Flash Tearing | flashplugin, arch64

Right, so I have one problem with flash and that is that videos tear when there are things that move quickly.
I am currently using Firefox to watch flash videos, I have installed the flashplugin package from the main repositories.
I am using a 8800GT, I have enabled both XVideo and OpenGL sync to VBlank so that's not an issue.
I was wondering if there is a parameter I need to set somewhere to enable VBlank syncing for flash.
Here is my xorg.conf:

  • Flash player block the sound. [SOLVED]

    Hi !
I'm having a problem with Flash which is the kind of little annoyance that can quite quickly get on someone nerve. Here it is:
Every time a flash video is played, the flashplugin stop the sound from working anywhere else. What actually happens is that if I type "lsof /dev/dsp/" the output will be the process in which the flash video is, or has been played. The major problem is that even if I leave the page containing the flash video, as long as the process is active I won't be able to have any sound... So I have to kill the process.
This has been more tolerable lately since I switched to Chrome, since every tab is its own process I just have to close the bad tab, but that is still quite annoying.
I have absolutely no idea what can cause the flash plugin to act like that, I've searched over google and this forum and haven't been able to find anyone having the same problem... Am I the only one to experience that ?
On a seemingly unrelated subject, the sound in flash video is delayed by about one second, whereas it is good in any over case (amarok and VLC).
I am running arch 64, and am using the flashplugin that can be found in the extra repository of Arch:
    pacman -Qs flash
    local/flashplugin 10.0.42.34-1
        Adobe Flash Player
    local/libflashsupport 9.0.21.78-5
Macromedia flash plugin support lib (OSS SSL)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If something isn't clear, please ask me, I am French so my English might not be perfect...

I installed 32 bit Flash using nspluginwrapper. Everywhere I read it says that the flashplugin package should install a working 64 bit plugin but it doesn't work. Firefox segfaults with this plugin and Chrome doesn't show any flash and complains about an ELF32 binary.
sand_man: Can you please post your libflashplayer.so so I can try it? Thanks! At least your md5sum to compare.
EDIT: Chrome doesn't complain anymore but still doesn't show any flash. Firefox still segfaults.

  • I have tearing with flash and Youtube videos.

    First, my specs.

    Nvidia 9600gt DDR3
    2GB RAM
    Browsers: Firefox 3.6.12 and IE7
I have the newest Nvidia Drivers and Adobe Flash 10.1
Well the problem is that I have tearing with flash and videos in Windowed Mode, if I turn the full screen option there is no sign of tearing BUT only if I have hardware acceleration turn on.
So the problem is, why I have tearing in windowed mode?

Same here. I am not getting 'what tearing' is all about. Can u please explain?

  • [SOLVED] Flashplugin 11.2.202.236-1 flash crash on any browser

Sadly, I found that flashplugin just plain crash in latest chrome (Chromium 20.0.1132.57) and firefox (Firefox 14.0.1), I tried to downgrade flashplugin (until 10.x)[1] but the problem persists. I also tried to disable hardware acceleration but this doesn't solve it either :(.
Is somebody running into this issue too? I've searched the bbs and I don't found anything according to Firefox 14.0 and this flashplugin version.
    I'm running Arch x86_64.

@pablox: You're basically screwed . Flash is a closed-source piece of excrement. Adobe couldn't get it running properly, so they gave up. They literally gave up - note how there's no 11.3 for Linux at that link.
Hahahaha, I know. I was using 11.2.x (i believe) until a couple of days ago in Chromium and Firefox. Then suddenly they stopped working. As I said, I tried a lot of different versions but all of them were crashing.
The package in the AUR reports:

  • Arch64 - Opera - Flash

    Hello,
What is the easiest way of getting flash to work in Opera running under Arch64?  I've tried many things without success.
    Thanks.

Not sure if you checked the wiki or not but it worked for me.

I tried the Opera specific steps at the bottom but they didn't work.
I just followed the nspluginwrapper-flash steps
Also check in Opera that the required path to plugin is set

  • Flash does not work using: opera-devel-qt4 + flashplugin x86_64

I'm not a huge fan of Konqueror so I installed Opera on my x86_64 KDE 4.2.2 installation. The standard opera package works well enough, but it is the 9.x version. The 10.x version (beta) supports the newer qt4 libraries, so it looks all shiny in the KDE environment. My problem is, when I install aur/opera-devel-qt4 and flashplugin, Opera doesn't detect that I have flash installed.  "No plugins detected" it says.
Part of the issue, I'm guessing, is that the aur/opera-devel-qt4 is listed as i686 only. I've found that if I simply add x86_64 to the arch that it'll build and run fine. Now I'm sure it is very likely simply running in 32 compatibility mode based on the huge number of lib32- packages I have installed. So, my theory is that flashplugin installed as x86_64 and aur/opera-devel-qt4 installed as 32bit and the two aren't getting along.
Any ideas on how I can get around this issue? I prefer the later version of Opera with qt4 support and I could like without flash if I had to.. but I'd prefer not.

I don't know exactly which packages are required, but I'd like to find out so we can submit a patch to the AUR maintainer.
I did find a solution to my initial problem. I needed 32bit flashplugin + some lib32 depends to get it working in Opera. I put together a aur/flashplugin-universal package on that should provide both architectures for users running both 32 and 64 bit browsers.

  • About in tears from new adobe flash player 10.3 not working

After installing the new Adobe Flash 10.2.153.1 on my Windows7 64 bit computer, it can not be found when using my IE8 (does not show 32 or 64 bit only 256-bit).
I have uninstalled using your reference on "please read: when asking Flash Player questions" and then reinstalled. It is on the programs list as installed but when I go to a site that needs me to use Adobe Flash it says I need it install it. Whn I go to the adobe web site to verify that I have installed Adobe Flash it only has a box with a small red x in the corner.
I have updated my devices drivers.  I do not completely understand what a "kill-bit" is; however, I have gone into my registry and there is no registry keys that have {d27....etc}. There are many other numbers and most have a compatibilty flag of 0x00000400. So I must not have a "kill-bit" for Flash Player set. Not sure what that means.
Can you help me? And have I given you enough info?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

FYI - have uninstalled adobe flash player since we last replied should I try to install again?

importantly is there anything I can do about this corruption?
I had assumed it was something to do with cubic to quadratic

the Flash IDE can render it correctly this cannot be the cause of
    the problem?
    Many thanks for your thoughts,

How is the AI file setup (layers)?
I have seen this before in very rare situations and I know
there's a way to fix it - I am betting
the original image is very small right? If so - scale it up
large - really large - before importing
into Flash. Feel free to send me your Ai file:

  • USB boot with flash or HDD in ARCH64

The information provided by mobo mfrs never includes bios boot info.
Please help me to find at least one 64bit mobo that does bios boot using USB 2.0 devices.
I figure I might as well get 64bit aloing with the USB bios boot and large ram all at the same time.

Tried to boot USB flash drive on three high profile machines at FRY's, one an HP , a FRY's model and a Gateway.  None would boot from my flash drive.
I suspect that admin has strapped the USB boot to prevent virus entry into the boot on their demo machines.
I have no way of determining whether a mobo boots from USB flash .  None of the salespersons even know what bios boot options are present in their demo computers to say nothing about their multitude of mobos.
Motherboards.org has no info on bios boot options.
I desire to purchase a mobo which will boot from Larch flash drive into arch in ram.  The mobo has to have 2GB of ram (or more).
I will pursue any good candidate whether 32 bit or 64bit mobo.
