from-action on glassfish

Hello,
I have an application developed in tomcat. Now I have to deploy it in glassfish. But I am getting an exception. The exception message suggests that
<from-action> is not valid for the xsd.
This is the starting tag of faces-config
<faces-config version="1.2" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee"
xmlns:xi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XInclude"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-facesconfig_1_2.xsd">
</faces-config>
How can I tackle this problem in glass-fish?

My guess is it's more of a complaint with the element order and not the element itself. Hard to say since the exception message wasn't included.

  • "Can't get Action from Action Reference"?

    I really can't figure out why I get java.lang.IllegalArgumentException with "Can't get Action from Action Reference: BeanName.actionName" message. I specified all properties in faces-config.xml. Bean and its action names are all checked several times, but I still get that exception. Is it a JSF bug, or my simple mistake? Is there anyone who experienced the same problem?
    I'm using two forms in one page. all components' ids are all different. Only one form generated the exception not regarding the order of the forms. (the one is login form and the other (which doesn't generate exception) is leave-comment form.)
    Here is the form code:
                   <h:form id="loginForm" formName="loginForm" >
                        Login >
                        <h:input_text id="loginUserName" valueRef="UserBean.userName">
                             <f:attribute name="style" value="width:64px;"/>
                        </h:input_text>
                        |
                        Password >
                        <h:input_secret id="loginPassword" valueRef="UserBean.password">
                             <f:attribute name="style" value="width:64px;"/>
                        </h:input_secret>
                        |
                        <h:command_button id="loginSubmit" label="login" commandName="loginSubmit" actionRef="UserBean.loginAction" />
                   </h:form>
    and here is managed-bean part:
    <managed-bean>
         <managed-bean-name>UserBean</manager-bean-name>
              <managed-bean-class>
                   net.gleamynode.notes.http.faces.UserBean

                   <property-name>password</property-name>
                   <null-value/>
              </managed-property>
         </managed-bean>
    Thanks in advance!

    here goes the source code of NotesBean:
    abstract class NotesBean {
         protected static final String SUCCESS = "success";
         protected static final String FAILURE = "failure";
         private String connectionProfile;
         protected NotesBean() {}
         public String getConnectionProfile() {
              return connectionProfile;
         public void setConnectionProfile(String newProfileName) {
              connectionProfile = newProfileName;
         public abstract Action getCreateAction();
         public abstract Action getDeleteAction();
         public abstract Action getUpdateAction();
         protected Connection getConnection() throws NotesException {
              ConnectionProfile profile = ConnectionProfileFactory.getProfile(connectionProfile);
              return DriverManager.getConnection(profile.getUrl(), profile.getProperties());
    }I think everything is ok with the beans, right?
    By the way: shouldnt the error message be:
    "Can't get Action from Action Reference: UserBean.loginAction"I just examplified the message using somewhat generic name. Sorry for confusion :)

  • How to populate form bean (Action form) from Action  (Struts)

    Hello to all..
    I have a problem populating a from bean in struts from Action class...
    What I would like is ..
    1. how can I populate a formbean from Action so when a page (JSP) with tags will be displayed some tags will be set and some no (depends on data from database)..
    example...
    look at the picture...
    http://freeweb.siol.net/peterv6i/ax1.jsp
    I have a AO2.jsp page linked to action2 and also i have a formbean with set/get methods...
    nex step.. when I call action2 I' retrive datas from my database and in Action class I would like to populate formbean which is from page AO3 (which will be displayed)..
    Is this possible? here is my code but work only for 1 user.. if there are 2 or more users on page I get internal server error (Exception)..
    this is my Action class
    public class Action2 extends Action
    public[b] ActionForward execute(ActionMapping mapping, ActionForm form,
    HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
    throws IOException, ServletException {
    System.out.println("Action2");
    session = request.getSession();
    if (session.isNew()) {
    response.sendRedirect("AO2.jsp");
    AO3formbean frm = new AO3formbean(); <-- this is formbean from page AO3.jsp which I like to populate
    frm.setName("xxxxxx");
    frm.setSurname("ekekelek");
    session.setAttribute("AO3formbean", frm); <-- here I put a formbean in session
    return mapping.findForward("success");
    then the AO3.jsp page will be called which use a AO3formbean... and here problems come... If only one user use the application all is ok.. but when two or more users use the same form with different session the page will not work well.. sometimes i get exception, sometimes white page.. sometimes nonsense datas are displayed..
    Anybody know if is possibile to populate a formbean and store it in session or I must change whole code?
    for example...
    In my form i must enter a car assicurance policy number... (page AO2.jsp)..
    then in the action form I must connect to my database and retrive information from table and populate bean which is also a formbean on the page AO3 which will be desplayed.. (if I'am doing something wrong please let me know the right way)
    best regards

  • Struts - Data pass from Action class to JSP

    hello ,
    I am new to struts and have a strange question in my mind .
    How do we pass business logic data from action class to JSP.Do we use session object or any other best way to be used to pass data.
    Example scenario:
    Once the user logins into application by passing userid and password ,we need to display his open queries (from database table) on jsp.
    Components used :
    Login.jsp
    LoginForm(getter and setter methods of userid & password)
    LoginAction(get database connection,perform query to fetch user's open queries form the database)
    OpenQueries.jsp(to display Open queries on a tabular format)
    In LoginAction - We fetched user's open Queries from the database and stored them in collection object .
    My question is : what is the best way to pass Collection object from LoginAction to OpenQueries.jsp ?
    Thanks in advance...

    You can use plain javabeans to transfer the data. Check out the jsp:usebean tag. If you don't know how to do, check out the Java EE tutorial: http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/ Using javabeans in JSP pages starts halfway chapter 4.

  • How to call javaScript function in the form from Action:Tab buttion in workspace

    Hi,
    I want to trigger JavaScript function that I have written in form from Action: buttons in workspace user's account.
    Is there any way that if i hit a button on action bar, it fire a javascript function.
    Reason is: I dont want to place button on the form to perform any action on the form. I want to take control of the form from these buttons. Like submit, edit a form, etc, etc..
    Please let me know if i couldnt explain it properly.

    Sunil, you want to look at the "Customizing the LiveCycle® Workspace ES User Interface" document at http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/customizeworkspaceui.pdf.  The workspace is a Flash component.  For ES4 there's an option to run the workspace in HTML5 which might be more productive long-term.

  • How to develop a Chart from Actions button of an Interactive Report ???????

    Hi
    I am trying to implement a chart from Actions button of an Interactive Report through frond end. I am getting the Flash Security error for this. I know we have to change the HOST variable for this. But i am not sure where exactly I do this. For a normal Flash Chart , i know that we have to do in the Region Source but for a chart from Interactive Report what do I do??????????
    Thanks
    Shruthi.

    Hi
    It seems you are using EPG.
    Replacing #HOST# works for flash charts which you create yourself but I don't think you can do it for the charts generated by Interactive Reports. To fix this issue you either need to update host variable of EPG or the best is to use Apex Listener.
    I would recommend you to use Apex Listener as it will avoid further issues if you use a Reverse Proxy with your Apex Server such as Lighttpd or Apache and use multiple Virtual Hosts etc.
    To install Apex Listener see http://download.oracle.com/otn/java/appexpress/1.1/docs/AELIG/E21058_01.pdf?AuthParam=1324310446_77b28dc5a93555586fc93c0c8804e8de
    You can use Stand Alone mode with Apex Listener as it is easy to very configure.

    Even in safe mode, Firefox 4b7 is not able to complete «More Answers from…» action on Formspring.me userpages, it just displays «loading more questions…» for a seemingly endless amount of time. (Firefox 3.6 and any other browser, such as Safari, displays «loading more questions…» for a short period of time when AJAX works, then the questions and answers are actually loaded and displayed.) In order to reproduce, load Firefox 4b7 in Safe Mode, visit www.formspring.me/krylov and click on «More Answers from Konstantin Krylov» (the bottom link). In my original BE post to which Tom so helpfully responded, I began:  It seems to me that DLM is an excellent concept with a highly flawed implementation, both technically and administratively.   I think that sending out an engineer to fix an obviously flawed profile is the main example of an adminastrative flaw.  I understand (I can't remember source, maybe Tom again) that they are sometimes relaxing the requirement for a visit before reset.
    Maybe the DLM system is too keen on stability vs speed.  This will keep complaints down from many people: most users won't notice speed too much as long as it is reasonable, but will be upset if their Skype calls and browsing are being interrupted too often.
    However, it does lead to complaints from people who notice the drops after an incidence (as in your thread that has drawn lots of interest), or who only get 50 instead of 60.  The main technical flaw is that DLM can so easily be confused by drops from loss of power, too much modem recycling, etc, and then takes so long to recover.

  • Multiple outcomes from action

    Hi,
    I have a scenario where the user enters his id on the start page and on clicking submit he should be forwarded to a verification page. But if the user id doesn't exist or if he is disabled, the start page should be displayed with a message.
    The problem I have is, it is always staying on the start page irrespective of the outcome.
    Here is the task flow definition.
    <control-flow-rule id="__11">

  • Forward from action directly to anther action

    Hi all,
    I have the following problem: I have a pageflow application for administering complex configuration. On the main page (where user is forwarded from begin action, begin action reads data from configuration and fills them into form bean and main page displays them) is link for editation of part of configuration, link references to editaction which fills formbean and forwards to form for partial editation. This form submits to saveaction which stores data, and forwards to begin action directly. And here is the problem, somewhere in the portal framework between invocation of saveaction and begin following error is written into log.
    25 X 2006 16:55:58,560 ERROR ArrayIndexToken [ExecuteThread: '13' for queue: 'default'][]: Could not update expression because a public field named "operation" or setter for the property "operation" could not be found.
    I think, that this is beause form data is submitted and handled by saveaction, but because than forward to begin happens, portal tries to to fill submitted form data into formbean of begin action as well, but this formbean is different one and doesn't have corresponding properties. Both formbeans are scoped to request.
    In this particular case it causes no other problem than logging aforementioned error, but in other cases when property names would accidentaly match it may cause some problems with data, so I consider this beaviour as dangerous and want to avoid it.
    So my question is, how to forward from action to action without passing form data which were already handled by first action?

    The problem what I would like to solve is the following:
    I have some information stored on a DB. Depending of these information I would like to show different information on a jsp page with the help of jsf. (This jsp file is reached already with the help of navigation rules of jsf technology)
    An action bean class is instantiated already when the generation of my jsp file started and the information are stored on this object in member variables. There is a boolean variable among these stored information and if the value of it is true, then I would like to send the user "automatically" to another jsp file (using the navigation rules of jsf).
    If I would not use jsf, then I would do something like the following:
    I would store the value of the boolean variable into the session, and I would use a jstl "if " tag to ask the value of this variable and when it would be true then I would use a <jsp:forward...> to send the user to the next page.
    My problem is I can not solve this with the jsf navigation rules?
    If I try to do something similar with jsf than #{myClass.newPage} is not accepted by jsp:forward tag of course, but I do not know a solution instead of it in jsf.
    Is exist a solution in jsf for it?
    If not, how can I create a similar sequence?

  • From-action

    I understand from-outcome, but is from-action not outdated in the beta? I thought "Action-Klasses" are gone....
    <!--
    The "from-action" element contains an action reference expression
    that must have been executed (by the default ActionListener for handling
    application level events) in order to select this navigation rule. If
    not specified, this rule will be relevant no matter which action reference
    was executed (or if no action reference was executed).
    This value must be of type "Action".
    -->
    <!ELEMENT from-action (#PCDATA)>

    The "Action" API is indeed gone, but the concept is still useful. Consider a submit button coded like this:
      <h:command_button ... action="#{mybean.submit}"/>You can define navigation rules that only pay attention to the outcome returned by this action method, by including the following in your navigation case:
      <from-action>#{mybean.submit}</from-action>Craig McClanahan

  • How to populate page drop-down list in Struts from action?

    I have following mockup JSP:
    <td colspan="2" height="28"> <font size="2">
            <html:select property="sj">
               <html:option value="allj">aaa,1,str1</html:option>
             </html:select>
                        </font>
                      </td>
    ...Struts action will prepare results as String[] array e.g.:
    aaa,1,str1
    aaa,2,str2
    aaa1,1,str3
    aaa1,b,str4
    and I have to show this in the page as a drop-down list of values that are represented in this String[] array returned from Struts action.
    Should action return result array in original ActionForm submitted to the action by this page or should it just put the array into request or session? I need an example if possible
    Many thanks,

    Hi,
    In ur Action Class create aa ArrayList of LabelValueBean Object (use import org.apache.struts.util.LabelValueBean; )
    Eg:
    ArrayList myList  = new ArrayList();
    for( int i=0; i<10 ; i++ )
       myList.add( new LabelValueBean(  "Label of  "+ i , " value of " +i  ) );
    }put myList either in request or session
    eg
    session.setAttribute(  "DisplayList", myList  );****************************************************************
    in JSP use JSTL Tags for JSP
    eg
    <html-el:select property="listToDisplay"  style="width=200" size="1">
    <html-el:option value="-1">--Select One--</html-el:option>
    <html-el:options collection="DisplayList" property="value" labelProperty="label" />
    </html-el:select>Here "DisplayList" will be ref'ed from session scope or request scope.
    Hope this can solve ur Doubt.
    Ganesh
