  • I received an email "Support Apple :Ref *******". Is it a fraud email?

I received an email from Apple Service, but I am worried that it is a fraud email.
    <Edited by Host>

At the very least you need to change the Apple ID password. If you change the password, they will not be able to use the ID for purchases.
    Apple ID: Changing your password
Then contact Apple by phone of possible and explain the situation to them and seek their advice. Here are two sites where you can contact them.

  • I have suddenly been getting a lot of fraud emails.  Does anyone know how to set up blocks?

    Hello,
I have been suddenly getting tons of fraud emails.  This has never been a problem in my mack mail in the past. Does anyone know how to set up blocks?  I have searched through preferences but have not been able to find any way to do it.  Bounce is of no use as these emails are not "respondable".

  • Fraud emails

Have started to get emails from BT regarding change to new email system. Which is fraud emails , I have not opened any of them. When will BT do something about this as I am not the only one getting them. Customers deserve better than this from BT.

    Hi.
What is the title of the emails ? Is it the following :-
    http://services.ogilvy-uk.trclient.com/online/18262632-10.html
Note, the above is a genuine link - as the original link in the received email contains a web beacon with the bt.com URL at the start - which I have removed. Even so, no idea why this webpage is not stored on bt.com rather than some 3rd party host in Australia - perhaps cost.
You've implied that they are fraud emails, can you say what makes you believe that ?
There is no "name" due to the link being the same for everyone.
However, there will be many 1000s who will not open them due to the phishing problem plaguing large companies. Unfortunately some of these people, and indeed a lot who will not be able to understand what to do with the change, will have issues with their email in the future.

  • How do I get rid of a fraud email similar to mine

my banker just got an email "Not from me" similar to my real e-mail.
Instead of mac at he end had an me.
This email was asking to "change wire instructions"
I am sure this is someone with the intention on fraud.
How do I get rid of this other email similar to mine?

In addition to Grant's as always sage advice, you can take some precautions. Almost certainly it is your mail service provider where the hack occured. Nothing you can do to undo what has happened, but you can make it more difficult for it to happen again by changing your password.
    Good advice here:

  • I got a fraud alert from Firefox when entering in personal information...did the personal information go through, or did Firefox stop it?

I got a fraud email from "Apple" saying that my Apple ID had been used to make a charge on my account, from Russia, and I needed to confirm some information to delete the charge.
Like a dummy, I entered in my personal information. When I clicked done, I got a webpage in my Firefox browser saying that it was a fraudulent website and chose the option to "Get me out of here!"
I'm wondering if my personal information actually went through, or if Firefox stopped it because that was a known fraudulent site?

It's possible that the information went through (and BTW, Apple would never send you an e-mail like the one that you sent, that's an easy scam to identify).
To be safe, change any passwords associated with any accounts you have that could have been compromised due to this. Apple ID, E-mail, etc.

  • I recieved a fraudulant email saying I bought an app ( TomTom) and trying to get me to log in and send all my details credit card etc to cancel the payment who do I report this to

    Fraud emails help required!

You can forward the email to Apple at this address : [email protected] , and then delete the email

  • Email Address used only for Skype is now receiving...

My [email protected] email address which has only ever been used by me to register for Skype is now receiving a lot of junk mail. Has Skype been careless with my details or are they in the business of selling personal information or is there another reason?

at&t has something on their website as well about reporting fraud (email)
Check the e-mail fraud examples to see if you have received a known phishing scam. If your e-mail looks like one of the examples, delete it. AT&T may be aware of the current fraudulent activities and working with the appropriate agencies to resolve this issue.
If your e-mail doesn't match any of the examples, please forward the e-mail to AT&T Security.
Option 2: If the phish does not resemble a message from AT&T but is from a AT&T address, send an e-mail to [email protected]
Option 3: For all other cases (non-AT&T messages from other e-mail accounts, bank scams, etc.) send an e-mail to [email protected]
So looks like you want to check the examples to see if it's a known scam,   if it is not then forward it to the [email protected] to report it.
Verizon also has a way for you to report a threat to them as well but looks like it may be more geared towards their own customers, like AT&T does for theirs.
If you receive a suspicious email, you should not reply to it, nor should you open any attachments, click on links contained in the email or provide any information in response to it. You can report suspected fraud involving Verizon or Verizon Wireless to [email protected] or [email protected], respectively. Please include the word "phishing" in the subject line of your email and provide as much information as possible about the fraudulent activity or message.

Hey , Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer is failing to scan to email as your email and password are not being recognized. I would like to assist you today with resolving this scan to email issue. However, I do need to clarify a few things before I am able to guide you to a solution.  (1) Are you utilising the Scan to Email feature under the HP Scan software (works with Local Email Clients only: Outlook, or Mozilla Thunderbird). Or, are you using the Scan Directly to Email feature from the front panel of your printer (requires you to configure an email profile)?   (2) What email client are you using (Outlook, Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc)?  (3) What Operating System are you using on your computer?   (4) Is your HP Officejet connected via a USB Cable or Network connection to your computer?   Once I have the answers to my questions above above I will be more than happy to guide you to a solution. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • Subscription expires soon notice

    Hi,
I received an email today that state my subscription expires in 3 days. I look at my account status and everything is current. The email does not say what subscription expires.
Is this a fraud email or is it something I need to address
    Thank you
    PL

Skype offered free trial "World" subscriptions to some users which are "expiring". This email is a fairly deceitful attempt to get you to extend your current subscription in my opinion.

  • Expert Advice

I recently received my Oracle Associate's in PL/SQL Development and I have been looking for opportunities as a PL/SQL Developer. I do plan on going for the Professional Certificate very soon. The problem is that a lot of companies are looking for someone with experience. As a beginner, what advice can you give someone who looking to get their "foot in the door"? Thanks in advance.

I want to know something about the job what you were saying b4.look this days companies are asking for bond money.after campussing they took the money from the student/freshers and giving a resit as training cost / or some thing else...after six month you can hardly find them.our govt of india is taking steps yet to come up with a result.it is an another perspective of freshers who want to perform in corporate sector. :D ;-)
I know i need to have a sound knowledge but there is no end of knowledge.even after OCM[ (its only for dba track ) (that i guess)]a freshers will be asked by a HR thrice " you are freshers right??how will you perform in our organizations??".and some one may not be called for technical round.
what i believe just you need good reference to avoid all these scenario.
lets look at a story who i know personally :
I know someone who was asked about a linux command:
interviewers : which command help you to know about the user are not login?
candidate : first i will know the list of users who are actually logged in.
.................then subtract it by total users.
Inter : how do you wake/make up a server?
    candidate : machine restart.
    :D
still he got the job(the company has very good reputation in india and in global market).he had no technical back ground from OU/recognized univ b4 that interview. But he made a fake experience certificate and company will hardly analyze those....at max make a call to that office.anyway thats a different issue. ;-)
now he is a disaster dba.so....??
the recession makes the thing tougher for us thats the main reason and what you need a good reference and adaptability.
    regards
I and probably a lot of others understand corruption is at time rife and almost a way of life in certain countries. And the issue of "paper DBA's" has long been known.
If you have detailed specific information as to a fraud event with regard to a certification please:
    1) contact the ocpfraud_ww email given by Certification Forum Moderator in:
Re: How to prevent DBAs from using dumps for passing Exams
( Aside to moderator: I have was noted it isn't mentioned here: [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=138#4] )
The email address is also available from here:
[http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2008/12/cheating_part_7_what_can_you_a.html] (Email: Oracle Certification Program Fraud Email Alias)
You should of course only do this if it is safe for you do to so, the fact you have mentioned on a public forum means it may be not safe. However I would suggest others with significant SPECIFIC INSTANCES of fraud post to ocpfraud_ww. Please note I believe it is not ocpfraud_ww's to reply to any complaint, however I suppose in this instance they might check with the employer they if the have an employee X claiming to have certifications A,B,C then these are possibly not valid and to explain and to take appropriate action ... etc etc.
Obviously customers of this organisation would be concerned, and from what you say there is a strong possibility bigdelboy himself is an end customer of this organisation in some manner.
    Rgds - bigdelboy.

  • Why did I get an email from the fraud dept saying my order is on hold, told to call a number, and then told by dept it's not true?

I placed an order to upgrade my phone yesterday, and the order went through, I was told the new phone would arrive Thursday. After I got home from work today I saw an email from Verizon that says "Dear Customer:
Verizon Fraud Prevention Team is currently reviewing the following order on your wireless account. Please call the Verizon Fraud Prevention Team at 888-483-7200 option 3, press 1 to verify this Order."
I called this number immediately, since I need this phone ASAP, assuming it would just be a recording and I would have to verify an account number or something. But instead, after following the instructions, I was put on hold because I needed to speak to someone in person. After several instances of my call being cut off after being on hold for at least half an hour, I finally got through after three hours and was able to speak to a fraud representative. I gave her my info and told her the problem and she told me I had called the wrong department. Instead of the fraud department, I needed the online order department. She transferred me, and I waited on hold again. When the representative from the online order dept picked up, she first told me if it was a fraud issue I'd need to speak with the fraud dept - who had JUST transferred me to her. After this, she said that my order is not on hold, because it hasn't even been processed yet or had the credit check done. When I asked if this meant I hadn't needed to call at all, she said yes. Is this actually true or is there a chance that there's an issue with my order I don't know about? If there is no issue, these emails really shouldn't be sent out, they're incredibly misleading, and I've wasted a whole lot of time and experienced an incredible amount of anxiety for no reason.

Hi.  I checked on the order and it says the order is currently being processed and I should check back tomorrow. I'm mostly just concerned because I got an email saying the order was on hold, and I want to make sure it actually does go through and I'm not just waiting for a delivery that's not going to come. I'm still confused as to why I'd get an email saying I had to call the fraud department only to be told I shouldn't have called the fraud department.

  • HT3702 I was send an email from apple asking me to update my credit card information or my account will be cancelled within 48hours is this a valid email from apple or fraud ??

I was send an email via apple stating that I need to update my credit card information or my account will be cancelled in 48hours. Is this a valid email or fraud. I had the iphone for more than 2 years and did not receive a similar email

It's a phishing attempt to get your account and payment details (Apple don't send emails like that) . If you still have the email then you could forward it to Apple : [email protected]
