Hi
You would generally set a go to url action in the movie from
within
Flash, you won't be able to do this from within Dreamweaver.
Splash
pages like this generally aren't a good idea. Imagine if you
went to the
supermarket and every time the guy on the door insisted on
doing a
little dance for you before letting you in... You'd change
supermarkets,
right?

  • Splash page design in Ps CS6

    Hi,
    I'm using Ps CS6 and I designed a splash page with animation and sound but am not sure how to export it so it can be an actual intro page? Can this be done or should I have created it using Flash?
    Still learning...go easy on me...LOL
    Thanks, Lee

    If you are talking about a web page, then it's simply a terrible idea. There is nothing more off-putting than having to wait for the actual content to load and unnecessary fluff consuming your data quota on mobile devices. That and of course that especially in the latter case it will cause all sorts of technical issues. Flash is most definitely out of the questions as is loading arbitrary movie clips. If at all, this will have to be properly authored in Edge Animate or similar web-centric tools. Still, even then it will impact loading times and overall user experience and potentially bad Google ratings... Otherwise feel free to render whatever you have to an animated GIF or movie clip and integrate it into your web page, but you'll still have to learn web stuff to do it...

  • Splash page is not working for everyone

    Greetings All,
    My client has received several complaints by customers that
    they can't see
    the public website which opens automatically once the splash
    movie is
    finished playing. They say that all they can see is a yellow
    screen. I
    believe this might be due to the splash screen hanging when
    they don't have
    flash or a corrupt flash installed. Can anyone shed some
    light on me as to
    what might be the problem and a strategy toward fixing it.
    The splash page seems to work fine on every computer I have
    tried.
    I'd hate to have to remove the flash page but that is just
    what might have
    to happen if I can't resolve this issue.

    I'm a little confused.
    You have a splash intro flash movie that they *can* see but
    they can't see the main site:
    http://www.groceryoutlets.com/home.aspx
    the main site is not flash.
    Is the issue that the redirect is never leaving the flash
    page?
    hard to say without the ability to reproduce it.

  • Splash Page Problems

    Hi. I am trying to make a SWF open a new browser window when
    it is clicked, acting as a Splash page that opens the main page. I
    want the main page to open in a new window 800 x 600 with none of
    the address bar, toolbars etc. I've managed this but there are
    three problems:
    1. The little grey strip at the bottom that says "Done",
    "Internet" etc, I think its called 'Status' still appears even
    though I've set status to no.
    2. The code I've used in flash to spawn the new browser
    window works with Firefox but not with Internet Explorer.
    3. The SWF's play slower in a browser.
    I have included the code I've used below. Can anybody help?

    Any help please?

  • Making a Splash Page

    I am wanting to make a splash page on my main domain name that can redirect to several other flash template websites, each having a different domain name. I am wondering if Dreamweaver can do this.
    I am a photographer and want the visitor to decide which category he wants to view, for example weddings, seniors, children, newborns and each one linking ot a seperate flash template website having its own theme.
    I will probably also build a non flash website for mobile devices and dial up.
    I now own the Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production CS4.
    Thanks for any information.

    I am wanting to make a splash page on my main domain name that can
    redirect to several other flash template websites, each having a
    different domain name. I am wondering if Dreamweaver can do this.
    A Redirect (aka 301 "permanently moved" redirect) can only forward to one URL.  A reason for using a 301 redirect would be if your web site changed domain names or if you deleted or moved pages on your site.
    I don't favor Splash pages because I think they're a waste of precious real estate.  The most important page on your site is your main domain's index page.  If you leave it empty, you're wasting an opportunity to get noticed by search engines.
    Similarly, Flash driven sites don't get noticed by search engines because they can't read Flash content.  And Flash sites pose usability problems for people/devices that can't support Flash Player.
    My advice is to create the majority of your web pages in HTML.  Include plenty of keyword rich content on the main domain's index page.  Provide thumbnails and text links with absolute URLs to your various sub-sites (eg: http://your-subsite.com).  Instead of Flash, you can use jQuery or JavaScripted slideshows or photo galleries to showcase your products.

  • Splash page while loading video

    I've a site that uses flash video (swf) heavily. the video
    stutters when beginning, I'd like to delay the start just a few
    seconds - either by using a splash page that loads the video or
    shows JUST a few seconds of 'loading'. The only option I've seen
    displays the 'loading' throughout the entire loading of the video,
    which is unnecessary. I used 'video2swf' to create the video - it's
    around 50 megs or so.

    Yes it is. How about this? Only thing is that it keeps saying that the finishLaunching is undeclared.
    - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions
    // Add the view controller's view to the window and display.
    self.navController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:viewController];
    navController.toolbar.barStyle = UIBarStyleBlackOpaque;
    [window addSubview:navController.view];
    [window makeKeyAndVisible];
    //This call returns immediately, then waits until the next time
    //through the event loop to invoke the method.
    [self performSelector: finishLaunching withObject: nil afterDelay: 0];
    return YES;
    - (void) finishLaunching;
    if ([[Database shared] needImport])
    [[Database shared] import];
    I tried that in my appdelegate.m file.

  • Flash Landing Page Challenge

    I meet with a client tomorrow to discuss the following…
    I am getting ready to update a past client's website using newer web standards. This particular website has a Flash Intro on the index.html page. I have a feeling this has greatly hindered search engine activity. What would be the best way to handle keeping a Flash intro without it being logged as a main page? Or should I recommend that the client eliminate the Flash landing page?
    Your assistance would be much appreciated.

    that depends on your control panel.  does it allow redirects?
    in addition, search engines will follow the redirect so i don't think that's going to accomplish much.
    trying to fool search engines is risky and even if it works you can be sure it won't work forever.
    Thanks for the added info. This is helpful. I might as well keep things as they are and advise the client accordingly. I would prefer to see them allow me to build a new flash banner and eliminate the Splash page altogether. Once I finish rebuilding the site with newer standards, I might give the client some incentive by offering a discount. It is really in my best interest that my client sites are up to snuff with this stuff.

  • Best Export Settings For A Splash Page?

    Hello. I'm creating a splash page for my website, and I've
    created a very shot animation. It looks great in Flash, but I need
    to know what are the best settings to use in Adobe Flash to keep
    the quality nice and clear. I tried the default and exported it as
    a movie, but the resulting animation was very choppy and pixelated.
    Does anyone know how I can keep this from happening so that I will
    have a nice splash page? Any help would be appreciated.

    export as ppt or clickable pdf
    both can be shown from a pc with no loss of quality, only loss of (some) animations

  • Playback stuck at splash page

    This may be a Flash Player, rather than Presenter, issue - but I need to start somewhere.
    I'm getting reports from users that a course we created in Presenter launches, but gets stuck at the "Adobe Presenter" with the circling arrow splash page. Local IT has indicated that this happens on all of their locked down computers. If IT logs in as Admin and does nothing but launch that course, it launches completely successfully and moves to the content - and all subsequent users have the same successful experience under any account.
    That's implying that something is updating automatically upon launch under the Admin login that isn't getting updated under the standard login.
    What things can I be looking at (or directing IT to look at)? Is there a setting in Presenter I'm using that could be causing this? Is there something about the login restrictions that I should be directing them to examine? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Jeff

    (Gah... I responded to this just after you posted, but didn't verify that it posted... which apparently it didn't. Sorry for the delay.)
    Yes. I should clarify that it's being delivered via LMS, not run locally. It's a SCORM-based course.
    When the non-admin user clicks launch, the grey "Adobe Presenter" splash screen (pre-loader, really, I guess) is as far as they get. If an admin user logs in to the same computer and launches the course, it plays fine for the admin and any subsequent user, admin or not.
    I'm not sure what to look for in the global security settings. Can you be more specific?

  • I would like to have a video splash page on my website along with a video uploader.

    I would like to have a video splash page on my website along with a video uploader. Can this be done in BC? I don't even see video uploader templates for sale? Help anyone.

    I am not sure what you mean by "Muse Side" Or BC.
    People who have only Muse experience with the web, sorry its hard to follow what you mean sometimes so bare with people like me.
    BC - This is the CMS (Content management system) and hosting platform to develop websites on. Muse is a very basic graphical based interface to build websites. This is NOT the only thing you use to build websites on and use with BC. I use Coda2 for example (We design and then code sites ourselves to offer rich, feature and web standard, well optimised etc websites).
    Because embeded videos are html, flash etc depending on what you choose then you can.
    Auto play is a bad idea, its a bad user experience. Why? Say you just had a gaming session or listed to music, you now have that stopped and your now browsing the web. All of a sudden you load a site that starts playing sound in your ears - This is a big shock and its a very well known pet hate of web users. It puts them off your site instantly.
    In saying that you can have a video autoplay from youtube if you just enable the option when you embed it, so does vimeo. That is at the basic levelt.
    If you want to have a modal pop up on your home page you will need to code it to do so when you load the home page using javascript. In that you can have the video and set that to autoplay. The one thing you will need to do is also code cookie support in javascript as well. You will want to do this when the user closes the browser because as soon as they do so they do not want to see it again if they reload or go back to the home page. Your cookie will be checked every time the homepage loads and if it is there - dont play the video, if it is not then play the video popup.

  • Splash page with animated gif only question

    Hello all:
    I have a splash page (index.html) that is designed using an animated gif created in photoshop. The rest of my site is Css/XHTML, but has some divs containing animated gifs. I have two questions;
    1: By using only the animated gif on the splash page, am I limiting or hindering my SEO (google, microsoft, yahoo) ranking opportunities as there is no "content" on the page that the spiders/bots can see? I went ahead and included some "content" but hid it by coloring the type the same as the background color hoping that might do something, but obviously I'm a SEO newbie so any suggestions are more than welcomed. I will include the code at the end of this post, and my site is: http://reynolds-marketing.com.
    2. Is there a way to pre-load the animated gifs on my pages so that they play more smoothly and efficiently?
    TIA for any of your help. Murman

    My guess is yes, but that is just my opinion.  I believe the text/background same color idea was really in vogue back in the late 90's and we all heard that it was the kiss of death for SEO that the SE's hated them so much you got de-listed, not sure if that is a fact or not.
    My bigger concern would be how many people you are losing by making them wait to get to where they want to go.  I have told many a client that in some sense, the interent is too big, you have too much competition and people have thin patience for things like splash pages.  The ooo and aaa effect of animated gifs is long dead...again, in my opinion.
    I dont know the answer to your load question...

  • How do I make a splash page?

    Well I am wanting to make a splash page  so would like  a lot of information about them so I can make a good one or good starter one and thank you in advance.

    To make sure we're on the same page, do you mean a "splash page" as in a "graphic/whizbang rich, look what I can do style, first thing the visitor sees" page?
    The best advice I can offer if that's what you mean is: Don't do it.
    The days of the "splash page" are far behind us now. If you want the best possible rankings in the search engines, don't use up your most valuable website real estate on something the search engines can't see or ignore intentionally. Don't force your visitors to have to "go through all of that again" just to get to your actual content when they come back to your site.
    Your home page should be filled with keyword rich AND relevant html text (not blocks of spammy keywords) so search engines have something to sink their teeth into. If you want to show off, make a portfolio section on your site and put all your "look what I can do" info and ideas there.
