JVM (JSEE 1.4.2) Installation/Running

I am having real problems with JVM. I am running Win XP Pro SP1.
After installing the JVM either via the Web or as an Offline installation and then visiting a site with Java Applets I get the following message: Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded from <\bin\hotspot\jvm.dll>
I've checked my Path variable and it points to the installation. However, when I go to the installation directory then \bin\hotspot\ does not exist. I realise this is probably the problem. However, if I install a previous version of JVM then all is a-okay.
I don't mid installing a previous version, but would rather have the latest one so that I can teach myself Java.
Can I create the directory and just copy across the jvm.dll file? If so, which do I use since I have two:
[javare]\bin\client\jvm.dll (1181KB)
[javare]\bin\server\jvm.dll (2653KB)
Please help, this is driving me mad!

Older JREs used 'classic' and 'hotspot' as the directory names; newer versions use 'client' and 'server'. Sounds like you have some kind of configuration issue due to multiple JREs being installed and/or environment variables pointing to the wrong things. I'd suggest completely removing all installed JDKs/JREs and undoing any environment configurations; then go back and only install the latest version that you want to use.

Since you seem to be using a new disk for Lion, Time Machine will consider previous backups to be for a "different" computer. Try doing a control-click or click-and-hold on the Time Machine icon in the Dock, then choose "Browse Other Time Machine Disks". This should allow Time Machine to see the previous backups.
In the worst case you should be able to open those Time Machine backups and copy your documents from there to your home folder.
By the way, you've been misled by poor field labeling on this forum into typing a large part of your message into the field intended for the subject. In the future just type a short summary of your post into that field and type the whole message into the field below that.

Post-Install Issue - Windows Installer runs every time CRW XI R2 loads

I have XP SP3. If I uninstall CR XI SP2 and re-install CR XI from cd, it loads perfectly - no windows installer. When I uninstall CR XI, and re-install CR XI SP2 from the saved download on my harddrive, the Windows installer runs every time I load it; it seems to think it's never been run before. Takes 3-8 minutes to load every time, which is completely annoying.
I have also tried downloading that full build of XI SP2 3 times - and uninstalling/reinstalling. Makes no difference.
I know this is not a design issue, but I didn't know where else to turn. I have been tolerating this issue for about 18 months and I can't take it any more!

N96: Installer runs when phone is switched on and ...

When my phone is swtiched on the application installer runs. I presume this is normal. The problem is that the process doesn't finish and it is left in memory. After the phone is fully booted, I show the open applications and the installer is still there. Is there anyway to investigate what is causing this?

Did you install something recently, or tried to install something ?
Do you have an external MMC in your phone as well ? If yes -> remove it, and see if the problem still occurs. If it doesn't -> try formatting the MMC.
If you don't have an external MMC, try to format your phone (after backup of your vital data)

Office 2007 installer run everytime i open excel only

Ok, I need some help on this one. I have office 2007 pro installed on a
terminal server for a couple of years now with no problems. The other day one
of the users called and says that the installer program open every time they
open excel. I logged in and sure enough it runs. When I open word, pp or
outlook, the installer does not run. When I look at the event log I get two
event errors, an event id 1001 and 1004. Below is the one I think that might be
causing the problem.

I think that i have finally solved this issue after talking with another tech friend of mine. When I look at the event look it says this everytime I open excel
'C:\ProgramFiles\Microsoft Office\Office12\XLSTART\' does not exist. When I drill down in the "C" drive, sure enought there is no XLSTART file or folder. After I let the install configuration run, it adds this
a folder called XLSTART and after I close excel and log out the folder dissappears. So, I let the install configuration run again and rename the XLSTART folder to XLSTART_OLD. I log out and then log back in. When I open excel the install
configuration runs again, but after I log out and then back it, the install configuration does not run anymore. I think that the XLSTART folder was corrupt and it just needed to install a new one. So far my theory has proved correct, because I
have logged in and out of the Terminal Server and opened excel a dozen or so times yesterday and it open with no problems. I just tried to open excel again about two minutes ago, and it is still working fine. I hope that anyone who is having
a similar issue can use this information

Published GPO login script Office installer runs every time launched

I was working on a test environment with my own machine to deploy OCT Office 2010 ProPlus config.
It is now launching an installer every time I open any office product. It then says "fatal error during installation". I cannot uninstall it, it doesnt even popup the office uninstaller window. Change also does not work. I also
cannot reinstall with a clean setup copy disc.
I have tried:

Seems that you deploy Office through OCT but meet the unhappy thing during the installaion.
Tried the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (MSICUU2.exe) and modify the one of registry key but the Office still stay there but failed to be removed.
At this point, I recommand that we perform the steps in following link and remove Office 2010 suite compeletely.

Solaris 8 x86 installation runs out of space

I am installing Solaris 8 x86 on to a Dell PowerEdge Server with a 9.1 SCSI drive. Utilizing the Solaris installation process and choosing "Entire Solaris Software Group" the process completes successfully. When signed on as root and installing software from the "bonus software bundle" I simply run out of room. When reviewing the disk manager it shows that "/" is at 88% and "/usr" is at 0%. What am I doing wrong? What is the proper way to load ancillary software and to get it to load into the "/usr" and not the "/" partition?

Suggest you can choose custom install option, where by you can define each partion size as you wish. You may create /opt as seperate partion where you can load all your required s/w.
Or Increase size of root partion so as to accomodate /opt.

Elements 12 Installation/Run Problem

The problem started when my Elements 10 would not open having been running sucessfully for months on my Windows 8 PC. It returned an error message which I think said there were files missing and I should reinstall. I tried reinstalling many times without success. After investigation I have used the creative cloud cleaning tool and created a new user account all without success. I decided despite having genuine Elements 10 discs I would download version 12 and do a clean install. I deleted all Adobe applications, ran AVG tune up 2013, ran creative cloud cleaning tool answering ALL to selections, rebooted the PC, ran AVG tune up again, and then Installed Elements 12. All appeared to be well. the cleaner log completed successfully and the Elements12 Organiser log and PS12 Setup and Install logs all say completed successfully. When I ran Elements 12 the first time the license agreement was displayed and then the welcome screen. Selecting either Organiser of Editior attempts to load, the bar appears for about 10 seconds but neither the Organiser or editor launch. I have copies of the logs and scren captures of the various stages if that would help. Unfortunately as you will be aware, I can't contact product support as I don't have a licensed copy of the current version and I can't purchase the current version because it won't install/run. Any help would be much appreciated.

Creating a shortcut to the Edit .exe file works. I have added it to the desk top and it opens the editor and all seems to work. I discovered this as a result of opening a photo file with right click, open as, and then working through the structure to the Edit .exe file. I have done the same with Organiser which also works to some extent but displays errors - "required components were not completely installed. Please reinstall application" clicking OK partially opens the organiser with another error message - "online services could not be initialised. Please reinstall. Click OK to continue without online services" OK opens the organiser.
With this partial success I tried again to reinstall Elements 10 but again without success and error messages.
If this was the first time all this had happend I would reinstall but I have already tried Elements 10 many times and Elements 12 twice so I don't think there is much point trying again without making some other changes. Help still required please.

I did uninstall PSE10 and all other Adobe applications before using the cleanup tool.
As you suggested I have again uninstalled PSE12 and other Adobe applications. However on checking the Program Files (x86)\Adobe folder I found an Elements 10 Organiser folder and PE10 folder containing a third party plug in so I deinstalled that and deleted the folders. I then ran the cleaner tool which completed successfully but included a warniong "DB does not exist at ......\caps\Media_db.db. I rebotted the PC and then ran AVG tuneup maintenance and fixed 305 registry problems. I installed PSE10 from disc which finnished successfully with a re boot message. After rebooting I clicked on the PSE10 icon which returned an errorI located PSE Editor.exe and clicked to get a config error OK returned another message although the install log indicated a successful install. I ran AVG again and it indicated a host of registry problems I then repeated the uninstall cleaning rebooting process and installed PSE12 trial from a saved download. It indicated a successful install but clicking on the icon did nothing. I ran AVG again and it returned 7 registry errors I navigated to the PSE12.exe file clicked and the editor opened. I then navigated to the Organiser .exe file and received OK returned OK opened the Organiser but without the online services.
I have copies of all the logs if they would help.
Although I can work with this imperfect installation of PS12 I really would like to be able to use PS10 that I already own.

Oracle installation running root.sh

Hi Gurus,
Please help, I have installed ORACLE 10.2.0.1 and its patch 10.2.0.4 on AIX 6.1 environment. My Issue was after executing root.sh i entered a wrong path in local bin directory instead of /usr/local/bin i entered /usr/bin. The SAP system now is running okay but since i entered a different path I'm afraid that one day it would be unstable or crush. Please shed some light on my installation.
1. Is it okay to leave it as is?
2. Is it okay to run another root.sh?
3. Do i have to reinstall everything (SAP/Oracle)?

Hi,
not a real problem.
Just run root.sh again to be comfortable.
Watch the output. It will create 3 scripts in /usr/local/bin, which are normally not used in SAP environment.
So these are not so very important.
Check for those scripts in the first location you provided false and may be delete the scripts there.
Surely no need to re-install everything !

I have noticed, on computers where I have installed MAX (which installs NI-DAQ) that the Run-Time engine also appears.
Does MAX install the Run-Time? Or was it MAX that installed? Or was it probably already there....?

That would make perfect sense. It'd be "nice" if the CD eluded to that fact, so you don't have to bother with finding the RTE if it's already there.

LV 8.5.1 Installer "run after installation" not executed in silent mode ; Autoupdate

Hi all,
I developed a software used "inhouse" by most of my colleagues. This software is changed continuously.
In the past I had to inform everyone that there's a new release available.
Thus I developed a "quick and dirty" autoupdate mechanism. (See attachments)
The application looks for a file located on our server, which contains the version number of the most current release.
If the version number of the installed software and the version number in this file differ, the Installer for the new release is executed.
In the Installer settings I run the installed software after installation finished.
So that the user doesn't notice there was an update and the software starts as allways.
The installer is started with commandline options to install in silent mode with surpressed License Notification und supressed restart.
The start of the installed software after installation works if I start setup.exe in "normal" manner (doubleclick setup.exe)
BUT the software DOES NOT start after installation when installed in silent mode. (Commandline prompt: setup.exe /q /AcceptLicenses yes /r:n )
(Tested with XP, Vista, 7)
Does anyone know how to get this working ?

Well, just checked - it seems to be works as expected in LabVIEW 2010 and doesn't work with 8.5.1 as you have described.
There are some bugs in installer's builder was fixed between versions 8.5 and 10.0.
What you can do - upgrade to latest LabVIEW version or try to fix installer manually. I guess trouble present in \bin\dp\install.msi file. You can check what inside of msi with Orcas utility provided by Microsoft.

I fixed this by following the below approach:
With the Turnkey option, there is an exe file "JBossService.exe". I executed the above file from "InstallJBossService.bat". I modified the batch file to point to the jboss folder to my installation.
With this I was able to get the JBoss as a service. The only thing I didnt understand is the batch file has a parameter "-shutdown 180", does this parameter specify anything about shutting down Jboss instance after a specified time.
Anybody please confirm on this.
