in Frame one, Frame 5, and Frame 10 and then depending on the interaction I have gotoAndPlay (5) or gotoAndPlay(10).
The resulting .swf works properly in Flash Player, but when I place the .swf into Captivate it ignores the stops in the actionscript on Frames 1 and 5 and goes directly to Frame 10.
I don't have any idea how to make it play correctly.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Flash not playing correctly in Chrome or Firefox

I did a Flash SWF file on CS5.5, and then published the output. It has 5 imported videos (FLV), all placed within the same directory as the FLA, SWF and HTML files. When I go ahead and open the HTML file on Chrome, the SWF file plays, but when I get to the frame where the placed FLV files were supposed to play, the videos don't appear at all. Same goes for Firefox. However, it plays correctly in Internet Explorer.
I'm a total Flash beginner, so I have no idea what I'm doing wrong here.
I've uploaded screenshots of the HTML code and of the SWF file in Chrome.
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/89001193/screenshot1.jpg
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/89001193/screenshot2.jpg
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/89001193/screenshot3.jpg
Also, I tried creating a Win Projector EXE file, and I get an error dialog saying "Destination Directory Does Not Exist. Change Your Publish Settings", whe in fact I used the default publish settings.
I'd really appreciate expert advice on this, especially if you can "dumb down" your answers to total beginner level.

Are you using relative links to the paths of the media, e.g.: assets/videos/movie1.flv ?
What are you using for FLV playback, the FLVPlayback component itself or are you handling NetStream/Video yourself, or StageVideo?
Default publish settings are never to be trusted in Flash, ever. Paths are RARELY ever saved correctly unless they're relative and even then it's not safe to assume it's correct. I've, long ago, made it a habit of going into publish settings, clicking the browse icon next to SWF/HTML/EXE/etc and manually set the location to publish every single time. If you do that the error should go away about publish destination (and yes, it's really irritating).
What FLV codec did you use?

  • Acrobat Pro 9 won't size PDFs correctly.

I upgraded to a Windows 7 computer and Acrobat 7.0 wouldn't work with it anymore, so I bought 9.0 pro. However, It absolutely will not change the page size and converts everything to 8.5 x 11 no matter how I change the settings. How can I correct this, it's driving me nuts and wasting my time and I can't get anything done! Thanks in advance for whatever help can be offered.

First thing to do is ask yourself why you are posting this in an InDesign Software Development Kit forum ...

  • Flash not displaying correctly for only one web site

In the last 3 or 4 days I seem to have problems with the flash content of one single web site not displaying correctly from my laptop.  I have the same problem from both IE (version7.0.5730.11) and from FF (3.5.8).  The site works fine from my desktop system so it's not the site specifically.  The site (www.transparent.com/wotd/today/spanish.htm) has an embeded flash segment that does not display correctly and thus I can't click on two of the embedded buttons.  It also does not display the background pattern for the flash.  I'm running flash 10.0.45.2 based upon right clicking from within the embedded flash which takes me to the Adobe page with my version info.  The Adobe page seems to display fine.
As far as I know I'm not having problems with another instance of flash - only this site.
Any thoughts on how to diagnose the problem?  I've not added any new programs since this website stopped working but do have some background "tune up" programs that run.  I'm assuming some settings are out of wack but don't know where to start looking.  Any help folks woulc provide would be appreicated.

Well, that is hard to tell. Like I said the website may have updated their technology. Just because it works with the Desktop, doesn't mean there is not a reason that the laptop might not have a problem. You have 2 different systems and
    most likely different configurations.
You may want to check Tools and in the add ons for both, look for Shockwave Flash Object...ActiveX Control..Flash10e.ocx should be installed and enabled.
Also for each check C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash  Right click the Flash folder and make sure for IE that the files are vs 10.0.45.2 by checking the properties.
If you have the correct Flash files and the correct SWO then, some other cause would be looked at.
It has been my experience to not "assume", but verify:-)
    Thanks,

  • Embedded flash not behaving correctly

I am having some problems with embedding flash into a PDF and I hope you can help. When I run the flash outside the PDF, all of the rollovers and cursor changes behave correctly. However, once I embed the flash into the pdf and launch it, when I rollover areas of interaction, the cursor doesn't behave like it should.
Outside the PDF, when I rollover an area of interaction, the pointer changes to the hand. When it is embedded into a PDF, I hit the edge of the area of interaction and the cursor flashes to the hand and then back to the pointer.
I know these aren't the correct terms but I am hoping that it is decipherable. I am far from a flash or PDF guru, but I have tried everything I can think of to get this to work. The flash presentation was created in adobe captivate 3.
I have opened a case with Adobe support and I was on the phone with them for 2+ hours today with no resolution. I am hoping the collective knowledge of the forums and the internet can help! Thanks in advance!
    --jcbrig00

I am also having a problem with this . It seems to be a bug because it is not only movie clips but buttons that don't show the hand cursor.
My problem was with a simple flash test movie created in flash cs5 using actionscript 2
If any one can solve this I would be really grateful

the problem was answered:  you had incorrect embedding.
and yes, there's javascript to correctly embed swf's in html pages.  the flash ide creates valid javascript and swfobject.js has valid javascript.
i'm not aware of any other javascript that reliably embeds swf's in html pages.  there are several versions and two methods using swfobject.

  • Flash Not Sizing Correctly in IE7

I found the answer to this problem by accident, but I'll go
ahead and post in case someone else has the same issue. I have a
    full-browser flash site (width:100%, height: 100%). I had noscale
and alignment set correctly, and my resize function worked fine.
The flash was still being stretched by a few pixels in IE. I have a
main swf that loads a content swf. All I did was change
    addChild(loader.content); to addChild(loader);. So I just
referenced my loader directly instead of it's content when adding
it. I have no clue why this was causing a problem, but at least
    it's fixed.

    Hi Brian,
Try uninstalling your current copy of Flash and reinstall new.
    Uninstall Flash
    Install Flash
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1594
Since you are running Snow Leopard, *make sure Safari is running in 32-bit mode, not 64*. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) make sure *Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.*
    Then repair disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and *restart your Mac.*
