Form-factor of Arduino R3 pin layout on FRDM-K64F

Hello,
I have just got my FRDM-K64F board and I'd like to add a few sensors to it to test it out. I've read that the board has a form-factor of Arduino™ R3 pin layout and I am not sure what that means when I am buying sensors (i2C, SPI, UART interfaces) for this board. I understand that I can just connect any sensor using a breadboard and cables but I was thinking that maybe this Arduino R3 pin layout is something that makes it easier?
As you probably can see, my HW skills a nothing to brag about....
Many Thanks
Andy

Hi Andy,
we've experienced the board with GSM modem arduino shield without any problem. You only need to check revision of your board since one of the first version contains a bug with incorrect pin routing that affects I2C (or SPI I don't remember)

  • When will we get a proper form factor adaptive layout function?

I'm deliberately not putting this in the long requested features thread because adaptive layout isn't a feature, it is a basic function of all Windows Apps, except for those built by Project Siena.
I was dumbstruck to see that the often requested "support for different form factors" was translated to "exclusively for a specific form factor". Designing for one excludes the others. This is not at all useful.
While I can understand the need to design for different screen formats portrait versus landscape, because of a fixed layout there should have been:
    1. a template that works for 16:9, 16:10, 3:2 that would adapt to the form factor
    2. maybe a portrait template
    3. and most important a function that combines two templates (as per above) and writes out some code that detects orientation so that
    4. Project Siena could produce/publish/publish for store a single project that would allow use on any form factor, any orientation without needing to specify landscape/landscape flipped only - or portrait (etc.)
What do others think? To me this is more important than more widgets or anything else. Including Windows Phone would be a nice extra, but to be able to product a single project that would work transparently on all form factors and orientations is now the
single more important function I need.
It would be good to have a response from the community and a statement from Microsoft.
As someone who has 14 (not a typo, 14) apps built with Project Siena in the Windows Store, this is important.

This is a reason why I still don't work on my project design. I don't want to end up to recreating all my design. I think the only way is to add percentage size and positioning into visuals so they will adjust by it self when run
on different devices. I don't know how it could be done without it. Once you create app with visuals width set to 1000 pixels and run it on device with resolution 800*600 (example) then it obviously won't fit. However to set the visuals
width to 100% would fit logically to all devices. But this option should be implemented log time ago so we can prepare our apps for this new feature. Am I right or you working on different solution?

    Hi All,
I have a two node installation of EBS R12.0.4 running on HP-UX Itanium.

  • Does anyone know of a mini sterio with surround sound and optical input in Mac Mini form factor?

Does anyone know of a mini sterio with surround sound and optical input in Mac Mini form factor?
I use a Mini as the family media center and would like to have 5.1 or 7.1 sound for films but don't want a huge piece of eletronic equipment (I have one of those, but it isn't hooked up because it doesn't fit on the bookshelf). Years ago I used a PC and still use the Creative Audigy speaker system (Jimmy rigged to the Mini) that I ran from the PC. The Audigy PCI sound card obviously doesn't work on the Mini, so I just have two chanel plus sub. That has been fine since I switched to the Mini in 2007, but am updating to a new Mini in the summer and would like to upgrade my sound as well.
I also wouldn't be opposed to a USB soundcard that can drive the speakers. In fact, my wife would prefer smaller and less visible, ergo USB card hidden in the back.
    Suggestions?

Hello John, I figured it was a signal issue. All the speakers fire and the sound is great. I was running the speakers thru a Dell PC with a Creative X-Fi Elite Pro, THX Certified, 7.1 soundcard using a fiber optic from the Mac Pro to the Z906's, it worked great until the Dell died!!! When I bought the soundcard from Creative I also bought the GigaWorks S750, THX Certified, 700 watt, 7.1 speaker system, used the speakers for 11 years and then the woofer/amp said "I QUIT" Creative quit making the speaker system and the sound card. The satellite speakers from the Creative GigaWorks speaker system still sound great (rated at 78 watt each) and are a little better speaker than the one's that came with the Z906 and the wattage from the 906 is sufficient to drive the satellites without any distortion. Thank you for addressing my issue, you confirmed what I suspected all along, just needed to hear it from someone with the same setup.
One last question, I purchased a Diamond Multimedia USB Soundcard, can't use the fiber optic(not supported by Mac) but the green, tan and black RCA's plug in and produces adequetly. When you plug your 906's into the Mac Pro using the fiber optic how do you set your speaker configuration? When I plug into the mac pro with fiber optic the 'Audio Midi Setup' does not seem to see the 5.1 configuration. Any thoughts there?

  • Dual monitors HP Z200 Small Form Factor Workstation

I am waiting on my new Intel I-5 HP Z200 Small Form Factor Workstation running Windows 7.  What do I need to run two monitors?  I believe that there is an HDMI and a DVI video output on the rear - can I run two monitors off of these two outputs or do I need a video card?  If I buy a video card do I need one with two HDMI outputs (my preferred connection) or can I use the one on the motherboard and one on an add in card siumultaneously?

    Hi,
For that card, with the right connectors and adaptors you can connect to TWO minitors ( Drive up to two 30-inch (2560x1600) digital displays through native dual DisplayPort connectors on a low-profile card.):

It appears to be completely random with no patterns (eg particular application or time) and happens several times a day. I have done the following: - checked event viewer for errors or warnings (none) - checked to see if a dump file is created (none) - run a CPU Stress test and monitoring the temperatures (max 70C) - run a RAM test (memtest) with no errors reported - run a HDD test (spinrite) with no errors reported - run a windows system file check (sfc) with 100% valid file integrity - downloaded and installed latest drivers - installed latest windows updates I feel I have exhausted all options short of either a complete OS reload (i would prefer not to do) or a warranty return. Any ideas?

    Hello RTerrell,
If your computer is locking up and there are bands of lines going down the screen then something is failing hardware wise
    1. Memory
    2. Video Card
    3. Power Supply
There could also be bulging capacitors on the boards.
The best thing is to start ruling out hardware components by swapping in new ones. The power supply being the first easy one. Then try with one stick of RAM at a time, try replacing the RAM with other RAM. Finally replace the video card. If it's still failing after that then it may be the motherboard, but I'm hesitant to think that.

  • No Audio from HP Compaq 6000 Pro Small Form Factor PC display port

    Hi
I have a HP Compaq 6000 Pro Small Form Factor PC that has a display port. I bought a display port-HDMI adapter to use it on my LG plasma TV. The video is fine but i get no audio.
Please what do i need to do? does my display port support audio? The symbol on it has the DP++ sign which indicates it should support audio.
    Please assist me.

    Hi:
To the best of my knowledge, your PC does not support audio out of the display port.
Check your sound and playback  menu in the contol panel, and see if you have 2 HD audio selection choices. If not, you won't be able to get sound out of the display port.

  • 3548-XL-EN to switch with small form-factor pluggable (SFP) ports

Is it possible to connect my 3548 with a WS-G5484 directly to a 3560-24TS
with small form-factor pluggable (SFP) port?

Yes.. You will need a LC-SC connector. The part number for a 10-Meter Fiber Multimode SX LC-to-SC Connectors is "CSS5-CABSX-LCSC"

  • What replacement power supply for m72e small form factor

    Simple question
I have a bunch of lenovo m72e small form factor pc's.
is the power supply a standard tfx or some sort of proprietary system.
I was thinking of upgrading and also preparing for furture failure contingency.

Many thanks for the update.  it is as i feared.  i hate the proprietary major components.... oh well, thank goodness for ebay.
also, much less important as I figured out how to sysprep a machine to move windows recently.  Since our office FINALLY migrated to windows 7 x64; any future upgrades will be fairly easy on a modern OS.
The m72e we purchased have 3 years support build in so it should be a while before I have to worry about servicing them.
Having said all this, the Dell vostro 200 systems we have are 7 years old and trucking along with no service issues so far.
Lenovo machines were cheaper / on sale at the time and dell has since discontinued their vostro line so we tried the switch over on 1/2 our workstations @ the office.
The speed of the system is fine but there are certainly some bios/hardware bugs that we have noted around the network card.
I doubt we will transition the rest of the systems to lenovo at this point.  Sure is easy to service when all your systems are from 1 vendor and the exact same lineage though.

  • Two form factor authentification for encryption with luks ?

    Hello arch forum'
I plan to move to arch til' 2 weeks but i'am looking to do a 2 form factor authentification for a LUKS encrypted system.
Actually, i have read the whole page at >https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dm-crypt_with_LUKS#Adding_Additional_Passphrases_or_Keyfiles_to_a_LUKS_Encrypted_Partition
But i dont understand if its possible to do a passphrase + keyfile strategy, by the way, if one of the both condition are not completed, the partition is unreadable/stay encrypted.
Keyfile only strategy is useless in my plan, since i need do have my laptop secured Even if someone have physical access to it.
The ideal will be to have the passphrase to enter at boot + keyfile on a USB key
    Sincerely
    Sptnaz

Yeah i will try on a Vmware vm before ..
    So after i read this > https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 38#p943338
Tell me if i'am wrong :
    1/ The drive/os is encrypted with AES256-XTS512
2/ The "Keyfile" is  GPG/OpenSSL encrypted , can be stored on external media
3/ After all the change done like in the how to, i will need to enter a passphrase (longer is better) FOR the KEYFILE , then the KEYFILE will be unlocked and the encrypted contant on the OS too.
By the way, did ARCH need to put somes data to the MBR of the drive ? I'am using multi-boot system on a 940GB Crucial M5 ssd, with
1/ Windows 7 os for home
2/ Windows 7 os for work
3/ Penetration testing live CD of BT5
    4/ > Encrypted OS (Arch)
I think its more likely a clean-partitoning affair but tell me if i'am wrong.
