Flash9b.ocx crash once again

Hi, all
I'd really like to see an official message from Adobe
concerning the issue with Flash9b.ocx crashing in IE. Surely they
must have received a lot of messages from disgruntled users.
I work for an online newspaper and we have several hundred
thousand page impressions every day. And for lots of users our
front page causes the Flash player to crash. It's practically
impossible to isolate which banner ad(s) that will lead to a crash.
My theory is that there are certain ActionScript commands
that are handled in a different manner in the new player, while
swfs that contain only animation will work.

SOLUTION:
Copy: "...windows/system32/macromed/flash/flash9b.ocx"
Paste: it as a copy of flash9b.ocx then...
RENAME: the COPIED FILE to "flash.ocx"
IMPORTANT: do not delete the original flash9b.ocx just make a
copy of named "flash.ocx"
This "fix" has worked a lot of people that have programs or
screen savers that look for the original flash.ocx file which it
can't fine causing in some cases for I.E. to close and the
resultant error message.
When the origin and the mechanism of the crash
known this is a very simple idea. I'll try it and hope it shall fix
the problem.
But I don't understand this: This error occurs allready since
end of January or begin of february 2006 on my computer, visiting a
lot of sites. I spent allready very much of time trying to solve
followed problems. I wrote allready an email to Adobe support and
got not any perheaps only formal politeness answer, not to mention
any suggestion of trying to fix it. I don't know what does this
strategy of Adobe mean :/

    ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlashI'm going to delete all
    references except Flash9.
Very interested - did this work for you?
    Yesterday - I had a
flash9b.ocx crash. But...I went on to some sites that
"requested" the Shockwave player to be installed, yet my homepage
    (Comcast.net) wldn't display if I didn't have it installed!
I checked now to see what I had installed-Flashplayer
    is installed - Adobe - v.9.0.28.
When I was trying to get back to this site, I came across
    Shockwave Player-Windows Version 10.1.4.020 - posted 9/28/2006
    ShockwavePlayer-Windows
    Version.
    But....this site
    Adobe
    Shockwave Player 9.0.28 - posted 11/14/2006.
    I think I'm confused!!!!!!!!!????????????????
    I'm going to
uninstall v9.0.28 - all of it, including making sure my
registry is clean from all entries too. I will then install
    v10.1.4.020.
    I will keep you posted.

  • Flash9b.ocx Crash

I am getting a crash in Flash9b.ocx 9.00.28.0 (everytime the
control loads) with Internet Explorer 6 and Windows XP Profession
SP2 (and I think I had the same issue with Flash Player 8 too). It
appears to be an "invalid opcode" exception on an "emms"
    instruction (at 0x300511F5 when the module is loaded at 0x30000000;
I could tell you more with symbols and/or source). The machine is a
Pentium Pro 200 MHz system with 256 MB of RAM. I know this system
does not support MMX. I am also aware this is the below the cited
system requirements of a Pentium II 450 MHz or better. Does Flash
Player 9 even have an MMX incapable code path? Even if it does not,
it should be noted I received no errors on install or at run-time
(unless you count the crash itself). I think it should probe for
MMX support and give a message at least instead of just crash
(Note: a Pentium Pro is a Family 6 processor without MMX support so
you should probe for MMX and not just processor class).
Besides the obvious bug, if Flash Player does not support my
platform at all (even unofficially) what are my options? I noticed
Flash Player 7 did not have any processor requirements (though I
imagine it requires at least a 386 for Win32 support). Of course I
also noticed Flash Player 7 is no longer supported at all too(only
9 and 8 seem to be currently supported).
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello,
In another thread titled "Flash Player 9 crashes Internet
    Explorer 6"
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=44&catid=184&threadid =1236801&enterthread=y
I described the exact same symptoms as yours.
I too arrived at the same conclusion as you.
I believe that since my Pentium II (200 mhz.) does not
support MMX technology, then that explains why Flash Player 8 and
newer always crash the first time I visit a webpage supporting
    Flash content.
I am wondering if the reason Flash 8 and 9 get installed
without alerting the user that their CPU does not support MMX is
because there is no flag in the Windows configuration file to
indicate that this is the case.
If such a flag exists and is incorrectly set, then perhaps by
changing it, then Flash Player would load with an alternate set of
software routines to mimic the missing hardware instructions.
I am trying to find out more about how the installation of
Windows goes about detecting and advertising the presence or
    absence of MMX.

  • CS5 crashing once again

So i had an issue last week that i resolved by removing a font. If the font is on the system before you open ps, it crashes it..if its not installed i was able to open ps then install the font and use it. today it started crashing again, so i removed the font. still crashing. the faulty module is bib.dll in all instances of the crash where as before it was coolfont.dll...does anyone have any ideas...as far as i knew, bib.dll was a printer dll? thanks in advance.

This might cure your Flash [rpblem:
Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2 and then the latest version obtained from here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash and installed.
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.)

  • Safari crashes once again...

It's incredible, I can't even use Safari to get in google.com, yahoo.com, msn.com, and the list goes on...
This problem only began today, I have looked at some of the other posts with my similar problem and tried many of their solutions, such as...
    1) - Reseting Safari
    2) - Clearing the com.apple.Safari.plist
    3) - Clearing the conflicting fonts
    4) - Clearing the cookies and the caches
    5) - Restarting my computer
    6) - Trying to use Safari with a different user (same thing
    happens)
None of the above helped solve my problem...
I have been trying to fix this problem for over 4 hours now, so any comments or advice would be very appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Crash in Flash9B.OCX

I'm pretty consistently having the Flash Active X Control
crash Internet Explorer 7 on my machine. The callstack is below.
    I'm using IE 7.0.5730.11.
Is there an address to which I can send a minidump? I rattled
through the "contact support" options at the adobe.com website, but
couldn't find a way to simply submit a bug. I ended up opening a
web ticket about a "security issue" because nothing else matched.

  • Flash9b.ocx cuasing explorer too crash.

I am getting error's that keep closing down my explorer they
have too do with flash9.ocx and flash9b.ocx. can someone please
help me with these. I just got kicked off of www.gearsofwar.com.
it has also been happening alot on pogo.com all differant
games there and also on myspace.com.
any help would really be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Brett

Hello, I also recently nailed down my random IE and Firefox
crashing problems to the Flash9b.ocx "Add-on" but have no solution.
It has been quite frustrating and all I have been able to do is
disable it from the Tools|Manage Add-ons menu in IE. Any other
solution would be appreciated. Thanx. ~

  • Flash9b.ocx gets 0xC0000005 (AV) in IE7

    Hi all,
Is there any solution to this widespread problem?
I'm running IE7 on Windows Vista. IE crashes about once a day
with a 0xC0000005 exception. So I took the option to debug the
program, and found Flash9b.ocx at the top of the call satck (see
    below).
There doesn't appear to be any support avenue via Adobe -
Player support is limited to installation. The Flash Player
installs fine (in fact, I'd rather *stop* it from getting
installed!). This crash is obviously a runtime issue and an invalid
    memory reference.
In some other forum posts, it was suggested the culprit may
be bad sites/URLs, which run bad code. That may be; but I sure wish
Flash Player was just a little bit more resilient, against unstable
input code. After all, you're already watching out for buffer
    overruns, etc - right??
I'm incredibley annoyed and frustrated by this problem. Based
on forum posts, it appears to be quite widespread, too - not
isolated to one or two unusual configurations. Has a solution been
found yet? If not, what is Adobe doing to find a solution and what
    is the ETA?
Personally I have no interest in using Flash, or paying for
support - I only run the Flash Player, because some websites
erronrously believe Flash is useful, and I need the Player to view
the sites. If Flash had some kind of reporting tool so I could
automatically send crash data back to Adobe, that would be a
    workaround.
    Thanks
    Andrew McLaren

    Hi Darren and Adobe guys,
I just had the same crash while using flash9c.ocx version 9.0
    r45:
"Unhandled exception at 0x30099baf in iexplore.exe:
0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000."
The new r45 version has not fixed the problem. I included the
call stack at the bottom of this post. It very closely resembles
the call stack I got from flash9b.ocx; so, it's probably the same
    crash.
It seems like the crash tends to happen shortly after I have
opened several new Tabs in Internet Explorer, in quick succession -
say, I'll have 5 or 6 Tabs open at the same time. There's nothing
special about the several URLs, except they all point towards web
pages that include a small amount of Flash. This is just a
subjective impression, but thats all I can tell about what sets it
    off.
So I 'm guessing there may be some kind of race condition?
Some global variable gets wiped inappropriately because it is
accessed by multiple threads, or the like.
This is a really frustrating issue, so if there's anything
you'd like me to do to collect more data, let me know. Are there
any Flash Play diagnostics I can turn on via the registry, or the
    like?
    Regards

  • Once again, I need help...I'm starting to hate this board

Ok, I'm going to start from the beginning. When I first built this computer last year, (specs at the bottom) everything ran seemlessly. I upgraded to WinXP and no problems. Then my hardrive started screwing up around mid-summertime. The computer would freeze, crash, ect. Various things. After doing some research, running diagnostics and calling IBM, it was decided that the drive had gone bad. So I took it out, and bought a new western digital. After installation of the drive, and installing XP on the newly formatted drive, I expected everything to work fine. It didn't. First, there were blue and black screens of death. Sometimes the blue screens would mention something about IRQ's not less or equal, sometimes something else. Sometimes the computer would just restart for no reason. So I reformatted again. This fixed the blue screen problem and for about a day, everything (I thought) was cool. Think again. To start, I couldn't run any 3d application for an extended period of time without it freezing. And if I set the CPU to 1.2 ghz (where it should be!) it gets even worse. I even tried uping the voltage a little. No help. Sometimes the computer would just (once again) restart for no reason. Especially while using winamp. I tried different drivers, different bioses, readjusting my fan on my cpu, running memtest86 (which showed the memory to be fine). I have read through MANY threads on the forums and tried many other things, with no luck. The current situation, after attempting to install WinXP servicepack 1 is that I cant even load Windows. It always gets to the point where the blue bar is moving across while it says WinXP, and then the computer restarts. I ran tests to check how the powersupply was running during use, nd all the numbers looked good. The thing that really pisses me off, is that everything use to work fine, before the IBM drive crashed. Guys, I need some expertise and a Beer. I can do the second one myself and will gladly get a case for whoever can help me straighten this out! Even if I just have some part that needs replaced, I just need answers! Thanks guys!
    Athlon 1.2 ghz 266fsb
    Msi nforce k7n420pro
    300W powersupply
    Integrated graphics
    256 mb Crucial memory
    yamaha 24x burner
    kenwood 52x cdrom
    floppy drive
d-link wireless network card (could this be a problem? I was having problems before I got this card)

All these guys with there power supply is a bunch of bunk and the combine this and that. a decent 300w psu will run the nforce with onboard vid or a geforce 3 easely. and forget all the combined crap.
Heres what my 300watt power could handle before I gave it to my kid.
    MoBo.
    1900xp
    Geforce3
    Scsi card
    Modem
    2- IBM 60 GB 7200rpm
    Cold cathode ray tube 12"
    CD ROM
    Smart media reader
And whatever else I plugged into the usb port and the only time I ever had Maveric's problem, which I had the same thing was when switch system driver from 1.0 to 1.05 they gave me the same thing he is having. so I stayed with the 1.0 until the 1.13's came along and they worked well.
I suggest his is a driver issue IRQ not less then, Bksod or random restarts or other blue screen errors.
    Try the 1.00's
Oh by the way now my kid uses my old 300watter on his 1900xp nforce machine, with all kind of toys and his is also stable. So Wonky and Athlonix quit suggesting that a 300psu is not sufficent when in fact it may work very well. oh and one more thing Athlonix GET OFF THE SOUND CARD THING!!! the onboard works, can't you get that in your head. Only yours doesn't every one elses does. can someone draw a picture of that
    Jim.

  • Flash9b.ocx Missing

    Hi all,
I wondered if someone can help. My pc recently updated to
Flash player 10 but it seems to have left registry keys referring
to flash9b.ocx which is causing a problem with my HP Solution
Center which is disabling my ability to print, scan and copy etc.
It also seems to be slowing my pc down. I have found a temporary
solution. I have to keep reinstalling the HP software which fixes
the problem for about 2 to 3 days and then the problem comes back
stating that flash9b.ocx cannot be found. Flash9b.ocx certainly
does not exist. I've tried uninstalling flash player with the
uninstall tool from adobe but that makes no difference. I've tried
to delete the flash player 9 registry keys but they keep coming
back after rebooting my pc. I have Windows XP professional. I've
also tried to unregister the flash9b.ocx file from the registry
which says it was successful but still remains in the registry. Am
I doing something wrong and how can I stop this error. I've also
contacted HP about this problem but there advice seems to be to
reinstall the HP software which I am doing but the problem only
    goes away temporarily.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Karen;
I am using XP and I have uninstalled and the flash player and
am still receiving the message that Flash9b.oxc is missing and my
computer keeps crashing. I have now removed all Adobe products from
the computer to see if this fixes the problem.
Even after uninstalling all Adobe products. I still have
FlashUtil9.exe that I cannot delete. Something is WRONG with this
    picture.

  • HP Solution Center error "flash9b.ocx failed to register"

I have a similar Flash9b.ocx faied to register problem that I have been trying to solve for several weeks. It started after I upgraded to the latest Flash Player 10.3.183.7 via the official Adobe website. After this upgrade on start up I got the following HP Solution Centre (printer software) error message:
C:\Windows:\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9b.ocx failed to register. HRESULT-2147220473. Contact your support personnel.
Further investigation confirmed that Flash Player had stopped working and where the image should be there was a blank black box. I tried reinstalling the latest version of Flash Player again but it made no difference. I was prompted to insert the original Solution Centre disk to solve the problem and although I tried this, it had no effect. I uninstalled Solution Centre including manually deleting any HP files that had been left behind and did a complete reinstall of the latest version including relevant patches from the HP website. This appears to have solved the problem as far as the Solution Centre error messages are concerned. However, on further investigation I found the Flash9b.ocx file mentioned above no longer exists but Flash Player still isn’t working.
I am running Vista (32bit) with all the current upgrades and Internet Explorer version 9.0.8112.16421 update version 9.0.2 (KB2559049)
    Thanks for your help

After more than two weeks of trying, I finally found a solution to my HP Solution Centre Flash Player 10 conflict. Below is what worked for me and if you have a similar problem I hope this posting is of some use. uninstall Solution Centre & reinstall the latest version plus all the relevant patches from the HP website. Reset browser settings which in my case was IE 9 (Internet Options, Advanced tab, Reset) followed by a restart. Then uninstall Flash Player (Control Panel, Programs & Features, Uninstall) followed by another restart. Finally go to Adobe website and download the latest version of Flash Player.
    Hope this helps

  • Flash9b.ocx error in Solution Centre

    Hi guys,
My pc recently automatically updated flash player to flash 10 so it seems to have removed all the old files including flash9b.ocx but seems to have left the registry keys present.  Solution Centre constantly asks for the installation CD when the pc boots and randomly whilst working on the pc.  I've tried deleting the registry keys but they seem to come back even after I have deleted them.  Because Solution Centre fails to load I am unable to print to my J6410 networked printer.  I cannot scan, copy, fax or print anything and my machine is terribly slow following the CD installer pop up message.
Does anyone know how I can fix this problem ?  I can't find any article on the HP forums about the problem.  I've tried to uninstall the HP software and printer and reinstall it.  That seems to fix it for about 2 or 3 days and then the problems appear again and I have to keep doing the reinstall to fix it.  I don't want to keep doing that.
    Thanks,
    Chris

HP does not seemed be concerned with the growing number of problems with Adobe Flash.  In today's SANS NewsBites May 01, 2009                    Volume: XI, Issue: 34, in the section VULNERABILITIES Adobe Acknowledges Reader and Acrobat Flaws (April 28 & 29, 2009)
(www.sans.org/newsletters/newsbites/newsbites.php?vol=11&issue=34#sID307)the comment by one of the editors (Pescatore) about Adobe Flash is significant and cause for concern.  That HP does not update their driver suite to remove flash (and allow the user to install the current versions without problems) and not have to reinstall the Solution Center shows how little they value security and customer satisfaction.
    Bad HP, bad.

  • Flash9B.ocx error problem

I run Norton System Doctor regularly as well as
    RegistryBooster2.
Just recently (this week) WinDoctor gives me the unfixable
    message:
    "CLSID\{1171A62F-05D2-11D1-83FC-00A0C9089C5A}\InprocServer32,"
    refers to a missing file,
    "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9b.ocx.".
RegistryBooster2 says it's fixed all errors, but it hasn't
    fixed this problem.
I have deleted Flash, run WinDoctor and RegistryBooster2,
then reinstalled Flash, but nothing seems to work. Obviously the
file Flash9b.ocx is not there and my Flash floder contains another
edition of that file (Flash9e.ocx), but my registry will not adapt.
I continue to get this error message. How do I fix this
problem? I have never delved into the Registry so please relate any
suggested fix in simple, step-by-step instructions.

    Hi guys,
I would maintain that this is NOT a proper solution. I
thought of this right off and sure it works but it does NOT change
the fact that there is still an improper and no longer used
registry entry referring to a file which NO LONGER EXISTS. Making a
copy of the file may HIDE the problem but it does NOT fix it.
I am a software developer myself and it is inexcusable that
Adobe is not fixing this problem. They have an absolute
responsibility to clean up their own registry entries folks!
I have seen registry problems creep up over time because it
is so common for software vendors to leave obsolete STUBS in OUR
system registry when you uninstall or upgrade an application! Over
time the registry can get so many of these OBSOLETE entries that
your system can start to run slower over time and possibly cause
    other problems.
This is exactly why I use Norton Systemworks Premier to
monitor my registry as I'm sure many others do as well. The problem
here is that Adobe's BUG is so nasty that even Norton Systemworks
cannot remove the offending registry entry! I also CANNOT remove it
manually even though of course I have full Admin rights.
ADOBE MUST FIX THIS PROBLEM. I have reported this BUG to them
but am still waiting for a response - maybe they want to ignore it
but I for one will NOT let this go.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Being a software developer myself and understanding how this
works I still maintain there is no excuse for this kind of problem
    to exist.
I for one maintain that MICROSOFT should make this a
condition of getting official Windows CERTIFICATION - e.g., they
should test UPGRADE, UNINSTALL, etc and REFUSE to grant
certification until the software vendor cleans up all their
    registry entries appropriately.
Trust me, if MS did this we would not have problems like this
because who does not want to have MS certification for their
    software products??
Folks, sorry if I sound negative but it's just not right for
us to have to deal with this kind of issue.
My suggestion: If EVERYONE would send in a bug report on this
issue, the "noise" would get so loud that Adobe would have no
choice but to fix this issue once and for all.
Ok, I'll get off my soap-box now. :)

  • I am on windows 7 and I upgraded to 10.0.2 and now it will not open. I have removed firefox completely and uploaded it again and that did not work. So my latest attempt I removed firefox 10 again and uploaded the beta version and once again nothing.

I am on windows 7 and I upgraded to the newest verison of firefox and now it will not open. I have removed firefox completely and uploaded it again and that did not work. I then made sure it could get through my firewall and that did not work. So my latest attempt I removed firefox 10 again and uploaded the beta version hoping that would do it and once again nothing. It will not open at all. Please help - is there a live chat or a number to talk to someone at Firefox?

I think when uninstalling you may also have to choose (tick) to delete the preferences and other personal data like the bookmarks, stored passwords etc. to erase completely. If you are installing afresh, please try right-clicking on the file and '''Run as administrator''' to install. And when uninstalling, please also make sure choose to delete all data and also manually delete any '''Mozilla''', '''Mozilla Firefox''' or '''Firefox''' from %appdata%, %localappdata% and %programfiles%. You can open a location by typing for eg. %appdata% in the '''Run''' box (Windows key + R). You may also have to check the '''VirtualStore''' folder in %localappdata%. Files in the VirtualStore can be problematic. I think a clean installation may help.

Please note that using system restore would usually damage the Firefox installation.

  • MDT 2012 deploy OS from USB external drive failed - need to unplug and plug it once again

We are using MDT 2012 and deploying Windows 7 using media (USB external hard drive). We can successfully deploy Windows 7 32 bit using this method but there is a problem with deploying Windows 7 64bit. This problem appears only on HP EliteBook 840. We can
boot into WinPE 64 bit and can start proper task sequence, all image is applied then after restart, before logon screen appears there is an error saying that cannot find litetouch.vbs script. After clicking ok, I can logon to Windows and there is no usb external
drive recognized. But when I unplug and plug usb drive once again it is recognized by Windows and can be used. I can see that Windows install some drivers just after plug it again
I checked BIOS looking for some USB power options - there is no such settings. And 32 bit deployment works ok. So this is not a case. Looks for me like a problem with proper usb drivers for 64 bit. I download all drivers from HP website (driver pack and
drivers only for USB 3.0). We are using make and model matching in MDT - works ok for all the rest hardware models. Any idea how to troubleshoot it?

Not sure what's going on here. Is this a USB "Flash" drive or a USB "Hard Drive". There *Is* a distinction.
I *thought* that MDT would copy itself to the c:\minint\scripts folder to continue installation.
Next time, when you see this error, Press Shift-F10 to get into a cmd.exe prompt. Can you find litetouch.vbs on any of the drives? Does the USB Drive appear?
IF in fact, the USB Drive is not appearing after the 1st reboot, then you have a problem. Why did the USB 3.0 driver not install. Check the Driver Installation Logs to verify.
