Flash: Solutions for Making a Transparent Movie?

I have searched for an hour now so I might as well start a question.
I'm trying to make a simple text animation but the background won't go away from my exports. I need to make a movie file (.avi or .mov) and nothing is letting me remove the white space in the background.
Things I have tried:
Go to Publish settings > HTML > Window mode: Trasparent Windowless
     Result: White background remains
Make a .mov and in Quicktime Export Settings checkmark Ignore Stage Color (generate alpha)
Result: This time, everything was black (text was black too so it probably blended withthe background
Make a .avi and in Export Windows AVI set video format to 32 bit color w/ alpha
     Result: White background remains
Make a .gif image sequence and just use the images in your video editer to make the animation
Result: Even after changing the GIF publish settings to transparent, the gif images are still not transparant
So far nothing works so what is the deal with flash not comprehending with a clear background in movie files?
Any help will work, as long as it isn't something I've already tried.

Just out of interest, how do you convert the SWF to an AVI?
Is this a capability available in Flash by default?
This could help me fix my problem I outlined here:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/738017?tstart=0
I tried using Adobe Media Encoder to export a SWF to AVI, but it tells me that SWF is not a supported format.

  • I have been looking for a solution for making my videos capable of playing on anything such as: DVD player, Mac, PC, etc.

I have been looking for a solution for making my videos capable of playing on anything such as: DVD player, Mac, PC, etc. I have not found a format that will play with all of these. Is there a format, software, or do you encode it? I am new to production. I can make a video and make it work for a certain thing just not all.

There is no such thing as universal format and that is that. You are looking for the magic pearl that doesn't exist and rather than waste your time on a futile search, it would be better to actually read up on the various formats and their limitations, including how playback devices may or may not support this and that.

  • What would the CODE be, in Flash, for making buttons transparent on MOUSEOVER?

I am building my site in Flash, and I have these thumbnails, that when moused over, a larger version pops up.
Problem is, they are being obscured by the other thumbs. See for yourself:
    http://www.andreadams.com/Andre_Adams_products_games.htm
(also attaching a jpeg example of what I'm talkin about)
I tried to make the buttons transparent, put them on different layers, all this stuff, nothing worked. I figured there must be some code to make it work, like, "on mouseover, make buttons A, B, C transparent." Something like that, just have no idea how to write it.
If someone could help me out it would be much appreciated! I will reward you with a copy of my Cartoon Express CD collection--500 vector images. No joke!
    cheers, Andre

The more correct way to deal with this is to manage the depths of the movieclips/buttons so that whichever is currently being rolled over is brought to the top of the pecking order.  It may require a little bit of redesign, but not necessarily.  How you go about mamanging the depths depends on what version of actionscript you're using.  In AS2 you want to look into the swapDepths() method, and in AS3 you want to look into the setChildIndex() method.
To answer the title question, to make something transparent, like a button or a movieclip, you set the alpha/_alpha (AS3/AS2) property to 0. But in doing that you will probably be creating a problem because transparent objects can still interact with a mouse.  Your better bet is to set the visible/_visible property to false... invisible objects won't interact with mice.

  • Looking for a software solution like "Ceros" for making HTML5 interactive online magazines?

Does Adobe CC have at solution for making HTML5 interactive online magazines? (not a FLASH solution from indesign)

I don't know what the quark plugin does, I'm guessing that it is reading from an external file that contains the price information. An ordinary method of dealing with updatable information in Flash is to use an external file, usually in .xml format. You can update the xml file or have your database do it for you, and then every time a user hits your site, the data is read from the .xml file. Each user will get the latest prices.

No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.
Here is Steve Jobs official comment on his momentous decision to omit Flash from iDevices: Steve Jobs on Flash.
Here is Adobe's later announcement to cease development of Flash for mobile devices: Adobe on Mobile Flash.
Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.
Apps that can display some Flash from the Web:
    Puffin
    SkyFire
    Photon Flash
    Browse2Go
    iSwifter
Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."

  • "Blocked plug-in message" problem on my OS X 10.6.8. (Safari's 5.1.10). Any solutions for a non-techie (step 3 on Adobe Flash's instructions leads to dead end). Thanks.

"Blocked plug-in message" problem on my OS X 10.6.8 (Safari's 5.1.10). Any solutions for a non-techie (step 3 on Adobe Flash's instructions leads to dead end, i.e. product for sale). Thank you.

Prior to updating flash player, you must first uninstall all previous versions.  Make sure you are downloading from the proper Adobe website = Adobe Flash Player Software
    Flash Player Uninstaller
Repair permissions and restart your computer after the installations.

  • Hello, is there a way for making a photo transparent with iPhoto are another software?

Hello, is there a way for making a photo transparent with iPhoto are another software?

Not with iPhoto, but different apps have different capabilities.
There are a couple of considerations: How is this transparent image to be used? In a Deskop Publishing environment something like Pages' Instant Alpha might be useful. Or if you're trying to overlay one image on another on a photograph then some editor that supports layers would be required.
Further, Jpegs as a format doesn't support transparency so you'll need to work ina  file format that does.
But if you can explain what you're hoping to do we might be able to point you in a more useful direction.
In order of price here are some suggestions for editors:
    Seashore (free)
    The Gimp (free)
    Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
    Acorn ($50 approx)
    Pixelmator ($50 approx)
    Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • Solution center suddenly ask for enabling Adobe Flash player for internet explorer for scanning

Solution center suddenly ask for enabling Adobe Flash player for internet explorer for scanning. However, flash player is installed and enabled, but HP Solution center keeps asking for enabling and doesn't let me scan.
    Any suggestion?

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @yuvalyanai
I read about the issue you are having with scanning, as you are seeing a message to enable Adobe Flash player.
To begin, I would like to know some more information:
Which operating system you are running and which printer you are working with?
How Do I Find My Model Number?
Which Windows Operating System am I running?
    Can you make copies successfully?
Can you print from your computer?
Have you tried updated Adobe Flash player?
Can you scan successfully from Microsoft Paint?
How is your printer connected to your PC, wireless, ethernet or USB?
In the meantime, try resetting the printer:
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
I hope to hear from you, have a wonderful weekend

  • Apple could you please find a solution for flash videos on safari

    dear apple,
apple i am really looking forward for looking up a solution for watching flash content on safari .
    best wishes
    TARIQ MOHAMED

You are not talking to Apple here, you need to send them feedback via the official channels.
    http://www.apple.com/feedback
Also, Adobe just announced that they are ceasing development on mobile flash for all devices, so there is no chance Flash will ever come to iOS.
Mobile Flash is dead, it's all about HTML5.

  • Good Resources for making Flash Games?

I'm new to Flash, and I'm working on getting through a book on the basics.  What I'm wondering though is, are there any good resources out there for making games in Flash CS4.  I know I'm going to get some "learn the basics first" replies, and yes I know I need to get a solid grounding in those, but I want to be able to start gathering resources, and look ahead to what I'll be able to do with Flash in the future.
By resources I mean books, other websites, your own advice about game making, etc...

i started developing in flash about 2 weeks ago for the same reason and have written a little animation and started writing a multiplayer game, which will be fully functional and properly skinned soon.  If you are like me, you have a vague understanding of object oriented programming, know at least one other programming language and can adapt to all this event-driven stuff.  Here's my story in brief.
I started with some dev center videos and then went to AdobeTV for more videos, especially to newbie channels like Douge Winnie's.  I think I also played along with some flash down under videos to learn more action script 3 (very important in a game, I would say).
I'm sure you want to get onto your game project right away, but you are probably 3-5 mini projects away from that.  If you don't do some toy projects you'll just end up doing a crappy job on your game or plain old getting stuck.  The mini projects, whether they are elements of your game, or exercises in videos, will force you to find the ressources you need to learn from.
If you want to make a multiplayer game, try smartfoxserver - it is very well documented with little tutorials and stuff.  Some tutorials on
this youtube channel too (where he mostly just runs you through the documentation).  Smartfox has a few good examples of nicely built interactive programs.  Just make sure you are using their actionscript 3.0 stuff.
Lastly, understand and use Components.  They will save you a lot of work.  smartfoxserver has components (called bits) and so does flash.  I imagine you can even download extra components.  These are things like scrolling text boxes, buttons that look like buttons, etc.
    Cheers,
    Alejandro
