[Flex] RTMP-Server on port: 2038 failed to start up.

Hello. I looked everywhere and i couldn't find any solution for my problem. I installed LiveCycle Data Services ES with J2EE and i have a flex application that use only the messaging part.<br />Everything works great until the lcds crash down. In the lcds.log I get the next errors:<br />[Flex] RTMP-Server on port: 2038 failed to start up.<br />java.io.IOException: Too many open files<br />     at sun.nio.ch.ServerSocketChannelImpl.accept0(Native Method)<br />     at sun.nio.ch.ServerSocketChannelImpl.accept(Unknown Source)<br />     at flex.messaging.endpoints.rtmp.BaseNIORTMPServer.run(BaseNIORTMPServer.java:276)<br />     at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)<br /><br />flex.messaging.endpoints.rtmp.RTMPException: The RTMP server has encountered a fatal exception starting up: Too many open files<br />     at flex.messaging.endpoints.rtmp.BaseNIORTMPServer.run(BaseNIORTMPServer.java:317)<br />     at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)<br />Caused by: java.io.IOException: Too many open files<br />     at sun.nio.ch.ServerSocketChannelImpl.accept0(Native Method)<br />     at sun.nio.ch.ServerSocketChannelImpl.accept(Unknown Source)<br />     at flex.messaging.endpoints.rtmp.BaseNIORTMPServer.run(BaseNIORTMPServer.java:276)<br />     ... 1 more<br />10/23 18:40:10 error Too many open files<br />java.net.SocketException: Too many open files<br />     at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketAccept(Native Method)<br />     at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.accept(Unknown Source)<br />     at java.net.ServerSocket.implAccept(Unknown Source)<br />     at java.net.ServerSocket.accept(Unknown Source)<br />     at jrun.servlet.network.NetworkService.accept(NetworkService.java:356)<br />     at jrun.servlet.http.WebService.createRunnable(WebService.java:104)<br />     at jrunx.scheduler.ThreadPool$ThreadThrottle.createRunnable(ThreadPool.java:349)<br />     at jrunx.scheduler.WorkerThread.run(WorkerThread.java:62)<br /><br />10/23 18:40:10 error <br />java.lang.NullPointerException<br />     at jrun.servlet.file.FileServlet.format(FileServlet.java:570)<br />     at jrun.servlet.file.FileServlet.processDirectory(FileServlet.java:406)<br />     at jrun.servlet.file.FileServlet.service(FileServlet.java:343)<br />     at jrun.servlet.ServletInvoker.invoke(ServletInvoker.java:91)<br />     at jrun.servlet.JRunInvokerChain.invokeNext(JRunInvokerChain.java:42)<br />     at jrun.servlet.JRunRequestDispatcher.invoke(JRunRequestDispatcher.java:259)<br />     at jrun.servlet.ServletEngineService.dispatch(ServletEngineService.java:541)<br />     at jrun.servlet.http.WebService.invokeRunnable(WebService.java:172)<br />     at jrunx.scheduler.ThreadPool$ThreadThrottle.invokeRunnable(ThreadPool.java:428)<br />     at jrunx.scheduler.WorkerThread.run(WorkerThread.java:66)<br /><br />10/23 18:40:10 error Too many open files<br />java.net.SocketException: Too many open files<br />     at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketAccept(Native Method)<br />     at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.accept(Unknown Source)<br />     at java.net.ServerSocket.implAccept(Unknown Source)<br />     at java.net.ServerSocket.accept(Unknown Source)<br />     at jrun.servlet.network.NetworkService.accept(NetworkService.java:356)<br />     at jrun.servlet.http.WebService.createRunnable(WebService.java:104)<br />     at jrunx.scheduler.ThreadPool$ThreadThrottle.createRunnable(ThreadPool.java:349)<br />     at jrunx.scheduler.WorkerThread.run(WorkerThread.java:62) <br /><br />The last error it repeats over and over again. Maybe you need to see with lsof what files are open. You can increase the limit of open files for a linux user. Mysql connections etc also count as an open file (I think).

You are only deploying one Flex web application on Tomcat?
Maybe the web application is getting deployed twice for some
    reason.
Have you tried looking at what ports are in use prior to
starting the server in Eclipse? This might be a good sanity test.
Running "netstat -a" will give you this on Windows.
We usually see this when two web applications have the same
channel configuration information by mistake. Not sure what is up
    in this case.

    Hi
I'm guessing that you are going trough a proxy, if so you need to set your proxy setting for playback:
View -> OpenScript preferences -> Playback -> HTTP and enter the proxy settings.

  • SQL Server Express 2008 instance fails to start

I've installed SQL Server Express with a named instance 'SQLSERVER2'. I was able to connect to it and reference it in the management studio. There was a problem though with Visual Studio 9 when running an ASP.NET web application that required connecting to the same instance. So, I went into the configuration manager to change the security level of the instance from network to local service. The change went through but could not restart the instance. That is what has created my next round of problems. I can't go in and change it back to network because the instance is permanently stopped. I cannot start it with the services manager. How can I fix this?

    Hi,
This problem can occur if the new Service Account does not have a profile on the machine. To resolve the issue connect to the SQL Server machine using the New Service account. This will create a profile for the user.
SQL Server creates a self-generated certificate if a certificate is not explicitly specified and/or is not installed. This information is saved in the profile for the SQL Server service account. If the profile has not been created then SQL cannot register the self-generated certificate.
If there are any more questions, please let me know.
    Thanks.

What 'New Service account' are you referring to? SQL Server Express resides on my PC where I'm logged on as administrator. I don't know what you mean by connecting to the server. I only know about connecting to the database instance which is the root of the this problem because it can't be started. Sorry for my confusion...

protection, restarted the Server a few times to no avail.
    Any ideas? Thank you!

I had this exact same problem! Thank you so much Robert for posting a link to that script! That is truly an amazing Powershell script.
I had all the same errors that AK772 mentioned, but I chose to zoom in on a different issue that the script pointed out. When I ran the "Test CA Infrastructure" step it found several errors. When I looked at what the script was doing there it was
comparing the server certificate thumbprint in the registry (HKLM:\Software\Microsoft\Windows Server\Identity) with the personal certificates (Personal Certificates in the Certificate snap-in using MMC). When I looked through them individually, sure enough
the thumbprint in the registry didn't exist in my certificate store. I have NO idea how this could have happened!
However, from there, I changed my Google search criteria and found the following excellent article:
    http://titlerequired.com/2013/04/29/windows-server-2012-essentials-an-error-prevented-the-dashboard-from-opening/
This told more about that error and showed how to regenerate the certificate identity in the registry. This totally saved me! Once I ran through the steps that he outlines, even though I got a timeout error towards the end, I could see that the certificate
thumbprint had changed in the registry and now existed in my personal certificate store.
Once I saw this, I tried going into services and manually starting the stopped "Windows Server Service Provider Registry" service. Sure enough it started right up, no error this time. Finally, I restarted the server so that all of the other dependent
services would come back up and re-ran the linked script above and everything was perfect.
Thanks so much for the breadcrumbs in this post and all of your contributions. I hope that this post will equally be able to help someone else through this very troublesome and evasive error!

  • RTMP Server Fails

I have installed FDS with the Integrated Jrun. I inititally
installed into Tomcat just for interests sake, but then unintalled
and re-installed as standalone. On startup I get the following
    error:
    user MessageBrokerServlet: init

has encountered a fatal exception starting up: Address already in
    use: bind
    at
    flex.messaging.endpoints.rtmp.BaseNIORTMPServer.run(BaseNIORTMPServer.java:310)
    at java.lang.Thread(Unknown Source)
Now as I said, I am also running both Tomcat and ColdFusion
in Multiserver configuration (integrated JRun) through port 80 --
and there may be something clashing there. Any help appreciated.
    Thanks.

Wow - this is an old thread....
    Short answer: Maybe.
If you can run the RTMP channel on port 80 and your proxy doesn't try to cache or buffer requests, then yes you can use RTMP.  If you are sharing the machine with a web server that is already listening on port 80, then you will have to use one of the other HTTP servlet based channels.

I'm trying to install Windows Azure PowerShell on my Windows 7 SP1 Enterprise laptop. As a prerequisite, it needs to install Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express LocalDB, I but keep receiving an error:
Service 'SQL Server VSS Writer' (SQLWriter) failed to start. Verify that you have
sufficient privileges to start system services.
The service that it tries to use by default is the Local Service. I verified that it has log on as a service privileges and even did a restart. Same error.
    any ideas?

    Hi ,
According to your description, when you install SQL Server 2012 Local DB , it encounter the error about SQLWriter. We need to verify if you invoke SQLLOcalDB.msi directly, and check
MSSQL service is running and other service’s status. In addition, you can go to event viewer and check the error logs for analysis.
There is a similar issue about Service SQL Server VSS Writer and troubleshooting SQL Server 2012 Express LocalDB, you can review the following article.

  • Fails to start _without_ SSLListener

I'm getting very strange behaviour with Weblogic Server 5.1 sp6, failing to start without the SSLListener. I have everything set up and working with both listeners, and it's all fine. However, I don't want the SSL listener. If I make the single change of weblogic.security.ssl.enable from true to false, the server does one of
    - no longer starts, freezing during startup after the message 'Could not initialise POSIX Performance Pack' (that's just the last displayed line, not part of the problem!)
    - claims to have started properly ('Weblogic server started'), but never responds to any incoming requests (the connection is made, but then nothing)
Any ideas what I'm missing here? It seems slightly strange!

Since the problem is before a user logs in, I suspect one of these files...
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.RemoteManagement.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist
    /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/eppc.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.ARDAgent.plist

  • The attempt to connect to the server (IP address) on port 443 failed - OLT

    Hi all
I am facing one problem, if i run load to any application for 100 users for 1 iteration then it is not showing any error. Lets say i ran the load of 100 users for one hour then for some users there are errors like
Line: (script.java:84)][ScriptException]: The attempt to connect to the server (IP address) on port 443 failed.
And my understanding is the user's which are facing failures is not able to get response or page loaded at their end. As failures are occuring for some particular steps not the entire scenario. Pls confirm.
    Thanks

I believe that's an indication that there is an error receiving mail, but if you have any drafts or email in your outgoing mailbox, try deleting them.  Apple's troubleshooting steps for this are (from http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4002):
Cannot receive mail in OS X Mail
If you use OS X Mail, look at the name of your iCloud account on the left side of the main Mail window. If your iCloud account name is dim and has a lightning bolt next to it, your account is offline. To resolve this, make sure your computer is connected to the Internet. Then choose Go Online from the Mailbox menu.
If taking your iCloud account online doesn't resolve the issue, follow these steps:
From the Mail menu, choose Preferences.
In the Preferences window, click the Accounts tab if it is not already selected.
In the Accounts list, select your iCloud email address.
    Click the Account Information tab.
Verify your SMTP server settings with the following information:
    Incoming Mail Server: imap.mail.me.com
User Name: Your iCloud email address
    Password: Your iCloud password
Click the Advanced tab and verify the following additional settings:
    Port: 993
Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): Should be enabled
    Authentication: Password

You are only deploying one Flex web application on Tomcat?
Maybe the web application is getting deployed twice for some
    reason.
Have you tried looking at what ports are in use prior to
starting the server in Eclipse? This might be a good sanity test.
Running "netstat -a" will give you this on Windows.
We usually see this when two web applications have the same
channel configuration information by mistake. Not sure what is up
    in this case.

  • App Server Fails to Start after Installation

    Hi,
I've spent a whole day struggling with this, looking through forum discussions and trying out every single suggestion I've come across in the forums. I'm running out of ideas now and really appreciate any help I can get with this problem.
I'm trying to install SJSC2 (also tried with SJSC2u1 with the same outcome) on a new HP notebook (nw9440) running WinXP_sp2. I'm using the default installation done by HP.
My installation path is C:\Java\SunCreator2 (C:\Java\SunCreator2_1 for update 1).
After the installation the App server fails to start up and gives the below error in the server.log.
    # An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine:

I've tried every workaround I've seen in the forums such as installing under different paths (both with spaces and without spaces), cleaning all the temporary files in the Temp directory, renaming the productregistry in the windows system directory. Each time I get the exact same error in the install.log.
I also tried installing the stand alone SUN App Server 8.1_02_2005Q2 as well as 8.2. I don't seem to have any issue with this installation or running of the stand alone server at all on the same machine.
Really appreciate any help I can get. TIA....

    Hi,
After spending more time looking through the forum, I came across the below thread which has worked in my case (though it was suggested for Sol10x86).
    http://forum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=62404&messageID=243113
This is the workaround that worked in my case.
    > $ cd <Creator_Home>/SunAppServer8/lib
    $ mv processLauncher.xml processLauncher.xml.trayIcon
    $ cp processLauncher.xml.bak processLauncher.xml
    # If you have a domains/creator/config/domain.xml
    $ cd ../bin
    $ ./asadmin start-domain creator
This started the app server. After that I was able to start and stop app server within the JSC as well.
Only difference between these two xml files seem to be,
    processLauncher.xml.trayicon
    <main_class classname="com.sun.rave.tray.RavePEMain"/>
    processLauncher.xml
    <main_class classname="com.sun.enterprise.server.PEMain"/>
Possibly pointing to a bug in the "com.sun.rave.tray.RavePEMain" class.
Thanks for your suggestions guys... and especially to Marco and Greg.

    Thank you for your help,

    Hi xtanto,
You may not have set up the privileges for running on a port less than 1024 (i.e. port 80) in your old back-uped tar-file.
Please check Chapter 8 "Running webcached with Root Privilege" in the Web Cache Admin document.

    Hi Regelio
As Van mentioned above, the issue may caused by the TAO NT Naming service.
Please check the status of TAO NT Naming service/License Manager
when the issue happens. And in case the error is really caused by
those services, please try to re-install the whole server tools.
Also,if the issue still persists,as another workaround we suggest you to use a simple
batch script to test the Status of the TAO NT naming service,
and restart it when the services  was stopped.
Such a script can be launched with windows scheduled every several
    minutes.
    @echo off
net start    find "TAO NT Naming Service"
    IF %ERRORLEVEL% EQU 0 (
echo Ok - "TAO NT Naming Service" is running
    ) ELSE (
