Forward a copy of incoming mail

Hi
Have just recently changed ISPs to BT BB, so please excuse my ignorance.
Can anyone tell me if I can have a copy of my emails fowarded from secondary accounts into one account?  I have looked all over the BT Yahoo! help boards, but can't find out to do it.  I found this very useful with my last ISP, Sky.com, and hope I can do it here, but just can't find out where.
Many thanks.

Hi toekneem
Thanks for your reply.  I have set my Sky emails to be forwarded to my BT account, but I was able to forward my other email accounts on Sky, to one email account.  Basically, what I am looking for, is to be able to forward all my BT Yahoo! email accounts to one account, not my primary account.  I found this feature useful, which meant I didn't have to keep checking my other accounts. m The accounts I would like to get forwarded are named from websites that I caretake for, but the traffic is not very high.
Regards.
Ken
Hi Ken. Welcome to the forums.
You can set forwarding individually on sub accounts (or the primary account) by logging into each email via webmail (e.g. use http://mail.yahoo.com and entering the full email address as the Yahoo! ID).
Then go to Options/Mail (or More) Options/Pop & Forwarding
From there you can set up your requirements, note that you will need to confirm the setting.

    Hi Gary,
I have seen this issue occur with users who have this registry setting missing or have improper permissions.
When you double click the attachment to launch the pdf it is saved and opened from the temporary folder unless saved specifically to a location.
If you dont have the below mentioned registry key or improper permissions then attachments fail to open.
Please  heck if the following reg key exists:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
    or
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
    Value Name: OutlookSecureTempFolder
If the value exists, and if the value contains a valid path, Outlook 2010 uses that location for its temporary files.
If the registry value does not exist, or if the value points to an invalid location, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2003 creates a new subdirectory under the Temporary Internet Files directory and then puts the temporary file in the new subdirectory. The name of the new subdirectory is unknown and is randomly generated, depending on your version of Outlook.
    Please check the following key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
Note the location for: OutlookSecureTempFolder key
Check if the same folder exists in the following location and if not create a corresponding folder in the location on C:\Users\<User account name>\Appdata\Local\Software\Microsoft\Windows\......

  • Copy all incoming and outgoing mail to an additional mailbox

Is there a means to copy all incoming and outgoing email through the Apple Mail server to one inbox? As an example, Bob sends and email to Jeff and receives a reply. I want a copy of each of those emails to, say, [email protected] Is there a means within the server config or some other method to accomplish this?

Help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

  • Send copy of incoming email to

Does anyone know how to configure the mail server to Send copy of incoming email to a specified email. Thank you!
e.g. I got 3 colleagues in support team and their email addresses are [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected] Any email send to their addresses will be sent a copy to [email protected]
    Thank you!

You need to set up a forwarder in the postfix system used by OS X Server to handle mail.
It is quite straightforward to set this up if you are familiar with using command line / terminal to configure your machine.  If you are not sure about this mode of using OS X Server, you may need to find an alternative method.
Assuming you logged into the server as an Administrator, the way to do it is as follows:
    1) On your server, open a terminal window and switch into 'super user' mode by typing su at the prompt.  You will be asked to give the password for your account, and if successful you'll see the command prompt change (from something ending in a $ sign to something else ending in a # sign)
    2) Open the file virtual_users in the directory /Library/Server/Mail/Config/postfix for editing.  I use nano - but you can use whatever editor you prefer for this - e.g.
    nano /Library/Server/Mail/Config/postfix/virtual_users
    3) In this file (which is probably blank / empty when you start) type in the following information for each of your users that you are trying to forward mail from (obviously you'll need to correct the email addresses first!)
[email protected]    [email protected]    [email protected]
[email protected]     [email protected]    [email protected]
[email protected]   [email protected]    [email protected]
    4) Now you need to process the file to put it in a form that postfix can read, do so by typing in the following
    postmap /Library/Server/Mail/Config/postfix/virtual_users
    5) Now you need to restart postfix so that it uses your new settings
    postfix reload
    6) Now just type exit into the terminal to leave SU mode and you are done.  Test your email addresses, but it should "just work".
The clever bit is the postfix virtual_users file.
In that file, you put the email address you want to play with first on the line, and then you can put as many other email addresses after it (with spaces between): postfix will forward messages sent to the first address to each of the addresses in the list.
Most normally this system is used to set up 'forwarding' systems - so if you want one email to go to another this is what you do.  But if you want to do this and keep a copy, simply repeat the original email (i.e. the one at the start of the line) in the list that follows, and a copy goes to that one too.  Postfix is clever enough to not get into a tail-spin - it doesn't loop back and send a copy of the copy or anything.
    Hope this helps.

  • Some incoming mails are totally unreadable after installing 10.6

Some, about 20%, of incoming mails are totally unreadable gibberish after I installed Snow Leopard on my Desktop MacPro. The same mail reads fine on my MacBook Pro (also now running 10.6). An example of such a weird mail is here:
    ha sa S 7 s i ssho sb s s as s osg s h s skowassi wo sMag ssi s Ma s
Oiga sM ssag ... and so on and on.
If I copy the unreadable message and paste it into TextEdit it converts to other unreadable characters and numbers. If copied into a MS Word doc it appears as perfectly readable text.
    Has anybody seen something similar?

OK, I think I have found a workaround for the problem. It is indeed a font issue... (thank you, William Lloyd, to point me in that direction!)
If you get an unreadable message switch to "Reply" or "Forward" and you will be able to read the message (make sure your own mailbox font or message font - set under Preferences>Fonts - is anything except Courier or Chicago) and you will be able to read your mail. Select the message text and go to Format>Go Fonts and switch to several other fonts. As far as I can see all fonts work OK except Courier and Chicago. Obviously Courier is a popular mail font, so all mails written with it arrive garbled. If I use Courier or Chicago as my Message List font in the preference settings, all mail windows become unreadable!
When I write a text in "TextEdit" and switch to Courier or Chicago - it will become unreadable. Possibly this happens in other applications as well...
However - this only occurs on my desktop PowerMac, not on my MacBook, which makes this glitch especially puzzling. I have not yet tried to re-insall OS 10.6.

  • Syncronization: How can i store mail for different accounts remotely, and copy most important mails manually to local folders on two devices?

Hello. I have two devices and two accounts, so what i want is this:
I only want to store mail from both accounts in a remote place and copy most important mails to local folders.
(I will be grateful for any ideas as to where/how this "cloud" can be - specially free places)
    * Can I have a copy of these local folders in both devices and the remote storage?
    * Could i synchronize devices so that: when i move a mail to a local folder in any device, its copied to the same folders in
the other device and the remote storage place?
    * The remote storage place will have many other folders. When I open Thunderbird, I also want to see these and the mail
inside, and also be able to move mail from the inbox to these folders.
    * One of the accounts is gmail. In Account Setting tool, there is an option for synchronization. If there is no easier way, I can have mail for other account copied to gmail, and just syncronize gmail mail. For this, how will I copy my present folder structure to gmail. And how can I syncronize the local folders on the two devices?
    Thanks in advance.

The first awkwardness I see is that there's no obvious format in which to store messages remotely such that you can work with them in an email client. It may be possible to set the "Local Directory" option in the account in Thunderbird to point at some remote folder (DropBox comes to mind) but I have never tried this and I'd be nervous about what happens if connection can't be made, or if you happened to access it from two different places simultaneously. The other concern is that mail stores get big, quickly, and you'd be forever uploading and downloading large (multi gigabyte) files. Thunderbird stores what looks like a folder containing many separate messages as one big file, so there's no simple opportunity for incremental changes to be up/down loaded.
The whole idea of Local Folders in Thunderbird is to detach messages from servers, so they don't track what happens on servers. I say this to point out the distinction between files stored locally and permanently ("Local Folders"), versus cached copies of online files ("synchronized"). It's not safe to regard your synchronized folders as permanent.
So, synchronized folders on an IMAP server are "mirrored" in Thunderbird so you do have a local (albeit temporary and transient) copy of messages; this is done mainly to avoid repeatedly downloading messages if you re-read them, and it makes searching faster an more efficient. But these "synchronized" message track what's being done on the server, and so if they are deleted anywhere, all synchronized devices will at some point also see the deleted messages vanishing. (Unless you made a local copy in the Local Folders account.)
I use a gmail account pretty much as you have described; I copy or move messages to that account so they are visible in my phone, my tablet, my own laptop and my works computer. It's free, and it's "in the cloud"; the only reservation I have is its privacy. There are other providers (e.g. 1&1/gmx) who don't seem to have the data collection fetish that google thrives on.
It's fairly simple to create filters in Thunderbird to automatically copy messages to your "cloud account"; even better is to set up forwarding rules on the other accounts' servers, so your messages are automatically sent on and waiting for you when you next login, already in the cloud account.

    Sorry for the delay...
I did what you've told me, new account and manually copied my files from Time Machine. I had lots of permissions problems, but at the end, almost everything is in order... It seems it had to be with some of the Apple Preferences, but I can't be sure, as most of them were dumped to the trash can.
I still don't have my Mail Rules back, unfortunately, although I did goggled some. It is a pity, as I had around 30 or 40 of them, getting my mail in order to each of its mailboxes, but it is a small price as the rest doesn't show the before syntoms.
    Thanks for the help, anyway!!

  • How can I reply to e-mails forwarded to my main e-mail address?

    Hoping somebody can help.
I've been assigned an e-mail by an organisation I do voluntary work for occasionally ([email protected]) which is set up so that any e-mail sent to that address forwards to my main MobileMe e-mail address. I would like to be to reply to any e-mails received so that the 'from' field shows this same e-mail address.
I've tried to add it as a new account in Mail, however Mail tells me that I can't leave the 'incoming mail server' blank (which I obviously don't need) and so this isn't possible. As a workaround I tried writing 'nomail' here which at least enabled me to set up the account, however the downside is that Mail is now constantly reporting that there's a problem with this account (permanent warning triangle next to my In box) which is irritating.
So my question is, is there a neater way to answer this kind of forwarded e-mail account? I know these kind of accounts are quite common so Apple must have considered this!
    Many thanks
    Charles

The answer is more or less what you seem to have done, with a couple of added refinements. Set up a new account in Mail; give the Email address as that of the address in question. Enter any old garbage in Incoming Mail Server, User Name and Password, and set Outgoing Mail Server to use your ISPs server - this seems to be qhat you have done and is working - I assume you can send OK?
Now click on the 'Advanced' tab. Check 'Enable this account' (should be done already); Uncheck 'Include when automatically checking for new mail'. This will stop the error messages unless you manually get mail from all accounts.
Now in Mail Prefs click on 'Composing' in the toolbar. Set 'Send new messages from' to 'Account of selected mailbox'. This should recognize messages which have been forwarded from the other account and automatically set the 'From' address to the correct one (you can also do this manually from the menu in the header bar of the new/reply message pane).

  • What host name do I use for Hotmail incoming mail server?

What host name do I use for Hotmail incoming mail server?

Access the homescreen and tap "Settings."
Go to "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars" and tap "Add Account." Your iPhone should display a list of email service providers. Even though you are setting up a Hotmail account, you will be doing it first through Gmail on your iPhone. Tap the Gmail icon to create a new account. Enter your name and a user name and password for the new Hotmail account you will be making later. Enter "imap.gmail.com" in the "HostName" column. Press the "Save" button at the upper right corner of the screen.
Enter your name, email address, password, and the description of the account. Next, click "Save." You should now be able to check your email from the homescreen.
Enter "smtp.gmail.com" in the "Outgoing Mail Server." Enter the password for this Gmail account in the "Password" column. Enter user name for this Gmail account in the "UserName" column. Press the "Save" button at the upper right corner of the screen. Press the "Home" button to return to the iPhone's home screen.
Use the Web browser to go to Hotmail.com and create a new account. Use the user name and password for the account that you entered into the Gmail account on the iPhone earlier. Click on “Settings” after the account has been created.
Click on the "Settings" tab. Click on the "Forwarding" tab. Click on the "Pop/IMAP" tab and select "Enable IMAP." Click on the "Save” button. Click on “Settings” and select “Accounts” and then “Add Another Email Address” from the webpage. Enter the name of your existing Hotmail account in the column. Press “Save.”
Go to the inbox. Open the message from Gmail and click on the link in the message box. Select the “Options” tab and check the “Forwarding email” box.
Send yourself a message to your Hotmail account from an email client. Click on the icon of the Mail program at the bottom of the iPhone’s screen. The email you sent to Hotmail will appear in the inbox of the Gmail account in the iPhone's email.

  • Duplicate incoming mail messages

    Thank you,
    Steve G.

First, is her Mail configured to remove messages from the server right away, or leave them on for some duration? (Preferences/Accounts/(choose account)/Advanced/Remove copy from server after retrieving message)
Did the 3 copies come in at the same time, or over the course of some time when Mail automatically checked for new mail? Can you use webmail to view what the server shows (could it have 3 copies?)

  • Incoming mail auto marked as already read.

Just upgraded to IO6. My email Inbox appears to mark incoming mail as Already Read and so I don't receive notification alerts for new emails. Any ideas?

This can be quite easily fixed if the iphone has a toggle to leave a copy of the email on the server. This will allow you to download the email from
another program like Outlook etc and you wont need mapi. Outlook 2003 has this toggle option under advanced settings.
The issue with this is the email on the server never gets "read" so occasionally you need to go directly onto your mail server and clear out the mail.
Please join me in requesting this as an enhancement request.
    Rgds Steve.

  • Don't want incoming mail

I have mail coming from a server without POP. I have it auto forwarding to another account that does have POP and I get it into Mail through that account. BUT, when I reply, I want it's FROM address to be the original account. Thus, I need to create an account in Mail with the original email address. However, since I'm already getting the email from the 2nd account I don't want to set up any incoming server info on the 1st account. Mail won't let me leave it blank. And if I fill in anything, it continually gives me errors since there's no POP account to log into. Does anyone have an idea on how to set up an account to be used ONLY for outgoing mail?

    {quote}
I really want an autofill, where when I hit REPLY, the FROM address gets filled in automatically with the original address.
Yep, I figured that out by interpreting your original question. The question really had nothing to do with incoming mail or a desire to not get it. The method you tried to use to control your return address is not the most common used. Some programs allow you to specify a reply-to address but I don't think Apple Mail has ever done so.
In the meantime, you can always voice your opinion or ask for a new feature by communicating with Apple directly:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
I looked around a bit, but don't see any hacks for Mail 3 that will work.

  • Not receiving incoming mail

I have a google apps account, where google is the mail server for my domain. I get email at my domain name through gmail.
I set up my iphone to sync with this account, and my incoming and outgoing mail settings are the same setting as on my home computer. My iPhone is not receiving any incoming mail but i am able to mail out. How do i fix this?

i understood where u were going with that question. i just logged onto my google apps account and changed my settings to "keep a copy in my inbox" is that what i should do? i then sent a test email from my home computer to my email address... and got it on my iPhone

  • Mac E-Mail Not Receiving Incoming Mail From ATT/Yahoo Mail Server

Recently "upgraded" to ATT U-verse. My Mac email client (3.6) suddenly not receiving incoming mail from the web-based ATT/Yahoo. Settings-all are correct: Telephone talk with Tier 1 and Tier 2 ATT reps confirmed "unusual" problem, and that the settings (ports, ssl, etc.) are indeed all correct. Tier 2 supervisor referred ticket (F23576784) to the brilliant minds at Yahoo for help. I've heard nothing for five days. Some emails do get received on my client, from (Apple, ATT, for example). Others languish on the web-based mail, with no push to my iMac. Tests of sending myself e-mails continue to confirm problem, with test emails sitting at Yahoo server, no push to my Mac client.
I am able to send e-mails successfully from client. Interestingly, a couple of incoming e-mails from friends did manage to slip through the lines and arrive in my Mac client a couple of days late. Brave little souls, they're not talking.
I've tried all sockets, all other settings possible, but no luck. Why is there no straight-forward answer to this proliferating problem? Odd e-mail behaviors? No documented or shared answers by the big outfits to Mac users? Mac mail virtually disabled and useless? Has anyone found a path to resolving the varied but similar problems in this area yet? Thanks in advance for any help offered beyond adjusting preferences over and over and over. That ain't working.
    Stuiee

Geez, some emails are getting through, most are not forwarded to my client MacMail. They are also marked as read, which could mean that Yahoo is forwarding them somewhere...(?) Can't get ahold of Yahoo, ATT forwards me to Yahoo, Yahoo has no method of emailing real, technical questions, ATT supervisor actually called Apple and there is nothing wrong with the OS or my set up requirements.
Does anyone know a workaround for setting up smtp requirements? Can't switch email clients at this time, would take a lot of changing existing contact info for bizz.
At this point all I would like to know is, where is the problem? Why does a server (ATT/Yahoo) send some mail to my account, not send others, and marks all messages on the webmail as read? Thanks for the one response, I do believe the problem is some minor error set at the isp's server software for Macs, but who knows?

  • After I installed ios 5, the alert noise for incoming mail played in my ear while I was on the phone!

I think this is really annoying! While I was on the phone, the tone I chose to alert me to incoming mail, played in my ear while I was on the phone! I couldn't hear what the other person was saying. Also, I have alerts on my calendar and they are not on the reminders app which I think they should be. It is double work to enter in both places, it should just copy from the calendar to the reminders app. What a waste!

It happened to me too. I've read in other posts that the only way to block this is to switch to silent mode when receiving a call, somewhat annoying and frustrating....
