Forgot iPod password - Help Me!

Ive forgot my ipod 5th gen password, when i try to restore it on iTunes it comes up with a message saying 'The iPhone update server could not be contacted'.. And the option to sync is grey and it wont let me click it. All i want to do is factory reset it as i have all my things on my ipad, thank god for iCloud. So i dont think I even need to sync anything..HELP

Try:
- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
OpenDNS IP Addresses
- For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem

My sleep/wake button is broken/jammed and I forgot my password help

I need to restore but in order to do that I need to put my phone in recovery mode. However, my sleep/wake button does not work. It's jammed I think because I can't press down on it. The button isn't a big deal to me but since I forgot my lock code I don't know what else to do. I no longer have access to the computer I orginally synced it to. You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.
