Flex Automatic Version

I want my Flex Application to update it's version automatically. For example I want it to be when I compile it, it adds a number to a build, when I release a build, it adds a version something a long those lines where I don't manually have to update every single time.
I found this article, but I'm not sure how to implement it. He talks about adding a custom builder, which I don't know how to and therefore I'm lost.

WebROB is an awesome utility for using C# and Flex (and
completely FREE). You can connect directly to any C# function.
Ditch the automatic code, it is extremely slow.
To set up WebORB just install it, then copy the dll's to your
C# project's bin folder. Copy the WEB-INF folder to the root of
your project as well as the weborb.config and add the reference in
your web.config.
It's semi-tricky to figure out but I got it working
flawlessly and its awesome. You can bind a DataTable or DataSet
directly to Flex.

ScriptUI and Flex SDK version

Hello,
what is the last Flex SDK version supported by ScriptUI?
It seems I'm having troubles loading a swf made with Flex 4.5 (Flash project, not AIR).
I've been told that 3.6 is the latest, usable SDK - yet I'm afraid it could be a permission issue (the error says: "Error #2032: Stream Error. URL: /Volumes/Macintosh HD/DEVELOPER/myExtension/GUI_Test/resources/framework_4.5.0.20967.swf")

I confirm that with Flex SDK 3.6 the problem disappears - following versions are not supported (alas). You can download it here.

CF8 Flex SDK Version and Update

I'm new to Flex so this is probably a basic question. When
creating a new Flex project I have an option, under the Flex SDK
version (properties of the particular project) to select either a
specific SDK or the server's SDK. Now I have CF8 installed as my
application server. Is there a way to tell what version of the Flex
SDK is installed with CF8? If it's an older version, or when Flex 3
SDK is finalized, how do I go about "upgrading" the Flex SDK in the
CF8 install?

Flex SDK version 4.5.1 upgrade issue

I recently upgraded from Flex SDK version 4.1.0.16076 to 4.5.1 and this upgrade broke one of the key functionalities in my application.
Wherever the s:DataGroup itemRenderer's s:RichText textFlow has <img> element, it throws the following error in debug Flash player:

Has anyone seen this issue? Any idea on how to fix it? Please help!

I created a new simple Flex project to recreate the issue but I'm unable to reproduce the error condition.
Is there any other way I can provide the needed information? Can you point me to what you refer to as sample test case, so that I can provide you the info in appropriate form.

You need to use file:// as the protocol instead of C:/. The latter may never work (C:\ might).
Where is the main HTML located ?
Easiest if to store the images in a sub folder of the location because you can't go back via ../ beyond that root location for security reasons.

What I've done is remove osmf.swc from the Flex 4.0 sdk, then I added the new osmf.swc file to my libs folder for my project. Is there a for updating osmf in Flex 4.0 it works nativly with the sdk. The original reason why I got errors was because the frameworks/projects/osmf/src/OSMFClasses.as packages in Flex 4 were not the same as the new osmf.swc (most of the flex 4 swc have these package reference files). So those would have to be updated every time the osmf packages change.

Automatic version update - some problems

Hi,
on SQLD startup (1184) info about new updates has appeared.
After dowloading and installing (check for updates dialog) I was prompted to restart SQLD. After restart I looked in About/extensions (see below), all components seem to be 1.3 and up.
Then I have just for quriosity started "check for updates" once more and it found 3 more updates (while they were already installed), I have installed them, then repeat the cycle - seems that these 3 updates will be shown as new available updates forever.

Following scenario causes problems:
1) Check for automatic updates for Developer (uncheck extensions)
2) Download all available updates
3) Choose to restart now
4) Nothing happens (can't close, you know)
5) Close with Task manager
6) Launch Developer
7) Get following error message:
"Failed to rollback task:
oracle.ideimpl.webupdate.task.DeinstallExtensionTask@2f0df1"
Underneath the message box there is a small window titled "Installing updates" with progress bar which shows 2 full completed vertical bars.
8) After that - all my connections ar gone (oh, the pain...), and help/about shows that I'm still using version 1.0.0.11.84 / Build-MAIN-11.84
Environment - Windows 2k, some connections to multiple databases were open.
9) I tried automatic update again, using the same scenario (update only SQL Developer) but this time it shows that no updates ar available.
EDIT:
BUT the closing bug seems to be gone, something must have happened.

Flex trial version "Run" exception

Hi everybody,
I recently downloaded trial version of Flex and started to do "Flex in a week" videos.
Problem: exception occurs during Run. The following pop-up window appears:
Windows: No Disk
Exception Processing Message C 0000013 Parameters 75b6bf9c 4 75b6bf9c 75b6bf9c
Then screen freezes and pop-up window cannot be closed. I had to manually close entire Flex and then close exception window.
I have Windows XP.
I would really appreciate somebody's help. Flex looks like good stuff and I truly want to learn it.

Flash/Flex Buider versions & Error #1053: Illegal override

I recently upgraded to FlashBuilder 4, rebuilt my FlexBuilder 3.2 apps, and continually hit "Error #1053: Illegal override" runtime errors. I had to rebuild all dependent libraries with FB4 to get things to work.
Based on http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/SDK-14464 (second comment from bottom), it appears that the Adobe best practice is that all code should/must be compiled with the same version of FB.
Does anyone know of any way to workaround this limitation? Furthermore, how is it possible for 3rd party vendors to provide Flex libraries without also providing source code?

I am getting this message and updated my flash player to
version 9.0.45 and now flex is saying that it can't find a valid
version of the flash player and that I may need to install flash 9
or reinstall flex. I did both of these and it did not work. Does
anyone have any suggestions. I have been complete incapable of
setting up a coldfusion flex development environment on xp that
works. I installed CF into IIS and it is working fine. I have
installed FB 2 as a default install. I then went step by step
through this tutorial (

and ran the application and it blows up. I would REALLY like to
learn flex and begin to develop some applications but I can't get

How to create the version(automatically) of the document if the status has been changed once the document has been released and comes to Change request?

Go to DC10 and check the Version Assignment tab for auto versioning
After that, if you want to make new version , go to CV01n put the Document number , type etc and click enter..
You will get a promt saying "New version copied from ..."
So new version would be created..

How to make the scroll bar in flex automate to focus on the new ui component added in the canvas?

Hi all ,
There is a canvas container where am adding charts in separate windows.
So whenever a new chart is added the scroll bar needs to set the focus on the present chart window.
For this i made the functionality for the canvas container to scroll whenever a new chart is added using the below code
canvasContainer.verticalScrollPosition = canvasContainer.maxVerticalScrollPosition;
But the calculations for the vertical position are not precise...
Is there anything else I should do to make the scroll happen automatically as the chart windows get added in the container ??

Flash Islands Tutorial I - Confusion with Flex/Flash Builder Versions

Hi Guys,
i am new to the Adobe Flex/Flash Islands technology and tried to implement Tutorial I by Thomas Jung. Unfortunately i am confused by the various different versions for flex and the corresponding IDE's.
As far as i understood SAP at the moment only supports Flex versions up to version 3.3 for NetWeaver 7 EHP1. Furtheron the Adobe Charting Components (used in the Tutorial) seem to be part of the Flex Builder Professional Version only.
So i went to the Adobe Website and looked into the products and download areas. All i found was Flash Builder 4.5 Premium and the various Adobe and Open Source Flex SDK versions. I am using Flash Builder 4.5 as a trial right now. Unfortunately the Charting Components are not included.
So the question i have is whether the Charting Components (e.g. <mx:BarChart /> )are included in the non Trial version of Flash Builder 4.5 Premium or whether there is any possibility to get them as an Add-On. Or do i have to use Flex Builder 3 Professional (i found no information about this on the Adobe Website)?
Additional Hint:
I found out that when i compile the poject with Flex SDK vesion 3.6 or higher, the compiler knows the <mx:BarChart /> tag. Also in that case the view designer is working. However FlashIslands is only supported up to Flex SDK 3.3. But when i choose 3.3 the <mx:BarChart /> tag and some other related tags are unknown.
This is a really anoying issue.

wtith Web Dynpro, you can only use Flex SDK version 3.3 and downwards. You can download the SDK here [http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/DownloadFlex3]
Flash Builder ships with Flex SDK 4.5 which is not compatible with WDA flash islands.
As for the charts library, which Adobe referes to as the Data Visualization Component, it is also available as a separate download which can be unzipped into the same directory as the Flex SDK -- the library is available here [http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=flex3sdk]
I must say I am also confused, because as far I can tell data visualization component is not included in 3.3, but SAP makes no mention of this. Hopefully someone else can enlighten us on this issue?
