Flex Builder Beta M4 uninstall failure

Flex builder beta M4 has expired 53 days earlier than
promised. But that's little trouble. Awful trouble is that it is
refusing to uninstall. When I am trying to uninstall, it says this,

Anybody has any idea how to bypass this to get this POS

Hi Larry,
Thank you so much for your reply!
I am mainly using Flash Builder Beta 2 which like I said does install fine(using the stand alone version). In code mode it does crash sometimes, but is rare, it happens now and then, but what I really want to get working is the design view. i am new to flex, and would really like this to work.
when I go to the terminal
java - version
java version "1.6.0_15"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_15-b03-219)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.1-b02-90, mixed mode)
I did install java 1.5 for CodlFusion 9, turned out that I don't need it, well I think not. I was thinking about re installing Snow Leopard to see if I could get Flex working, but I have not yet done that. I have heard that others have flash builder or flex  working in snow leopard, can you confirm this?
My laestest error log FlashBuilder beta 2:
http://hawaiiflash.net/flashBuilder_error.txt
for Flex 3:
http://hawaiiflash.net/flex3_error.txt
also I have http://hawaiiflash.net/Flex3.txt
now I did hear from somebody that since I have 2 different versions of java this is causing issue with Flex? should I un-install all prior versions of java and just leave the 1.6 version? I am not sure why this would cause flex to crash when in design mode?
Thank you so much for your help, I would love to get flex working in design mode, either flex 3 or flash builder`-`

  • Cannot run the samples in Flex Builde beta 3

The installation of Flex Builder finished OK. I did choose to
install Flash 9.0 in both IE and FF, but for some reason when going
to the examples it asks me to install Flesh 8.0. Even if I say yes
to th eprompt it doesn't display.
I have even re-installed the flas Active X manually and even
regieterd it as per instructions on the Installation of Flex
Builder 2.0 beta 3 page,, but still no luck...
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

P.S. I asked Chris Agruss (our build and installer guru)
    about some
possible reasons why the Flash player installer might have
    failed to
work for IE. I've attached his reply.
    Rebecca - Adobe
Here are a few cases I know about where the ActiveX plugin
    for FP wont
    be installed normally:
IE is running at the time, and especially if activeX
    has been run
Outlook, or some other program that runs the IE
    engine under the hood,
    is running
Older ActiveX version installed that needs some Dark
    Magic, or
    explicit uninstallation of some sort
In the first two cases, where IE is in use, the plugin will
    normally be
installed after a reboot, but until then it will look as if
    the
    installation didnt work.

  • Problems using Vector in Flex Builder 3

I've been using Vector with no problems in Flash Builder Beta, but when I try the same thing in Flex Builder 3, the compiler throws a fit when I use it.
    public function PuzzleEvent(type:String, pieces:Vector.<Sprite>, bubbles:Boolean=false, cancelable:Boolean=false)
         //handle PuzzleEvent
The other strange thing is, Flex automatically adds this line when I use vector:
    import __AS3__.vec.Vector;
An import shouldn't be necessary should it?  Vector is in the top level package right?  With or without that import statement, I get compile errors.  Has anyone else had such problems with vector in Flex Builder?
    Dan

The only way I was ever able to solve this problem was to use Flex builder Beta and now Flash Builder 4.  I did target flash player 10.0.0, but I still never could get it to work.  At least it works in Flash Builder 4.

  • Flex Builder 3 Flash package changed / incomplete?

    Hi,
    I have installed
    Flexbuilder3_b2,
    flex3sdk_b3 &
air_b3_win_sdk. I am having problems with the
flash.desktop package in Flex builder 3.
When I use the Help I can see that in Flex 3 flash.desktop
are package components flash.desktop.NativeDrag* but when I try to
use them in code it appears they are not in my flash.desktop
package. Have flash.desktop.NativeDrag* been replaced by
    flash.desktop.Drag*? I refer specifically to
    NativeDragManager, NativeDragActions, NativeDragOptions.
Also, I am trying to run an example project which also refers
    to flash.desktop.NativeApplication thus:
    import flash.desktop.NativeApplication;
    NativeApplication.nativeApplication.addEventListener(Event.NETWORK_CHANGE,
    checkNetworkConnection);
    - but NativeApplication is not referred to in the Help as
part of flash.desktop & not available in the list of
components. Can anyone tell me what this has been replaced with?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ob

Hi, your Flex Builder beta 2 is out of sync with your SDKs.
You should upgrade to FB beta 3.
NativeApplication is now WindowedApplication, and NativeDrag*
is the current naming for those classes. Perhaps you are looking at
the beta 3 AIR help while compiling with the beta 2 SDK paired with
FB beta 2. Try bringing FB up to date.

  • Flex Builder vs. Mountain Lion

I use Flex Builder 3 on Mountain Lion OS. I can not run my application in builder. I press the run button, but nothing happens. (Under Lion it is okay). Someone's idea?

Huge differences! Two different tools, for two very different
    jobs. Flex
Builder is built on the Eclipse platform and there fore can
    be used to
design web sites - in code view, and with CF Eclipse, can be
    used to develop
ColdFusion app quite nicely, but it is in no way a visual
    development tool
like Dreamweaver. I'd encourage you to go to Adobe Labs and
    download the
Flex Builder Beta 2 and dive in. There's a good chance you'll
    want both
    tools in your "tool box".

  • Flex Builder 3 Beta 3 Debugging not working with latest Flash Player Debug

First to emphasize that never had such issues with Flex
Builder 2 Beta 2 and Flash Player 9.0.47 Debug version.
I downloaded Flex Builder 3 Beta 3 and installed it. Then
trying to debug any Flex app (old or newly created) does not work.
I don’t get any errors, but after some research I saw
it’s nagging up on trying to connect to the Flash Player
    debug version.
    1. Uninstalled old versions of Flash Player (FP).
    2. Downloaded latest debug version of FP 9 (9.0.115) and
installed it both for IE and Opera (Netscape-compatible).
    3. Installed Flex Builder 3 Beta 3.
    4. Created a simple Flex app.
    5. Ran it in debug mode.
    6. Showed a small window with title “Progress
Information” and a progress + text: Waiting for Flash Player
    to connect to debugger…
    7. Two minutes later I got the error: “Failed to
connect; session timed out. Ensure that: 1. You compiled your Flash
application with debugging on. 2. You are running the debugger
    version of Flash Player.”
Any idea what is wrong? I tried to download an older debug
version but then FB 3 Beta 3 raises the error it’s expecting
    version 9.0.115. I searched to download FB3 Beta 2 (because I
deleted it after downloading Beta 3) but unfortunately Adobe did
their best to wipe it out from their links.
    Any help is welcome.

    Hi Dimitar,
Did you close all the browsers (and applications which use
Flash Player) when you install Flex Builder 3 Beta 3 or Flash
Player? You can try manually installing it from <FB install
    location>/player/ directory. Here're some
    installation/unintallation instructions of Flash Player:

  • Uninstalling Flex 4 Beta 1

This is my first time working with a beta copies of software. I would like to upgrade to Flex 4 Beta 2. I do not see an uninstall for Flex 4 Beta 1. Will Flex 4 Beta 2 install in the same directory as Flex 4 Beta 1?

Are you on a Mac or PC? If on a Mac, you can look in Applications > Adobe Flash Builder Beta (or whatever your version is) > Uninstall Adobe Flash Builder Beta. Run the Uninstall from there. If you're on a PC just go to the Control Panel and uninstall using the Add/Remove Programs dialog.
Also, Flash Builder Beta 2 will install in a separate directory than Flash Builder Beta 1, but I think they still recommend that you uninstall Beta 1 first.

  • Fireworks CS3 quit working after flex builder 3 uninstall

I recently installed flexbuilder 3 to give it a test run. After a few days I uninstalled it. Now when I try to use FW CS3 I can't. When I open an image the only tool tip that shows up in the work area is the hand. When I try to select a different tip or use a different tool it doesn't work.
To solve this I tried reinstalling the upgrade I purchased & downloaded a while ago (I purchased web prem upgrade for the mx 2004 suite.) and it doesn't work. I get the message "please insert Creative suite web premium" or something very similar. I dont have a disk. It was a download only and CS3 is installed already. I tried contacting support over the phone and all I got was some guy from india that I could barely understand and the eventual response that there is no download link to get the program. I already have the program....as a matter of fact I redownloaded it from my account page and I still get the same message.
I have 3 projects I'm trying to get done and I cant because fireworks isn't working.
    Please help.
    Thanks
After reading another thread that was fairly similar I opened it back up and now everything is working fine......... I don't get it. But problem solved. Just wish the phone support was better. That should really be fixed.

I'm not quite sure what has gone wrong here, but can you
please try launching with the "-clean" command line option? E.g.
    from the command line:
    eclipse -clean
    or
    flexbuilder -clean
Some background, in case it helps: Although I don't know why
this has happened, it appears that a DLL is missing. Almost all of
Flex Builder is written in Java, but there are a few bits of native
code. In your "plugins" directory (e.g. "C:\Program
    Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3\plugins", or ""C:\Program
    Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3 Plug-in\eclipse\plugins", something like
that) should be either a file or a directory called
    com.adobe.flexbuilder.utils.osnative_3.0.*.jar (where "*" is a
six-digit number). Inside that jar file, among other things, should
be a file called os/win32/x86/JNIToNativeBridge.dll. Please note,
there are two plugins with similar names:
    com.adobe.flexbuilder.utils.osnative, and
com.adobe.flexbuilder.utils.osnative.win. The one I am referring to
here is the one that does *not* have "win" in the name.
Eclipse caches lots of stuff; one thing it does is, if it
finds a DLL in a plugin, it sometimes copies that DLL to another
place, called the configuration directory. The "-clean" option
tells Eclipse to discard its cache.
Please let me know whether this resolves the problem.

  • Flex Builder 3 Beta 2 Expires early when using Flex 2 key, and new SDK

I was told to use my Flex 2 key to extend the Beta period for
Flex Builder 3, this worked, today it said I have 99 days left.
but When I installed the latest SDK and restarted Flex
Builder 3 Beta 2, it says it expires in 15 days.
If I put the original SDK back and restart it goes back to 99
days, so If I switch the SDKs while Eclipse is already loaded it
seems to stay at 99 days, so now before I start Eclipse I have to
move the orig SDK back, start Eclipse, then switch SDKs.
This does not make much sense to me, why does the SDK affect
the Builder Beta Period at all? is there a fix for this, I have a
project due but 31st, and I would be screwed if it dies before
then, I already have flex 2 but I cannot roll back as this project
relies on Flex Builder 3 Functionality.

I the probelm we are stating is that we DID enter our flex 2
key and it DID initially set the expire date out, but I needed to
use a later SDK and thats when the problem occured. without the
latest the ImageSnapshot.captureImage does not work at all for me,
so must use a later SDK. However this morning my Eclipse started
stating 96 days remaining and I am still using the latest SDK, so
no idea why it works sometimes and not others.

  • Tutorial for creating a J2EE project with "Flex Builder 3 Beta 3 " ?

    Hi,
I'm trying to set up a Flex environment with:
Flex Builder 3 Beta 3 stand alone
    WTP (from eclipse update manager)
    LCDS 2.5 (with JRun)
    JBoss 4.2.2GA
At this moment I successful installed everything (but not set up). I added WTP at Flex Builder3 (with the eclipse update manager). I copied the two flex-tomcat files in jboss.
Then in Flex Builder 3 I created a new Flex Project. In the wizard first window, I selected J2EE, Livecycle and WTP. Then in the next window I need to configurate the J2EE server.
I couldn't find any information/tutorial for this window? Is there a tutorial for this?
    This window ask me:
Target Runtime: I created a new one for JBoss 4.2.2 (during this process flex builder asked me to add a project but actually I'm creating this project so I hadn't any project to add (??)).
ContextRoot: name of the project I'm creating (default). Is it good?
Content Folder: the default is "WebContent". Is it good?
Flex War File: What is that? Where do I find it?
    Thanks a lot,
    Jerome

The settings you mention all sound fine, but the I believe the Flex War file may be what you referred to as the flex-tomcat files (specifically the one should be called flex.war from the install folder).
You don't need to deploy the flex.war file to JBoss manually, when you create a project, you just select the file in the wizard and it is extracted and used as a template for the new project. In fact, it may cause a port conflict with your project if you do deploy manually it (unless you tweak some of the config files), so it's probably worth removing it from the deploy folder if you did put it there. The other file, flex-admin.war, can stay without causing issue.
The closest to a tutorial that I am aware of is if you search "New Flex Project" in the help system, it talks about what each of the options should be when creating LCDS projects.

  • Can't Uninstall Flash Builder Beta 1

    Hi,
I installed Flash Builder Beta 1 a few months ago and now I can't seem to uninstall it. Everytime I run the uninstall script, Uninstall Adobe Flash Builder Beta, it begins, prompts me for my admin password, starts loading the Flash Builder app screen, but then the uninstaller exits without removing the application. Is there some step that I'm missing or an alternative way to remove the application? The trial has expired and is pretty much useless with Beta 2 out. Any help regarding this matter would be very much appreciated
    Thanks in advance,
    Randy

If you are using Windows you should be able to have the option of uninstalling it from the following: Start>Control Panel>Programs and Features window, instead of the uninstall executable.

  • Flex Builder 3 Beta 3 Mac OS X Installer Error

I am trying to install Flex Builder 3 Beta 3 on an Intel Mac
running Mac OS X 10.4.11. When I open the installer, the first
screen (which allows you to select languages) works properly. The
second screen, however, does not load properly - I only see a black
background and white text that says "InstallAnywhere by
Macrovision", a thin white line by this, and a grayed-out "N".
There are no buttons or other text on this page.
Does anyone have this same problem? If so, are there any
fixes? I initially had this problem with Mac OS X 10.4.10.
Upgrading to Mac OS X 10.4.11 did not fix the error. A similar
error also occurs when I try to install the demo version of Flex
    Builder 2.
    Thanks!

Thanks for sending the error log - that provides some good
clues. First of all, I want to ask you about the path listed as
/Users/admin/. Was admin a default user already on your machine, or
did you create and log in as a user named admin?
The installer is failing because it cannot create a folder
under the path /Users/admin/Documents/, whereas usually you should
have full access to that folder if the user named admin has normal
    Admin rights.
Here are some suggestions for how you can remedy that:
    1) run Apple's Disk Utility, run its Repair Permissions
option, and see if it repairs permissions on that Documents folder
    2) manually delete any existing folder named
    /Users/admin/Documents/Flex Builder 3/
    3) try installing Flex Builder 3 again, after cleaning things
up in steps 1 and 2.
Failing that, try creating a new user on that machine, with
Admin rights, and then see if you can install Flex Builder 3 into
    that user account.
Let me know how it goes,
