Frames in numbers

hello!
I found it quite inconvenient to put frames around cells or cell areas.
isn't there a faster way than 1st clicking the frame button to choose a frame type and then the color of the frame?
and how can I delete the frame around a cell again. I only have the options given by the pull down menue shown in the picture below.
cannot believe that apple is in terms of visualizing/ illustration more inconvenient than microsoft is...

Here we are end users like you so we know the cells behaviour like you.
If you aren't satisfied by this one, use the ddedicated channel :
_Go to "Provide Numbers Feedback" in the "Numbers" menu_, describe what you wish.
Then, cross your fingers, and wait _at least_ for iWork'11

  • Best way to add numbers or layout multiple pages

I have a ticket that needs to be numbered. It is small enough to go 5 up on a sheet that is 8.5 x 11.
Each ticket needs to be numbered.
I can make a master page and add all of the numbers that way and then make a pdf.
What is the best way to get the numbers on tickets that are printing 5 up on a sheet and I can print through a copier?

There are many ways to do this:
    1. create single page tickets, auto-numbered, and use imposition feature of copier (if available and access to)
    2. use data merge with numbered list, and produce multiple record layout to create a 5-up document
    3. create a 5-up template with threaded text frames for numbering, import a numbered list that flows through document

  • Wrong numbering notes

    Hi
I have a large MS Word text in which all notes start at note figure 1 in each chapter. When I import the text in Indesign only the first note figure of my book is 1 (all the other chapters start counting from the last note figure of the previous chapter). Is there a way to start at note figure 1 at the beginning of each chapter in Indesign like it does in Word?
    Thanx
    Fons

    Hi Peter,
thank you for answering. Here is a picture of the text frames. The left and the right text frame are not connected.  The left text frame begins on the page before and floats into the left column...
FYI this is just a sample file.
    A possible workaround:
If I put some empty paragraphs into the "over text" and don't expand the text frame the numbering is some how correct. But then i have an error in the preflight...

  • Compressor drops a frame... for years! (apparently)

I tried this in FCP 4.5, FCP 5, and FCP 6.0.4 -- on 3 different G-5 machines, in both Panther and Leopard:
Apple's 24p compressor just completely drops frame 20:20 (20 seconds and 20 frames, as numbered in a 24p FCP timeline). It will go directly from 20:19 to 20:21. I never noticed this in the past, as I hadn't compressed anything that had motion through the frame at that particular point.
I wonder if anybody could verify this further...
Again, it's the 24p encoder, two-pass VBR, best motion estimation ... tweaking bit rates or aspect ratios had no effect.

Thank you for your help, and the how-to video. Very helpful. I have use MPEG Streamclip in the past, but thought I was just missing something major in iPhoto.
    Thanks again

  • Batch capture settings do not match project settings

Batch capture audio settings do not conform to project settings-

When I set for batch capture by creating off-line clips using the "Log Clip" option the off-line clip shows audio as
32KHZ 16-bit  everyting else is correct as project settings.
Just prior to creating the off-line batch capture clip I had sucessfully captured from the same device using the same tape shot with the above settings including 48khz 16-bit audio by using standard " Capture" by setting in & out then clicking Capture>In/Out.
I've looked at capture settings etc...unable to determine to change audio settings etc or why the audio settings under batch capture do not conform to project settings...
    Any ideas?
    Tnx,

    Thanks for your reply, Harm....
Well now...having negated all the possibilities you listed, I decided to do a an actual batch capture with clips which I previously logged which reported audio at 32kHz instead of the project setting of 48kHz:
    1. two clips  were selected from the same device/tape ( both selected from the logging util which erroneously reported audio at 32kHz) for the batch
    2. both clips captured "flawlessly"
    3. both clips after the batch capture then reported audio as being 48kHz
Btw, I also did a batch capture from the same device/tape in Pr 6.x...and it reported and captured at 48khz...I must say, I must prefer the legacy version of Pr 6 for batch capture which creates a log .pbl file which can then be easily exported as a csv to and .xls etc..IMO, much more useful...and useable..
    Mi dos pesos(.002US)
So it would appear there is some kind of bug in the Pr cs4 batch capture util that is erroneously reporting audio settings?
Should this go to the devel as a possible bug?
    Tnx,

  • The Limitations of Live Captions?

    Hi,
Just wondered if anyone could offer any general advice about the possible benefits of using Live Captions for a project which I’m currently working on.
I’m in the throes of setting up an 800page InDesign document (split into smaller files and chapters) which should eventually include about 300 graphics produced in Illustrator (CS5.5 versions – the company will not currently fund an upgrade to CS6). Traditionally, we have always included the graphics captions as part of the Illustrator image as we found they had a habit of being forgotten about by the authors if they were to be added at a later stage in InDesign. If we’ve also needed to include sequential figure numbering we’ve typed them in manually in Illustrator – a bit plebeian but on smaller documents it has worked well enough.
Given the size of this document, I’ve been looking at the features of Live Captioning but have run into the following queries – can anyone help, please? For the purposes of these questions, let’s assume I am working on Chapter 2 and need to caption up 3 graphics: Fig 2.1, Fig 2.2 and Fig 2.3:
The text for a Live Caption needs to be included as metadata in the Illustrator file. Is there any way to print this out with the Illustrator image (directly beneath it would be ideal) to ensure it does not get forgotten about by the author? I’ve Googled and Googled and it doesn’t appear to be possible – have I missed something? If not, I would definitely recommend this as a product feature for CS7!
Is it possible to mix up the text styles in a Live Caption? We use three part captions, the first being the figure number (in bold), the second being the benefit (also in bold) and the third being a description (in italics).A typical caption would run something like this –
“Fig 2.1: Environmentally-friendly energy. Our use of horses to pull the trams rather than engines reduces carbon emissions and will protect the local parkland.”
I can separate out a style for the figure number via the Numbering Paragraph Style but if I go the Live Caption route and write the rest of the caption via Illustrator’s metadata I can’t seem to distinguish between the benefit text and the description text unless I turn it into a Static Caption. Is this possible within Live Caption?
Live Captions appear to only be able to run to one line in length without resizing / retracking?
Finally, getting the captions to automatically renumber if the locations of the graphics are moved around seems tricky. Let’s say I've got my three images in place – Figs 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3. The order comes through to move 2.2 to the front of the document – in effect turning it into Fig 2.1.As it’s in its own frame, the numbering in the Live Caption does not flip to 2.1 automatically as it would if I were using a series of linked text frames. The only solution seems to be to delete and then re-generate the first Live Caption frame after the image has been moved which then auto-renumbers the ones that follow.
I can see the benefit of Live Captioning for ensuring a particular piece of text always accompanies a particular image. For anything more complex it appears to be a bit of a pullava. I’m tempted to just stick with doing everything manually in Illustrator or are there ways to automate everything easily using Live Captions and cross-references which I’ve missed?
As always, thanks in advance for any and all advice offered.

Here how I would have approach this.. See if it can help you.
    1. Metadata description is added to illustrator graphic using Bridge.
    2. Graphic placed in InDesign.
    3. Create a Paragraph Style with a named Numberining List with a character style for Fig., add a Nested Styles option for the second bold part ending at a sentence. The main text is Italic.
    4. Make a Live Caption setup. Using Description, the paragraph style and put the results on his own layers. Not grouped.
    5. If using CS6 make an Object Style with only the Text Frame Option for Auto-Sizing Height only. From the bottom.
    6. Place all you graphics in InDesign.
    Then when ready...
    7. Select all the Graphics in the Link Panel, and choose Generate Live Captions.
    8. Then use this Script: "TomaxxiVARIprocessor" - > http://tomaxxi.com/downloads/
    9. When executed, the script allow you to convert the specified variables to text, and apply a object style at the same time.
This should allow the nested style to kick in, allow reflow, and also apply the auto-fit text option.
Sure you will loose the Dynamic updating of the "Live" Captions, but if you ever need to redo them, just trash the Caption Layersm and redo steps 7 to 9.

  • Two-Column text flow

I would like to create a body of text arranged in two columns so that text that is entered into the first column will, when first col. is full,  continue into the second, and when that is full, into a new page, etc. Would you please show me how to set up my page to make this happen.
At present I am having to manually move text around. Wondering if there is a way to have inDesign manage this for me automatically.

    'S'teffin 'T'D' schrieb:
The first thing is to make Text frame option numbered 2 in the master page. And Just flow the content, it will be fine and easy.
Nope, the correct answer would depend on the version, what we don't know.
Your answer would be the best practice for InDesign CS4 and older.
With InDesign CS5 and later it is better to set up the master with a single column and set up object styles for the text frames with 2 or more columns. It is helpful to put normal ruler guides to the column edges.
Span column would not work in 2 single columns, only with a single text frame.

  • How can I set up a List of Figures with extra text?

I'm writing my Art History dissertation, which includes a substantial group of figures at the end.  My advisor has requested that I caption the images, but also provide a List of Figures before the actual images begin.  I've got it figured out this far--I'm using the Table of Contents feature to automatically number the captions and then pull the caption text back to the List of Figures.
Here's the snag:  I need to include attribution information about where I found the images I'm using, but only in the list of figures.  My advisor specifically requested that I not include this information in the captions as he felt it cluttered the images.  How can I include small amounts of text (for example "After Jones 1987, Fig. 22") for hundreds of images in the List of Figures without putting this info in the captions themselves?
Of course, just typing the info into the List of Figures doesn't work--as soon as the list is updated the extra text gets erased.  I've been playing around with hidden layers, but when I create a new hidden layer with text frames the numbering of the original layer is disturbed.  Any ideas about how to preserve the numbering and include the extra information in the List of Figures without adding it to the visible caption? I'd be very grateful for any help.

Perhaps at the end of your caption, in a [None] coloured text, 0.1 pt size? Don't put it into a separate paragraph, 'cause you'd need to pick this up as well for your TOC. To edit this invisibly small text, you can use the Story Editor.
(And I got quite far suggesting making it Conditional Text, which you would normally hide, having it show only when you generated the List of Figures, before a few dormant neurons woke up and demanded attention.
'Course it would work -- you would get the extra text in your list, and if you hide the conditional text again, your document would reverse to "normal" state. However, making the conditional text visible may cause your text to reflow, and thus your regular Contents would be okay but the List of Figures -- generated with more text in your document! -- could well be off by a few pages ...)

  • TypeError: Error #1009: How do I find the exact line of the error?

I got the following error when testing a project:
    [SWF] ProjectZ_iOS.swf - 12154544 bytes after decompression
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
                    at ProjectZ_iOS_fla::MainTimeline/goButtons()[ProjectZ_iOS_fla.MainTimeline::frame71:54]
I'm not sure how to read this as there is no "frame 71." Also, what does this mean, "MainTimeline::frame71:54"?

flash is detecting code on frame 71 of your main timeline in ProjectZ_iOS.fla.
if you have scenes, the timeline in each scene is laid end-to-end and the frames are numbered sequentially.  so, while you may not think you have a frame 71, flash does.

  • Major Compiling Errors in CS6

I am encountering Compiling Errors (error unknown)  evertime I try to export media.  I have footage from a Cannon XF100 (.xmf H.624) and I am using the correct settings (29.7 1920x1080, etc).  I have read that others are experiencing these compiling errors.  What can I do, or what is being done, to fix this issue?  I have an earlier version of Premiere at work and I never run into these issues.  However, my daughter and I are trying to create videos at home and this errors occurs 90% of everytime we try and export.
I have a brand new computer with more than adequate video, RAM, etc . . . it was sepcifically designed for video editing.  Windows 7, etc. . . . brand new and powerful.  Similar (if not better) than what I have at work and that machine has no problems, but it is also running a prior version of Premier.
    I set each file up as suggested with . . . For editing Canon XF MPEG2 50 Mb/s formats  - 16:9 progressive-scan  -  1080p HD video at 29.97 frames per second.  48kHz audio.  Drop-Frame Timecode numbering.
    I export using the setting H.264  -  HD 1080p 29.97.
Any suggestions?  Help is greatly appreciated.

Along with Ann's comments, and the link to the Adobe KB Article, on Error Compiling Movie, some other things to check for:
Gaps in the Video - if you have any, that are not covered by some sort of "overlay," whether a Title, PiP, etc., and you DO want the black that appears, just create Black Video (New Icon on the Project Panel) and Trim it to fit that gap. If you do NOT want the gap, just delete, or close it up.
Check for odd Assets, where the program is stopping/hanging. MP3's, and some MOV's, can be problematic.
Check for overly-large Still Images - though PrPro CS 5, and above, can handle them better, many of them DO draw on resources, while they are being processed.
    Good luck,

  • How to put AVCHD and AVI formats in a timeline using Adobe production suite?

I shot an event with two different types of cameras (AVCHD camera and tape camera with AVI output). I converted the video of avchd into 1080p first, then put it with the tape output together, the video was jittery. How can I put them together in a timeline to have the best video as possible?

  • Why won't my mpegs play in Premiere after installing Encore?

When it came time to burn a DVD of my feature length project I found Encore was not installed. I used my CD disks to install and when I reopened Premiere again my .mov files (added after capturing the HDV footage) play fine but the mpeg files from the hdv camera are offline. They will not link. I cannot import nor can I render them in the sequences.  I can find video renders that play without audio but I cannot find the audio renders.  My captured clips are on the drive and play fine in Windows media player and bridge.  These are my project settings:
(they worked perfectly before the Encore install)

    Submix 5.1 tracks: 0
Last note: my video preview settings are on I frame only mpeg. When I first opened one sequence it was on avi and I changed it somehow. Still all sequences are no I frame and there is no way to change them.

I had seen that page thanks. I think my sequence presets may be off but my sequences actually work. Project is mixed between mpeg clips from tape and mov tapes from DSLR Canon T2i. The Mov clips all play on the timeline as well as the titles and other music that I imported.
The only issue is with the mpeg clips which did not import into a new project I created.  I am wondering if there is a way (if it's the right solution) to reinstall the correct codec for mpegs into Premiere.  The clips play in Bridge, Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic perfectly so they are not corrupt.

  • Quality of FireWorks graphics

Why is it that when I create a graphic in FireWorks, then
import the PNG into Flash, it loses resolution?
For my project, I create screens, icons, and other items in
FireWorks because it is much better for that, but when I bring them
into Flash, they look terrible. Anything I create in Flash looks
fine. if I understand correctly, Flash graphics are vector images,
and therefore scale nicely and always look crisp. But I was hoping
that there was an integration between FW and Flash that would allow
    my images to remain crisp.
For example, if I create capture a screen, take it into
FireWorks to adjust it slightly then import it into Flash, it looks
terrible. So as a result I have to recreate all screens in Flash,
    and it's labor intensive.
    HELP!

I don't have a lot of Premiere experience, but when I want to create an NTSC Widescreen sequence, these are the video specs:
For editing with IEEE1394 (FireWire/i.LINK) DV equipment.
    Widescreen NTSC video (16:9 interlaced).
    48kHz (16 bit) audio.
    Drop-Frame Timecode numbering.
    Video Settings
    Frame size: 720h 480v (1.2121)
    Frame rate: 29.97 frames/second
Pixel Aspect Ratio: D1/DV NTSC Widescreen 16:9 (1.2121)
    Fields: Lower Field First
It automatically makes the sequence interlaced. How do I make it progressive?
(Also, can I copy shots already edited into the interlaced sequence, and paste them into a new progressive sequence?)

  • How to insert a photo into a film strip theme

I am making a imovie with a lot of pictures and few videos but I was wondering how to insert the pictures into the filmstrip theme. I have seen it done in other peoples movies before i just cant figure it out

    Hi Bob,
With titles, all you need to do is drag them directly onto a video clip or still - the Theme will automatically take care of placing the video into the appropriate frames.
Similarly with transitions. Drag the theme transition between 2 clips (video or stills) and the frames will be "populated" automatically. If you now click on the transition, you will see that each frame is numbered, both in the viewer and the timeline. Simply drag the numbers in the timeline to a different position to change the stills in the transition.
Hope I've not misunderstood what you are trying to do!

  • Editing window size

I am shooting wide screen format with a Canon VIXIA HG20. In Premier Pro CS4 the video in the program sequence window looks like it is enlarged and the outer areas of the video are cut off. The video in the source sequence window, however, displays the video as I saw it in the viewfinder of the camera. I have no idea why this is happening and have had absolutely no success in solving the problem. I sure hope one of you provide a solution.
    Thanks in advance.

I have the same camera and I don't get green frames. The only time I did was when I pulled larger files (longer length clips) directly from the camera to my PC. However, they were entirely green with no picture visable. This quit happening when I started using Canon's nearly useless software that came with the camera. This software allowed me to retrieve the entire clip in one larger file.
I am still on the lookout for what sequence presets work best for this camera if anyone has some ideas. I understand this mostly affects the final output to DVD where some people have gotten horizontal lines.
I'm also basically uneducated as to what is offered by some of these presets below:
    -AVCHD 1080i25 (50i) Anamorphic
    Anamorphic 1920x1080 (ex. 1440x1080) 16:9 interlaced HD at 25fps
    -AVCHD 1080i25 (50i)
1920x1080 square pixels (non-anamorphic) at 16:9 interlaced HD Video at 25fps
    -AVCHD 1080i30 (60i) Anamorphic
Anamorphic 1920x1080 (ex. 1440x1080) 16:9 interlaced HD at 29.97 fps drop-frame timecode numbering
    -AVCHD 1080i30 (60i)
