Font related issue in JEditorPane on Solaris platform
Hi,
I am loading a HTML file which contains tables and in which table header text is in bold . Now when I see the output in the JEditorPane on Solaris, no bold font is seen there...only plane simple font is available for each word.
This is happening on Solaris platform only. On Windows, its working fine. Please help me out in getting a workaround for the same. I want the table header words in bold format in JEditorPane on Solaris too.

well that depends how u are using your text. an XML can be
easiliy shown in Dynamic text box. there are some issues when you
mask it,
although do one thing, if you are using Arial try not to
embed and then see what happens, if it still raises a problem, let
me know

SAP probably applies font conversion algorithm which depends on the device type defined in your output device. When you activate smart form trace (SMARTFORM_TRACE transaction), you'll get a message about the converted font. You may also check the replaced font in the spool (in raw display mode).

See attached files.Monica, I know the Normal Character Style in Illustrator must be defined. But my question is about the Normal Paragraph Style, not the Normal Character Style. As Larry just said, in most of my documents, and in my New Document Profiles, these fields in the Normal Paragraph Style are blank (undefined), so I know this is possible. In a few older documents I'm converting, the Normal Paragraph Style has a defunct font, and even though my Normal Character Style is correctly defined with the current font, it's creating some weird behavior.
Larry, it doesn't appear to be the document itself, it just appears to be not knowing what the right keystroke combo is to clear it. Just make a new file from a Document Profile where the Normal Paragraph Style does not define one of those font fields, define a font and/or font size, save, then reopen the paragraph style settings and try to clear any field that has been set. I can't clear it, I can only change the font. -
Installation issue with Weblogic610sp1_sol.bin for solaris platform?

I have downloaded weblogic610sp1_sol.bin file for solaris platform and when i try to install, its is preparing to install & executing the file but suddenly throws an error saying
" error: can't find libjava.so."
Even i tried with other versions of weblogic also...
But same problem.....
I have installed jdk1.3.1 for solaris. I am able to install other java related programs & it is running successfully.
Any idea...

Can you verify that the size of the file you downloaded is 90,941,843? Also post the checksum of the file. What version of Solaris are you installing on? Most folks having this problem
have a corrupted bin file.

Explicitly explain how you are determining that it does not have the correct character.
I store it in file where that string store as EFT�.DEG.
Wrong.
That tells me what you are doing. That does NOT tell me how you are determining that it is wrong.
On windows it working but not on solaris platform.Which makes it really likely that you are confusing display with data. -

This problem has been going on for years and seems to be related to converting pixels to points, or points to pies between operating systems such as Apple / Microsoft. See The age-old outgoing mail font problem
Its a complete pain and beyond me why something SO simple as having the text display correctly between operating systems has not been fixed, especially in this era of technology. Apple should really focus on this and I am amazed that after waiting 4 years since the release of Microsoft Outlook 2011 for the new Microsoft Outlook 2015 that Microsoft have also not fixed this. Its just beyond comprehension and effects both the reputation of people sending emails using these platforms and those organisations that produce the software, and chose to ignore the problem without fixing it. The industry leaders should do just that and lead the way by fixing this basic problem, not burying their heads in the sand and hoping goes away.
Recently I have had to resort to typing the required email text in something like the TextEdit app, copying and pasting it into the Outlook mail body. Its not great, adding extra steps for every email sent and I use my Mac for business so there are many daily email being generated. At least doing it this way all the text is consistent when sent although I'm sure there could be a workflow generated in Automator or an AppleScript that would reduce the steps. -

I have tried using other JDK versions (e.g: 1.4.2_09-b05, etc...) and NOT see the error.
This is very strangle! It may be a bug of this JDK version?!!!

I've found out a unusual point that we see no any provider implementing RSA.
So I doubt that this missing can lead to error

Memory leak in xerces on Solaris platform
We are seeing memory leaks with xerces 2.5.0 on the Solaris platform. Has anyone encountered a similar problem and is there a fix for it.
I have seen other apps sucessfully running in AppStore. Is there something which I am missing ??????. Help me with the issue Guys.......... it's putting me out of businness.

Font Rendering Issues-Help Required Please
In the past week, any Google search on Firefox or Chrome (but not Opera) gives me results where the fonts look gappy. Sometimes there are additional dots above the letters. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox from scratch in case an add-on was at fault but even with a clean install I am still seeing the issue. I checked my font settings and do not have any minimum font size set. I have allow pages to choose their own font ticked.
I've uploaded an image where I can see some correctly rendered text and some gappy looking text (not from a Google search but a Mozilla query). It also happens when commenting online sometimes, during typing it will be gappy but it will show properly once submitted. Any ideas for a fix would be warmly welcomed and I can give more examples if that would help. Although it's not Firefox related, I did restore all defaults in Chrome and it didn't fix the issue there either.
I uninstalled the most recent Windows Update since the problem is recent but it didn't change anything. I'm not sure if browsers would even look to my computers fonts.hi Auds77, this is probably caused by microsoft update kb3013455 which can cause font rendering issues on vista:

one option may be to [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/remove-update#1TC=windows-vista roll-back this particular update] for now until there is a fix by microsoft or you could also look if there is a [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL|graphics driver update]] available on the website of the vendor (intel/amd/nvidia) which might also resolve this problem in some cases. -
Font rendering issue & multimedia keys not working
Hi, yesterday i switched to KDEmod 4.1 and I have two major problems...
One is font rendering issue... I did not change anything in my font-related packages (cairo, freetype, fontconfig, libxft) and i have to add that this setup worked perfectly in KDEmod 3.5.9, but now it looks like this:
This bug occurs only in qt apps and mostly in kmenu... i.e firefox renders my fonts flawlessly...
Second problem are multimedia keys on my keyboard...
They worked in KDE 3.5.9, but now I cannot set them up properly... Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't...
KDE recognizes the pressed key, but when I assign specific action and press the key, just nothing happens...You might be able to solve your font issue by going to System Settings -> Appearance -> Fonts. I enable ant-aliasing. I also clicked on configure and select "Use sub-pixel rendering" to RGB and the hinting style to Full. I also use the Force fonts DPI to 96 DPI. This makes the fonts pleasing to my eyes.
This is how I got my multimedia keys to work in KDE4.1:
Go to System Settings -> Regional and Language and make sure to set the County or region to your location.
khotkeys needs to be running. I added it to the autostarted progam list. System Settings -> Advanced tab -> Autostart
When I got the multimedia keys working, I was really tring to get the keyboard shortcuts to work. In addition to the above steps, I also deleted
~/.kde4/share/config/kglobalshortcutsrc. I do not know if deleting this file is needed to get the multimedia keys working, but it was to get the keyboard shortcuts woring.
Restart X
Go to System Settings -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Keyboard Shortcuts
I set the volume control in the KMix component section.
To get the keyboard shortcuts to work, go to the menu editor and select the program you want to create a shortcuts for. Click on the advanced tab and create the shortcut in the shortcut field. Save.
Then go to System Settings -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Keyboard Shortcuts. Change the component to KHotkeys. Select the Program and then select the default shortcut that you just created. (This works for the multimedia keys aswell).

The font "Helvetica" will not embed on a PDF document that I have using the "Embed all fonts" pre-flight. The actual font is 'Arial MT' (which is in my font library) but even the ArialMT fonts here are embedding as type 2 CID fonts:

I've looked up that "Helvetica" font for purchase and the closest I found was the "HelveticaLTStd-Roman" font (according to the Adobe font cross reference list) so I've purchased and installed the font but it still won't embed.
Anyone know how can I get this font to embed? Do I need to purchase a different font (Helvetica-Medium)? Or is there something else going on?I'm experiencing a related font issue in Illustrator: I'm unable to embed fonts in a PDF using Illustrator CS5.5 (Mac OS X 10.7). An Illustrator message says that their is a licensing restriction that prevents embedding the fonts in the PDF. The original ttf and otf fonts were initially purchased for a Windows machine years ago, and many of them came with Illustrator. I've embedded fonts in a PDF using Illustrator (on the Windows side) without a problem for many years.
Is this a font installation issue? Since the "installation" process is different for a mac, is it possible the fonts were not "activated" when they were copied to the library/fonts folder? The fonts do appear in the illustrator file, but not the PDF.
Could this be a Distiller issue? Is Distiller involved when Illustrator saves to a PDF? -
Screwy font display issues under size 10 type (Mac/PC)
Given the nature of the problem, I think it's probably a Mac issue and not a PowerPoint or PC issue...
I'm working in PowerPoint on both the Mac and PC. Latest versions of PPT for both platforms, so I'm using the .pptx file format. I've got a footnote on my slides that started out as size 8 Arial. My Windows XP Pro box (SP3) displays this just fine in PowerPoint 2007. My MacBook Pro displays it just fine on PowerPoint 2008 and in Windows XP Pro (SP3) under XP in Parallels.
It does not display appropriately on my client's computers, all of which are Macs running Leopard (10.5.8) and PowerPoint 2008. It looks crunched and garbled on-screen, but it prints fine. Arial at larger sizes (10 +) displays and prints as expected. It seems to just be size 8 or smaller.
I read a MS MVP reply on a thread elsewhere that suggested that Arial for the PC and Arial for the Mac aren't really the same font (thank you, Microsoft). So, I tried changing to other fonts that are supposedly standard on both platforms. Trebuchet MS and Times New Roman also display the same problem. Anything size 8 or smaller has the same display error on my client's machines, which I cannot reproduce on my PC installations or my own MacBook Pro which also runs 10.5.8.
I can replicate the error on an older desktop Mac running 10.4.11, though.
What am I missing? How can I work around this? I'm cool with any legible standard font, but given the requirements of my project it's got to be about size 8 to fit reasonably in the space I have for footnotes.
Thanks in advance!I'm not sure. They're on a mix of desktop and laptop systems, from what I've seen. I've seen something similar to what they report on my desktop Mac, which is running a 23" Apple Cinema display under 10.4.11, but not my MacBook Pro's 15" screen.
Their IS group recommended trying Verdana instead of Arial. It looks a little better on my desktop Mac. I'm waiting for the client's review of my latest test file to see how it appears on their end.

I know many of us think security is a Windows related issue, but from time to time there are security issues that may come up. I had a question so I looked and couldn't find a forum, so I posted in one of the OS X 10.6 sub forums.

Over the years, I've tried to grow the Mac side of our forum, but, as you may know, there is little or no interest in security within the Mac community. For many, the feel security is a Windows issue.

To everyone with IOS6 Sound related issues & Others
If you are facing a problem of not having any system sounds, notification sounds, no calls or other software sound related issues I'd suggest you read below it's a stupidly simple fix and it should solve most software issues after an immediate iOS6 update:
After updating unplug the phone from your computer and leave the phone alone for 5-10 minutes, if you still have problems: reboot, wait a few minutes and all sound related problems should be fixed.
When I updated to iOS 6 I had lost my system sounds, so I unplugged from the computer, rebooted the phone and still no go. I decided to just let the system "settle in" for a bit, let it lock and when I unlocked after 5-10 minutes sounds were back and everythings up and running again.Well, to break it down. After my sounds finally came back (2nd time losing them) last night I decided to restore the phone in itunes. I did it twice. First time I backed up my data. Second time I restored it as a factory iPhone. Both times guess what NO SOUNDS! I also realized that last night I had lost my sounds after charging my phone and unplugging it from the data cord. I still have ringtones (when someone calls), but text messages, emails, and any other alert tones do not work. I cannot turn the volume up or down with the side buttons and also music does not play. It doesn't even have a slide bar at the bottom.
I am on the phone with apple care now. They seem to not be aware of the problem at all.
While I was on the phone with them my sounds ended up coming back, imagine that. Hopefully every time I charge my phone I am not going to have this issue.
