For the attention of DavidM - moderator - rebootin...

David,
I am one of the many who has experienced the random rebooting, many times over the last 18 months or so since the upgrade to the new look software.  This issue has been highlighted by various people over the period, and your stock reply is for everyone to send you a private message and you will help.
The only help we want is a guaranteed supply of service, free from rebooting, provided by a combination of a stable BT Vision box and properly programmed software.  Can you help with this...?  If so, please explain what your plan is...?
When this problem first arose I was in regular contact with a Senior Manager for BT Vision Products, and she couldn't help me.  When my questions got hard last November, she chose to just ignore me.
Last week I received an email from another BT employee from the Resolutions Dept stating that "This issue will not be fixed".  Again, I went back to him with a hard question, and again, he has chosen to ignore me.
On one of my previous forum posts last week your BT TV expert SteveM questioned his colleagues comment above.  Again, I went back to Steve with a hard question, and again, he has chosen not to reply as yet.
My friend's Sky box has never rebooted randomly.  You would think that if BT can afford to pay £900m for the rights to broadcast Champions League football, then they can afford to fix this problem.  You would also think that a company the size of BT would have the clout to employee whomever they need to make this work.  If your box supplier can't provide working boxes, go to another supplier.  If your software programmers can't write a working programme...well you know the answer.
Sorry to ramble on, but BT have rambled on even longer in their efforts to find a resolution to this major problem.
I do hope that you will show everyone on this forum the professional coutesy of a positive response and action plan, and I for one look forward to your comments in due course.
Thank you,
Douglas

Yep, mine reboots all the time as well and has lately also started showing a white screen and refusing to budge from it whenever we watch BBC iPlayer and the programme finishes.
Since the OP mentions BT Sport I'll also say that imo BT Vision has gone from fairly appalling but cheap. to nearly unwatchable it has so much dross on it. This is because no doubt ALL the money has gone into BT Sport which according to myself and a great many others, is also complete dross.
BT's complaints have gone through the roof since BT Sport arrived and little wonder - I get it for free and can't be bothered with it.
The only positive thing I can say regarding BT is; thank goodness my contract is up this month...

    Hello there,
Just saw your advice given for post titled "nano frozen". I followed out your advice holding down middle and menu key and my nano screen works now! Thanks.
PS any idea why the screen freezes like it does and they we have to go through process of holding down keys to get it working again?? The reason I ask is that I have only had my Ipod Nano for just under 5 months and if a major problem I might ask for new replacement.
Many thanks again for the advice!!!

    Can I answer instead?
Doing what you did is called a "reset" and is a very common fix for iPod ills. It's posted all over these forums just about every other post (mainly because folks don't read the manual or the getting started guide before coming here!).
It's just like restarting your computer when it freezes or won't respond and it's not a major problem unless you frequently have to do this.
    Nothing to worry about.

  • For the attention of Mod DavidM - Slow broadband s...

Hello. My broadband speed is at 576kbs down and 288kbs up. According to kitz, I'm 2.28km direct from the exchange and my estimated line speeds are 2048kbps on Fixed ASDL and 4500kbps on DSL Max. Those are currently the only 2 options available in my area until FTTC is rolled out next year. In terms of noise attenuation heres the following...
    23:00:12, 13 Aug.
    ( 64.430000) ETHoA is up - VPI: 0, VCI:35
    23:00:12, 13 Aug.
    ( 64.430000) DSL is up
    23:00:11, 13 Aug.
( 62.980000) DSL noise margin: 25.00 dB upstream, 28.90 dB downstream
    23:00:10, 13 Aug.
( 62.890000) DSL line rate: 288 Kbps upstream, 576 Kbps downstream
    22:59:46, 13 Aug.
    ( 38.130000) WAN Auto-sensing running.
Running on a BT Home Hub 4. It's been a lot slower running speeds as of recently though it may of been a while though I've been out of the country so unsure. If there's my PC connected and any other device, it pretty much slows to a near stop. Any help that you can give would be massively appreciated. I've contacted BT customer service before to just have line tests run etc... which has been absolutely no help. Hub is connected to the master socket aswell.

  • For the Attention of BTCare Staff. Assistance requ...

Hi there help is required immediately.
    Where do i start.
Basically we have had problems with our broadband since we got it in a bit back and recently it got even worse. We reported this all to BT the same engineer has had too visit twice even though he clearly said there is not a problem with our line and that it is a fault at the exchange because of the section our house is hooked up too.
His last visit was about 3 weeks ago , he said everything fine but obviously speeds gross as he agreed, we are literally living with between 0.3 0.7 speeds now constantly and 1mb if we lucky and this is all the time. He forwarded all this too some specialist team that deal with the exchange faults etc and said they woudl ring us within 2 days! this was over 3 weks ago it must be now and nothing still!! internet si actually worse and i log in to my bt account tonight and amazingly the fault has been taken ooff ~! I have emaield bt numerous times over past week with no response and this is how they treat me. I would appreciate help with this matter asap or i really have no option but to take it to court because this is just shambolic. thanks

No my question is not with bt open reach they done there job ! The note's he put's frward go on my bt account for future reference if bt need too look at history of problems.  BT retail Provide my broadband so they sort it ! end of story ! OFCOM always states that when i pay a product i get what im paying for. we can chat lega if u wan too ?
Finally the terrible speed test worked. ps: to the person who said this speed test provides things that are required, wrong , it provides nothing different to speed test.com which actually provided more info.
    but here it is anyways
Download speedachieved during the test was - 2842 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
    Additional Information:
    Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7150 Kbps
This speed is actually miracle shame it's a one off im guessing every other bt customer here has went to bed.
anyways i'll see if any bt representative here want to fix the FAULT that has been deleted off my account which i have all the info for still i save everything so if it is not sorted asap, bills will be stopped and trading standards will be contacted as well as my dad's solicitor. Because enough is enough.

  • For the attention of Pat Willener.

further to my screen shot on previous message.
the option "unclick grayscale" is not highlighted, this is defalt.
I cannot "unclick grayscale" for recent pdf files.

Some tips to get what you need from forums, which can be confusing places at first. And if you don't follow the usual way of doing things, it can actually cause annoyance and work against you.
If you have more to add it is very important to return to the original message and hit Reply. Posting a new message is very confusing, and is likely to lead to your message being ignored (or worse).
Also, it's helpful to realise that the people here aren't staff and anyone could pick up your message and help. If you address things to particular people it reduces the chances of getting help.

  • Two Loop for the position

Hi people i explain my situation.
I have a table with some component.
Every component have a type. For example:
    Pos  Name  Netprice Type Uepos
    10    xxxx    xxxx      TAP
    20    yyyy    yyyy      TAN     10
    30    zzzz    zzzz      TAN     10
    Now i must do it.
Loop at this table, if TYPE = TAN i read the UEPOS value and get it into a Zvariable.
Now i must reloop in the table because i must SUM the Netprice of every element Type TAN that have the same UEPOS, and this UEPOS must be the same of the POSNR of the element that have the Type TAP.
Understand? I Know it's difficolt to explain. I try more in another type.
    I have this situation:
    POS NAME NETPR
    10     A        0
    20     A.1     xx
    30     A.2     yy
    40     B        0
    50     B.1     xx
In this actual situation the A.1 are dependento of A and i wanto to sum in the NETPR of A the netpr xx , yy of the A.1 and A.2. then the same for B position.
    Thanks for the attention.

hey i think you can do like this.
    SORT ITAB by TYPE UEPOS.
    clear: w_type, w_uepos, w_netpr.
    loop at itab.
    if w_type ne itab-type
    or w_uepos ne itab-uepos.
here you can capture previous type and uepos.. so write logic to use netprice before clearing that.
    clear w_netpr.
    w_type = itab-type.
    w_uepos = itab-uepos.
    endif.
    w_netpr = w_netpr + itab-netprice.
    endloop.
    Pos Name Netprice Type Uepos
    10 xxxx xxxx TAP
    20 yyyy yyyy TAN 10
    30 zzzz zzzz TAN 10

  • Attention! For the visually impaired users of OS X!!!

Just wanted to bring this to the attention of all users of Universal Access Zoom feature in OS X.
There is a bug in OS 10.4.8 that basically defaults amount of magnification to "0" each time Zoom is switched On and Off. It can be quite a time waster to have to re-adjust amount of magnification each time you enable and disable the Zoom feature.
This isn't at all a problem for people that use "rapid zoom' option of course. But since all of us have different needs and abilities using this option may not be a solution for everyone.
I have already notified Apple Support.
Hopefully things will return to the way they were in OS 10.4 - 10.4.7. However, I strongly encourage everyone who finds this bug a problem to also do the same and notify Apple Support either directly or by using the feedback form.
    regards,
    Susan.

The general icon sizes are kind of matched to the rest of the user interface. You can set the zoom preferences to follow the mouse around; you can also lower the screen resolution to get an overall increase in the size of screen objects.

  • Attention N200 Owners, I found a fix for the fan

In an attempt to improve battery life, I made an important discovery. Apparently lenovo is using the desktop CPU P States instead of the mobile ones. With my T7200 running at 2GHz, this means it's using 1.35V instead of the 1.225V it's supposed to be. This mistake on lenovo's part means increased heat output and a fan that has no idea how fast to run. Here's how to fix it:
    1. Download and Install RightMark CPU Clock Utility. http://cpu.rightmark.org/download.shtml
    2. Open the utility and select "Advanced CPU Settings" in the pane on the left side.
    3. Towards the bottom under "Intel Core 2 Family Advanced Features", change the "CPU type selection" setting from desktop to mobile.
In  order to make this change stick, you have to make the RightMark CPU Clock Utility run at startup.
    1. Click on settings in the pane on the left side.
    2. Check the box next to "Run at Startup"
    3. Select "via Startup Folder" in the pull down box.
    4. You may also want to check the "Start Minimized to Tray" box above, or the main window will open every time you start the computer.
Untill lenovo does something about this problem, this is all you can do. However, you will see an improvement in battery life and a reduction in noise, along with a fan that does not have ADD.

    @iamdh
He doesn´t change the voltage of the CPU fan which could indeed be a little risky. He changes the voltage of the CPU which is according to CPU-Z by default (http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php) a little higher than the default voltage of the CPU.
I also noticed this before and did exactly the same with my 3000 N200. The difference is just that my N200 has a T5250 CPU but as it seems the same overvoltage problem. With his workaround the heat and powerconsumption is especially under high load reduced, resulting in a higher runtime.
On the other hand this has hardly any effect on the fan spining up an down when the CPU is idle.
    Sorry, small addition:
I used another way to get the "right" voltages for my CPU. When I open RMClock my CPU already is marked as an mobile CPU, so this is not the problem in my case. But you can also change voltages for the different Pstates in RMClock manually. And this is what I did to get the default voltages for my CPU. Interested ones can find the necessary information here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=2637648 (They describe how to undervolt a CPU but as a start it is just enough to supply the CPU with the default voltage instead of the "higher than above" voltage supplied by for example my 3000 N200)
Just for information: The default Voltage of my T5250 CPU is 0.95 Volt at idle and 1.25 at load. According to CPU-Z my CPU gets 1.063 Volt at idle and 1.363 Volt at load.

  • Setting up HTTP for the first time...

    Hey All,
My site can be viewed from inside our district. When I get home I just get errors when going to the site.
I know I'm close, just can't seem to find the right settings.
    XServe 10.4.10
    Thanks!
    Brandon

As a very general rule of IP networking, one IP address is assigned to one IP host only. (In more involved configurations, the IP address can potentially float within certain multi-host configurations, with one host "hot" at any moment, but the other hosts are intended to be replicates. And that's not the case here.)
There are technically ways to get where you want, where some software or some device sniffs the http headers. This can be an Apache reverse-proxy. Which also means that you have a primary web server and a secondary, and if the primary (the reverse proxy) is down the secondary is also down. Or you can use a web proxy appliance devices. These approaches can and do work, but they require either expense (for the http appliance) or configuration and software complexity. (My general preference is to keep it simple, and only bring out the power tools and the IP and Apache arcana when I really need to.) I'd tend to recommend against both the Apache reverse proxy or spending money on the appliance.
Given what I'm reading in this thread, I'd suggest using two static addresses, two sets of port-forwards, and use two hosts and two web servers. Two DNS entries. www.example.com and myhappyplace.example.com can be set up in DNS, for instance, for each of the two parallel hosts. It's simple, and it works, and it's easy to manage and easy to explain.
Or better, should you need two domains that appear separate, I'd suggest the use one public static IP address and one port forward and one host and one web server, and multiple virtual domains. Two virtual domains means two sets of web directories, and security access controls can be set up for two different groups of web authors (via ACLs, for instance). On the same host.
With more IP hosts and more web servers, you're opening up the crack in the firewall wider. More hosts is more exposure and more maintenance and more upkeep. No DMZ can be more exposure, should your hosts be breached. Should one or both of your hosts become "moderately compromised", your district can end up blacklisted in the spam databases, which means your district is tossed off the Internet for email. (There have been folks here in the discussions over the past month or two that have had weaknesses in their web servers exploited for spamming. Given the variety of web servers I see listed in my Apache logs, they're very far from alone in being compromised.) Were a server breach to arise, even your legitimate outbound mail for your district could get dropped by the recipients, should your domain end up compromised and found to be launching spam runs. (qv: various "Help, I've been hacked" threads here.)
Mistakes here will get the district and the district superintendent's attention Right Fast. Most admin folks are attached to their email, and can get cranky -- mail withdrawal syndrome? -- when their domain gets blacklisted.

  • Updated Process for the Ideas Exchange

Hey folks! Spotify Community team here.
If you've been around the Spotify Community for a while, you've probably noticed that we keep tabs on your suggestions for improving Spotify through our Idea Exchange.
In an effort to keep the Idea Exchange as organized and up-to-date as possible, we've changed the way Ideas are submitted. We've outlined the new process with a step-by-step guide below.
We hope that you continue submitting ideas to make Spotify even better.  While we can't promise that we'll implement every idea that you submit, but we'll always do our best consider each one and provide updates wherever possible.
    The guidelines:
Search for previously submitted ideas.  Someone may have already submitted the same idea.
One idea per post.  No double dipping.
Ensure the idea is implementable.  Avoid posting general feedback or questions in the idea exchange--the more specific the idea the better.
    Use an intuitive title.
    Submitting a new idea:
    1. Go to the Idea Submissions Board.
    2. Click the New Idea button.
    3. Enter an Idea Subject that includes one of the tags above.
    4. In the Body enter a detailed description of your idea, including any screenshots or links you'd like to share.
    5. Select one a platform label.
    6. Then select a subcategory label.
    7. Click Post.
    8. One of our Idea Guardians in the Rock Star Program will analyze the idea and mark it either as a "Live Idea" or close it for a specified reason (duplicate idea, unspecified, etc). Allow us to introduce our Idea Guardians: Marco, FredJ, gprocess, Peter, dinomight, Anthony, pnc, Jordi, kbrooksc, Carina, OviiiOne, and Rodrigo.
    9. If your idea reaches the Live Idea board it can then start to gain kudos and comments from other users.
    10. Once your idea reaches 100+ kudos a Community Manager or Moderator will update the status to one of the following:
    The Idea statuses:
New Suggestion (no status/default one): the idea was just posted, it is waiting to be reviewed by an Idea Guardian.
New Idea: this is a new and unique idea, you can add your kudos here.
Inactive Idea: Ideas that could not gather at least 25 kudos per year will get closed - you can submit this idea again if you still feel the topic should get some attention. We recommend changing the title or description if posting the same idea again.
Good Idea, give it some kudos: We like this idea. A decision has not been made but we want to see how much the Community continues to vote on it.
Under Consideration:  This has been brought up internally.
Watch this space: This feature is coming. We have a rough pipeline for its release.
Not right now: We talked about this internally and it’s not on our pipeline for the next few months or more.
Case Closed:  We talked about it, but we won’t be running with it. Thanks anyway!
Implemented:  This feature has rolled out on the specific platform.
Needs more info:  We need more clarity or information around this idea from the original poster.
Curious for more information about the Ideas Board? Check out The Ideas Board: How your feedback reaches Spotify.
Thanks for your continued feedback and contributions everyone,
    The Spotify Community Team

Ah, yes, now I see it. For those of us with less than perfect vision, how about putting the text in red in the center of the page as opposed to in only slightly darker green to the right. I've never used this page before so I had no idea there even was something to select on the right hand side. Also, the first link in the first post on this page gives me this: "You do not have sufficient privileges for this resource or its parent to perform this action.Click your browser's Back button to continue.Return to my original page"

  • How-to use Excel for the XML file input?

    Hello all,
Following our discussion with Gerhard Steinhuber on the very nice tutorial from Horst Schaude , "How to upload mass data via XML File Input" , I am starting this new discussion.
In the comments section of this previous cited tutorial, Rufat Gadirov explains how to use a generated XML from Eclipse instead of your XSD file as your source in Excel.
However, in spite of all the instructions, I am still facing the same issue in Excel when I try to save my file as XML : "The XML maps in this workbook are not exportable".
What I try to do is to create one or more Sales Orders with multiple Items in it from a XML File Input, using excel to enter data.
The part with the File input is working (if I directly upload my file to the webDAV, it creates a sales order instance with multiple items).
The only missing part is the Excel data input that I cannot make work. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Here is my XML file that I try to use as a source in Excel before inputing data from Excel:

    Hello Jacques-Antoine,
I suppose that as you have tried to construct a map from the schema, you have taken the elements from the List level down. In this case I also can't export the map.
But if you take the elements from the level MySalesOrderUploaded down, you'll get the exportable map (screenshots)

  • User-developed Fan Control for the S10(e)

    Hello and welcome.
When you've searched the internet and found this thread, it's possible that you are an owner of a Lenovo Ideapad S10 or S10e which has a little problem with the behaviour and/or the noise of the fan. In this post you will get all the informations you need to handle this problem for yourself. It should also be the same on every S9/S9e.
Just a few comments before we begin:
This is not an official support or solution by Lenovo.
We are just normal users as you are, but we get rid of the fan and wanted to find a way to handle it. So if you want to try anything of the methods described here you have to know that you'll do all this only at your own risk. We are not responsible for any damages of your device. You should only use these methods if you know what you are doing.
Please note that this thread is only for discussing, improving, trouble shooting and perhaps extending the fan control utilities. Any general complaints about the fan problem itself should be placed in the original thread right here: http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=IdeaPad_Netbook&thread.id=795. It already has 80+ pages (the link goes to the first page) and it is better to exclude all the fan control stuff because there it's very difficult to keep an overview.
Here you may post all of your questions, ideas/brainstorming, concerns, thanks and so on and you are really invited to participate and be an active member.
In this first part of this post I'm going to summarize all information about using a fan control utility. For any newbie it will be enough to read this post to get all necessary information. The second part does the same for developement of fan control utilities as we still have no known or working fan control utility for Linux, Mac OS X and other OSs I've forgotten - for now.
For getting started you need a S10 or S10e with an up-to-date BIOS. For the S10 it's the 90 67, for the S10e the 66.
    The battery issue
Under very specific circumstances - that we haven't figured out yet - it might happen that your Lenovo S9/10(e) no longer detects the battery while using S10FanControl or S10Fan. It might occur after 2 minutes, it might occur after 2 months, it might never occur. It does not occur using Notebook Hardware Control.
It can be solved by removing the battery, waiting 10 seconds and put it back in. Then the battery is re-initialized and the detection works again.
    S10FanControl - Windows
The first utility is S10FanControl created by user dresslerc. The current version is 1.0.0.1, available here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/yd5xmnrnijf/S10FanCtrl1.0.0.1.zip. After you've downloaded it you just have to extract it and start the .EXE in the "Release" folder. Here are the notes and the description dresslerc posted right here:
    Everyone,
I've uploaded a version which everyone can use to test with.  Remember this is still a TEST version although I think it works for the most part.  It should work both on the S10/S10e.
Please install the .NET Framework 2.0 or later first.
Then click here to download the exe:  http://www.mediafire.com/?jlg2enkjdxn
Once downloaded, extract the files and hit hte S10FanCtrl.Exe.  Once this program launches you should be able to control the fan.  Keep in mind that if you lower the fan speed then it'll take upto 30 seconds before the S10 registers the change, so be patient.
I've only tested this on the latest BIOS 59.  I am sure it will work on the 57 as well but the individual speeds might not work properly on that version.  Please try it out and report back.
The only issue that I heard so far is that occasionally the fan will kick in regardless if in Manual/Smart Mode.  Also the temp it shows may not be accurate.  If you find any other issues please let me know what they are so I can attempt to fix them.
Once we have all the kinks worked out then I will release the source.
    Heres a quick Video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PKl70ZgmFg
REMEMBER: USE PROGRAM AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES THIS PROGRAM MIGHT CAUSE.
    Application Use:
BIOS Controlled - Fan is controlled by the BIOS
Smart Mode - Fan is controlled based on the conifguration in the options.  You can set the threshold here at what temp you want the fan to kick in...
Manual - Fan is controlled manually by the slider.
If you want to have the program startup automatically, then place a shortcut of the app in the PROGRAM FILES -> STARTUP folder.  Then you may want to go to the options and make the application minimize at startup.
    Edit:
It seems there are some issues with the app and the S10e or previous BIOS versions.  Will post a fix asap.
The source code for S10FanControl is available here: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=7a3fb99d33817c08c2b435915e8821d7e04e75f6e8ebb871, written in Visual Basic .NET 2008.
    S10Fan - Windows
The second utility is a tool written by user slash:
    Hi guys,
Well it looks like Lenovo dropped this matter after all. Anyway, I have here another fan controller to add to the bunch. I have been using it for some time now without any problems. It is for both S10 and S10e.
What the program does is basically the same as others. The S10's fan speed is controlled according to the ACPI thermal zone temperature. By over writing the values which resides at offset 50h of the EC register at an appropriate timing, the ACPI thermal zone temperature is over ridden. The program is written in C and uses WinIo created by Sysinternals. The GUI version is available now.
It should be noted that the fan speed temperature thresholds differs with BIOS version. For 14CN67WW and 14CW90WW  the fan changes speed at temperatures 60c, 65c, 70c, and 80c. Furthermore, the BIOS will automatically shutdown the S10 if the temperature reaches 90c.
The program has a fail safe mechanism that automatically disables itself if the actual ACPI thermal zone temperature goes above 85c. This allows the BIOS to regain control and the fan will work as intended by Lenovo. If the temperature drops below 85c the program will take over control again.
To run the program, you will need administrative privileges.
    Known working BIOS versions:  14cn58ww,  14cn60ww, 14cn67ww, 14cn90ww
The program will work with any BIOS version as long as the BIOS uses the 50h EC register readouts to control the fan.
    build 2009.05.24
    Higher priorities for EC commands.
Usage: The program will run in the system tray. Double click or right click and use the menu to open the program. To determine the BIOS temperature thresholds, use the 'Setup' button. To run at boot time, place a short cut in the startup folder.
    http://www.mediafire.com/file/njhz0icym2t/S10Fan.zip build 2009.05.23
    Usage: S10Fan.exe
    Added GUI.
    build 2009.05.17
    Usage: S10Fan.exe 60 65 70 80 70 75 80 85
                S10Fan.exe test
The first 4 values are the BIOS temperature thresholds, the latter 4 are new thresholds that we want to over ride with. To determine the BIOS temperature thresholds, use the 'test' option.
    build 2009.03.16
    Usage: S10Fan.exe 70 75 80 85

    Notebook Hardware Control - Windows
The third utility is a profile for Notebook Hardware Control. I've adapted it from a profile for the Lenovo N500 which I've found here: http://nhc.yourcopy.de/overview/. With the manual for creating the profiles that can be found here: http://www.notebook-treff.de/board/database/hilfsprogramme-f%C3%BCr-nhc/92-how-to-create-an-acpi-fil... I was able to change the ACPI commands to work on the S10(e).
Installation and setup is divided in two steps. The program Notebook Hardware Control (NHC) is available at http://www.pbus-167.com/. Install the program, but do not start it for now. Then you need my NHCConfig utility, available here: http://forum.eeepcnews.de/download/file.php?id=1476. It detects your model number and BIOS-version via WMI and writes a proper S10(e) profile to the NHC acpi directory. The GUI is German if you have a German Windows and English if not. Additional languages can be added.
After you've extracted the ZIP-file you have to start the nhcc.exe (requires .NET Framework 2.0). At first a message appears that you use the program at your own risk. Then you can choose if you want to apply your own settings (experts) or if you just want the program to run with my defaults (newbies). In the settings window you can see your system details on the left, you can set up your thresholds in the middle and you can set the fan speed you want on the right. Then click on execute.
Now start NHC. Go to the "Settings" tab and click on "Show all NHC options and settings". Then a few more tabs appear. Go to the "ACPI" tab and check if the "ACPI Control System" is running (if everything works, the message "ACPI Control System running" will appear, otherwise it says "ACPI control system is not yet configured for this system"). Now click on "Show ACPI Control System details".
Here you can change the temperature values the fan control depends on (the settings from NHCC are the default values). On the bottom of the window you can see the "Current CPU temperature". That is the value you have to deal with. In general it has a value of around 60°C. In the middle you can see four user editable temperature values. You can leave the values as they are if everything works. The on/off values are responsible for the temperatures at which the fan starts running and stops again after cooling the device. The level values are responsible for the fan speed, for example you can set the off_level higher to let the fan run all the time at the lowest level, if the values do not fit for your device or whatever.
You can switch between NHC and BIOS control by disabling or enabling the "ACPI Control System" or by closing NHC.
    Q:
    A:
With every utility it is possible that it takes some time until you see an effect after you've started the program. Any failure of the programs should be no big problem because the only thing that should happen is that the BIOS controls the fan. Another issue that might occur due to the way the fan is controlled is that the fan may start running for a very short time and it looks like the fan control has lost control. The fan should stop immediately or at least after a few seconds.
Keep in mind that running the S10(e) with a fan control means that the S10(e) has to deal with higher temperatures. That could mean that the device will not last for 10 years but only 9 years (who uses a netbook so long...?). In every case you need a tool for monitoring your cpu temperature. We know that especially Core Temp 0.99.5 and Real Temp 3.00 do a very good job. That is important because the temperature values you need to set up the fan control are different from the values reported by the cpu sensor, they are between 15°C and 20°C higher. A normal temperature reported by the monitoring should be around 40°C, with the NHC default values the fan starts running at 52°C and stops at 38°C.

    END using fan control
    BEGINNING developing fan control
Controlling the S10(e)'s fan is a litte bit difficult because it looks like there is no way to control it directly. But it is possible to manipulate the temperature the BIOS fan control depends on. As long as the built-in fan control thinks that the cpu is cool enough the fan stays off. And that is exactly the point where we can attack.
The fan control depends on a field called RTMP in the memory of the embedded controller. It can be accessed via "_SB.PCI0.LPCB.EC0.ERAM", the offset of RTMP is 0x50 (hex) or 80 (dec). It is a direct I/O read/write. The complete NHC command for reading the value is: ACPI.FIELD.ReadByOffset("_SB.PCI0.LPCB.EC0.ERAM", ref value, 0x50, 8) with "value" as the variable which gets the value.
What program logic do you need? You need a timer or something else that conducts an always-refresh cycle. It sounds very easy: You read the value, manipulate it and write it back. And it is that easy, you just have to keep some things in mind.
This refresh has to be done very often. The procedure must be very thin and quick. Also the bus that is used to communicate with the EC is a problem, but since the S10e BIOS 66 it became a minor problem for me because it looks like the built-in fan control now depends on some kind of average value over the last few seconds and it doesn't really matter if one write-cycle is failing.
The read-event must be placed before the write-event. Otherwise you just read your manipulated value. The field is filled by the system regularly, so you just have to test if the read_value is different from the written_value, then you know that the field was filled with a "fresh" value. Like "if read_temperatue <> written_temperature then real_cpu_temperature = read_temperature else do nothing".
About the values you have to write back... you will have to test and play a bit. My experience is that you can select three fan levels, starting at 59°, 62° and 70° - at least with the NHC profile and my S10e it's like that. It's some trial 'n' error. My fan stays off at < 59°, but you should select a very low value for fan_off like 30°. In my opinion it switches off much faster the lower the written value is. But it's just a feeling, I haven't measured it.

Perhaps some users from countries with other languages than German and English can add tags for "fan", "control" and "noise".

    Great opening post Carsten!
    The latest bios:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-71252 (BIOS 66)
The FSB can be reduced from 133MHz to 100MHz using SetFSB, this also reduces the heat:
    http://www13.plala.or.jp/setfsb/
    clockgen = SLG8SP513V
If you add a shortcut to the startup folder the program will start at startup. Under properties you can change the target to:
    "C:\Program Files\SetFSB\setfsb.exe" -s100 -b1 -cg[SLG8SP513V] -w20
So it starts with a FSB of 100Mhz, in the background, with the right clock generator, after 20 seconds.

  • ITunes access for the disabled (sort of)

In the nearly 9 years since I've been disabled I have had to use my card about 2 times.  Once was when I got divorced.  I dont know what the 2nd time was but I'm just figuring there was probably a second time.  And now this is the 3rd.
I am missing a part of my brain called the mammillary gland - it controls the development of short term memory & I dont have it.  So that, combined with some areas near that being damaged makes it hard to get things done when things are working properly let alone when you come across a poorly made piece of software or hardware.  My short term memory is nearly non existant but I do have one.  But I am able to get some stuff done, especially if its things that I was familiar with BEFORE.  And with repetition.  With regards to my issue & my problem with iTunes, I'm running into problems because I dont know what is going on as far as why so much of my stuff is just AWOL.  I dont know? I updated my operating system last week or so and with that came the iTunes update.  I look inside and all Hades has broken loose.   I know that nobody has the obligation to treat me differently or whatever just because I've got this problem.  But what is the DEAL with this forum moderation???  I paid for these products and for the right to use these forums.  Now i have no access to a decades plus worth of content PLUS i cant get help here??   I just want help.  Why are you guys so mean like this?
My last -  I dont know how many - but i would guess nearly TEN questions here have been deleted.  I dont understand why I see what nears 20 other people asking the same thing in nearly exactly the same terms - including a guy who has got THOUSANDS OF RESPONSES over in the windows section - thought that was my own post when I saw it!!!  and they're not deleted.  Mind you, I do NOT want theirs deleted, I just dont want MINE deleted.  What is going on?????  I'm not like riddling my posts wtih profanity every 3 words.
The whole issue here is that this newest version of iTunes - which is.... first of all, I gotta tell you throughout all the times I've been posting about it the past week or so I have had to go & look up the version no less than 25 times.  I can remember all the times I've done that but I can never quite keep track of what it says each time I look it up.  Very, very aggravating.  So I give up & I'm not going to check anymore.  I know its either 10, 11 or 12.  Not even going to try to check anymore.
OK So i cannot get anything to work in iTunes.  Its all messed up.  Features seem to be missing.  I dont know if they're even Supposed to be gone or if its just user-unfriendly.  I cannot find my stuff.  I've posted many, many, many specific questions regarding it and now I am  worried that THIS post is going to be deleted for being too genereal just because I've already posted 3000 other things asking the exact specific ones & I cant even remember them anymore after so many deletions.
ALSO , within iTunes, my phone is never backing up properly like it used to.  Its hard to explain this.  Really hard.
ANYWAY.   LIKE THOUSANDS OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE AND DO AND ARE SAYING....I NEED HELP.  I CAN NOT DO ANYTHING WITHIN ITUNES. TIME & TIME & TIME AGAIN I AM POSTING QUESTIONS ASKING (BEGGING BY NOW) FOR HELP WITH SPECIFIC FEATURES WITHIN ITUNES.
I CANT FIND CERTAIN THINGS I CANT DO CERTAIN THINGS, ETC.  YET WITH EVERY POST I MAKE...POOF.
SO WHAT YOURE DOING IS SELLING ME
    MUSIC
    APPS
    VIDEOS
FOR YEARS & YEARS & YEARS
MAKING ME TOTALLY UNABLE TO ACCESS IT
AND NOW MAKING ME TOTALLY UNABLE TO DISCUSS IT OR GET HELP FOR IT.
    WHAT.   THE.   HECK.
I will attempt to give this here post a little legitimacy by asking just one of my plethora of questions but I'm so exhausted (i mean literally physically exhausted by all the typing and retyping from all of the removed posts!!) Its hard to know where to start or which question out of all of them to pick.  I almost feel like if I choose the wrong one its game over for me or something.
I guess I really just want to know what to do like as far as figuring out why all of my libraries arent showing as far as music, videos, audiobooks - which are not bought thru Apple but until now had always shown in iTunes with no problem at all - and app
If a mod is eading this and feels like Im not adding enough or that i need to say more or say less please just let me know.   POSTS CAN BE EDITED!!!  THEY DONT ALL NEED TO BE DELETED.  I've had another 500000 posts and points it just like i said I keep getting removed.  I am literally physically exhausted.  But I keep trying because I need help.
Look I am sitting here in my house, dying of a freakin brain tumor.  Can I just at least have this?  I just want to not be bored.  Thats all I want.  I just want to be able to listen to my audiobook and music.  And I cant.  12 posts I managed to make it through an entire dozen posts without having to go there but now i'm forced to.   And if anyone noticed me mention that I had a brain injury in prior posts & now sees me say this, yes its true.  Its how I found out about the tumor.  (they sent me to get checked out post-injury & were like hey.  guess what?)

  • I repeatedly get "error during rendering/encoding of menus/slideshow" message.  This process is the same on my iMac, MacBook and another iMac.  I have been burning dvd's int he same way for the past 12 months using the exact same steps successfully.

I keep getting "error during rendering/encoding of menus/slideshows" message.  I have been burning DVD's in exactly the same way for the past 12 months and mostly on my MacBook which is 3 years old.  Obviously I'm using iDVD.  I purchased an iMac about a year ago and moved to use this for dvd burning without problem.  A few months ago (approximately) I started to experience problems with burning with the error message above.  I tried everything including starting the whole process from scratch right down to capturing the movie clips from my video recorder into iMovie, then using them in iDVD.  Still the same message came up.  I lost count of how many times I repeated the process with different clips and variations and the same thing happened.  This was also the case with my MacBook and my husband's iMac.
After taking both of mymac's tothe service centre, having new optical thingys put it and even a new hard drive on my iMac along with a new DVD burner the same thing happened.  They told me it must be the process that I am using that is incorrect!
I took my 27" iMac to an apple shop and asked them to assist me while I use the same technique as I always had.  The same message came up so they tried using my clips in one of their mac's.  The same message. They tried it with different clips and the same message.  The only way we could get theirs to work was with a magic DVD which did not produce what I needed and was limited with only one page.
I now cannot use any of my Mac's for the intended purpose that I bought them for - to produce good media for my work!  It was suggested that I purchase some non Mac software to burn DVDs which defeats the object of having a mac with iDVD in my opinion.  I have a book on iDVD which is very informative and have followed the process to the letter and checked all the trouble shooting and still no remedy.  It was mentioned that an up-date may have caused the problem on all my macs.
I feel that this issue should be addressed by Apple as a matter of correctness.
I now find that on the net there are many posts in forums and such like with exactly the same (almost word for word) problems.  Please Apple, keep/regain your good name and sort this out.
    Jayne Connelly

Thanks Bengt W for your attention to this matter.  So much appreciated.  And thanks for putting me right on the aim of forums (new to this).  Although, you may regret asking for more information.  I've added everything I can below.
The process I used is as follows:
Import recorded clips of between 5 and 15minutes each from my video recorder into i
Edit the clips (remove unwanted start and endng)
Add title to front of clips
‘Share’ them to ‘movie’ (export using QuickTime)folder in .mov format individually
Open iDVD and ‘create new project’
Select ‘favourite’ theme that I have set up forall my work dvd’s (this has been used successfully many times and I’ve triedwithout using the favourite them).
Add 2 submenus for each group of clips
Select submenu  - drag and drop between 3 – 6 clips in each of the twosubmenus
    Change title colours on clips
Dragand drop image into drop zones where required
In‘map’ view I check for any yellow warnings before burning to disc
In an attempt to remedy the problems I’ve tried the following:
    Try new DVD discs
Try different themes (favourites and standardones)
    Change images in drop zones
Start whole process again even from importingfrom camera again
Two other completely different computers (iMacand MacBook) with iDVD
Go to apple shop and use their computers to doin iDVD
Try with one clip and no menu pages added
Use a clip that I already have that did notoriginate from my camera
    Turn computer off and restart
    New hard drive
    New optical lense (thing)
    New DVD burner
Saving to disc image rather than dvd disc
    Other points:
I also have a ‘flip’ and ‘iPhone’ whereI’ve imported footage camera which, although limited, records and makes videoclips and burns them to DVD through iDVD without problem.
For example, I have just gone through steps 5 - 11 using some clips that were already imported from my iphone to iPhoto and dragged across.  I used a theme that I've used before which has failed and added one sub menu page where the clip went.  It burned to disc image successfully.
The startup disc, I believe will have no space issues asit’s a new hard drive with no use apart from this.  That could have been an issue before (I didn’t check it) butnot now.
Other technical stuff that I don't understand but you may:
    I have…… Mac OS X Version 10.6.7 with all updates onit.  Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Corei7.  Memory 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3.

  • My personal laundry list for the N8.

Notably, the bugs I have experienced thus far are:
    1. Inability for Wi-Fi to connect in Offline mode if you have previously gone to Offline mode and said No when activating an app that requires data connection.
    2. When you turn on the phone without a SIM card, then hit the Call button, it will stay in an infinite loop in the Dialer screen.  It'll ask you to please insert a sim card, followed by either OK or Cancel.  So after you insert the SIM card, you hit OK, then it repeats the question.  If you hit Cancel, it repeats the question.  You can't get out of this infinite cycle other than turning the N8 off.
    3. After a hard reset of your phone, the Ovi Social app is missing the widget for the home screen.  Yes, you can go to the Nokia Messaging OTA site to get the update, but after 2 hard resets, the installation of the update gives me a "Unable to install" error.  Which is a joke, because after the first hard reset it worked wonderfully.  And it never worked for me subsequently.
    4. Even after defining a WLAN destination, if you don't have a SIM card, you can't configure any mail other Mail for Exchange.  Yes, the new Mail app tries to use mail routed through Nokia, but at least give me the option to create mailboxes using old traditional direct IMAP or POP3.
    5. With my N95 and N97, as soon as I turn on my car (equipped with Nokia CK-100), I automatically get connected to BT HFP and A2DP profiles.  The car kit will tell me, "Phone connected."  A second later, "Player connected."  With the N8, the car kit will only connect to just the phone automatically.  For the player to connect while the car is on, I have to open up the music player and play a music, which will force N8 to make the A2DP connection.  So when that happens, you hear a 1.5 second message saying, "Player connected" followed by music that is already 2 to 3 seconds into the song.  I thought it was perhaps the Car Kit getting full with the list of paired devices (memory is for 8 pairings), but clearing the list doesn't help.  I thought it was the Car Kit firmware, so I upgraded it to 4.401, no luck.  Then when I tried my old N97 and N95, it worked as expected!  But not the N8.
    6. Sometimes after a hard reset, even when I respond with selecting my country/city and entering my time, the phone will start with the UK time zone instead.  The UTC time is correct, but for the wrong time zone.  Why does it do that?!?
    7. 60% of the time when I turn on the phone (even when it was Normal mode during the previous shut down), I do not get the classic Nokia tone when the iconic handshake video plays.  This is your brand recognition!  Something so valuable that it's impossible to put a dollar value on it.  And you botch that up?!?
    List of the reduced functionalities:
    1. In previous generations of Mail app, if an email contains what appears to be a phone number, Symbian will make it clickable so that you can call the number.  Not so with Mail app in S^3.
    2. In previous versions of Messaging app, if I receive a SMS, I can either click on the call button (no longer exists in the N8) or Options > Call to call the sender of the SMS automatically.  Now, with S^3, the Call option is no longer in Options.  Makes it really hard to call the SMS sender back while you're driving.
    3. In the previous generations of Mail app, I can call up the Listen option when I'm either in a Mailbox or have the email open, and it will read the email.  Now, this functionality only exists on the Messaging app, not Mail app.
    4. If you open up the Message Reader app, it will be able to playback all your SMS, MMS, Mail mailbox's messages.  Great, right?  But in order to listen to an email, you must first go through all the SMS messages first before it will play back any emails.  So if you have 20 SMSs, you have to click on the FFw button 20 times before you get to listen to your email.  Truly a brilliant design, whoever came up with that.
    5. In the previous Symbian web browsers, when I hit the Back button, I can either go back/forward using the left/right gestures, and selecting a page by tapping the page.  I also have the option of hitting the left or right arrows right above the soft keys and hitting Select (left soft key) or Cancel/Stop (right soft key).  In the N8, everything but the Select key is there.  Now it's replaced by a blank?!?  If you want to force me to use gestures and taps, then at least do me a favor and remove the left/right arrows on the screen.  (Surprisingly, if I invoke the web browser using the YouTube "app", the Select soft key appears during back/forward navigation.  Hmmm...)
    List of improvement suggestions:
    1. Whenever you're in a screen that has a tiny left/right arrow (such as reading an SMS message, or looking at your Messaging Inbox, allow me to swipe left or right to go to the previous/next message or folder.  This functionality already exists in the Calendar app.  So why stop there?  Not only that, but extend it to Settings menu!  Why should gestures be limited to up and down, except for the Calendar application that allows left/right?
    2. Allow landscape dialer, like the N97.
    3. Uhm, what happened to the Converter application?  It has been a staple of all Nokia phones, and suddenly it's missing from the flagship phone?  Nokia's comeback phone?!?
    4. A much simpler VPN application?  Look at what Apple did in just a little over a year.  A simple process of logging into Cisco VPN.  What's Nokia's way, after having VPN solution for years and years?  Still a mess.
    5. Previously, connectivity settings were easier to get to with the N91, N95 and N97.  Now, I have A) Menu > Options > Settings > Connectivity > Wi-Fi, and B) Menu > Options > Settings > Connectivity > Settings > Switch to Wi-Fi?  I can work around it as a power user.  What about those people who make up the biggest market share of iPhone users who are not technologically savvy?  And do you see the irony with Settings buried within Settings menu?
    6. Port all functionalities of PC Suite to Ovi Suite, and fix all the bugs in Ovi Suite.  The latest 3.0.0.271 still has bugs and missing functionalities.  Open back up the dual code development pipelines (PC Suite and Ovi Suite) to the N8 until all core functionalites are successfully brought over to Ovi Suite.
Nokia, I hope this thread captures your attention within the developers and management.  Thank you.

Status update after installing PR 1.1 version 013.016 for product code 059DV2 on 2011.02.20, plus new bug reports after testing and using PR 1.1 extensively for 44 days.  I thought I needed to put in this status update before installing PR 1.2, which became available on 2011.04.03 for my market.
    1. Inability for Wi-Fi to connect in Offline mode if you have previously gone to Offline mode and said No when activating an app that requires data connection.  Status as of PR 1.1:  Semi-fixed.  After installing PR 1.1, when you're in Offline mode and you use an App that required Internet connection and subsequently say No when asked if you want to allow WiFi in Offline mode, it will still prompt you later on.  But this is semi-fixed because sometimes, when the N8 is in Offline mode and you try to access an app that needs Internet connection, the question "Allow Wi-Fi connections during this offline period?" doesn't even bother to prompt you, other than "Conn. Unavailable" in the upper left corner of the screen.  What da?!?
Status as of PR 1.1:  Fixed.
Status as of PR 1.1:  Unknown.  Have not tried to do a hard reset, but now that Social is on 1.3, I'm sure the installer file now includes the widget.  But I also heard that the latest beta version of 1.3 (as of this writing) may require an uninstallation of older versions of Social first, otherwise it may fail.  Other reports indicate Social no longer works after the update.  Follow the discussion in betalabs.nokia.com for the Social 1.3 app.
    4. Even after defining a WLAN destination, if you don't have a SIM card, you can't configure any mail other Mail for Exchange.  Yes, the new Mail app tries to use mail routed through Nokia, but at least give me the option to create mailboxes using old traditional direct IMAP or POP3.  Status as of PR 1.1:  Still unfixed.  No SIM card, no ability to define a new mailbox other than Mail for Exchange.  You absolutely must have SIM card.  Why?!?
Status as of PR 1.1:  Still broken.  I won't be able to test this out with PR 1.2, since I ripped out Nokia CK-100 and installed CK-600.  I've never used the N97 with CK-600, so I don't know if the A2DP connection is automatic or not, but with N8 PR 1.1 and either CK-100 or CK-600, the A2DP connection is still NOT automatic.
    6. Sometimes after a hard reset, even when I respond with selecting my country/city and entering my time, the phone will start with the UK time zone instead.  The UTC time is correct, but for the wrong time zone.  Why does it do that?!?  Status as of PR 1.1:  Unknown.  I've only done 1 hard reset since upgrading to PR 1.1, and it didn't misbehave.  But during PR 1.0, the behavior wasn't constant, but half the time.
    7. 60% of the time when I turn on the phone (even when it was Normal mode during the previous shut down), I do not get the classic Nokia tone when the iconic handshake video plays.  This is your brand recognition!  Something so valuable that it's impossible to put a dollar value on it.  And you botch that up?!?  Status as of PR 1.1:  Still a problem.  Now, it seems like 90% of the time when I turn on the N8, the Nokia tone doesn't play during the hand shake.
    8. [New bug in PR 1.1] Light time-out:  I never had a problem with this in N8 PR 1.0, but only started noticing this in PR 1.1.  When you have a browser up and running, and you leave the N8 alone, like no movement or screen activity such as leaving it on a table, the screen doesn't black out after the allotted time setting in Settings > Phone > Display > Light time-out.  It will go dim, but the screensaver never kicks in.  This happens 75% of the time, and is quite annoying.  This behavior seems to manifest itself when you're in an app that requires Internet connection, such as the browser or email application.
    9. [New bug in PR 1.1 or possibly in PR 1.0 as well] Apps dependent on operator even on unlocked and unsubsidized Nokia phones:  I am not sure if this is a new problem with PR 1.1 or existed in PR 1.0, but it appears that some apps like Social, Email and Ovi Maps are dependent on operator permissions, even if the device is unsubsidized and purchased unlocked.  I don't know if this is a problem with PR 1.0 because when I traveled from 2011.02.25 to 2011.03.10, I already upgraded my N8 to PR 1.1.  But basically, after I popped in a pre-paid SIM card at another country, starting Social and trying to log in will tell me something along the lines of checking with the operator and then telling me I cannot use Social.  (I traveled to China.)  But I could kind of work around it by exiting, then tapping the Social widget.  Sometimes hitting refresh will somehow allow me to get Facebook updates in China, and sometimes it will tell me Service Unavailable.  Likewise with Ovi Maps.  When I was back home in the USA, I had many other online services, like Time Out, Lonely Planet, Trip Advisor, etc.  But once I popped in a Chinese SIM card and go online with the operator (3G or Edge), all my online services disappeared, and replaced with Chinese services which was totally useless as my USA N8 cannot render Chinese characters.  Mind you, I did not connect to 3G or Edge for a few days, so during those few days when I was just using WiFi, I was still able to look up things in English in Trip Advisor, such as nearby restaurants or hotels.  But as soon as I connected online via SIM operator network, features started disappearing.  Same with email behavior.  No SIM inserted, can't configure new email mailboxes.  No SIM card, Social displays "Service is not available" even if I have WiFi AP connected.  The important question here is, why are unlocked and unsubsidized S^3 phones even checking with the operator if I can run whatever services?
    List of the reduced functionalities:
    1. In previous generations of Mail app, if an email contains what appears to be a phone number, Symbian will make it clickable so that you can call the number.  Not so with Mail app in S^3.  Status as of PR 1.1:  Still a problem.
Status as of PR 1.1:  Still a problem.
    3. In the previous generations of Mail app, I can call up the Listen option when I'm either in a Mailbox or have the email open, and it will read the email.  Now, this functionality only exists on the Messaging app, not Mail app.  Status as of PR 1.1:  Still a problem.
Status as of PR 1.1:  Still a problem.
Hmmm...)  Status as of PR 1.1:  Still a problem.
    6. [New reduction of functionality in PR 1.1] This is truly a new one for Nokia - Breathing Light Notification:  In the N8 PR 1.1, when you go to Settings > Phone > Notification lights > Notification light > Events notified, you can now enable/disable 2 events:  "Missed call" and "New message".  But in PR 1.0, you had a third choice:  "New email".  Uhm...  **bleep**?!?  Why would Nokia remove a notification event type?!?  Is the business justification that nobody cared enough about the breathing light that having some extra lines of code for notification of new emails would be a waste of precious firmware C:\ drive space?!?
    7. No ability to specify which drive to use for Mailbox repository:  In the previous iterations of Symbian, I could tell the mailbox which drive to use, the C:\ drive or the mass storage or even the memory card.  Now, that flexibility is gone.  Why is this a problem?  Recently, I was sending a bunch of emails with big attachments, and suddenly, I was notified that C: drive was running out of memory!  What do you know?  The Sent mail is stored in C:\ drive!  That's real smart, considering real estate in C:\ drive is already little to begin with.

    2. Allow landscape dialer, like the N97.  Status as of PR 1.1:  Added!  Kudos!
    3. Uhm, what happened to the Converter application?  It has been a staple of all Nokia phones, and suddenly it's missing from the flagship phone?  Nokia's comeback phone?!?  Status as of PR 1.1:  Nokia is still ignoring me on this one.
