Form PDF Save/Export so no longer a form?

I am working to create a layout, exported to a PDF, form fields added that will be sent to a company's department as like a master document. They would then take that, fill in the info and either save it out or export it so they can email it to another department. I would like for what that receiver gets to look like a NON-form pdf so that one they can't change what had been customized nor see where the forms even were.
How would I go about doing this?

Gilad (and all the rest of you Acrobat JavaScripters) –
Two days ago built a new pdf using the above steps as I had before to flatten the pages but I noticed something that was wrong (and may or may not, have been there back in August with the first batch I did. I need to editable text fields to flatten, but I need any interactive nav elements like buttons that jump to another page, or buttons that launch a website. These are all transparent objects on top of my pdf layout.
So I started messing around with the nNonPrint and got Adobe on the phone who are looking in to it. Here is where I am at on my own:
this.flattenPages({nStart: 0, nEnd: 5, nNonPrint: 1});
This works with flattening the text fields and keeps the nav points as long as the properties > General > Common Properties are changed from “visible” to “visible but doesn’t print”
BUT its not obeying the start and stop functions. Its flattening the entire document.
SO where:
this.flattenPages(0,5);
worked perfectly to flatten just the pages I want it to, is there a way to keep that code and add the nNonPrint in there?
THANKS!

Can I simultaneously save a form as a PDF and export to Excel?

Regardless of your goal yes, it would be separate steps - but let me see if I understand what you want so I can explain better...
I am assuming you want to export the response data to Excel, this is an action from the "File" = "Export Responses" menu item and can export all of the response data to Excel at one time (also has the option of PDF or CSV).  That would be done as one step, exporting to Excel.  If you also wanted a PDF version of the table with all responses you could repeat that and select "PDF" the second time.
If you want PDF's of each individual response (you can "Download Response as PDF" which is a PDF that looks like the original form filled out) then that is also a separate step and has to be done individually for each response you want to download as PDF.

  • Acrobat 9.4.2 does not save/export all graphic formats

    Dear all,
Obviously i had my glass of wine to early! See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/798630 for the whole story of my re-re-re-istallation of Acrobat.
The installation of 9.0 from the TCS2 DVD was OK
After update to 9.2 my tests displayed correct results for all desired tasks
After the update to 9.4.2 i obviously did not test thoroughly enough (hence the glass of whine).
Later it turned out that 9.4.2 does not save/export graphic formats:
pdf (all flavours), eps and ps are exported correctly
html (all flavours) export a html file and the image as jpg correctly
jpg, jp2 does not save anything, and no error message gives a hint
doc, rtf save issue error message "Save As failed to process this document. No file has been created"
png and tif do not save anything, and no error message gives a hint
xml table and xml export correctly
txt (both flavours) are exported correctly
Hence the only method i can get a picture is to export as HTML and through away the HTML... or: enlarge the picture as much as possible on the screen and take a screen shot.
What is missing in this installation?
During my re-re-re-installtions some Windows updates may have happened.
Any help available for this issue?
    Klaus Daub e

The story goes on and hopefully Adobe has an answer/fix for this
There was an automatic update from 9.4.2 to 9.4.3, but the problem still existed.
So I decided to uninstall Acrobat and re-install it for the nth time: start with the installation of 9.0 from TCS2, reboot, update to 9.2, reboot, update to 9.4.3 and reboot again.
The result is very mixed (and this was alrady with the newly installed 9.0):
Save as RTF or DOC creates RTF and DOC files - although the contents is not that useful.
    Save as PNG is OK
Save as JPG, JP2 or TIF works, but it turns out, that the files are all PNG (although with the various extensions)!
Creating a snapshot now works correctly. The clipboard receives a bitmap. However: although I have set the preferences for the snapshot to be of 96 dpi the bitmap gets the property 72 dpi!
Setting acrobat.exe to be Compatible to XP SP3 does not change a jota.
Keep in mind: on Windows XP things worked correctly for a long time. Switching to Window 7, x64 creates this strange problem.
I need to start with Acrobat from the TCS2 DVD, because otherwise I do not get the correct implementation for working with FrameMaker.
I'm very reluctant to buy Acrobat X, for me there are too many gimmics there (besides the costs).

  • Getting message while opening PDF file exported from InDesign

    Hi,
We have created an interactive PDF in InDesign. In this PDF we have created 15-20 pages which are link together and next previous button is provided.
We are using InDesign CS3 and PDF reader 9. PDF is exported for version 8 onwards. Exported PDF is working properly on our machine but our client is receving the following message on their machine if they try to open this PDF (they have PDF reader 8):
"Please Note: You cannot save a completed copy of this form on your computer. If you would like a copy for your records, Please fill it in and print it"
We have not used any kind of form in my PDF only internal page hyperlinks are given.
Attached screen shot is given for your reference.
Is there as way for remove this message so it doen not appear? I would really appriciate if anybody can help me out.
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Regards,
    Deepika

    Deepika,
The alert dialog your screen shot depicts will only display if there is some kind of form annotation present in a PDF that is not "Reader Enabled".
Look closer at your 'final' PDF.
A PDF, not "Reader Enabled", that contains any form annotations will, when opened by Adobe Reader,
result in the alert dialog that you mention. A "hard wired" default.
Note that the forms document message bar can be "off" by a selection in Adobe Reader / Acrobat Preferences.
Select the 'Forms' category. Select "Always hide forms document message bar".
    Be well...

  • Is it possible to save/export Messages created in the Discussions Panel?

Is there a way to save/export messaegs created in the discussions panel?  For example, when saving a report to PDF or Excel, is it possible to include the discussion messages?  Is there a way to query the Discussion Messages so that they could appear on a report?

You can't query for discussions directly in a report.  In the CMS database this information in a binary format.
You would have to either use the Query Builder tool or write a program using the SDK to get to it.  The query you would run looks something like this:
    Select *
    from CI_INFOOBJECTS
where SI_PARENTID = (SI_ID of the report the discussion is attached to)
      and SI_HIDDEN_OBJECT = 1
      and SI_KIND = 'DISCUSSIONS'

  • View PDF after export - grayed out

I JUST upgraded from CS3 to CS4 and now this box is grayed out in my PDF export options. So I now have to launch the PDF manually instead of it being automatically launched after being created. Am I doing something wrong, or is this option no longer available?

Well, I guess it was Halloween and some ghosts got into my update because now I am able to choose the "View PDF after Export" option. It was not available when I tried to edit the PDF preset but it's available once I actually use the preset to generate a PDF. Go figure.

  • Share PDF Save Presets

I'm looking for a simple way to share PDF save presets.  Ideally, some kind of package I can email to both Mac and PC users for use in both Acrobat Pro XI and Illustrator CS6.  Would likely be used mostly in saving .ai to PDFs in Illustrator.
Manually describing save settings through email always leads to user-inaccuracy.  Would be great if there was a file type that, when opened, just plugs itself into relevant programs with PDF export or save options.
Would really appreciate some help on this!

I made a custom PDF preset called HQS_150ppi. It's been saved into the path I wrote about. Note the .joboptions extension:
In InDesign CS6, it's shown in the Export > Adobe PDF (Print) dialog box or File > Adobe PDF Presets. In Illustrator CS6, it's shown in Save As > Adobe PDF (pdf) dialog box or Edit > Adobe PDF Presets:

  • Illustrator closing/disapearing randomly during explorer save/export/open

    Hi everyone,
This is a weird one, recently ive been having an issue with illustrator randomly closing with no notice and for no obvious reason.
    In short ive found it happens when the pop up window to save/export/open has been initiated or while I'm navigating through folders. Just incase which screen i mean is un clear, its this one in the picture;
so as this window is opened everything dissapears, including the save window, no crash report, no sign of a program not responding......just nothing.
look forward to hearing form anyone who has had this problem, losing work and it sucks!

Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details. And well, setting thumbnail size in Explorer  to "humungously large" certainly doesn't help matters.

  • Wish to post KeyNote file as pdf. Export from KN to iW not working

Wish to post KeyNote file as pdf. Export from KN to iW not working - get blank screen. Tried to upload PDF to mobile me and link to that file - also didn't work. I'm not familiar with iFrames but have read about them in this forum - is that my only option? Why wouldn't a KN export work?
    Thanks, Brian

I have just tried this with a test site and publishing to a folder and it does work perfectly for me.
I had a Keynote document already so all I did was click on File and then selected the Print option. I then selected the save as pdf option the the pdf document was created on my desktop instantly.
All I then did was open iWeb and type some words in a text box My Prices. I then highlighted My Prices and opened the Inspector and went to Hyperlink and clicked on the option Hyperlink to a file. I then selected the pdf file from my desktop.
I then used ftp to a folder on my desktop and when I opened the appropriate page, I click on the words My Prices and the pdf file opened straight away.
As OT has suggested, check that you have linked to the correct file. If it does not work, either you have not created the pdf correctly or at all or you have not linked to the correct file.
As I said, it worked for me.

  • PDF/A export ID CS6

    Hello
I try to export a PDF/A document from InDesign CS6, but it doesn't work. Converting fails also. Is there no way to export PDF/A documents directly from InDesign? I use Mac OS X 10.8.2.
    Thanks for help

Just save/export the PDF as a standard PDF, no standards complaince.
Open the PDF up in Acrobat XI (which you have as part of CS6) and then File->Save As->PDF/A.
    No muss, no fuss.

    Hi,
This is the code which is used for ReportViewer 2008 and i need code for ReportViewer 2010. I don't want to change in the reportserver's RSReportSErver.Config
file because same report server we are using for different projects where in some projects we require pdf and some we do not. Below is the code for reportviwer 2008 where the export button is rendered as a dropdown and in reportviwer 2010, Export button is
