Forwardin mails in communication express

Hi I have configured communication express on my system(project). When I forward the mail the content that I type is repeated twice. this is not desirable. I have checked the message and could find that when mails are compiled with th rich text editor in comExp it creates two parts. This is common in all email clients. I did the same thing using Thunderbird.
When mails are sent from thunderbird and seen in comexp it renders correctly, so i am assuming it is the problem when mails are forwarded in comexp.
I am trying to find out how mails are created but could not find the relevant files. Going through the java script i could see calls(requests) sent to cmd.msc. i dont know what this is?
Could anyone help me on this.
Thanks in advance

What version of Messaging Server (showrev -p | grep msg)
Is the problem reproducible in a different browser?
When I forward the mail the content that I type is repeated twice. this is not desirable. Under the UWC->Options->Mail->Settings do you have "Reply quoting" enabled or disabled?
When you forward a message, do you use the "Forward" or "Forward Inline" option?

Do the forwarded emails look ok in the Sent folder in your account or do they also render incorrectly here (the emails may be getting busted in transit through the MTA(s))?

  • Communications Express doesn't create access Manager SSO session

    Hi all,
I'm running Communications Express, Sun Access Manager and Sun messaging server, each on seperate hosts.
Single Sign On works i.e. when users have a valid session and point their browser at the Communications Express URL they can access their mail, calendar and addressbooks without further ado.
When they don't have a valid session though and the users go to the Communications Express URL they get a username and password prompt. If they enter valid credentials they will be logged in, but the session created is only a local session, not an Access Manager SSO session. This behaviour has changed from the previous versions of Comm Exp which wouldn't work at all without SSO.
Is it possible to configure communications express to either redirect users to the Access Manager's authentication page or have Comm Exp create the SSO session on the users behalf?
    TIA
    Herman
    Versions:
    - Communications Express 6.3 update 1
    - Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.3-4.01 (built Aug 3 2007; 32bit)
    libimta.so 6.3-4.01 (built 17:13:29, Aug 3 2007; 32bit)

    Hi Shane,
as always your anwer is better then I could have expected. A more or less complete manual
just hours after asking my question. Thanks!

The cleanest solution I could develop to address the behavioural change was to
leverage a web-server policy agent to perform the redirections.
I wrote up a guide but never received any feedback unfortunately so results-may-vary.
I have republished this guide externally - feedback is welcome:
http://msg.wikidoc.info/index.php/AM_redirection_using_Policy_AgentTook me some time to implement, test and write feedback:
The setup we have is a little more complex then the a single box scenario you
    have tested on:
From the internet working inwards we have load balanced
SSL accelerators (apache+SSL doing reverse proxy) in front of
dedicated application servers running communications express.
Mail is retrieved from separate mail-store clusters.
Access manager is configured similarly: load balanced SSL accelerators
in front of application servers running the login page (disributed
authentication UI). Those then talk to the access manager cluster.
Firewalls and access lists between each of those layers. None of the
applications can be accessed directly from the internet and they are
limited in what they can access in the DMZ as well.
I followed your recipe to the letter. After a bit of tweaking everything
worked like a charm. Policy agent installed and configured on the
SUN webserver where communications express is deployed.
Instructions were very good on detail and easy to follow.
We deploy uwc in the root of the server not in /uwc. Something I didn't notice right away.
It would seem that the policy agent expects the values com.sun.am.naming.url
(The URL for the Access Manager Naming service) and
com.sun.am.policy.am.login.url (The URL of the login page on the Access Manager
where users should enter their credentials) to be the same host.
In our setup the URL/host users have to use to log in can't be accessed by the policy agent.
The policy agent should verify sessions directly against the access manager cluster.
I played with some of the override settings in the policy agent configuration file but
without much success. Eventually I used the hostname our users have to use to log
in and abused the /etc/hosts file to map the external hostname to the internal address
of the access manager cluster. Users end up on the correct login page, and the policy
agent can verify the sessions. Ugly, but it works.
The other issue is that the policy agent redirects to:
    com.sun.am.policy.am.login.url?goto=URL_Protected_by_Policy_Agent
When a users enters incorrect credentials they get the default login url, without the
goto parameter. (May be bug in access manager or by design...) After entering their
credentials correctly on their second or third try users won't be redirected back to UWC,
but will end up on the default page defined by their iplanet-am-user-success-url LDAP attribute.
I solved that in the policy agents configuration file by adding the gotoOnFail=URL in the
    definition of com.sun.am.policy.am.login.url:
com.sun.am.policy.am.login.url = https://login.domain.com:443/amserver/UI/Login?gotoOnFail=https://uwc.domain.com:443When you enter incorrect credentials you'll be redirected back to uwc (where the policy agent
will again intercept you and send you on to the login page for your next try). May be more of
an issue in the policy agent then your manual.

  • UWCMail Channel Does Not Open Message in Communications Express

    Hello,
Our Communications Express Mail channel is not working as expected. When the user selects a mail message within the channel, a Communications Express window is opened, but the user's entire Inbox is shown, rather than the message they selected.
Does anyone know how to change this behaviour so that the actual message is opened?
    Thanks a lot,

  • Communications Express 2005Q4 - Calendar problem

I have communications express 2005Q4, messaging server, calendar server, delegated administrator, directory server, access manager & web server fully working. But when
i log in to the comms express and click the calendar tab it gives me the following error:
    Application Error
    java.lang.NullPointerException
Im using schema2 & identity sso. I have checked and double checked all the configure files, and there seems to be nothing wrong.
Any clues on what to do with this?

Not any of my users have a working calendar in UWC,
thats the problem. Not even those users who were
defined during install. What i meant was that the
calendar works when i connect directly to the
    calendars port(http://my-server.com:calendar-port/),
but when i log in to UWC(http://my-server.com/uwc/),
and click the calendars tab, it doesnt work. Clear
enough? :DHum, I might look asking basic questions but I don't have much info to work with :) and I wasn't able to reproduce your problem unless I specificly create ALL users without calendar on the command line.
    1) You tried creating users with the "-S cal, mail" arguments on the command line ?
    2) If you do a csuser -v list "userid" do you have 1 or 2 attributes listed or more like 19-20. (on a user that doesn't work.)
    3) in you logs, do you have any error messages ? Default dir is /var/opt/SUNWics5/logs. and the log file name was stated in the ics.conf file.
Normal log message should look like:
2006-01-18 10:39:12.930 Info 1174:314a78 Polling: Finished sso cache cleaner. Hash table size=0.
    4) Did you checked if your http.* log files correctly access the Calendar database? ex:

  • Communications Express

I've installed the entire Sun Java enterprise suite on a single win 2003 server. Everything seems to work except
Communications Express. When I attempt to log in at servername/uwc I get redirected to System Messenger express. When I attempt to log in again, I go to what appears to be Communications Express, but only mail is displayed, no calander tab. Also, if I click on either the address book tab or options tab, i get a server not found error. I can log into both the mail and calander servers successfully indpendantly.
    Any clues???
    Thanks!!

This is not the problem with Communication Express. You actually did not do, post configuration steps.
Please read the ReadMe file given in CommunicationExpress folder, and activate the SSO.
If you have installed Identity Server (access manager) you have to configure CE with IdentitySSO (schema 2), else you have to configure CE with MSG SSO (schema1).

i had applied the patch 122793-31 few weeks ago, but this problem started before i apply the patch, i'm using application server as a web container. for your information, in our server have 2 LDAP server
This behaviour has been reported before by a number of customers who are running UWC/CE on Application Server:
    http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5424006
My advice remains the same name:
    1. Deploy UWC/CE to Sun WebServer 7 instead which has not exhibited this behaviour.
    2. Log a Sun Support case so a detailed investigation can be performed.

  • Communication Express login to calender

We are trying to access calendar of communication express
While calling the url      http://solaris.neted.com:8080/uwc/?calid=chandra111 to get the calendar of the user chandra111, we are getting the error as
    Calendar Not Available
    Could Not Display View
The selected calendar(s) was either deleted or does not exist or you do not have permissions to view it. Select another calendar(s).
If we give the url as http://solaris.neted.com:8080/uwc
it is connecting to communication express and opening the page which consists of mail, calender, addressbook, options. By default mail is opened.
After this if we give the url
    http://solaris.neted.com:8080/uwc/?calid=chandra111
it is opening the calendar correctly. My requirement is to get the calendar first
Can we connect to calendar directly without touching mail.

    Hi,
From link that I did post
Database Management Differences between Oracle APEX 2.1 and later versions of Application Express
Once you upgrade Application Express within your Oracle Database XE, you will lose the Oracle APEX interface to perform some of your database management functions. This includes the ability to create and alter users, set database parameters, etc. To perform these functions, you will need to use either SQL Developer or SQL*Plus.
The following is a list of database management functions that cannot be performed in later versions of Application Express but that were features of Oracle APEX 2.1, the default interface of Oracle Database XE. For each, there is a SQL Statement provided that can be executed either in a SQL Worksheet of Oracle SQL Developer or using SQL*Plus when connected to your Oracle Database XE. Most of these commands need to be executed as the user SYS. You are looking things that are in Apex version 2.1. That version of Apex is installed ready to XE database and have database admin features.
You did upgrade to Apex version 4.0, and you lose database admin features.
Apex 3.x -> do not anymore provide those features

  • Can't send E-mails using Outlook Express on WRT300N

Hello, I searched through the forums to find problems similar to mine, but everyone had a different router than mine, plus none of the solutions worked for me.
I just purchaced and installed my router yesterday. Since the install, I have not been able to send e-mails using Outlook Express, but I do recieve e-mails. I am using the WRT300N Wireless-N Router.
Trying to get my local news service up and running, and right now, e-mail communication is vital........
    Thanks.

    Tampa Bay News Online

Well of course, but the error message says socket error, which doesn't tell how to fix it. Even the Outlook Express help site doesn't give any suggestions to fix anything, other than "Your internet connection has failed," which is not the problem.
To the disable firewalls suggestion: I did try disabling my firewalls and all of my virus/ e-mail scan software just to check it out. The thing is, I don't see how my Windows XP Firewall, or anything I've been using could be a problem. Right now, because of the error all my sent e-mails are stuck in the outbox, when I disconnect my router and connect everything back up leaving the router out of the picture, the e-mails are sent out as normal. This problem only occurs with the router connected.
I also need to stream live audio, and I've heard it's a pain using a wireless router...
Thanks for the suggestions, hopefully someone will provide the winning suggestion so I don't have to call customer service!

  • Communication express dates inconsistencies

    hello
an user sent some emails via connector on the 3/7 but these emails never arrived. one moth later on the 4/8 this user retyped these emails and sent them again. then she connected to the uwc and in the sent items she could see the emails with date of 3/7 but when she opened them it was in fact the mails van 4/8. I am just wondering what causes this behaviour and how to correct the dates or show the correct messages with the correct dates?
    thank you in advance.

I have asked more questions about what they mean never arrived. they just said 'had lost emails'.. Hmm... I'm a little surprised it took over a month before they tried to resend it and bring this to your attention. This alone makes me a little 'suspicious' of their story.
as far as the messages in the message store are concerned. the date in the header is from 4/8. and if i do a ls -l in the folder where these messages are stored, it also shows 4/8, however in communications express, sent items you see them with date of 3/7.You need to be careful of which folders the customer is looking at and which folders you are looking at. Remember that Outlook by default stores emails in the "Sent Items" folder and Comms Express stores them in the "Sent" folder. So make sure the user is actually looking at the correct folder -- this would explain how the dates could be different. Otherwise it isn't possible for an email to have a date header and a timestamp of 4/8 then show as 3/7 in Comms Express.
