Forms/Reports created using Oracle9iDS on Windows 2K deployed on Oracle9iAS on Linux

I have got recently three Oracle Products namely, Oracle 9i Database, Oracle 9i Application Server (9iAS) and Oracle Internet Developer Suite (iDS). The Oracle 9i Database and Oracle 9iAS are installed on the RedHat Linux 7.3 Advanced Server. The Internet Developer Suite is for the MS Windows 98/2000 platform.
My question is whether my application developed using Forms 6i and Reports 6i available with Internet Developer Suite, on the MS Windows 98/2000 platform can be deployed on the Oracle 9iAS on Linux. If yes, what are the issues involved in this? If not, do I need to re-develop my application using iDS on Linux?
I would be grateful to get an early answer to my questions.

Hi,
Try open your fmb files on Linux 9iDS, if everything ok. Compile your form and try to run it.
I didn't check it myself, but I migrate forms from 4.5 forms to 6i forms without problems.
From Windows to Linux and back no problem, but you must remember to compile all forms for
target operating system (Linux or Windows).
Hope it helps,
Roman.

You said, "...+I would like to install Release 2(11.1.1.2.0)+ ...". Be careful. 11.1.1.2.0 is not Release 2. The version for Rel 2 is 11.1.2.0, notice that there is one less "1". Also, there is no way to patch from Release 1 to Release 2.
In EDelivery, this is what you should find if you search on "Oracle Fusion Middleware" for "Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)":
First look for this link then drill into it:
Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Media Pack for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)
In this section you will find the following:
This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 2 (Forms & Reports)
    Oracle Forms and Reports 11g R2 (11.1.2.0.0) for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) V28761-01
This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 1 (includes Portal, Forms, Reports, and Disco)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 1 of 4) V18785-01
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 2 of 4)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 3 of 4)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 4 of 4)
This is the FMw 11 Release 1 patch set that will bring the above 11.1.1.2.0 installation to 11.1.1.6.  This is NOT a full product installation - just a patch
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g Patch Set 5 (11.1.1.6.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) V29850-01
There are no patch sets for Release 2 as of yet.

Your solution lies in the File.separator constant; this constant will contain the path separator that is used by the operating system. No need to hardcode one, Java already has it.
edit: when it comes to paths by the way, I have the bad habit of always using the front slash ( / ). This will also work under Windows and has the added benefit of not needing to be escaped.

  • Adobe Reader error with PDF reports created using AS Reports Server 10g

    Hi,
Recently when trying to run reports in our system (which uses Oracle Application Server Forms & Reports Services 10g - 10.1.2.0.2), sometimes when we try to run a report in PDF format the following happens:
    1. A new window appears as expected
    2. This window hangs/appears to try to load for a couple of minutes
    3. Eventually an Adobe Reader error message appears saying the following:
*"There is a problem With Adobe Acrobat/Reader. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again".*
I have noticed that this problem only seems to occur when the client has Adobe Reader 9.3 installed (8.2 works fine).
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a known workaround or is this a known issue?
    Many thanks,
    Chris

Does anyone have any ideas on this or has anyone encountered the same problem?
    thanks

  • FORMS/REPORTS 6i using OCSM??

    To Moderator,
This Question is to Moderator, but all are welcome to answer.
Where from we can get OCSM to install Forms/Report 6i on our Lan?
Is OCSM still support with Forms/Reports 6i.
Can we get any help on how to use OCSM for
    Forms/Reports 6i?
We have got Oracle@Tools CD Pack v8 for Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT as part of our move to Release 11i.
We are current planning to install Oracle Forms and Reports Release 6i for our development on Windows95(0S) using OCSM.
After looking to into CD's for Oracle Forms and Reports in CD pack we could not find OCSM included.
Also we are using 16 bit Forms4.5 and Report2.5 , which was install using OCSM version 3.1.4.1.
What will be implications if we using Forms/Reports 6i with new version of OCSM?
    Are there any known problem??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How do i filter on the report that is created by using DIRECT DATABASE ACCESS in obiee 10g?
I have reprot A with link to report B, report B is created using DIRECT DATABASE ACCESS. so it is just a table, but i need to filter out 2 columns.
here is the query in REPORT B:
    select strm, acad_group, crse_id, class_section, count(emplid) from v_crse_enrl
    group by crse_id, strm, class_section, acad_group;
    the link in REPORT A:

from this link to report B.
    thank you!!

I didnt tested using url, but the same works with using presentation variables.
To your direct sql add where clause for those two columns like WHERE col='@{col1}' and col ='@{col2}'
and try to run from url.

    Hi All,
I'm trying to create T.code for a report painter program created using CJE5.
I using the D_SREPOVARI-REPORTTYPE as "RE" and
    D_SREPOVARI-EXTDREPORT as KP 01RPSCO_X <report name>
If I provide spaces between KP 01RPSCO_X <report name>, its not allowing spaces.
If I didn't provide the space then its saying that "report does not exists"
Please let me know how to overcome this issue?.
What this KP  & 01RPSCO_X stands for? Is this always constant?
There is a similar kind of transaction in other system which Looks like this " KP 01RPSCO_X <report name>" spaces in between
I dont understand why its not allowing spaces in this system. As its in different system i cant make a copy of this transaction and change the parameters.

the form fields previously used into the new version without having to go through the whole creating form fields process again? The option for Replace Page
s is greyed out so I can't use it like I can with other pdf's.

Normally you would replace the old pages with the new and any fields would not be affected. The fact that it's greyed out could be due to security setting or if the form has been distributed or otherwise Reader-enabled. You should always save a copy of the form before you apply security or distribute (or Reader-enable) the document so you can make changes like this.

  • Execution method of report created using Web Intelligence

    Hi everyone,
Could anyone please let me know of the way data in a report created as web intelligence document is refreshed? Is it real-time data each time the report is executed or do I have to explicitly hit the "Refresh" button in order to get latest data?
In case data is cached and renewed only when "Refresh" is clicked, which execution of the report is taken for the cache - let's say in case 100 users access the same report.
    Thanks,
    Maria

You don't have to refresh every time there is new data, it is real-time. It should automatically refreshed.
if your universe is created on the BI query, in BI there is caching you can enable in rsrt and that will take care of it. I am not sure if there is any caching mechanism in Webi.
    thanks.

  • Can a tabular form be created/used against a GLOBAL TEMP TABLE?

We are trying to simplify our apex applications. In doing so, we are examing the many collections we use to create tablular forms. These collections currently are tricky to manage and we are considering moving them to either VIEWS or GLOBAL TEMPORARY TABLES (GTT).
I have created a test app against a GLOBAL TEMP TABLE....it looks great, but when I add a row and SUBMIT I recieve a message indicating record is inserted....but where did it go? I am unable to retrieve...I cannot see it in the underlying GLOBAL TEMP TABLE (as expected)....
should I be creating an ON INSERT table on the GTT to automatically insert the data into a regular table?

Now you know why you have to use collections :) Answered here:
working with global temp table and apex
Has to do with the session management and how APEX handles it.
Create a view on your collection using the column names from the source table. Use packages to write an update, delete and insert process. This can be written automatically if there are multiple collections to handle.

  • Need help in formatting the report created using SSRS

I have created an image and used it as the body background. But I want that image to come at right
    Set bodyRepeat as RepeatY.
Currently its showing as below              I need this blue image at the right most side of the report as below
Also I need to display text on the image.
    Need Help!!!
    Abhinav

    Hi AbhinavSultania,
According to your description, you created a report and added background image to it, you want to display the image at right side of the report and display text on the image.
According to my knowledge, we could not control position of background image, as a workaround, we can refer to the following steps:
Create an image with the blue line at right side of it using Paint.
Right-click body of the report to open Body Properties dialog box, then import the image as background image.
Drag text box from Toolbox to the blue line of the image. Right-click inside of the text box and click Expression, we can use expression to show dynamic contents at runtime.
The following screenshot is for your reference:
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.
