Flash text and frames!

Hi,
Im making a simple frameset with a left navigation and a main
frame.
It works fine with normal links in the navigation.
But when i use flashtext links it launches a new window, even
with the target set.
Any ideas?

Is this during a local F12 local preview?
But does it work when uploaded to a server?

so, targeting named frames is effectively broken when viewing
local files
AFAIK.
They should work as intended when uploaded to a server.
If that's not it, url address to the uploaded page please.

Hi,
I have installed DW CS4 on my pc with Vista Home Premium 64
Bit...I have edit my website homepage and I have discovered that I
can't edit all flash text and buttons that I have created with DW
CS3! I have see that the adobe has removed from CS4 version this
option! So, now how I can resolve this problem??
I have try to install also the CS3 version but I don't
understand because I can't no more activated it from internet or
phone option!
I'm very angry for this, now I have to recreate from the
begin all flash text and buttons of my website with other software?
perhaps to buy also the Flash CS4 version for the solution? is this
the new idea of adobe with their new CS4 version?

It was a poor choice on Adobe's part to ever include such an
option, and on
your part for using it. Think about it -
1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
Especially
consider those people who are browsing from a corporate
internet where Flash
is not allowed by the IT staff.
2. Search engines may not parse Flash links - your site will
not be
spidered unless you have redundant HTML links
3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
will those users
do?
4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
move or rename
a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
You will have
to remake those buttons.
It's almost always a very bad idea for these reasons.
The solution is to make graphics to replace the Flash
elements, or just use
CSS styled text.

Flash navigation and frames

I have flash navigation buttons in top frame. When the
navigation/menu buttons are clicked the content should load in the
'body' frame. What is actually occurring is the content is opening
in a new window. I've checked the frame name and actions etc in
flash. Can anyone provide advice on why this isn't working?

What is the link to your page?
Is this something that your school is requiring, or was the
decision to use
Flash nav and frames yours?

Flash navigation and frames / iframes page

For the past few months I've been trying to have a flash file
open a certain html page or php page in either a framepage or an
iframe. In the past I've had no problems with this. I've done it
several times before without any errors. But somwhere along the
launch of internet explorer 7 and or Flash Pro 8. I've not had such
luck.
If you look at the following site:

you will notice that the flash menu system works just fine.
The flash buttons opens the correct pages in the correct windows.
This site was made a few years ago and even with the development of
IE7 and FireFox it still functions the way it should.
Now when making a new site using the EXACT SAME CODE and the
EXACT SAME HTML / PHP CODE (for the frames / iframes) this does not
work
I've mad a quick example of this located at this url:

Any one who can figure out why this is would be greatly
appriciated!!!!

....... It's moments like this that make us programmers feel
really dumb. I can't believe that I've been forgetting the ""
around the window property. That seemed to have done the trick.

How to make the text and frames on a iweb-designed site look universally aligned?

iweb was used to design my site which looks fine on my Mac but the site looks completely different on PC computers - parts of pages are cut off, text is jumbled, images are stretched out. How can the text images be stabilized?

What can be done to make sure the frame stays consistent no matter what browser or resolution accesses the website?

Link flash text to center frame

Hello,
I generated a flash text with dreamweaver. This text should
be a link that opens in the center target frame. The problem is
that I cannot choose the center frame as target (only self, parent,
blank, top).... . What can I do to make the link open in the center
frame?

that' just the code to place the swf file. You need to get
into the .fla file...
However, I think I see what you mean... if you're creating
this entirely in Dreamweaver, then you probably don't have access
to the actual actionscript. It's also limiting when you just place
an flv within Dreamweaver because you can delete skins and many
other things.
how did you generate the text animation within
Dreamweaver?

Scrolling Text and Images in Flash CS3

I am pretty new to Flash and I have spent all day trying to
look up tutorials on making it possible to scroll text and images
in Flash but none of them are working for me. I know you save the
content into a movie clip but that's as far as i have gotten. would
anyone be able to walk me through this PLEASE???

You could use a Swing HTMLPANE or draw it all onto a
BufferedImage and display that (code posted under 2D graphics thread).

Copy and paste text and graphics between Flash and Illustrator

When copying text in Illustrator and pasting them to Flash, some text would become drawing objects and some remain text. A drawing object is not editable. If I import the AI file, then text remains text but the placement of graphics can be a little bit off sometimes.
It's just not possible to copy-and-paste text and graphics from Flash to Illustrator.
Is it just me? If not, when will Adobe have better integration between the 2?

Even though you can change your InDesign preferences for Clipboard Handling to allow formatted information to be pasted into InDesign from other programs, unfortunately Illustrator still won't allow you paste in text with formatting. This is due to how Illustrator and InDesign handle text differently. Even if you copy the text from Illustrator and paste it into a program like Word, which has a lot of different ways to handle formatted text, Illustrator just treats text differently than other Adobe applications.

Box containing text and image (fit frame to contents).

Hi all,
The best way I can describe what I am trying to achieve is to show you a picture.
So essentially, I'm looking to create a grey box, containing some text with an image floating to the right hand side. I want about 2mm space (padding) inside the grey box so no content goes right to the edge and I want the text to wrap around the image. The bit I'm finding tricky is when I go to use the 'Fit frame to content' option. I'm trying to remove the space indicated by the red arrows but if I anchor the image inside the text frame, the grey box shrinks to the height of the text and the image overflows.
This would be incredibly simple to achieve on the web, am I doing something wrong?
Any help/direction would be greatly appreciated.

I understood that you want to have some variable height text frame (the gray box), and that this box should reduce in height to fit the text contained therein, but not less than necessary for the bottom to be 2mm below the bottom edge of the variable height image (which I'm presuming is anchored to the first line of text in the frame) in a case where there is not sufficient text for fit frame to content to avoide making the frame shorter than the bottom of the image.
I believe this could be scripted, but that will still require you to run the script. You should ask over in InDesign Scripting
As far as a container that holds both text and image frames, yes, but only if you "paste into" a new frame after creating the two separately and grouping, which probably is not what you have in mind.

Text and/or repeating frames run off page ...

Please help. It's very hard to believe that Oracle Reports 6i does not have a way of keeping text and/or frames from running off the physical page. My frames and text boxes have thier vertical size set to variable, and I have set page protect to yes, although this does not seems to help.
Will setting the page length to the correct number of lines in between the margins help, there must be a way of keeping this from happening.....please help!

by setting the frame elasticity to variable, you allow the frames to shring and expand regardless of the page-size. to restrict it to a specific page size, the out-most frame must represent the boundries and must be set to fixed.

Load the External text and css file for more frames

       I created one Movie file. In that I load the External text and css file in first frame and display the first variable value in one text box.
And then in 2nd frame I use another one text field and display the 2nd variable value like that I want to load the more variable in more textboxes with different frames.
     I loaded for first variable value in first frame. But I don't know how to do next frames like that..
     Help me...

You need to load them in the frames they are in. You can store the loaded data in variables in frame 1, but you will need to extend that layer so that whatever is stored is avaliable in other frames. The code to load the data into the other textfields can then be done in the frames where it is needed.
There are other options, such as not using other frames for content or having all of them in frame 1 and making them invisible until you get to the other frames where they get turned visible.

Flash Images and text fading in and out

Well this is my first post here, hopefully I'm in the right

I mainly design websites using Dreamweaver, and I use
Photoshop and Fireworks to make graphics. I'm making revisions to
my site, and I wanted to add some animation. I was googleing for

tiff is supported by UIImage, so all you need to do is add the file to your project and drag it onto a content view or UIImageView object in IB, or make a UIImage object in code using imageWithContentsOfFile:.
Text files may be loaded into a NSString object using a method such as stringWithContentsOfFile:encoding:error: and setting the text property of a UITextView object to the string.
However, if your objective is to compose text and images on the fly, UIWebView is the only reasonable choice.
I think UIWebView doesn't support to display images is in tiff format.
Where did you learn that? Have you tried to display the same html with UIWebView and just changed an image reference from jpeg to tiff? All the UIKit classes make use of the same Core Graphics framework, and CG supports tiff (see Supported Image Formats in the +iPhone Application Programming Guide+. There might be more online discussions about iPhone problems with tiff compared to other file formats. I think user complaints about email attachments have added to the buzz about security weaknesses. Do we think MS has figured out a way to generate faxes that can't be read on an iPhone? Who among us could believe such a ridiculous, paranoid delusion?
Anyway as above, if you need to compose pages dynamically, running away from UIWebView is not the solution.

New iMac email acting strange missing and flashing text

Having a problem with mail,
bought my new iMac and setup mailboxes.
all emaiil from comcast server was downloaded (more thaqn 35,000 mail messages)
when browsing mail I noticed mail body text was not showing in the preview window, but the message showed in the list.
I could see the message if I doubleclicked on it and opened it.
sometimes the mail text and images would be flashing and sometimes missing, other times present.
I called Apple support and went through several steps to try and zero in on the problem.
we reset and reindexed.
we created a copy of the mail folder on the desktop
Created a new mailbox and mail seemed to work OK, until the mail folder was imported into the new mailbox, then I had the same weird problem.
somehow, when I went back to my original mailbox, there were none of the old mail items in the mailbox and they were all missing from the mail server.
All the 35,000 emails were gone. It looks like the setting in the new mailbox must have been set to delete emails from the server (maybe as a default)
after a few weeks, the mailbox continued to accumulate emails and I have not seen that problem again.
It appears that there was some mail buffer in the new iMac that got overloaded or exceeded capacity and couldn't handle the 35,000 emails.
But, I need to recover those deleted emails.
Has anyone found the cause for this erratic behavior whith large mail folders?
I still have that old mail folder
how can I restore it and recover those emails, without erasing what I now have (new emails) from the server?
is there a limit on the number of emails on the iMac? my old Mac dual G5 system didn't have this problem.

You could try importing the mailboxes (File ▹ Import Mailboxes) from the old Mail folder, at the risk of possibly corrupting the database again. There is no fixed limit on the number of messages, and the number you had is not unusual. It's corrupt messages that cause problems.
