Form in dreamweaver generating FrontPage errors

Hello,
I inherited a custom-built HTML site with two forms that need re-directing:
http://www.imagecandyusa.com (see top righthand Quote Form)
When I submit each form, I receive the following error messages:
http://www.imagecandyusa.com/_vti_bin/shtml.exe/index.htm
Is this error message an indication that the form was built in FrontPage?  If so, what is the best way to convert the form?

If your host doesn't have form-to-email processing scripts you can use & your server supports PHP, these links may help:

  • Form created in Microsoft Frontpage?

    Hello,
    I am attempting to fix a form using Dreamweaver.  The form is located at the top-right corner of http://www.imagecandyusa.com
    The code for the form is as follows:
    <form method="POST" action="_vti_bin/shtml.exe/index.htm" onSubmit="" name="IC_home_page" webbot-action="--WEBBOT-SELF--">
    <!--webbot bot="SaveResults" U-File="_private/form_results.csv" S-Format="TEXT/CSV" S-Label-Fields="TRUE" startspan B-Reverse-Chronology="FALSE" S-Email-Format="TEXT/PRE" S-Email-Address="[email protected]" B-Email-Label-Fields="TRUE" B-Email-Subject-From-Field="FALSE" S-Email-Subject="SEND ME A QUOTE" S-Builtin-Fields="REMOTE_NAME REMOTE_USER HTTP_USER_AGENT Date Time" U-Confirmation-Url="confirm.htm" S-Date-Format="%A, %B %d, %Y" S-Time-Format="%I:%M:%S %p" --><input TYPE="hidden" NAME="VTI-GROUP" VALUE="0"><!--webbot bot="SaveResults" endspan i-checksum="43374" -->
    The form is returning a 404 Error File Not Found:
    http://imagecandyusa.com/_vti_bin/shtml.exe/index.htm
    Although I checked with the webhost and the filepath above does exist, I believe there may be an error somewhere in the code.
    Can anyone identify what software was used to create this form or how I may resolve this issue?
    Sincerely,

    My web host supports FrontPage. I don't know why, but they say theyhave a lot of people using it. FrontPage was originally created by the Cambridge, Massachusetts company Vermeer Technologies, Incorporated, which is why the files and directories for FrontPage have vti in them.
    Frankly, if they were going to support something right out of the starting gate, I think they should support WordPress, which is actually being developed, rather than FrontPage.
    Where FrontPage extensions are in place on a server and are properly configured to handle email, FrontPage will provide you the ability to specify an email address to send the form data to as a property of the form. The program then generates the instructions needed to utilize the Webbot in the FrontPage Extensions on the server to send out your email.
    This proprietary system cannot be accessed by Dreamweaver. Instead, Dreamweaver can help you create a script in a language hosted on your server, like php or ASP or ColdFusion that will do the "heavy lifting" of processing the result of the form and sending an email in response.
    If the rest of your website was built using FrontPage, It's advisable to rebuild it in Dreamweaver. To do this, you'll need an understanding of HTML and CSS. Then, for your form, you would build that in Dreamweaver and use the scripting language available on your server. Since php is free and open source, most servers have that.
    Here is a link for a tutorial for creating a contact form in HTML4.01 and CSS3, where you can download the script that runs in the background.

  • Script for Form validator in head causes error

    When I use the Window/Behaveiors/ to create a form validator, Dreamweaver CS5 puts script in the Head of page, and seems to work ok. But when I validate page with W3c it says there are errors with code and as Dreamweaver created this I have no idea what to do to put right, so could someone please help. This is code generated by Dreamweaver, all other pages have past with flying colors!
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function MM_validateForm() { //v4.0
      if (document.getElementById){
        var i,p,q,nm,test,num,min,max,errors='',args=MM_validateForm.arguments;
        for (i=0; i<(args.length-2); i+=3) { test=args[i+2]; val=document.getElementById(args[i]);
          if (val) { nm=val.name; if ((val=val.value)!="") {
            if (test.indexOf('isEmail')!=-1) { p=val.indexOf('@');
              if (p<1 || p==(val.length-1)) errors+='- '+nm+' must contain an e-mail address.\n';
            } else if (test!='R') { num = parseFloat(val);
              if (isNaN(val)) errors+='- '+nm+' must contain a number.\n';
              if (test.indexOf('inRange') != -1) { p=test.indexOf(':');
                min=test.substring(8,p); max=test.substring(p+1);
                if (num<min || max<num) errors+='- '+nm+' must contain a number between '+min+' and '+max+'.\n';
          } } } else if (test.charAt(0) == 'R') errors += '- '+nm+' is required.\n'; }
        } if (errors) alert('The following error(s) occurred:\n'+errors);
        document.MM_returnValue = (errors == '');
    </script>

    If the script is working fine in all browsers, you could put it in an external JS file and link to it, then the W3C validator won't find an error.
    If you don't know already, learn about how to do this:

  • Generate an error message that Adobe Reader 8 or later is required

    Afternoon all,
    I have created a form (in Acrobat 10 Pro) with a lot of scripts and we have determined that they do not all work as desired in Adobe Reader 7 and earlier.
    Is there a way to generate an error message if a user opens this form with Adobe 7 or earlier?
    We would like a message to pop up advising the user that Adobe 8 or later is required for this form.
    It does not have to lock them out or anything, we just want to advise them.
    Thanks much,
    Steve

    Thanks,
    This is how my bosses want this done. For one part, some of the functionality we are using just doesn't exist in Reader prior to version 8. For others, the users don't really have an option to go elsewhere.
    As for thescript, i am not sure how to apply it. Where do i access the initial page's open event?
    I do know how to enter document level scripts (this form has several) but what does "outside of a function definition" mean and how do i do that?
    Thanks everyone,
    steve

  • Satndard SAP script or form name to generate FI invoice

    Plz let me know if u know the standard SAP script or form name to generate the FI invoice.
    Regards
    Nivetha.

    Hi,
    I guess the terminology's causing some problems.  Here's what I think you need to do;
    In transaction V/30 select the Output Type then double-click on the folder 'Processing Routines'.  The columns are as follows;
    Medium - Print, email etc
    Program - Name of the print program
    FORM Routine - name of the subroutine in the print program that will be called
    Form - Name of the SAPscript (if used)
    PDF/Smartform Form - Name of the Smartform, or pdf form (if used)
    Type - If a Smartform or pdf form is specified, select from this drop-down which type it is.
    If you're getting an error when you enter your parameters, it would be useful if you told us what the error was.
    Regards,
    Nick

  • Should I learn Dreamweaver or FrontPage to make web pages?

    Should I learn Dreamweaver or FrontPage to make web pages?
    Both Dreamweaver and FrontPage are WYSIWYG (What You See Is
    What You Get) web page editors. For basic web page development,
    either one will do the job. In a review in the October 2001 issue
    of PC Magazine, both programs were awarded five out of five stars
    and both were Editors' Choice winners. FrontPage was cited as the
    pick for ease of use, while Dreamweaver was the pick for advanced
    applications. Compare the pros and cons for each program below and
    make your choice. If you feel really adventurous, learn both!
    Dreamweaver
    Pros Cons
    Relatively low-cost educational price ($99)
    Available in Education labs
    Produces very "clean" HTML code; easy to transport and work
    with
    Available in identical versions for both Windows and
    Macintosh platforms
    Supports development of your own template for pages in a
    website
    Relatively easy to set up for communicating with a server
    from office or home
    Powerful set of features for adding interactive elements to
    web pages
    Extensible - many extensions are available on the Macromedia
    website
    Has built-in tools to clean up HTML from other sources, such
    as Microsoft Word
    More expensive than FrontPage
    Not available in all labs across campus
    Not currently supported by SOE Technical Support Services
    Somewhat difficult to learn at first
    FrontPage
    Pros Cons
    Very low-cost -- free on-campus and only $5 for off-campus
    use via Campus Microsoft Agreement
    Available in labs across campus
    Supported by SOE Technical Support Services
    Easy to learn because of the familiar Microsoft menus and
    toolbars
    Comes equipped with many predesigned web page templates
    Very easy to edit on SOE servers
    Easy to add some features, such as some forms, to web pages
    Doesn't produce code as cleanly as Dreamweaver
    Current edition is available for Windows only; Macintosh
    version is outdated and no longer being updated
    Some features are specific to the Microsoft platform only
    Lacks Dreamweaver's interactive development tools

    I have re-opened this bug as I am still able to reproduce the problem with
    Designer 6i Release 2.
    Test case is Headstart Demo application form HSD0016F.
    I noticed that when you generated the form above, you did not use the
    Headstart object library, but used the Designer object library instead.
    Could you try generating the form using the Headstart object library and
    template package.
    The version of headstart you have has the workaround in place in this form.
    Therefore, you will need to edit the module before you generate it.
    In the module componenet EMP, change the Placement property from New Tab
    Canvas Page to New Content Canvas.
    (Due to another bug, you should also blank out the height on all displayed
    columns of type date or datetime in all 3 module components.)
    Generate the module.
    I get the following results:

    I have finally been able to pin down why this is happening with Headstart
    generated applications and not with applications using the default Designer
    object library.
    In our object library, the standard source object CGSO$BLOCK has a number of
    block level triggers, and one item. These are standard and need to be on
    every 'normal' block generated with Headstart.
    However, this makes it impossible to generate a form with block 1 on the
    content canvas followed by 2 or more blocks on tabbed canvases on the same
    page.
    If I remove the block level triggers and item, I can generate this form
    (though of course this is useless to me because I lose all Headstart
    functionality).
    Furthermore, if I try to explicitly direct Designer to use another object from
    the object library, by recoding a Template/Library Object on the module
    components, the form generator ignores this and uses CGSO$BLOCK anyway.
    Suggested workaround:
    - copy qmsolm65.fmb and qmsolb65.olb to another name (e.g. qmswrkrn.fmb and
    qmswrkrnd.olb
    - in qmswrkrn.fmb add a new block, qmsso$save_triggers. Make this block an
    exact copy of cgso$block including triggers and item.
    - change the blocks that used to subclass from cgso$block to now subclass from
    qmsso$save_triggers
    - in cgso$block, remove the triggers and item
    - generate the qmswrkrnd.olb object library
    - for each module in Designer that requires the blocks on tab layout, go to
    the form level preferences and set the standard object library to qmswrkrn.olb
    - generate the form(s)
    - do a post-generation modification to subclass the data blocks from the
    qmsso$save_triggers block
    I'm glad to see you've raised the Development Priority to 1. This is probably
    the single most popular layout for a master with multiple details, and it is
    really crippling not to be able to generate this layout. We are already
    getting complaints from our beta clients.
    Just a reminder, you can duplicate this bug using the Headstart demo
    application form hsd0016f. You must change module component EMP to use layout
    style 'New Content Canvas'. (It is currently set to New Tab Page.) You must
    also be sure to use the Headstart object library and template form when you
    generate.
    *** 01/25/01 07:05 am ***
    Found a much simpler workaround! In object library maintenance form
    qmsolm65.fmb, set Visible property of cgso$block.qms$block_info to Yes. Then
    re-create qmsolb65.olb object libary. Form will now generate.
    Since this is the second problem we have found in Headstart related to having
    a hidden item in cgso$block, for Headstart 6i I am eliminating this item.
    In the meantime, use this workaround for Headstart 6i beta and for Patch 13.

  • Contact forms in dreamweaver

    I wondering if I could get some guidance on building contact forms in dreamweaver.

    Forms are the easy part.  It's just HTML5 code.

    Form processing scripts are a bit more complex.  Start by asking your hosting provider if they have scripts you can use.  If not, find out which server-side programming languages are supporting by your plan -- php, asp.net, perl, cold fusion, etc...  This will narrow your search to the scripts you can use on your server.

  • "Open Vi Reference" generates a Error 7

    Hello,
      I am getting "Error 7" from the "Open VI Reference" vi, the name of the vi is wired vi path input. The "Error 7" means that the vi cannot be found. So I went to "Tools ===> Options ===> Paths" and modified the Path so that Labview can find it. But for reasons I do not understand the vi I want to get a reference for cannot be found. So it leads me to beleive that the "Open vi Reference" does not use the path option to find a vi. Any ideas what is going on?
    Regards,

    Hello,
      Thanks for getting back to me. I have attached a file fo the screenshot of the Block diagram. The "Open Vi Reference" is in the upper left hand corner, which generates a error when I have updated the path options to point to where the file exists.

    Making the HTML form is easy but the form processing script which collects data & sends it to your email is not quite so simple.   Start with your web host.  Ask them if they have form-to-email processing scripts you can use.  If they don't, find out which scripts your hosting plan supports (php, asp, asp.net, perl, coldfusion, etc...)

  • I need to create a fillable form and then generate a reports.

    Hello everybody. I need to create a fillable form and then generate a report using numbers. You know, for example if you have customers, I need to be able to write the usual , name, last name, address, and some other details and then using a standard letter I would like the form to be able to populate these fields automatically in a standard pre formatted letter by our company and then be able to print it.
    Any help to point me in the right direction I would appretiate very much.
    I have iwork 9 installed in my macbook pro

    This is acalled a mail merge and is solved using a combination of Numbers (or address book) and Pages.  To get detailed help how to performa a mail merge start in Pages, then in the help menu type Mail Merge:
    Also download the help files for Numbers and Pages here:

    I recently got a new computer because my old one wouldn't let me open creative suite 3 after it generated a error and now I can't deactivate the key to activate it onto my new computer. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    You are allowed to have two activted installations, so if the first machine is the only machine with an activated installation there is nothing prohibiting you from installing and activating on the new machine.
    You can contact Adobe Support thru chat to have the old installation deactivation.
