Flex Air & SSH or FTP ... ??

I am new to flex, and was wondering if it were possible to
create a Flex Air application that can access a server using SSH or
the FTP socket? What I want to do is have a program that downloads
some necessary files from a server and save it to the local machine
running the Flex Air Application.
Is this possible? If so, can anyone point me in the right
direction to some documentation or tutorials?
Thanks.
Rob

Hello, I've create 2 library sshcmd.swc and scpcmd.swc with adobe air 2.0 to create applications that can send files and commands to remote hosts using ssh. Same that putty.
Actually is compatible with windows air applications.

  • Example working Flex AIR app for Android?

I'm having trouble getting even the most basic AIR app working on Android. Here is the code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:WindowedApplication xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
                            xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
                            xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" xmlns:local="*"
                            width="600" height="600">
         <fx:Declarations>
<!-- Place non-visual elements (e.g., services, value objects) here -->
         </fx:Declarations>
         <mx:Label text="Hello World"/>
    </s:WindowedApplication>
It works fine running on  Windows in Flash Builder, obviously it's pretty simple. Here are the  commands I use to put it on a Samsung Galaxy Tab with Android 2.2.
    C:\Users\Ryan\Adobe  Flash Builder 4\Test2\bin-release>adt -package -storetype pkcs12  -keystore C:\Users\Ryan\STG-Android.pfx Test2.air Test2-app.xml  Test2.swf
    password:
    C:\Users\Ryan\Adobe Flash Builder 4\Test2\bin-release>adt -package  -target apk -storetype pkcs12 -keystore C:\Users\Ryan\STG-Android.pfx  Test2.apk Test2-app.xml Test2.swf
    password:
    test
    C:\Users\Ryan\Adobe Flash Builder 4\Test2\bin-release>adb install -r Test2.apk
    2286 KB/s (419172 bytes in 0.179s)
             pkg: /data/local/tmp/Test2.apk
    Success
A Test2 app icon shows up on my Galaxy Tab  under Applications but when I run the app I just see a plain white  screen, I don't see the words "Hello World". Any ideas? Does anyone have  an example Flex AIR app that works on Android and can post the code so I  can try it on my Galaxy Tab? I know AIR is installed correctly on my  Galaxy because I installed an AIR app called South Park Avatar Creator  that I got from the market and it works fine.
    Thanks,
    Ryan
P.S.  Here is the Test2-app.xml from my non-working project above in case it  helps. This is the default generated with a new Flex app in Flash  Builder 4 using the Flex 4.1.0 AIR 2.5 SDK but I uncommented the andoid  tags and set the visible tag to true.

  • Adobe Flex/AIR Photo Booth Software

    Hi,
I hope everyone is doing well.
Is it possible to build a Photo Booth software like
    http://www.photoboof.com/
    http://sparkbooth.com/features/
    etc. using Adobe Flex/AIR ?
I know that we can build desktop applications using Flex/AIR. But I have a very little experience in building desktop applications. Most of the times I had worked on web applications. The Photo Booth software demands to detect digital camera connected to computer/Laptop and then work on the basis of what camera captures. It is like creating a web application that works with media server and
use computer/laptop webcam. Please guide me how can I start or plan for this software.
    Regards
    Varun

From What I've found.. it seems 3ivx or Perian could cause this problem. A friend had this issue and deleted 3ivx and it fixed his crashes. Alternatively, some folks are reporting that turning off 32-bit mode (Get Info) for Photobooth has also fixed, although this was already turned off in my friend's case. Or if you have iGlasses installed.

  • How to include different Character Sets in Flex AIR project

    Hi All,
    Flex, AIR(Desktop) Project.
    PROBLEM Scenario:
My Application needs a path from Windows registry, So I am launching a .cmd file using Native Process API.
As a result I get a text file with the path.
So, everything works fine(reading/writing), but if the path contains different languages like Korean, Chinese then the READING OPERATION IS FAILED only when I install the application. It works fine while debugging.
(By failing I mean its not getting the characters, its printing some junk values.)
I am using readMultibyte & writeMultibyte APIs, and I am assiging the character set dynamically as per the OS language. (Which is Enslish in current scenario)
    FINDING:
I installed Windows with Korean Language on a system, so now if I build the .exe on this machine then it works fine. So, i guess its not able to get the Korean Character set from the English OS, thats why it failed in earlier case.
Is there any way to include different character sets in a Flex project?
    Regards,
    Mayank

Some loaded SWFs may not be compatible with Flex.  Try making a simpler SWF (like one that just draws a circle where you click) and see if it can be loaded and interacted with.

  • Interactive medical report with Flex/AIR, XML, U3D and PDF

    Hello,
I am computer science student and during my master thesis I want to program an interactive medical report which should include some 3D models (U3D) and which should provide the following options:
Interactive manipulation of the 3D models
Typing in a structured medical report
Loading of a XML file with additional information
Loading of medical image data (jpg images)
At best, only one pdf file as resulting report
And: A nice user interface (I like the interface elements of Flex...)
I think, the best way is a pdf file which includes all the needed data. The problem is that I don't know exactly what software combination fulfills my requirements... I read some things about Adobe Flex and AIR and the U3D format and I suppose, the great interface builder "Flash Builder 4" might be useful to generate a nice user interface. BUT: I was not able to find out, how to include U3D in Flex/AIR.
Then I found the nice pdf library iText (http://itextpdf.com/examples/index.php?page=chapters) which is able to produce a pdf file from a swf file and to include a U3D-model with an additional JavaScript file for manipulations.
BUT again: If I have a swf flash file with the nice user interface (generated with the Flash Builder), how can I access the U3D model in the final pdf document? Imagine: I click on a "rotate" button in the swf and then the U3D-Model in the pdf should rotate...
Ok, as you can see, it is a complex szenario.
    My questions summarized:
What, in your opinion, is the best technology for my task? Flex? AIR?
How can I import the U3D-models? Should I use PaperVision, Sandy3D or something else?
Is there a way to save user inputs directly in the pdf file, or as new pdf file or as xml file?
What is the best way to produce the user interface? Flashbuilder, or maybe a html container with "normal" html interface elements and then the events communication between JavaScript and ActionScript?
How can I export all the stuff to one pdf document? Should I use iText?
    Best regards,
    Steven

Thanks for making my point - perfect is the enemy of good.  We tolerate less capable, less perfect system that are in place now, because of the false expectation that it should be perfect.  Incremental improvements are rejected, because they are not perfect.  Even an imperfect algorithm can find 'Broken' as a common thread in your example, and highlight them for the clinician to evaluate their impact on the current treatment.  This no less likely to miss the connection than a clinician trying to scan through handwritten notes, in the 5 - 10 minutes he/she has to interact with the patient and determine what to do.
Because of legal concerns, incremental but imperfect improvements don't get implemented, so nothing ever moves forward.  Imagine if after the Wright Brothers first flight, no improvements were considered acceptable unless they completely eliminated the risk of failure - there wouldn't be any airlines to go bankrupt today!
For the most part, IT has focused on activities where 'perfect' is achievable.  Accounting in its various forms have been the primary focus of most IT systems.  In that area, the vocabulary is very limited, well defined, and consistent.  A debit is always a debit, and a credit is always a credit.  Medicine is completely different. It is much larger in scope, poorly defined, the vocabularies are mostly non-existent, and where they exist are incomplete and inconsistent.  Despite the huge leaps forward in the last century, there is still more unknown than known about how and why the body works.  This environment makes most individuals trained in IT uncomfortable.  Until we learn how to deal with 'fuzzy', Healthcare IT is going to be limited to the billing and collection functions that it mostly accomplishes today.

  • Flex Air Apps on Blackberry

I've had a Flex Air app on Playbook since it Adobe first supported Blackberry.  But, I haven't had a client requirement for deploying to Blackberry in a long time.  What is the status on Adobe's support for Blackberry?  On the Air Dev Center, I see no references to Blackberry anymore???
Can I still build a cross-platform app for latest Blackberry devices (Blackberry 10, Playbook, etc.) using the standard Flex mobile components and Flash Builder 4.6?
After a brief search on Blackberry's Air page, it looks like they moved to requiring the QNX components, ANEs and a new pure AS3 SDK only.  If I have to re-write code specific for Blackberry now, then it makes no sense for me to offer that to my clients. (unless they only want BB).
So, where does Adobe stand now with Flex Mobile in Flash Builder deploying to Blackberry 10 and the Playbook?
I'd appreciate if you could help bring me back up to speed.
    Thanks,
    Don

Absolutely, Flex works very well indeed and is fully supported on BlackBerry PlayBook and BB10 devices. The free packaging module for Flash Builder is part of the BB SDK for AIR and is supplied by RIM, not by Adobe.
With Flex you'll of course be using Adobe UI components, which look less native than the BB-supplied "pure AS3" UI components unless you skin them. But they work just fine.

  • PDF Not loading anymore on Flex Air Application

    Hi,
Ever since I updated my Adobe Readed to Version 11, I can't view any PDF on my Flex Air Application anymore. Is there anything i need to do?
    AIR version: 3.6
    OS: Mac OS X
    Flex Builder: 4.6
    Adobe Reader: 11.0.02
    Flex components used: mx:HTML
    Please help.
    Thanks!

Yes.  This is a well known bug in Air/Google Maps.  A lot of folks reported it on the Google Maps forums and here.  It was reported over a year ago with no action yet.  Major show stopper.
For this main reason, I switched to the http://developer.mapquest.com AS3 API.  Plus they also recently released a Mobile Flash API that works great.
I suggest you check it out because I don't anticipate any action on this issue on either side any time soon.
    Good luck!

  • Time Capsule and ssh or ftp

    Dear All,
I got a Time Capsule which is plugged into a network. I entered an static ip address. I disabled the wireless, but I think to enable it later.
I would like to be able to firstly download or upload document, from home or from any computer, with ssh or with ftp.
I could not find how to do it.
(I do no have it yet with me) If I am not wrong from NAT tab, I can activate services. Isaw somethink like "file sharing", " ssh service", "ftp service".
I tryed to configure ssh, but without success.
Some one could give me soe tips to use Time Capsule via ssh, to upload and download files.
(I do not really like ftp, because is not really secure and I think sftp is not available with Time Capsule)
    Many thank

But finnaly it does not matter if I can not ssh. Can I use rsync?
Actually, time capsule is plug the the netwrok and has an ip adress fix.
I have a mac contected into the same network.
What I absultely need, is to be able to see the content of the Time capsule from my macbook pro (in command line, it is also fine)
And would it be possible to use rsync to back up my data and restore it?
You can configure your Time Capsule to share its disk over the WAN (AirPort Utility Disks/Disks panel), which would include the Internet. A MobileMe account (f you have or are willing to buy one) would make it easy to connect to your Time Capsule when you are away from your LAN, but if your Time Capsule has a static WAN IP address, there should be a way to connect to it from the Internet. In the Finder menu Go -> Connect to Server menu I believe the format would be "afp://xxx.xx.xx.xx", where the x's represent that IP address. If I don't have these details exactly correct, someone else should be able to help.

  • QTP with flex/air addin hangs during test execution

While executing the QTP tests (version 11.0) that includes Flex/Air plug in on a Flex/Air application, it simply hangs for no reason.
Any resolutions to this is appreciated.

    Hey Guys,
This is strange. But it got resolved, after renaming the Sap.txt file in QC to SAP.txt and adding and deleting this library file multiple times from the application SAPDOC.
if SAP TAO development team is reading this, guys you need to sort this problem out, coz there was no real reason of failure and then it got resolved on its own.

  • Is it possible to converted Presenter 7 to a FLEX / AIR desktop app?

I have an Adobe Presenter 7 course with multiple modules.  These are PowerPoint files converted to flash with Presenter 7.  I want to make them available as desktop applications by using Flex / Air.  Can this be done?
I am a novice in these applications, but a quick learner.  Please let me know if it is possible and kindly point me in the right direction.  Thanks for your help.
    Bob

Wow, thanks so much Bob - that is some absolutely fantastic information.
I converted one of my Presenter courses to a fully functional EXE file in about 5 minutes with the SWF Maestro Exe trial!  I have been trying for years to find a solution to turn my Presenter files into single, flat file and that seems to do exactly what I need.
Your sample training course is really nice - you did a great job with it!  I know how much work it can be to get the PPT file, transitions and audio to work just right like you have.  I have 15 eLearning files that have hundreds of hours of work on each one!

  • SWF generate from Flex AIR

    Hi.
My Application scenario it's apparently easy.
    1) I have written AIR application where I have inside MovieClip/Component or something simlar.
    2) Through my AIR application i draw on my MovieClip/Component some circles and add image.
    3) I get this MovieClip/Component and generate te external .swf file. Now You can grab that .swf file and put anywhere You want.
And Point 3 it's really problematic. How I can generate .SWF file from Flex AIR? Or maybe other ideas how I can realize that scenario??
    Cheers.

Send information to the server so it can compile the SWF

  • Is there any MS Sql Server connector available for Flex Air.?

    hi,
I want to connect my flex Air application with MS Sql server.* directly without any server side scripting. I got MySql Connector , which is available in  (http://code.google.com/p/assql/downloads/list). Like this is there any connector is available .Please share it

I do have exactly the same questions. SO far the fas_mssql_connector.asp file is placed at the 'wwwroot' folder of the 'inetpub' folder of the IIS server. As hostname I use '[MyServer]' since it should run on the same machine and username and password are correct.
The fas_MSsql_Clean file is setup in a way that the name of the database is specified and the url to the asp file is set as: http://[MyServer]/fas_mssql_connector.asp
My SQL query looks like this:
    private function getDbData():void
        mssqlQuery("Select * from Tomat", "getDataO3");
And the MXML document like this:

    Hi,
This should be possible. Sounds pretty interesting. Let us
    know what happens of this.

  • Where is the Flex/AIR SDK?

Adobe used to release a combined SDK for Flex and Air that could be used with Flash Builder. There is still a link with this description on the Air SDK download page.
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/air-sdk-download.html
However, the combined SDK does not appear on the gaming page. There is only something new called the Gaming SDK.
    http://gaming.adobe.com/getstarted/
Is the Flex/AIR SDK available somewhere for AIR 3.5? Or do I need to get the Gaming SDK?

There is also an AIR SDK outside the gaming SDK. I am looking for the Flex/AIR combination.
