Fraudulent Activity

My visa card seems to be getting charged a monthly fee of around $13 to $14 and it recurs at the end of each month. I rang my bank and they told me to try to sort it out first with Skype. However, everytime I try to follow the link to report this fraudulent activity I get a message saying the page is down and to try back later. How long to I have to keep waiting for them to fix this problem so that I can report this issue. I really don't want to have to re-apply for a new visa card as it means  lot of work re-organising my direct debits.
Hope someone here can help me with an answer

  • Possible fraudulent activity - unable to contact c...

My account is not working properly. There is a message on my account telling me to contact customer support quoting a reference number. But I am unable to contact customer support.  I am following all the instructions, but I just end up back at this community support site.  Even the 'reporting fraudulent activity' tab refers me back here.  Skype is telling me to contact them. But I can't!!  Can anyone help?  I am now getting more and  more concerned that there is something fraudulent going on. Money has been deducted from my credit card, but I am being told I have no credit.

Hello - can anyone help me? I have bought a Europe Unlimited subscription (for calls to mobiles/landlines). It worked for fine for about 3 days,  but has stopped working.  When I checked my account it tells me I have no skype credit (which doesn't make sense as I definitely paid for a month and have used nothing like that).  But when I try to add a new subscription, it tells me I stil have an active Europe Unlimited subscription.
I also get a message saying there is a technical problem with my account, and to contact customer support. But there is no customer support. I just get stuck in an endless loop of faqs and 'community support'.  How is that possible? How can a company take money from you, and then simply refuse to provide an e-mail or phone number for support when things go wrong? It's totally unethical.  I can understand FAQs for people looking to join Skype.  But once you've paid for a service surely you're entitled to a basic level of support.
Very very angry and frustrated customer who has just wasted about 2 hours trawling through totally unhelpful FAQs!

  • Fraudulent activity - Account hacked

    Hi.
My account has been hacked, someone has paid for a bunch of Skype credits to the value of around £80.  I've not used the account in a while and was notified by email that credit was being paid for with my account.
I've changed my password and unlinked the payment method associated with the account - how do I report fraudulent acitivity and get the money returned?
    Cheers,
    Travis

    Dear Readers,
Here in the United States, I heard on the morning news another major retailer's sales and transaction records have been breached with reportedly upwards of 6,000,000 (six million ) credit card numbers stolen ... credit card fraud escalates, and apparently will continue to be a serious problem.  I disagree that these fraudulent purchases are "an inside job" and that Skype is intentionally "hiding" how to contact its customer service unit; problems with Skype's customer service web site have unfortunately been on-going and reported here previously.  When I typed "contact Skype Customer Service" in my web browser's search, this FAQ article was the first result:  https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA1170/how-can-i-contact-skype-customer-service
That said, and appreciating the frustration, aggravation, and consequences of these problems, so all are prepared with the information required when you finally do reach Skype Customer Service, please review this FAQ article:
    https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10384/why-has-my-credit-debit-card-been-charged-by-skype-when-i-h...
Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
If you continue to experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service, try again using a different web browser and choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented. Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also impede reaching an agent.
Please remember to sign on to your account details and check that your Skype account's registered e-mail address is accurate, and then change your Skype account and any saved payment method account passwords immediately, if you have not already done so.
    Best regards,
    Elaine

  • Have been trying to contact iTunes regarding fraudulent activity

I have spoken to my Debit Card Services this morning regarding several iTunes monies coming out of my bank every month. They gave me a phone number to contact the Apple Store to check who has made these purchases, I rang on 0845 600 1683 but had no joy. Every month since October last year these purchases have occurred, but I have not made them. Sometimes this amounts to well over £100 per month. What or who can I contact regarding this?

First thing I would do is change your  bank account details in your Apple account, using the edit account - you should be able to remove the  Card details - use 0000 0000 0000 0000 -  or  whatever. On a Credit card re-newal I  inadvertantly  put a wrong digit in my new card number - which stopped any transacations till I corrected it.
Second,  Did your card supplier  state they would stop any more claims from Apple? Seems starnge  they seem to  just tell you to conbatct Apple.
I would contact your bank/credit card supplier again and notify  them of frauduleant claims on your  card and ask them to refuse any payments requested by Apple until you have resolved the problem.
Have  you  asked who / what / where these payments are going?
If your account is deemed "hacked" or subject to fraudulent claims  from app sellers, you should be able to get  your many back from Apple.
Keep phoning support and use the contact us email access also.

  • Fraudulent activity- account hacked credit purcha...

HOw do I contact skype? my account was hacked into and £150 of credit purchased using paypal whilst was abroad in Africa two weeks ago.
I was (and still am) unable to contact skype. the contact us page says they are having problems and to post on forum but each time I try there is unexpected error.
Have changed password and blocked skype from taking money from Paypal. Skype did freeze the account as suspicious so luckily no more taken.
The only reason they had my financial details was because had taken out trial of phone service but cancleed 24 hrs later when realised it did not extend to Senegal. I had no way of knowing they had kept my details because of £1 debited at beginning of trial.
If am unable to get through to skype I will need to go to resolution page at paypal.

    Sorry to hear that.
Unfortunately your options are limited. The only way to contact skype is using online form and chat.
    Try
    https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA1170/how-can-i-contact-skype-customer-service
When it comes to customer service Skype (or Microsoft)'s attitude is that weather you pay or not WE WILL NOT PROVIDE YOU ANY SERVICE and we dont care.
If it doesnt work then raise your query with paypal. They might be able to help.
PS I am yet to find anyone on this thread whoes problem is been resolved..
    Good luck

  • Fraudulent charges

When I ordered two phones from VZW online, the invoice said the voice plan monthly charge would be $36.80/mo.
It also stated that the two $35 one time activation fee would be charged then credited on the first bill.
The first bill arrived, and the voice plan charge was $50 plus a pro-rated $24.19 for 15/31 days.  ($19.58 overcharge)
The $35 activation appeared for each phone, but there was no credit.   ($70 overcharge)
I called customer service, they stated that my discounted plan rate may take several billing cycles to take effect, and the overcharges would be corrected.
The discount has since been applied to the voice plan rate, but there was has been no credit for the activation fee, or for the overcharge for voice plan from the first bill.
Now, six billing cycles later, I contacted VZW regarding correcting the $89.58 overcharge from the first bill.
They offered to reimburse $16.32 of the $19.58 overcharge for the voice plan on the first bill, but refused to credit the two activation fees.
They said that the line in my invoice that stated the activation fee would be charged and credited was an error, and did not apply to my plan.
I'm pretty sure that I can refute the charges through my credit card company given that the monthly billing rate, and the activation credit was spelled out in the bill at the time that I placed the order.   I'm wondering if I should just handle this through my credit card company, or if I should be contacting the BBB or Attorney General to help stop this type of fraudulent activity.

Agree with handling through your credit card company.

  • Fraudulant in app spend..... help

So just got several emails with invoices from itunes for in app purchases on an app my stupid 12 yr old daughter downloaded ages ago to get more instagram followers.  She removed the app weeks ago and I put restrictions on her phone to prevent her downloading apps, deleting apps or making in app purchases and yet today $70 worth of in app purchases have gone onto my account.  I've reported it on the support page but I'm concerned that more charges could go through in the meantime.  Is there anyway to totally BLOCK this app developer from continuing this fraudulent activity?
I read the reviews on this app and quite a number of people have reported that their account was hacked and money spent on it, so gotta wonder why this sort of thing wasn't flagged to itunes anyway.  Also begs the question why my daughter was so dumb but I think the confiscation of her phone and the embarrassing post on her instagram account to her thousands of followers declaring what a complete ******* she's been is pretty good punishment.....  for now!

  • Very fed up with Verizon Wireless customer service, wanting to cancel?

Let me start by saying I've had Verizon since it was Bell Atlantic Mobile.  As a current customer I have 7 phones and a hotspot, my monthly billing is somewhere in the neighborhood of $600 a month, my service has never been turned off for non payment.  I know in today's wireless this doesn't make me a special customer, if anything just a good customer to have if you are lucky enough to have me.
I only call into Verizon customer service when I need something.  Not want, not to complain, only need something.  Lets give some examples.  I received a $3,000 bill in the mail that had a ton of international LD charges on it.  So I call into Verizon because me nor my wife knows anyone in the Caribbean.  Not one to jump to judgement I politely called my wife first and asked if maybe she had a pool boy that went home to S. America that she was keeping in touch with, she assured me that she did not so then I called VZW.  It ended up being fraudulent activity that I spent a good deal of a day or so ensuring they were going to credit it off, and to VZ credit they did.  As annoying as that it, I understand that it happens.  Lets rewind to my previous phone call a month before this happen.
I added my wife to my plan, and my rate actually remained the same with the new plan (we won't complained that obviously that means I was over-billed for maybe two to three years if I can add a line and the rate is the same) so I was happy.  What I wasn't happy about was when I added her onto my plan I saw my upgrade date had been moved from 22 mo (which is what I agreed too, signed for, and used too) to the full 24 mo.  Calling into VZ customer service I just wanted what was fair, the ability to upgrade at 22 mo.  After being told no, hung up on by a supervisor (accidentally I'm sure) while they "researched" my current, 7 line $500 a mo account, and then calling in a finally getting someone who gave a rip, they told me I would manually be allowed to upgrade but I would just have to call into customer service and not go into a store.  To me this was fair, but again a good hour wasted trying to receive what I deemed fair to myself.
So, ff to after the $3k bill, which occurred after seeing my upgrade date changed, while my pregnant wife is out, and I'm at work I attempt to call her and I receive a fast busy on my cell.  I message her, same thing.  I log into my online account to see if I have forgotten to pay the bill and its paid, however I see my two devices has been changed from my i phones to some old Samsung phones.  Unfrigginbelievable.  Some one, some how, has swapped my phones with someone else phones.  Once again I check with my other lines to see if something happened accidentally, I was almost sure one of my sisters (one of the 7 lines) had went into a store and screwed up the account.  I called both (I own an ATT iphone as well) and neither has changed anything.  I then called VZ from my ATT phone and ask them WTH happened?  Being a former telecommunications rep I ask all the relevant questions (can you give me a location id where the change was made?  Was it online or a store? etc), after being blamed of changing it myself, I finally got my original phones turned back on for my wife and I.  However I then address the obvious with the representative, "honey your customer accounts are being hacked, and it's serious, I've been hit twice in three months."  Knowing this rep is on the bottom rung, will probably mention it to her supervisor who won't do anything about it, I also forward a suspicious text to VZ fraud dept as well.  While on the phone Im assure this won't happen again and for "safety and security" we changed my verification password.
So lets count, we have my account hacked once and my phones swapped, we have my numbers hacked and used for LD calls to the tune of $3k, and we have me adding a line and seeing my upgrade date has changed.  This is from July to DEC 2013
FF to 2014 Jan, my father is concern about his hotspot usage and would like to know why he keeps coming close to usage.  After explaining to my dad he shouldn't be using his ipad to view anything on NFLX he assures me he is not.  So I call in to verify what line is using up all the data usage on the account, when asked to verify my code, you know that code we assuredly had changed a few months earlier, Im told I need to go into a store and show ID.  Not sure about everyone else but I don't really like near a corporate VZ store, and secondly I can verify my SS, address on both accounts, all MTN's, when the phones were activated etc.  Yeah I just don't have the verification code that you guys supposedly changed after I requested a specific code since my account has been HACKED 2x in 6 mo.  Oh yeah, ALL I WANT IS USAGE ON MY ACCOUNT to see who's hogging the data.  Sigh.  After reasoning with the representative (and threatening to take the day off to escalate this up to the call center director if I need to so I can find out who is using up the most data) he gives me this information, and finally corrects my pass code.  I apologized to the rep because I know he's just doing his job, but at this point every time I need something simple from VZ it's an act of congress.
So lets go to what is the final straw for me, my wife and I welcomed our first child into the world on Feb 7th.  On the day we took him home it was raining pretty bad and her phone dropped and basically became water damage, once I had time to call in I was simply going to upgrade my line (remember that promise to upgrade manually if I call customer service) and switch my phone to hers.  Well I call in an after not finding the note (on hold 15 mins, then once the nice young lady came on line she had me on hold for maybe another 5, and her advising me of all she couldn't do), they finally locate the note that I am allowed to upgrade and bill my phone to my account EXCEPT an iphone.  Not to sound like a pretentious apple whore but everything I use is aapl.  Two laptops, one desktop, 3 iphones, 2 ipads, 2 ipods and a partridge in a iphone tree.  Yeah Im that guy.  At this point I tell her (VZ customer service rep) of my last 6 mo. with VZ and at this point, Im beyond frustrated.  My wife needs a phone and Im supposedly allowed to upgrade yet again VZ is telling me what they can't do.  Im not asking for a free phone, I just wanted to pay for a 64gb, iphone 5s, and switch my existing phone over to my wife number.
I ask the representative to just take ownership of this, I cannot spend hours on the phone with VZ every time I call in.  At this point I wanted one of two things, either allow me to upgrade my phone line or just zero out the contracts on these two lines and allow me to leave.  I have been more than patient and understanding with VZ.  At this point I believe any rational objective person can agree,  VZ and I need to break up at this point. Even the representative is in a bit of disbelief, she assures me she or someone will call me last night.
Well now it's today.  Ball is in your court VZ.  Im a good day away from buying the domain, www.VerizonETFclassaction.com, tweeting it at you, making it a comment page until some ambulance chasing attorney decides to make it a class action case.  I couldn't care less about the money as much as Im demanding FAIR customer service to customers like myself that dealing with your nonchalant bullying.  So I ask you, what do you think is fair at this point?  Contact me directly.  Thanks.

Well that's several minutes of my life reading this long post that I'll never get back....
I'll explain somethings to you. 1...This is not a direct message board to a vzw rep or higher who will read your post. 2. Yes, although things that happened to you are unfortunate, YOU have to take ownership of your account. Verizon does not babysit accounts. 3. Also due to high cases of fraud vzw does not allow I phones to billed to consumer (and possibly business) accounts. I never understood why cell phone carriers allowed phones to be billed to the account anyway. If you want or need the phone that bad pay for it like any other customer. If you can't do that and want to "break up" over it, be my guest. However any lines still under contract will be subject to a valid etf owed by yourself. 4. It was well publicized that upgrade dates would be changed going forward from date of said announcement. This was in bill notifications and print media. It's not Verizon fault that you may not receive a paper bill however if you log in your account you can regular see notifications.
congrats on the baby, sorry for the wet phone (again not a vzw issue)
    See a pattern here?

  • My account was hacked in September -- Still no action from Verizon. Please help!

My account was hacked in September, someone added an additional line and ordered an iPhone, adding more than $600 to my account. Verizon quickly identified this as fraud and assured me that my account would be cleaned up. Almost three months later, I still have hundreds of dollars billed to my account that no customer service rep has been able to explain. My service is now pending disconnection, even though I have continued to make my regular payments, but I have refused to pay the additional charges incurred by the hacking of my account. I've spent more than two work days on the phone with Verizon, speaking to about three dozen agents and supervisors, explaining my situation all over again, taking valuable time off work and away from the family. They all promised to help, but nobody actually fixes this mess that I did not cause. Ten days ago, I wrote a letter to customer service which I will post below. I have not heard back from Verizon. No one has called to apologize or offered help in restoring my account. As a cellular customer of 16 years, I have never experienced something like that. I simply don't know who to talk to anymore to get this straightened out. No customer deserves to be treated like this. Please help me find out who I can contact with the authority to clean this up for me! Many thanks in advance.
Here is the letter sent to Verizon with signature confirmation Monday a week ago. I does not detail today's trouble, when I spent another 90 minutes on the phone with three different agents and one supervisor, but I got disconnected every time.
    Dear ladies and gentlemen,
I am writing this as a customer complaint. My family has been a loyal Verizon Wireless customer since August 2011, after making the change from T-Mobile. We currently have the 15GB Everything Plan with five lines, all of which are used by family members. Since July, we are also customers with Verizon FIOS for our home internet and cable, which means we pay Verizon an average of $5,600 annually.
My wife is the primary account holder and I have an EDGE plan for my own line. In September, I ordered a new iPhone through my local Verizon store in XXXXX., which is, as far as I know, an independent store with a Verizon license/franchise. When I picked up my phone, the agent at the store noticed that my account was in “chaotic standing.” First, he said that we had been advised badly by Verizon when we initially signed up in 2011, resulting in much higher monthly fees than we could have had under the 10 or 15 GB Everything Plan, and he suggested that we switch to this plan immediately.
It was frustrating to learn this, because in my two years of communicating with Verizon agents by phone, no one ever bothered to inform us that we paid more for our account than we had to and that there was a more compact plan available which would have decreased our monthly bill. My daughter exceeded her data allowance on an almost monthly basis, which we could have avoided under the plan that we currently have but didn’t know about.
Then I also learned that my current bill had suddenly skyrocketed to over $900 because a sixth line had been added to our account and someone had ordered a phone and charged it to our account. The local agent was extremely helpful, he immediately suggested that this was fraudulent activity and he called Verizon to restore my EDGE eligibility which I had lost due to these fraudulent charges that I had not caused and not paid. He did talk to the Verizon fraud department and reported the incident, and I was told that the additional charges would be taken off my account and my good credit – and EDGE eligibility – would be restored. In good faith that Verizon would take care of this, I left the store as a slightly worried, but satisfied customer.
About a week later, I called Verizon to check on my account status because I wanted to EDGE up my teenage son’s line XXXXXX and get him a new iPhone 6 for his birthday. The agent I spoke to told me that the fraud situation was still showing on my account and that my EDGE eligibility had not been restored yet, but he assured me that this would be taken care off by the following week, when my son’s line would be eligible for an EDGE upgrade under his plan’s timeline.
When I called back the following week, I was saddened to learn that contrary to the previous assurance, our EDGE eligibility had not been restored and the fraudulent charges to our account were still showing on our bill, which was quite confusing because it was impossible to figure out my actual charges. What followed was several weeks of phone correspondence with Verizon agents who apologized again and again and assured me that my EDGE eligibility would be restored so I could order my son’s phone and my the additional charges would be dropped from my account.
However, this didn’t happen. I am not going to list the entire call log, because I know that you can easily access these records. But for several weeks in October, I spent many, many hours on the phone with Verizon, explaining the entire situation regarding the fraud again and again. I listened to assurances, promises, apologies, and I was transferred multiple times to different departments to get my EDGE eligibility restored. After an incredibly frustrating and time consuming experience I was eventually able to order my son’s phone. But several days later, when I checked the order status, I noticed that the order had been canceled because – I’m sure you can guess it by now – my EDGE eligibility had still not been restored. This forced me to go through the whole process again and I spent an entire afternoon on the phone with several different agents and managers until in the early evening I was finally assured that my account standing had been restored and that I could order my son’s phone. That day alone, I had to leave work five hours early to get on the phone (from about 2 p.m. until 7 p.m.) and work this situation out so my son could get his phone, which he eventually received on Oct. 31.
I work as a newspaper reporter and I have an incredibly busy schedule. Yet the inability and unwillingness by Verizon to help me straighten out my account took much of my work time, which I had to make up for at a later time in order to get paid. Unfortunately, this meant that I had to take out much of my highly valued family time to talk to Verizon, which increased my frustration with your company, as you surely can understand.
As a loyal customer, I can’t stress enough how incredibly frustrating this experience was. I was forced to spend many hours away from work and family just to deal with the same situation over and over again. I lost track of the hours, but I am sure that one look at your call log will confirm that adding up these hours it was more than two full work days that I had to spend on the phone to work out a situation that I did not cause to begin with. Adding to these already incredibly upsetting circumstances were at least a couple of calls where it took me 15 minutes to get an agent on the line who then promised me to transfer me to the right person to help me, only, after more waiting time on hold, to be disconnected and start the process all over again. How I was able to maintain my composure and continue to be polite and respectful to the agents, I don’t know. I’m sure they are used to much harsher treatment from other unsatisfied customer for much lesser reasons.
It is bad enough that a company like Verizon cannot protect their customers from getting their accounts hacked and hundreds of dollars being charged to their account. But what is even worse is that I have to spend hours and hours of valuable time and energy to mitigate a situation and fix a damage that I have not caused in the first place and had no control over, and Verizon has not offered me anything to reward my patience and loyalty other than brief apologies from stressed out agents that obviously were not qualified to handle such situation, resulting in their own frustration with this issue.
What adds to this extremely frustrating and highly disappointing experience is that because of the hacking and the fraudulent charges that polluted my account for many weeks, it has become impossible for me to understand what I am being charged for and what I actually owe for the services that I did order and did receive. This frustration once again peaked on Saturday last week, when an agent told me that my past-due charges are more than $600, with a total of more than $900 total due within three weeks, ( that is about the same what Verizon charged me after my account had been hacked and an additional line and phone had been ordered by the perpetrator) in spite of my continuing “blind” payments towards my balance since this all began in September.
I talked to two agents on Saturday, one from Customer Service; the other from the billing department, and neither was able to explain – or even seemed to understand themselves – how these charges occurred. In good faith, and in order to avoid a disruption of service, I still made a $170 payment, which is about half of what my total monthly payment should be under my current plan with five lines, and I vowed to pay another $170 by the end of next week in the hope that by then, someone with authority and complete and full understanding of these circumstances will have contacted me to explain my account and issue a sincere, well meant apology for what has happened to this loyal customer.
Believe me, I rarely reach out to a company and complain like this. I have a busy and hectic schedule, but the time it took me to write even this long letter to Verizon was just a fraction of the time and energy that I wasted to restore my account and get my son his new iPhone on time for his birthday, which he was looking forward to very much.
But after my experience with Verizon, I feel that Verizon should know that no loyal customer deserves this type of treatment and should ever have to go through what my family and I had to endure because of Verizon’s inability to protect the privacy and integrity of our account, and to restore it to its original standing.
I left T-Mobile in 2011 after a total of 13 years as a loyal customer, because I was unhappy with their increasingly bad customer service. I came to Verizon in the hope that my family would have a better experience here, and we were ready to stay with the company for many years to come. But at the moment, we are regretting and reconsidering our choice. Our final decision will certainly depend on the final outcome of this incredibly frustrating situation.
Believe me, I absolutely understand that fraud and the breach of customer account information occur even in the best and most professional companies. But I also believe that if this happens, the integrity and professionalism of a business must be judged based on their handling of such instances and how they treat customers who fall victim to such criminal practices without any wrong doing on their part.
A company should do their best to not only fix the damage and try to make sure that this will not happen again, but also guide and support their loyal customers affected by this and provide them with enough information to understand what is going on. Most importantly, it should be Verizon, not the customer, who should carry the burden and the responsibility of such fraud. But unfortunately, Verizon Wireless has fallen short in this regard, as we were completely left alone and forced to fight for the full restoration of our account and to this day are confused about our bill and these sky-high charges that no one can explain to us.
On top of that, I am tired of having to explain this situation dozens of times to different people with your company over and over again. No one should have to go through that, and I believe that your personnel has enough pressing business to deal with than to waste their and their customers time.
Please understand that I am not complaining about the services by the more than a dozen individual agents that I talked to in order to sort out this mess. The vast majority of them have been polite and a couple honestly tried to go out of their way to help me. It is rather the way that your customer service is set up in total that reeks of failure to support and help a customer whose account had been hacked and scrambled beyond recognition.
That’s why it is my hope that my reaching out to you will raise a red flag at the right places within your company to identify the failures in your service, work the problem and fix it so other loyal customers like me will be spared such hassle in the future. I think it wouldn’t be too far fetched to assume that we are not the only ones and last ones to fall victim to hacking and failing customer protection and service as a result.
Of course I also sincerely hope that my complaint will finally set the wheels in motion to remedy the problems in our own case.  We believe that the very least that Verizon could do as a sign of good will and to honor our customer loyalty to is sweep clean our account and allow us to start from scratch so we can track and understand our future monthly charges and continue to make reliable payments to our account as we have done for more than two years until the hacking of our account and Verizon’s unprofessional and helpless handling of the situation has changed everything.
I hope that someone within your company will take this complaint seriously and resolve this very unfortunate and frustrating situation in a manner that shows that we are valued and respected as the loyal customers that we (still) consider ourselves and that will help us restore our faith and trust in Verizon.
I am looking forward to your timely response.

I'm confident that if you have spoken with our Fraud Team directly, that there are the proper wheels in motion to resolve all of the concerns that occured as a result of the fraudulant order on your account. It may take up to 2 bill cycles for all the adjustments to be applied and the changes made to your account to bring the dates and eligibility back to normal, so you should definitely be nearing the end of your wait. Based on your description, it may have been a while since you spoke with them directly instead of the customer service team, so I encourage you to give them a call at your earliest convenience to put your worries at ease. If you need to make arrangements for the charges that appear on your account, our Financial Services Team at 866-266-1445 will also be able to help possibly place a hold on the account regarding the disputed charges so there's no accidental inturruption in your service due to this unfortunate situation.

  • I am locked out of my account and can't use my Best Buy points

    Hi,
I am an Elite Plus customer and really upset with Best Buy as they decided to lock me out of my account due to an audit and I can't use in inspite of having $2000 in my account that I bank. I called Best Buy 3 days ago after receiving an email that my account had been updated and they decidid to do an audit and lock my account without informing me. I keep getting "check in 24hrs" message since 3 days and it doesn't let me issues certificates. I found out after calling Reward Zone that my account was updated as I was re-enrolled in the Elite Plus program. I keep getting a response from Reward Zone that corporate is auditing my account for fraudulent activity. While I appreciate that, I don't expect them to shut me off my account for more than 3 days when I need to purchased items using my $2000 worth of banked points. This is RIDICULOUS and noone from Reward Zone wants to take ownership of this issue. I just spoke to the manager named Kenya Case ID: {edited per forum guidelines} and all she did was directed me to the website and asked me to email corporate. This is complete NONSENSE and expect a professional company like Best Buy to figure out their processes and not shut out customers from their program without informing them. I am hoping that someone from the right department can pick this up and resolve this issue as I need to purchase items this weekend and am sick of seeing the "check back in 24 hrs" error.
I am a loyal customer of Best Buy but things like this makes me reconsider my decision of buying things from Best Buy again.

Good afternoon VJ, and thank you for your patience,
I would like to discuss your My Best Buy™ account with you, so I will be sending you a private message.  To check your private messages, please make sure you are logged into the forum and click on the yellow envelope icon located at the top of the screen.

  • Disgust and Exasperation with BT "Customer Service...

I am posting this here as really a final attempt to see if anything helpful will actually be done by BT, but I think also as more of a warning to others, as I truly have ben a “victim” of their so called customer service.
To make clear, I don’t really use my landline, the only reason that I even have a landline is for my broadband which I get from another supplier, as I need this for work, it is rather essential, so when there is a problem with the line it causes me great stress as it threatens my ability to work and make money and pay bills etc. Generally the only time I use the phone is if I have to call a free phone number or a number which is chargeable from a mobile.
Over a year ago now, back in July 2011, I had just finished dealing with someone from BT’s head office as I had been forced to go there due to surprise surprise BT not adequately dealing with a complaint, that time due to charges on my bill for calls I hadn’t made. The man I was speaking to, fixed all the problem, re-set up my quarterly direct debits and said if there were ever any issues again to come straight back to him.
Cut to the end of August this year. I happened to pick up the phone to try and call a free phone number when I discovered that the phone could not make outgoing calls. At this point I have had NO communication with BT of ANY kind, calls, emails, texts or letters. Since dealing with their head office the previous year. When I eventually get through to someone, Im informed that the line has been restricted due to non payment of the bill. I asked if there has been a problem with the most recent payment or has a payment bounced and I am informed that in fact BT haven’t taken a payment in a year!!!!! I ask how this is possible, and also how has no one from BT got in contact with me about it, I mean they are supposed to be a Communications company, yet they seem to be severely lacking in communication, as the only reason I knew there was a problem was that I happened to pick up my phone. After speaking to around 3 different people in one of BT’s non English as a first language speaking call centres, various promises of a  callback which funnily enough never happened, and god knows how much cost on my mobile phone bill, I finally managed to speak to a manager to try and figure out what had happened and how we could get this fixed.
I was told by the Manager that they honestly had no idea how firstly they weren’t taking direct debit payments, and secondly how this could have been allowed to run for a year without BT really contacting me about it or even taking any action like restricting the line after the first time they didn’t take a direct debit. I was informed that the balance of the account was over £400. I made the point and the manager agreed that asking a customer to make that kind of payment in one go with no warning, particularly in these circumstances was unacceptable and a solution had to be reached. I said I was happy to pay it off in installments or work something out that way, and the manager also said they would need to check as perhaps some of the bill may have even been supposed to be covered as compensation for part of the previous complaint and due to an oversight may have caused the rest of the year to go untouched, as otherwise she wasn’t really sure how this could have occurred. The Manger then told me that she was going to go away and thoroughly investigate this and speak to the person who had originally set up my direct debit to see if there was any issue there. She told me that she would be looking into this and would then come back to me with the answers to how this happened and also a solution to paying it off. Also while she was looking into this she would restore my line fully, as this was obviously a larger problem at BT’s end. This seemed to be a fair agreement and I told her I looked forward to hearing back from them when they had it sorted out and we could get this cleared up. How foolish I was.
Cut to the end of last month, I had family members in New York and New Jersey on holiday at the time of the hurricane hitting there. One night I picked up the phone to try and get in touch with them to make sure they were okay and I discovered that once again my line had been restricted for outgoing calls. To be clear here, the last time I had any contact with BT was when speaking to the manager at the end of August as described above. As you can imagine, having my line suddenly restricted and considering the circumstances I was particularly angry. I called in the next day, and despite asking what was going on and what had happened to the investigation into my account, instead all I got was a wall of “The account has been restricted due to non payment”. I would respond, yes I get that, but BT were supposed to be resolving the matter and coming back to me with a way to pay off the balance. Again the only response I would be given was “The account has been restricted due to non payment”. No other information, just that statement. I asked to speak to a  manager and was promised a callback from one. It never materialized. I called back in gain, asking for someone to call me about this as I wanted to get it resolved, was promised one but again never received one.
Then last Monday, the  12th of November, I finally called in AGAIN at my expense, and spoke to someone who actually seemed to understand the term “Customer Service”. She took the time to look at the notes, saw that I was supposed to have been called about this but that no one had, and that in fact no one had even bothered to look into my account or even do anything with it. In fact I believe I was told that no one had even accessed my account since the last time I spoke with BT, back in August. I asked her if it should really be this hard for me to set up some sort of payment plan, I mean Im asking a company to let me give them money but they don’t seem to be interested. She apologized and said that she was going to personally pass this to her manager, that she would fully investigate the matter, sort it out and come back to me with the solution so we could resolve the matter and put it to bed. She gave me her word that her manager would be calling me within 48 hours. And guess what? That’s right, I never received any call whatsoever.
So Wednesday this week, 2 days ago, I call back into BT, to ask why this manager hasn’t called me back as promised and what exactly is going on. At this point I get more of the stonewall “The account has been restricted due to non payment”. However also at this point get told that my line is going to be terminated fully this coming Saturday. Again I will point out that no one from BT had communicated this to me in any way, no warning, no letter, text, email or call, from this global telecommunications company. However I am then informed that someone had called and spoke to me the previous Saturday, had given me this information and I had “agreed” with it. I informed the agent that this hadn’t happened, no one from BT had spoke to me on Saturday, and certainly not at the time of 11:30am as it was noted on my account, as I had been out the previous night and had only got in at 8am Saturday morning and went straight to sleep. This didn’t seem to bother them or they just didn’t care as now all that I could get from anyone was “The account has been restricted due to non payment and we are cancelling it on Saturday”. No offer of sorting out to get it paid, no explanation as to what had gone on or why no one had done anything, just  a set response that felt like I was talking to a computer with only one programmed response. I was also informed that my account had now been ring-fenced by a particular department and only they would deal with it and they had no interest in my complaints or issues, they only cared about the bill in full and if not paid then it would be cut of Friday. I pointed out that I had not been given any notification of their action of any kind. The response verbatim I was given was,
“We don’t have to inform you if we are going to restrict or cancel your account, we can just do it”
Also they didn’t seem to care about the fact that someone in their company had blatantly lied and put information on my account saying they had spoke to me about this to inform me of it and I had agreed with it!!!!!! So fraudulent activity by BT and they don’t even seem to care. I asked for the details of the person who had left this note as I wished to complain, but was simply brushed a way with
“Oh we wont give that to you, we will just take care of it internally, you don’t need to worry about it”
I don’t need to worry about false information being put on my account???? I think BT doesn’t really have an understanding of what concerns the average customer, as someone falsifying information on their account is kind of a HUGE deal. At this point I had tried several times by phone and email to contact the person who had dealt with my account last year and had set up the supposed direct debit but surprise surprise, they never responded to one of my attempts, not even a polite message to say they had received it or that someone else might be dealing with it, nothing, not a peep.
At the end of the day with my head ready to explode I finally managed to get a number for a manager in BT’s head office. I called their office line and got to speak to them. I explained the above and they were very sympathetic and apologized, and agreed that the way it had been handled was wrong, and asking someone to pay £400+ without any notification and also when they had previously told me they would be sorting out a payment plan was unacceptable. He then told me he would be passing my information to an executive level complaints operative and that they would call me back the very next day to discuss the problem and get it resolved. Again I pointed out that I didn’t think it would be this much hassle for a person who is trying to set up payments to get it sorted. I then left this call, feeling a lot better as it seemed I was finally going to get this sorted.
However, the next day not only did I not receive a call, but instead I got an email from the person who the matter had been passed to, which simply said, ‘We haven’t had a payment in a year, the direct debits haven’t been taken, we have now sent you duplicate bills so you have a copy of them and you have been informed that the account will cease on Saturday (conveniently leaving out the fact that I was only informed of this the day previously). That was it. I called and left 2 voicemails and responded by email saying that could she please call me as her email has not in any way dealt with any of my issues or even tried to resolve this, and being as one of my biggest issues was that for 3 months I have been constantly calling BT and not one person has been bothered to call me, and the response to my speaking tp a manager at BT’s head office was for her to send me an email that as far as she was concerned I might not even get due to current restrictions on the line. I never received any call from her that day.
That evening I managed to get back in touch with the person from the head office I had spoken to the previous day. I expressed my exasperation that with a major issue where one of the main problems is BT’s seeming inability to call me back when promised, the person who as supposed to be looking into this hadn’t even bothered to call me to find out the issues and what the complaint details were!!!!! I was again promised that he would get her to call me first thing Friday. She did, I spoke with her about an hour ago, and from the fact that I have felt compelled to write this should tell you exactly how helpful she was.
When I answered the phone, the first thing she said to me was, “The only reason for this call is merely a courtesy, it doesn’t matter what you say or what has happened it will not effect the decision to terminate your line tomorrow” If that doesn’t just sum up the entire BT experience for the average customer Im not sure what could. Not only that but she claimed that BT had tried to contact me numerous times in regards to this yet mysteriously could not provide me with a single precise date of any of these supposed communications. I was called a “liar” as she said that I must have noticed that the quarterly direct debits hadn’t come out. This is despite the fact that the entire point of a direct debit is that you don’t have to check it, it just pays it, its how I pay my rent, gas, electricity, broadband, mobile phone and I assumed my phone line. Also if there has ever been an issue, the company involved is usually very quick and good about getting in touch, as its money you owe them/ Not BT though it seems. I said that all I’ve been wanting to do for the last 3 months is get something set up to pay this off. However I’m told that they wont do that that they NEVER allow payment plans (a blatant lie)and that even though I’ve only had 2 days notice and even then nothing in writing, they don’t have to inform me anyway, they can just do what they want.
I tried to point out the effect this would have, I even made it clear that I was perfectly happy that while I was making payments to clear the debt that they could keep the line restricted, but at least still active as otherwise I cant work, I cant make money, I cant pay my rent, I lose my flat, I cant afford to buy food and in essence it royally messes up my life. The response was that they didn’t care and unless the full amount is paid then tough.
However the most disgusting, Blatant and downright underhanded moment (and bear in mind at this point Ive been openly called a liar) came, when I brought up the fact that there is false information on my account, that someone had lied and put fraudulent information on my account. Her response, and I still have trouble accepting this was
“Well I don’t think one of our agents would do that, so Im not even going to look into it”.
Despite the fact that she could confirm that there was no call in under 5 minutes she refused to check it. I asked her to go get the call recording as there wouldn’t be one, and if she wasn’t going to help with my account at least please fix this, someone in BT has put false info on my account and you can check this yourself, it will take you no time, just confirm it. She however again refused to even look into it as she didn’t “THINK” that someone would do that. She also refused to go and listen to or check the calls I had back in August with the manager who had promised to sort out a payment plan and investigate, she refused to check or listen to the call from last Monday where an agent had confirmed that the previous manager was supposed to have done this but hadn’t done anything with it. She refused to do anything in any way that might mean she would have to change the position she had come on the phone to me with and had made clear she didn’t want to change. So in essence this person who is supposed to be trained in customer service and conplaint resolution, didn’t even bother her backside to speak to the customer making a complaint to find out the issues, just decided to check a  few notes, not pay any real attention and sho a complete lack of respect to me. I mean she openly accused me of being a liar on the call and in the same breath refused to go and check if one of BT’s agents had lied themselves about calling me and me “agreeing” to all this. Funny, I was sure one of BT’s slogans was “Its good to talk”
So here I am, Im told my account will be terminated tomorrow and it seems that no one at BT cares, or even wants to solve the problem. Also they don’t care that this is going to have a massive effect on me and my life, without my internet access I cant work, and if I cant do that then I lose my livelihood, my home, the food on my plate and everything I have. Oh and look, just in time for Christmas. I have been asking for 3 months to get this paid off in a sensible way and for 3 months I have been assured they would take care of it, then fobbed off nad forgotten about. And now BT have made it abundantly clear that they really have no interest or concern for their customers in any way.
I write this in the vain hope that someone might be able to help me here, however being as there is less than 12 hours till Saturday I doubt it.  I think to be honest its more so that other people are aware of just how shockingly bad BT’s service really is, and that watch yourselves and not only will they lie, abuse, insult and cause you great trauma, but that they will also refuse to accept any responsibility for their words, their action, their promises, and especially their mistakes and faults, as as far as they are concerned they don’t make any, and wont even look into seeing if they have. Truly a company that doesn’t care

Its quarterly billing, and on direct debit, so the whole point there is it takes care of itself.
It aso didnt hurt that as I said, I had no communication from BT in that year, no calls, emails, texts, letters nothing. They sent me no letter to say that there had been a missed payment, they took no action due to this, still something at this point that no one has been able to explain how that happened. Also the direct debit was set up by someon from their executive level complaints deaprtment, so you would think it would work ok. But apparantly 3 months later they didnt take a payment, and kept not taking payments or getting in touch with me about it, they just did notning. Then after a year, again without any warning or notification restricted my line, which as it turnds out was an automatic process, no one had any clue about what had been going on. Hence why the first manager I spoke to about it said she was going to have to investigate how this happened and obviously work out a repaymnt package. Though as par for the course from that point on I never received a callback from BT at any point, I called them often enough, but they never could be bothered it seemed to get back in touch.
Also my bills arent exaclty large, as I say the only reason I even have a landline is for my internet access for work so its not as if its a huge amount and its every 3 months so not something really on your radar. Again thats the point of DD and what you assume is a professional and capapble company.

  • Very disappointed in Verizon Wireless customer service

I have been a Verizon customer for about 10 years.  The customer service is now the worst it has ever been.  I have an upgrade due and i wish to bill my account.  They say I cannot because my account was past due ONE time in the past six months. Past due for probably around 10 days.  They say this is the reason why.  When I point out to them that this is not their policy they do not care,  they refuse to let me bill it.  Their policy on their own FAQ clearly states:
What determines if I’m eligible for the bill to account option?
The following requirements are used to determine bill to account eligibility:
You must have a standard monthly account* for at least six months.
The maximum amount that can be billed to an account per bill cycle is $400, and the transaction can’t exceed this limit for your current bill cycle.
Note: The limit includes pending and recent transactions billed to your account by phone, online or in-store during your current bill cycle, For example, if you purchased a $100 item in-store and billed it to your account earlier in your bill cycle, your online bill to account transaction can’t exceed $300.
Your account must maintain a good payment history. (YES)
The account can’t have been interrupted for non-payment within the last six months. (IT HAS NOT BEEN)
The account can’t be more than $24.99 past due. (IT IS NOT)
The account must be permitted to make payments online. (IT IS)
Your account can’t currently have a security deposit. (I DO NOT)
The phones on your account can’t be interrupted for suspected fraudulent activity. (NOPE)
You must be the Account Owner or an Account Manager in My Verizon and process your transaction from the Upgrade Device page.
No where does it state what they have told me.  I have a good payment history, I have not been interrupted, I owe no money.  As far as
I am concerned I qualify just fine but they refuse.
At this point its the princible of it, Would I like to upgrade?  Sure!  But I wont, just based on the fact that I should be able to bill
it to my account and they refuse.
My contract is up in November,  I will cancel and i will go to another carrier because basically the customer service and their
refusal to abide by their policy and correct this has completely turned me off.

The good payment history, as Ann154 states, means payment on time monthly. Instead of voiding a customer's "good payment history" for a late payment six years ago, for example, they instead limit it to the past six months. And the six months to wait for good payment history to be restored begins on the day the late payment was made. I stupidly (now after a lot of research) installed lion over my main drive, and now my mac is running funny, safari is different, I cannot load my security and privacy preferences pane (and having fraudulant activity on my visa so extremely worried with this one) and other things, generally I just do not like it and wish to go back to snow leopard.  I do not have a time machine but will purchase an external hard drive if someone can verify it will save all my programmes eg microsoft word and ps 5 (which were given to me so cannot reinstall from a disk) and I can reinstall them on snow leopard.  Iv found the only way I can reinstall leopard is to wipe everything - like when I first brought this mac, so this information is critical.  copying all my files, photos etc is fine, but all the year I have spent getting extra programs is the thing Im worried about the most!!

Because you cannot downgrade from Lion without first erasing the drive, then you must make a backup of your files and plan to reinstall your third-party software.
    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.
