Fonts in my CS5 Suite is like an Asian Restaurant menu...

I love Asian food but....I dont need the Asian FONTS
I can not get or understand why CS5  (PPRO, Photoshop) continues to display Fonts that I have specifically told Win7 Font Manager not to display
There is a Control Panel > Fonts> Setting that "Hides Fonts" that do not correspond to ones Language Setting. (in my case English)
The Font window shows that the Asian Fonts are Hidden.
...but not to my CS5 apps.
I still get fonts and all their variations cluttering my Font Menus in the CS5 Adobe apps... like :
Batang
Dotum
Gulim
Gunsuh
Sim Sun
MingLiu
Meiro
Kokika
Aparajita
...would you like noodles or rice with that sir?
I have extensively and succesfully  deleted many Asian fonts from the system. but the above,  and more, refuse to delete because allegedly they are Adobe or  System Fonts.  The samples even display in respective Asian characters. (Japanese, Korean, Thai etc..)
Font Navigator (Bit Stream) indicates I have only 82 installed fonts in my system.  These are the fonts of my choice and is about right. They do not include the Asian fonts
Why does the CS5 Suite show me the Asian Fonts?
How do I clean them out?
What does Font xml do in the Adobe folder?
Summary:
1.The listed Asian Fonts show as hidden in Win 7 Font Management
2. They do not appear in Font Navigator as installed. I can probably find them in the system if I run the "Catalogue" function though.
3.They show up in Adobe app Font select menus.

Craig,
That's correct; what's in the Win7 Fonts control panel is what I see in CS5 apps:
This is Photoshop, but Premiere Pro's titler is the same. I had all the annoying foreign language fonts before the script, and now they're gone. I've run the script on both of my edit boxen, and on my field machine, and haven't encountered any problems for having done so. I'll second your recommendation to restart after running the script; fonts display a little weird in the control panel until you do so. Other than that, it pruned a signicant number of typeface "choices" that I'd never choose.
I can't guarantee it'll work for you or for everyone, as I had nothing to do with the script, but I've been cruising along for a couple months now with the lighter font load.

  • My CS5 suite won't open my images.

    Hi everyone:
I could really use your help. I'm against a deadline to prepare for a class and I just came across a bug in my CS5 suite. None of the programs will open my images. Do I have to re-install the software? I already updated the patch. Thanks so much for your input. -KS

As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.

Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)

  • Issues updating my CS5 suite software

I've recently purchased a new laptop and installed and activated CS5 with the serial number and it is working fine. However, when I "update" the software, Adobe updater downloads the updates and then I get an error message (as per the screenshot attached) when I click on "Contact Customer Support" I am taken to an error message page explaining the error: "This serial number is not for a qualifying product..." when installing an upgrade or upsell
It was working fine until I installed it on a new machine. I suspect that it may be an issue with the fact that I did not "deactivate" it on my previous laptop. However, I cannot see anywhere that I can authorize which machines that the software should be on.
Also, I don't even see the CS5 suite mentioned as a registered product in my Adobe ID and when I try to add the serial number, I get an error saying thhis product has already been registered.
I can't get hold of anyone on the telephone as every option I dial has a concluding message that "this product is not supported on the telephone, please visit our community forums"

  • What is the best preference settings to use for CS5 Suites

I upgraded my PC a few months back and I'm currently running the CS5 suites.  A few weeks ago I started having issues with the CS5 suites freezing up & in some cases even crashing on me.  I always run Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign & bridge at the same time, as I'm constantly moving between program on any given project.  What I'd like to know, is if there's an optimum setting to use in the preferences for each program, including bridge to help them run more smoothly & efficiently, without the computer or programs bogging down or crashing on me.  Below is a list of the hardware I'm running, which I've been told is more than enough to run the CS5 suites.  Any information would be greatly appreciated, as I'm starting to get frustrated with the performance.
    Hardware & operating system:
    - Windows 7 service pack 3
    - EVGA X58 FTW3 motherboard
    - i7 960 4-Core CPU
    - GeForce GTX 470 Sli graphics card
    - Corsair Extreme 24 gigs ram
    - 3 TB 7200 RPM hard drive

Generally speaking, freezing and crashing problems don't have to do with performance configuration settings, and there are fairly few such settings that affect most applications. Video editing software tends to have a bunch, but that doesn't sound like it is pertinent to you.
Indeed, your hardware sounds far more powerful than you'd need to easily avoid problems based on performance limitations.
I suspect, then, that each of the problems you are seeing is a seperate unique problem not a result of a configuration choice. It'll need to be debugged carefully with full details, and as close as you can get to a reproducible case as possible.
In InDesign, about the only settings of relevance are whether Live Screen Drawing is turned on (images resize in realtime when you adjust their bounding boxes), and whether the View > Display Performance setting is set to Typical (the default) or High Quality.
You could also experiment with disabling Live Preflight.
You mention running 4 apps at once -- when you do so, are the non-active applications performing computation, or just sitting there idle? For instance, are you executing a complex filter operation in Photoshop at the same time as exporting a PDF in InDesign, all while you are drawing patterns in Illustrator? I assume the answer is Probably Not, in which case it lends strength to the hypothesis that the performance characteristics of your machine are not at issue here.

  • Does AE Effects Multiprocessing Pref: "CPUs Reserved" exclude CS5 Suite?

Do I need more than 1 CPU reserved for other applications in the CS5 Suite for optimal rendering and editing?
    or
Does "Actual CPUs Used" include the other CS5 apps ... ?
Wouldn't this setting be Dynamic if you were using other apps in the suite?
    or
Does this setting only apply to the background app: aerendercore.
Sorry if this question was answered other places. I did a search and found other similar answers ... but not mine.

    Will Do ...
.. Thanks for responding to my posts.
Sorry to be the latest pain in the a.. here.
This is my first experience with the suite . but I have used Photoshop for years.
I began in iMovie, maxed it out, then after a quick mess was disappointed with FCP ... and a good friend who works for Rolling Stone Magazine pointing me to AE and PP.
I would like to start off on good terms with you  .. and I'm sorry if my posts show the frustration I have been going through.
This is my 4th week with problems. I wanted to make sure my hardware / machine wasn't the culprit of bottleneck and poor performance isuues.
I try to Google and search the Forums ... but it takes lots of time and I get burnt out after struggling for hours
I wish some of my problems could be confirmed as a software problem.
Other issues seems to be workflow.
I have vintage films. They cannot be reproduced.
To stabilize the footage, clean up various frames ( automatic or by hand ) .. , crop, rotate, resize, color correct and make it flow is my basic needs.
Some of these processes I believed to be easily done by the latest advancements in processors, graphic cards, and software.
    Apparently not ...
I can see great possibilities with CS5 ... so please check out my bug reports / rants .. there may be something of value ..

  • Yosemite and adobe cs5 suite

Has anyone tested Yosemite with the adobe cs5 suite
    Photoshop CS5 Extended
    Illustrator CS5
    etc....?
I do not plan to purchase any further upgrades to Adobe
I have been using their products in my business since 1994 and I have spent a fortune keeping them updated.
CS5 is as far as I will go
I do like to keep my Apple OSX updated
    Macbook Pro 10.9.5

    Hello Jonnny.
I use the same software as you, and have the same thoughts and issues, and have been searching the internet and Adobe forums for similar answers and questions. Many people are having issues and most are saying if you are running older versions of CS, (I don't think CS5 is that old!) then a Java update is needed and easily downloaded from the Apple website. Personally I will wait another 2 weeks or so before deciding, but I may just keep my Mavericks, the last time I upgraded it caused me countless hours of downloading and reinstalling software again, one of Apples pieces of software I enjoyed using was iDVD which is no longer supported and just about got it too work again on Mavericks, but not sure if it will work on Yosemite.

  • Remote update cs5 suites

We have about 15 clients with different cs5 suites and some lose photoshop/dreamweaver installs on the network. both microsoft and osx clients.
What is the best way to keep these clients updated without running around all the time?
Was looking for some console update options but can't find a thing about that.
Adobe has a nice deployment toolkit which was perfect for deployment.
Also read about hosting your own update server. But nothing in the docs about remotely updating the clients.
anyone some good advice for this?
    thnx
    Jerry

    Hi Ashubijalwan1,
just to make sure there is no misunderstanding:
All Creative Suite Apps are updated except for the app with the name "Adobe Creative Cloud".
When I use the Creative Cloud Packager and select solely the core components, "Adobe Creative Cloud" is a part of them. The program itself shows a message saying that an update is necessary, but RUM won't update "Adobe Creative Cloud".
    Best regards,
    Tobias

  • I used up my two downloads for my standard CS5 suite, my backed up program on my external hard drive isn't working. My serial number says it is invalid, what do I do?

I purchased the standard CS5 suite (photoshop, illustrator, in design, bridge) student package for my laptop (through a download process, not dvd, in which I had two downloads). I used my first one, that followed with my hard drive crashing. I used my second download, and then I had an accident with my laptop and had to purchase a new one. I backed up all of my programs onto an external hard drive and I just tried to re download adobe programs using that. When i enter my serial number it says it is invalid. What can I do? Live chat will not help me because I do not have the current CS6 or CC.

Double-check your serial number here: Find your serial number quickly
Serial numbers will sometimes become invalidated if they were hacked and made available on the internet.

  • How do I reinstall CS5 Suite on a new hard drive

I have installed Adobe CS5 Suite Premium and Adobe Acrobat X Pro on my laptop and on my desktop.  My desktop hard drive crashed and had to be replaced.  I now cannot re-install these programs because it is asking me for username/password information that is correct but not working for the installation.  PLEASE HELP ME

It asks me twice.  The first time, I plug in the username/password for my Adobe account and it works (image 1486).  The second one (image 1485) does not work.  The issue is occurring at the Install Options point in the installation

  • Missing Fonts in Illustrator CS5

In the font pull down menu I have fonts displayed with "< >" symbols on the sides. I assume this means that illustrator thinks the font is missing or it has replaced the font or both? The font is loaded in Suitcase Fusion 3 (the only font management software on my MAC Pro) and it is activated. So why does these < > symbols still appear? How can I get rid of them? What is the font issue?

    unclefester67 wrote:
so the "< >" symbols around the font name is actually just a way of telling that they are "Symbol" fonts. They are in fact not missing or have been replaced?
The bottommost font is not a Symbol font. I think it just indicates that the name of the font is not in that font itself (all other font names are), because the font does not contain Latin characters.
Missing fonts show up in square brackets [Like This] in InDesign, at the very top of the font list, and I think it's the same for Illy.

  • Getting error when downloading updates for CS5 suite

  • Dynamic and shared TLF font help in CS5

I am simply trying to use a special font in Flash CS5 in a dynamic text field. This was so easy to do before CS5. I am not able to embed fonts in CS5 and have them work?
I am working on a large project and the time to relearn Flash each release, makes it not cost effective use anymore.

Then don't use the TLF textfields and just use the Classic textfields. They work the same way they used to.
So details would help. What kind of font? What kind of embedding? and...
... what kind of trouble are you having embedding fonts? I haven't done a lot with it, but the bit I have seems to be much more straight forward and easy to do.

I need to format my macbook, so I'm having issues deactivating my CS5 Suit while trying to uninstall it, to reinstall it after the format has been completed. Anyone know whats going on?

you must deactivate before uninstalling and reformatting.
    open a cs5 program>click help>deactivate.
if you're unable to do that, request an activation count reset by contacting adobe support by clicking here and, when available, click 'still need help', https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html

  • Photoshop CS5 suite will not open files or any pictures

We are seeing a problem with our CS5 suite with Photoshop only. The actual Photoshop program will open and allow us to browse the menus, but we cannot open and recent files, or open any new pictures with it. Also we are not able to create a new file with Photoshop.
We have reinstalled the CS5 suite twice now with now changes. We have also verified that the CS5 suite is up to date with all the latest updates and patches needed. All other parts of the CS5 suite work on the computer.
Please let us know what other information you may need to help resolve this problem we are faced with.
