Forward engineer entity names to table names

In my logical models I have entity names like "Operational Area". When I forward engineer these to physical tables is there a way to get SDDM to put an underscore between the words? In the preference-> Data Modeler -> Naming Standards setting I have specified "space" as the seperator for logical models and "_" for Relational.
The same thing happens with attribute conversion to column names: no underscores.

Hi Kent,
you need to select "Apply name translation" in engineering dialog - "general options" tab.

  • Fwd engineering entity name changes to relational model?

I changed an entity name in my logical model after generating a relational model. But, I cannot figure out how to have SDDM (3.0.0.665) propagate this change to the relational model.
In the Engineer To Relational Model screen, if I select the changed entity from the tree view, in the Details pane there is a "Selected" check box next to the Name property (this line shows the discrepancy between logical name and relational name) but I can't check it. Under the Compare/Copy Options tab in that same dialog, the check box next to Name is checked. But, when I forward engineer the name is not changed.

BTW I just noticed that if I enable "Name Translation" then it seems to work. This is not at all intuitive or obvious, nor does it seem to be explained in the documentation.
    According to the help:
Apply Name Translation: Controls whether formal names are translated to abbreviated names when the logical model is forward engineered to a relational model, and whether abbreviated names are translated to format names when a relational model is reverse engineered to the logical model. Name translation is applied only for valid names. In addition, translations between the words entity/attribute/key and table/column/index are performed.

  • Entity hierachies to table enginiring - short name lost.

    Hi.
    DM 3.1.0.687.
I`m trying to generate new relational model from logical model with entity hierarchies.
Entity short name should translate to table abbriviation.
    It`s OK for simple entity.
A table abbriviation is empty when source entity have subtypes (each subtype of the entity have the same short name).
Problem is new RM only. Exists RM updating translate short name to table abbriviation correct.

As long as you are only changing the name of a parent you will only be affected by any Parent currency adjustment Journals that were made to that Parent/entity combination. The solution to unpost the Journals, change the parent, and repost the journals will solve the problem for now. You are correct in assuming this is not best practice. Part of the beauty of HFM is to have many organizational structures (hierarchies) and for Journals to follow the entities when you move them or change names (rarely). If you assign a parent currency Journal to a specific parent/entity combination and you have organizational changes down the road you will run into this again. We safeguard against this by having a default hierarchy that contains all Base entities. You need one for each currency group. All our parents are USD, so we only require one group, USD_Journals. Use this as the parent for all Parent currency Journal entires. Then it does not matter which hierarchy the entity shows up in, the journal will follow and the USD_Journals/Entitiy combination will never go away.
This solution is for Parent entities only. Base entities should not ever change names or default currencies. It creates the mess I was describing earlier and dangerous risk of loss of historical data.

  • Generating using the entity name

My earlier post would not have made make any sense as the entity names got interpreted! I'll try leaving out the & from the entity names this time.
    My xsl was:

    <xsl:value-of select="COLUMN_NAME"/>:
    lt;INPUT NAME="<xsl:value-of select="COLUMN_NAME"/>"gt;
    </xsl:template>
although 'gt;' is generated as '>' 'lt;' is generated as '#60;'. How do I generate the "<" character?

Using & did not make any difference.
I'm using & other places, and it works fine .. it's just this one ... very strange!

  • How do I change my company Legal Entity name on ITunes Connect?

I recently set up my iTunes Connect account in order to sell books.  However, the legal entity name does not match up identical to the one that the IRS has in it's database.  Specipically, the company name is "The Raj Books, L.L.C." - however, the IRS drops the "The and periods" for its database.  So the company name becomes "Raj Books LLC".  Now my name in the iTunes Connect database does not match the IRS so when the tax ID is entered I am told that it does not match the company name.  I need to change my Legal Entity name in ITunes Connect - can anyone tell me how to accomplish this task?  I do not see the option in my account management section.  Thanks in advance for the  help!

  • Legal Entity Name

I called the IRS to get an EIN (Employer ID Number), which I need to create an iTunes Connect account. I successfully received the EIN, now I have a question while setting up my iTunes Connect account:
What should I write under Legal Entity Name?
    my first and last name?
or my company name, which I had to provide to the IRS, although I'm an individual not a company?

    Thanks
I already tried twice entering my first and last name as legal entity name, and I got twice an email from Apple:

    Hello Group,
I have been receiving below such org.xml.sax.SAXParseException exceptions.
Could you anyone please advise me what could be the reason for these issues and any probable solution thereby.
    NOTE:
Eg1: Below string is causing error:
USER Given: funnicity is funny. isn't it. true. well go to "funnicity" today.
Escaped String : funnicity is funny. isn&#039;t it. true. well go to "funnicity" today.
Eg2: Below string successfully generated spell suggestions:
USER Given: funnicity is funny. isn ' t it. true. well go to " funnicity " today.
Escaped String : funnicity is funny. isn &#039; t it. true. well go to " funnicity " today.
The difference between above two example strings is, characters to be escaped were separated from other chars with a single whitespace.
In the below notes "TEXT:" is the string sent by ERXGoogleSpell to org.w3c.dom.Document.parse(InputStream) method and "ERROR:" is the error received from ERXGoogleSpell:

Thanks so much for all your responses.
I have actually passed-in properly escaped text to document parser, but it is behaving vaguely.
I see the text I have posted in my initial post is parsed by forum.
Here is the text that is reported as error:
    Actual Text: Hello "World"
Escaped Text passed to parser: Hello & quot;World& quot; (note: & and quot are indeed not separated)
Here is the text that is working fine:
Actual Text: Hello " World "
Escaped Text passed to parser: Hello & quot; World & quot; (note: & and quot are indeed not separated)
The difference in above two versions of text input is: quotes and word are separated by a space to work fine.
    Please advise a solution.

The same I guess as if your work won't let you do anything - not a lot
I would hold fire at the moment as I think its too early to be changing router security - I have no inside information but like many I suspect its a combination of firmware updates to routers and a patch needed on the iPad. If solely the latter then it will be fine for you, but if for example, the work routers are using Cisco Clean Connect, then there will be little you can do - it will be up to work I'm afraid.

  • Modeler error: invalid entity name

    Hello,
Newbie question: what does the "modeler error: invalid entity name" error message mean when using the wscompile tool of the wsdp? The full error is
error: modeler error: invalid entity name: "foo" (in namespace: "http://xml.foo")
Does it point to a problem with the namespace, part of the entity or something else?
    Thanks in advance,

I believe it means the identifier called out doesn't belong in the namespace that the compiler thinks it is using.
I've had this problem, and it was when the XML Schema definition had complex types that did not contain the namespace prefix (e.g. using "MyType" instead of "myxsd:MyType" in the schema definition).

  • Unable to create Entity objects for tables in TimesTen database using ADF

    Hi,
I am not able to create Entity and View objects for tables in TimesTen database using ADF. I have installed TimesTen client on my machine.
I have created a database connection by using connection type as "Generic JDBC" and giving driver class and JDBC URL. I am attaching screen shot of the same.
I am right clicking on Model project and selecting New option after that I am selecting ADF Business components and in it I am selecting Business components from tables and there I am querying for tables.I am getting list of tables and when I am trying to create a Entity object from the table after clicking finish Jdev is closing by itself giving an error.
Can anyone please help me how to create Entity objects for tables using TimesTen as database.I might be missing some jars or the way I am creating connection might be wrong or any plugins required to connect to TimesTen.

What is the actual error being given by Jdev? Are you sure that the JDBC connection is using the TimesTen JDBC driver JAR and not some other JDBC driver or the Generic JDBC/ODBC bridge?
Is ADF even supported with TimesTen?
