Free SQL query tool

Hi there,
Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a free sql querying only tool that will allow users to run a sql query script and will save the output on a file on thier PC ?
Thanks,
Daniel

that will allow users to run a sql query script and will save the output on a file on thier PC ?If you're looking for a multi-database tool, take a look at SquirrelSQL - a java tool
that will connect to any db with a JDBC driver. It also has plugins for specific
databases incl. Oracle - I've been impressed. Open Source under the LGPL.
[Edit]
Just checked, and SquirrelSQL will do just what you want. .csv .xls and .xml
Another note, if you're only using Oracle, then SQLdeveloper is hard to beat!

  • The best SQL query tool to visualize data relationship

Bay Breeze Software just released SQL Edge 1.4, please refer to http://www.baybreezesoft.com for product details.
SQL Edge is an Eclipse Rich Client application that allows users to execute SQL queries, browse schema information in ER diagrams, and visualize data relationships. With SQL Edge™, users can use only one query to retrieve data in a master table, and then browse data in all related detail tables. Users can also insert, edit, and delete table records in the data grids.
SQL Edge™ has five perspectives. The "Query Perspective" allows users run any SQL queries, while the "Schema Perspective" displays table schema information.
There are two relationship perspectives. The "Relationship Table View" displays data in the master-detail style. The "Relationship Tree View" displays master table records as top-level tree nodes. The nodes can be expanded to reveal any level of related detail records. In addition, clicking any node will display the corresponding data in a detail grid.
The "Model Perspective" displays tables and their relationships in ER diagrams. The tables can be from different databases. Users can define master-detail relationships among these tables, and print or save the diagram for future reference.
The version 1.4 added following features:
    (1) Added support for synonyms and CLOB data type.
    (2) Added load on demand feature to support large result sets. In query perspective and relationship table view, a selection query will only fetch enough rows to populate the data grids. Users can scroll down the grids to fetch more rows if needed.
The version 1.3 added following features:
    (1) Added model perspective to display tables and their relationships in ER diagrams. The tables can be from different databases. Users can define master-detail relationships among these tables, and print or save the diagram for future reference.
    The version 1.2 features are:
    (1) Support any JDBC compatible databases.
    (2) Allow users to specify JDBC drivers at run-time, and provide wizards to help setup JDBC connections. Easy to install, and easy to setup.
    (3) SQL editor with syntax highlighting based on currently connected databases.
    (4) SQL edtior allows users to execute SQL queries asynchronously. Users can cancel the execution by click the "Cancel" button or just close the SQL Editor.
    (5) Schema perspective displays the table schema information, including column definitions, primary key, indexes, and foreign keys.
    (6) Relationship table view displays the related data in the master-detail style, with master table data shown in the top grid, and all related detail table data in a list of bottom grids.
    (7) Relationship tree view displays the master table records as top-level tree nodes, and the related detail records as child nodes. Click any of these tree nodes will display the corresponding record data in a detail grid.
    (8) Allow users to insert, edit, and delete records in the master and detail grids of the relationship table view and relationship tree view.
    (9) Allow users to define master-detail relationships even between tables in different databases. This enables the relationship table view and relationship tree view to display data relationships between tables in different databases or without pre-defined foreign keys.

Good to know. Thank you for the information.

  • Tool for visually building an SQL query?

    Hello,
Can anybody recommend a good tool that allows building an Oracle SQL query through a visual interface (similar to MS Access query builder)?
I checked Oracle SQL Developer (from Oracle) but apparently it only allows building SELECT queries visually, I need to be able to create UPDATE and INSERT statements as well...
    Thank you,
    M.R.

I'm not very clear on what you want or what you are trying to 'simulate'.
If you are looking for a way to "build a gui" that allows you to simultaneously modify multiple rows of data in a table:
This sounds like a "tabular form" in Oracle APEX (which is free with all editions of Oracle including the free XE edition. )
URL for the out-of-the-box sample "application" that demonstrates a Tabular Form for modifying the EMP table:
    https://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=71793:4
    name/password:  demo/demo
Feel free to sign up for a free account to play with it.

  • A brand new query tool is out on beta, we need feedback, so you get a free copy

We at Nob Hill Software are working on a new query tool:
    http://www.nobhillsoft.com/MarieAlix.aspx?HeardVia=ptut
You can read all about it on the above web page, but basically, its a very ambitious project to create what we call 'the query tool to end all query tools': everything you ever wanted, desired, dreamed about in a query tool, and then some.
For that, we need people who will download it, use it, tell us what they think, what's good and what's not, and what they would like to see in the future. This program has been going on since winter 2009, and so far we've made plenty of DB users happy - but we could always use more feedback. No catches, no tricks, we will never ask for money or anything - just to know what you want, so we can put it in. When the tool is finally out on production, all those who contributed will have it for free - for life.
If you're interested, just download and start working. Then email us your feedback, which can be anything from a single sentence to entire pages.
Contact us through the site if you have any questions!
    Thank You
    Nob Hill Software

You at Knob Hill software are spammers.
Rude people posting in violation of the Terms of Service agreement you signed when you got your right to post in this forum.
Why do you think any of us would want to do business with a company that demonstrates a profound lack of professionalism
and a lack of respect for those of us that use these forums?
    Something to think about eh?
An apology would be the appropriate thing for your next, and last, post.

  • Need tool/utility to get list of tables from sql query

    Hi,
I often have to analyze huge queries without having access to database. Is there any tool where I can submit the a sql query and it gives me list of tables used in the query.  I also need similar thing for documentation.
Let me know if anybody uses anything like this.
    Thanks.

You can find the size of each table, and thus list the tables in the process.
    SET NOCOUNT ON
    DBCC UPDATEUSAGE(0)

    EXEC sp_spaceused
-- Table row counts and sizes.

  • Free PL/SQL developer tool

Can I have some advise on what would be the best free PL/SQL developer tools available?

http://www.toadsoft.com/lic_agree.html - it runs under Windows only, but is
    slick.
You could also look at Pl/Sql Developer from www.allroundautomations.com,You could also check out
    http://sqlworksheet.googlepages.com/
    and
    http://www.sqltools-plusplus.org:7676/
    and
    http://www.sqltools.net/ (appears to be deceased!)
    Happy hunting.
Of course, Tom Kyte would argue that the best (and indeed only) PL/SQL
developer tool that one should use is totally free and unhindered by overcomplicated
graphical interfaces or RAM-gobbling features and overhead, its name - SQLPlus!!!*

  • How to enable show SQL Query in Crystal report tool

    Hi,
How can we enable the show SQL Query under Database tab in crystal report...
We have a requirement to modify the SQL query in Crystal reports.
    Thanks,
    Gana

    Gana,
CR has an "Add Command" feature that will allow you to use hand-coded SQL as your data source.
Look at Defining an SQL Command in CR's online help (F1).
If a command was used in the original report creation, it's a simple matter to go in and edit that SQL.
If the report was not originally built w/ a Command you may find it difficult to switch over. In most cases it easier to start over from scratch, creating a new, blank report, that uses the command.

  • Newbie - need help with a SQL query for a bar chart

    Hi,
I'm a new user on APEX with no real SQL knowledge and I'm trying to build a dashboard with charts into an existing APEX application. Based on another application, I have come up with the following SQL code:
    select null link
    , CATEGORY label
    , count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'1',PROJECT_ID))"Active"
    , count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'2',PROJECT_ID))"Complete"
    , count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'3',PROJECT_ID))"On Hold"
    , count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'4',PROJECT_ID))"Pipeline"
    , count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'5',PROJECT_ID))"Pending Review"
    from GRAPO_PROHEADTRK
    where (PROJECT_STATUS='1' or PROJECT_STATUS='2' or PROJECT_STATUS='3' or PROJECT_STATUS='4' or PROJECT_STATUS='5' or PROJECT_STATUS='6')
    group by CATEGORY
    Order by COUNT(PROJECT_ID) DESC
The code from the other app was:
    select null link
    , FUNCTIONAL_AREA label
    , count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'Active',PROJECT_ID))"Active"
    , count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'Complete',PROJECT_ID))"Complete"
    , count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'On Hold',PROJECT_ID)) "On Hold"
    , count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'Recurring',PROJECT_ID))"Recurring"
    , count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'Pipeline',PROJECT_ID))"Pipeline"
    , count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'Not Approved',PROJECT_ID))"Not Approved"
    from PM_V2
    where LOB='S2S' and (FUNCTIONAL_AREA='Accounts Payable' or FUNCTIONAL_AREA='Expense' or FUNCTIONAL_AREA='Procurement' or FUNCTIONAL_AREA='Fixed Assets')
    group by FUNCTIONAL_AREA
    Order by COUNT(PROJECT_ID) DESC
I'm getting a "Failed to parse SQL query!" error when I try to run validation.
Is this enough info for some assistance? Any help would really be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rachel

    Hello,
This is more of an SQL question, rather than specifically APEX-related. It's notable that you say: I'm a new user on APEX with no real SQL knowledgeWhich is fine (we all have to start somewhere, afterall) but it might be worth de-coupling the problem from APEX in the first instance. I'd also strongly recommend either taking a course, reading a book (e.g. http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=r5vbGgz7TFsC&printsec=frontcover&dq=Mastering+Oracle+SQL&hl=en#v=onepage&q=Mastering%20Oracle%20SQL&f=false) or looking for a basic SQL tutorial - it will save you a whole lot of heartache, I promise you. Search the oracle forums for the terms "Basic SQL Tutorial" and you should come up with a bunch of results.
Given that you've copied your query template from another, I would suggest ensuring that the actual query works first of all. Try running it in either:
    * SQL Editor
    * SQL*Plus
    * an IDE like SQL Developer (available free from the OTN: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/index.html ) or TOAD or similar.
You may find there are syntax errors associated with the query - it's difficult to tell without looking at your data model.
    select null link
    , CATEGORY label
    , count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'1',PROJECT_ID))"Active"
    , count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'2',PROJECT_ID))"Complete"
    , count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'3',PROJECT_ID))"On Hold"
    , count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'4',PROJECT_ID))"Pipeline"
    , count (decode(PROJECT_STATUS,'5',PROJECT_ID))"Pending Review"
    from GRAPO_PROHEADTRK
    where (PROJECT_STATUS='1' or PROJECT_STATUS='2' or PROJECT_STATUS='3' or PROJECT_STATUS='4' or PROJECT_STATUS='5' or PROJECT_STATUS='6')
group by CATEGORYNote that your "order by" clause references a field called "PROJECT_ID", which exists in the old query but you've changed other similar references to "PROJECT_STATUS" - is it possible you've just missed this one? The perils of copy-paste coding I'm afraid...

We just migrated to a new dev environment in Linux REDHAT5, and now the query is very slow, and I used the TOAD to run the query, it took like 700 msecond to finish, however from any server connection, the sql query takes hours to finish.
I checked toad monitor, it said need to increase db_buffer_cache and shared pool too small.
Also three red alert from toad is:
    1. Library Cache get hit ratio: Dynamic or unsharable sql
    2. Chained fetch ratio: PCT free too low for a table
    3. parse to execute ratio: HIgh parse to execute ratio.

As for the SQL query being slow. It is not.
You have not provided any evidence that it is slow. And no, comparing performance with a totally different system is not a valid baseline for comparison. (most cars have 4 wheels, a gearbox and a steering wheel - but that does not mean you can compare different cars like a VW Beetle with a VW Porsche)
What is slow? What are the biggest wait states for the SQL? What does the execution plan say?
You have not defined a problem - you identified a symptom called "+query is slow+". You need to diagnose the condition by determining exactly what the SQL qeury is doing in the database. (and please, do not use TOAD and similar tools in an attempt to do this - do it properly instead)

  • Free load test tool

    Hello all,
are there any free load testing tool for sql queryl ?? We have this sql that i want to change and use a parallel hint....so i wanted to load test...maybe 50 concurrent user executing that at the same time....and see how the performance is on the server ...are there any freeware tool for that or anything that i can do ?? i am on 10.2.0.3 (AIX)....

    I'm a bit confused.
Parallel query improves performance by allowing one session to use more of the database's resources than a single session could normally utilize. That makes it ideal for data warehouse environments where there are few concurrent users each running very resource intensive SQL statements. Parallel query is poorly suited, in general, for OLTP workloads because letting one session spawn multiple slave processes takes resources away from other sessions. If you really have 50 users simultaneously running a query, it should almost certainly not be parallelized. Even if each session creates only 2 slave processes, that's 100 simultaneous slave processes which probably overloads anything below, say, a 64-core box. Hopefully, your database is configured, in that case, to disable parallelism to avoid overloading the server. But if the database is configured to disable parallelism in that case, adding the PARALLEL hint will have no effect at high load.

could't control the save option. There is also TOAD freeware edition - limited but fine for a lot of stuff.
What's the matter with SQL*Plus? Of course SQL*Developer is free, but
it mightn't always be available - just see what Tom Kyte has to say about
this - SQL*Plus and vi is his environment of choice.
If your client machine's RAM is limited to < 1GB, then I wouldn't use
SQL Developer - it's a java app and really heavy on RAM... use TOAD
freeware for a low spec Windows machine, for Linux, use SQL*Plus.

    Hi,
Anybody aware of any free security testing tools for testing web apps developed on adf framework.
We need to test for all types of injections and other possible vulnerabilities.
    Thanks,
    Rohit

I think Junit tests the data for use cases which we give them ..yes you are right.
sorry i may misundertsood from you of previous post? sorry for that.
whereas I am looking for a tool which scans my code and looks out for vulnerabilities inside my code.I dont think that kind of tool may available. but if i found out. i will post it here.
if you found post here. it helpful for all.
I am not sure if Junit also does that ?yes absoultely.
For example if I have written a functions that creates dymanic SQL query :
    1. The tool should check it and let me know if there are any any possible SQL injections possible through the code.
    About SQL injections
kind note from an experts(john). go through out thread
    method holds some select clause
Is there any free tool available meeting such requirements in ADF framework.i think some experts will better comment on it. about his.
