FM exchange rate differences during the invoice posting

Hello Experts,
We are working in a public project and we are facing the following:
Due to the exchange rate an invoice is bigger in local amount (EUR) than the PO. In other project, we were moving that difference to another P&L account out of budget. However, here in this project, due to the legal requirements all amount of the budget has to consume budget. Could you help me to resolve this isssue please?
Thanks in advance.
Regards.
Ahmed.

Hi,
Then you need to change the exchange rate based on your LIV posting date.
Check in OB08 with exchange rate type "M" , as when ever the difference in PO and Invoice you need to ask the finance team to change exchange rate  as per date on which you receive the Invoice so the posting is done as per the vendor invoice exchange rate.
Do refer the below KBA which explains you in detail how the exchange rate works during MIRO.
KBA: 1700942 - Exchange rate cannot be changed as changing the posting date during logistics invoice verification

  • Exchange Rate Difference in MIRO not posted to the KDM account

    Dear Gurus,
I have a query, I have defined an account in KDM. After the GR of the PO, if there is a difference in Exchange Rate system posts the Exchange Rate Difference to the Stock Account.
My client wants this this difference at the time of MIRO should be posted to the KDM account. I am invoicing in my Company Code Currency not in PO currency this is also a requirement.
Kindly provide me a solution for this.
    Regards,

If material price is standard then only KDM account will account.

  • Incorrect Cash Discount info was called during the Invoice Posting in FB01

    Hi,
I'm having an issue where when I post the Invoice via FB01 using a non-default payment term for a specific supplier, FB01 seems to be replacing the Cash Discount information base on the supplier default payment term. I have tried to debug and suspect it was due to the FM#  FI_CHANGE_PAYMENT_CONDITIONS.
It happens whenever there is a payment method insert in the FB01 transaction during  the invoice posting. If the payment method was left blank, there will be no issue on the cash discount.
I saw that there is a fix from SAP for OSS Note 1314271 - Discount days not adjusted after changing Payment term. This fix added a new statement into the FM# shown as bold at the statement below:
        IF i_newsklin NE i_oldsklin OR i_zbdreq = char_x
             OR I_OLDZLSCH NE I_ZLSCH.                                "Note1314271
                          CONCATENATE 'S' status INTO status.
        ENDIF.
In layman term, below will be the summary of the coding above:
IF NewCashDiscount NE OldCashDiscount OR TermOfInstallmentPayment = u2018Xu2019
         OR OldPaymentMethod NE NewPaymentMethod
CONCATENATE 'S' status INTO status. (No idea what is this statement trying to achieve)
      ENDIF
Kindly share with me if you have experienced this before.
Your advice is very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    David

    Hi Shashi
Cash Discount amount can be modified manually?
Go to the 'Cash Discount' Tab and type the correct discount. The difference may be a result of rounding differences.
    Hope this is useful!

  • Exchange rate differences posting failed due to manual journal entries

when i run exchange rate differences and try to post the result, system shows "No matching recording found 'journal entry' (OJDT) (ODBC-2028) [message 131-183]" at the bottom panel ane the posting was failed. then i found the problem is actually from manual journal entries made to a business partner. as long as i deselect the manual journal entries, the posting was successfully done.
i am using B1 2007B with pl09. is this standard in B1 2007B that exchange rate differences posting does not work with manual journal entries of BP?

you are right! it is a bug in 2007B.
The posting has no problem if the base reference number is same as the transaction number in the manual JE document. however, if we define a numbering series which is different from the transaction serial number, then we have problem with the posting. System searchs for the JE records by using base reference number as transaction number. That is why it could not find the JE document and then report the error message.
so, where should i post the bug to SAP and let them fix the bug as soon as possible?
    thanks for the help!

  • Basic questions about Exchange Rate Differences

    Hi Experts?
I have few questions about exchange rates:
    1. Currently in 2007, under what circumstances are exchange rate differences not posted automatically? In the previous version, it was this case when invoices are linked to payment, and manual exchage rate differences had to be run.
    2. What are unrealized exchange rates? and When do unrealized exchange rates occurs?
    3. In account oo logical pinciples, why is there a need to auto reverse Exchange rate differences or Conversion rate differences during the opening of a new posting period??
    Much Thanks!
    Warmest Regards,
    Chinho

    Hi Chinho,
you may find useful info in this wiki:

As a rule, in version 2007 it's the unrealised exchange rate differences on the BP side that are relevant since with the introduction of the unified internal reconciliation engine realised partial exchange rate differences are automatically posted. You also use the functionality to post exchange rate differences for FC GL accounts at a particular execution day.

  • Exchange rate differences whne clearing documents in local currency

    Hello,
While clearing customer documents in local currency , the system calculates exchange rate differences in the clearing document. Even if the amount in local currency is 0, the amount in second local currency will have a value. The same is happening also when we clear GR/IR account. In the case of customer clearing, becuse for the exachange rate differences account  are maintaied default values in OKB9, the system cannot split, since there are 2 different account assignments when tolerances are also involved.
I think that, if the exchange rate differences account wont be popluated while clearing, i will be able to post clearing with tolerance amounts.
Any idea about how to make the exchange rate differences not to be caulculated for clearing in local currency?
    Thank you,
    S.

    Hi,
Go to OBY6 and choose your company code.
For your company code, the check box No forex rate diff. when clearing in LC should have been checked in case if you dont want to calculate the exch rate diff when clearing open items in LC.
    This will solve your issue.
    Thanks,

  • Exchange Rate Difference in PO with cost center assignment

    Hi All,
In case of exchange rate difference in a PO with a cost center assignment the system Do not post the difference in the exchange rate difference account (maintained under transaction type - KDM - in T-code OBYC). However if the PO is a normal material PO it posts the exchange rate difference to the exchange rate difference account.
I want the exchange rate difference to be posted to the exchange rate difference accout for PO's with cost center assigned as well.
I have searched for SAP notes and found that note # 980402 & 1102481 provides a solution for this issue - but it seems both the notes are valid for 4.6 and 6 release only. We are on ECC 5.0
I have also checked note # 1136145 for this and implemented in the system successfully without any luck.
Can some one please help me with a solution for this issue.
    Thanks and regards,
    Ankur

Even I have implemented this note in our 4.6C system for account assigned POs, but no luck. Please let me know if are successful.
    Thanks

  • EXCHANGE RATE DIFFERENCE WHILE CUSTOMER CLEARING

    Hi,
while clearing the customer through f-32, system is not picking the exch. rate. gain/loss a/c. Also when I am clearing the payment on same date as the payment date, system is not picking the same exchange rate as it is for payment.
    Regards,
    akash

    Hello Akash,
    i think this may help:
The currency rate picked up by the system is the current one, not the
    rate in the posted document.
However, this can be avoided by setting the flag
flag "XSLTA" (no foreign exchange rate when clearing in Local currency).
    in fs03.
Please set this flag and then simulate the clearing with currency
(local currency). Exchange rate differences items are not posted.
Please refer to the field on line documentation for and example and
    further information.
    Kind regards,
    Jon

  • How to distribute exchange rate difference to material with moving average price?

    Hi community,
Exchange rate differences are not distributed into the items based on the shipment (per article/material). Is there a workaround available based on the GR/IR exchange rate difference and the material that was purchased?
    Thank you and best regards,
    Barbara Dörr

    Hi Lokesh,
thanks a lot for the quick answer, but I
had read this documentation and only found this documentation of exchange rate
    difference posting:
GR/IR clearing uses the exchange rate of
the goods receipt. The GR/IR clearing run completely clears Unbilled Payables
and Purchases in Transit. The run calculates price differences of EUR 155 and exchange rate differences of EUR
    135. The price differences are posted to the price difference account and the
exchange rate differences to the exchange rate difference account.
Therefore I guessed that the exchange
rate differences are NOT distributed to the material with moving average price.

  • Correct setting for exchange rates differences

    Hey SAP B1 experts,
I have a problem with automatic generated exchange rates differences in B1.
    Situation:
    - I inserted all correct general ledgers in the g/l account determinations.
    - The seeting in the item masterdata for "set g/l accounts by" is switched to warehouses.
    - In the accounting setting in warehouses I inserted the  p&l general ledger for exchange rates differences.
    - I create a case which includes a exchnage rate difference.
    - For the automatic generated entry the system use the general ledger which is inserted in the setting for "variance account" from the warehouse settings.
Is there any other general setting which is response for the using of the general ledgers for exchange rate differences?
    Help!!
    Regards
    Thomas Bartels

    Hey Shanker,
thank you for your realy quick answer.
In administration -> setup -> inventory -> warehouses I inserted  the correct p&l account for the exchange rate differences in the seeting field "exchange rate differences", but the system don't use this setting. In my test case the system use the account from "variance account".
My questions are on the one hand why and on the other hand is there an other setting for using the correct account setting.

  • Exchange Rate difference posting during MIRO posting

    Hi ,
We are facing an issue for exchange rate difference posting during MIRO.
PO creation , GR posting & IR posting done on same date. Vendor in PO has different currency than company code currency. Exchange rate maintained in OB08 for this period is taken in PO.
PO value & GR value is same. Due to raw material cost there was price difference posted during GR posting.
(i.e. Raw material cost - GR/IR value = Price difference amount)
During posting MIGO, 3 accounts got posted.
Raw material cost account got debited & offset credit to GR/IR account & price difference account (in vendor & company code currency also)
During posting MIRO, 4 accounts got posted.
Vendor account got credited with GR/IR amount & offset to GR/IR account debit.
Exchange rate difference account got credited & offset to price difference account (in company code currency only)
Since PO creation , GR posting & IR posting done on same date, then why system has posted exchange rate difference account in local currency only during MIRO posting ?
    Your inputs appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi,
there is a setting in configuration of logistics invoice verification where you can control the calculation and posting of exchange rate differences. If you had the setting active that exchange rate differences are calculated against a planned exchange rate, that might lead to the kind of postings you describe. Please check.
    best regards,   Udo

  • Problem while 're-posting' a cancelle Invoice with Exchange Rate Difference

    Hi Gurus,
We are facing a problem while re-posting an Invoice with Exchange Rate Difference. I say re-posting because this invoice was previously posted and reversed on the same date. Here is the scenario along with the relevant postings:
    1)
G/R is posted in September when the exchange rate for dollar was, say, Rs. 49 = 1 USD.
    Posting:
    Service A/C.....100 USD (Rs. 4900)
         To SR/IR Clearing A/C...100 USD (Rs. 4900)
    2)
MIRO is done in October, when the exchange rate was, say, Rs. 48 = 1 USD. Thus, the exchange difference posting was done in the respective accounts.
    Posting:
    SR/IR Clearing A/C......100 USD (Rs. 4900)
To Vendor A/C...........90 USD (Rs. 4320)
To TDS A/C..............10 USD (Rs.  480)
To Exch. Difference A/C. 0 USD (Rs.  100)
This was the correct entry, however we missed out some TDS codes and thus needed to reverse this entry and repost it.
    3)
Now this invoice was reversed (T.Code MIRO) in october itself on exactly the same date on which invoice was created, and it resulted in the following postings:
    Vendor A/C......90 USD (Rs. 4320)
    TDS A/C.........10 USD (Rs.  480)
         To SR/IR Clearing A/C...100 USD (4800, i.e. 48 * 100, Rs.48 being the exchange rate in october)
    4)
Now when we try to post MIRO again, it is posting the following entry:
    SR/IR Clearing A/C......97.96 USD (Rs. 4800)
Exch. Difference A/C.....2.04 USD (Rs.    0)
         To Vendor A/C........... 85 USD (Rs. 4080)
         To TDS1 A/C............. 10 USD (Rs.  480)
         To TDS2 A/C.............  5 USD (Rs.  240)
This is a wrong entry. SR/IR clearing A/C should have been debited by 100 USD (Rs. 4900), and the Exch. Rate difference account should have been credited by 0 USD (Rs. 100)
Can someone please help us with this. What the system seems to be doing is, that when the Invoice was reversed, the value that got reversed for SR/IR Clearing A/C was 100 USD but with Rs. 4800 instead of Rs. 4900. Now, when we try to repost the invoice, the system divided this value by the exchange rate prevalent in September, i.e. Rs. 49, thus the resultant value 97.96 USD (i.e.  4800 / 49).
    Please help.
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Angad Nagpal

    Solved.
The final entry is correct, as the net result in the G/L balances is the same. For further information please refer to notes 116250 and 46564.
    Thanks!

  • Exchange rate difference posted to Group currency only during MIRO

    Hi SAP Gurus,
We're activating parallel currency in ML and USD is the group currency. GR/IR clearing acct is managed in local currency only.

    Here are my questions:
1.) Where would I check the setting for the GL account used in the automatic line entry posted in group currency during IR? (3rd line item above)
2.) Can this be changed? Say instead of the original acct assignment, the management want to change it to FX gain/loss account
    3.) How?
I have checked several notes (331910,etc) but I can't seem to find the answers to my questions.
    Appreciate your help. Thanks!
    Regards
    Dru

Just an update to this issue- I just found out that the system is pointing to KBS when posting the
exchange rate difference in group currency upon IR, hence, PO account
assignment is adopted. I'd like to rephrase my question- is there any
way we can change SAP behaviour such that it will point to other
transaction key (e.g. KDG) other than KDM? Bottomline is we want it
charged to other GL account not the one in the PO.
Thanks so much for your assistance.

  • Addl LC Activated, No Exchange Rate Differences Posting on AP Invoice

We set up a new Company Code for India.  The CoCode is configured as USD.  We have configured INR as an Additional Local Currency (LC2) for statutory reporting.  The INR is configured as 'Hard Currency'.
Since going live, we've come to learn that paying USD invoices is not generating INR exchange gains/losses with changes in exchange rate between INR and USD.  When I look at a clearing document, both lines are posted at the historical invoice exchange rate.
For the statutory accounting to be correct, I would have expected the AP payment document to clean the vendor line at the invoice exchange rate and the offset line to post at the current exchange rate.  I would have then expected a third line to the payment document with the offset to exchange gain/loss.  The exchange gain/loss line would post with a USD amount zero with an INR amount in the Hard Currency/LC2 field.
I believe the Open Item configuration (TransCode OBA1, KDF item) is correct.  The Currency Type is 'BLANK'; therefore, good for all Currency Types including the Hard Currency.
I can't figure out what the heck I'm missing!  Anyone have any idea why the clearing AP invoice is not generating the exchange gains/losses as expected?
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

    Gordon,
    When you say
"With this version, you probably have very few options"
Does this mean with SAP B1 2007 the same problems are not there.
Please say its so and i'll upgrade immediately as I'm experiencing the same problem as the one described above by Claudio
We use one exchange rate per month. We have BP accounts whose currency is Multi Currency this is where the customer would pay either in LC (KES) or SC (USD).
The problem occurs when running conversion differences, the journal entry to the unrealized exchange gain\loss is one-sided i.e. only the SC currency is posted.
This leads to both the P&L and the Trial balances being wrong.
Thanks in advance for any assistance
