From CME to BE 7k CUCM 10.x

Hello,
We have 240 licenses for Cisco Call Manager Express. We are planning upgrade to CUCM 10.x with BE7k hardware. Is any option to upgrade CME licenses to CUCM licenses? Is any SKU for this?
Thanks,
Oleg

Hi Oleg,
Not that much confident .I was going through Ordering guide of CME 9.1 which says
http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/unified-communications/unified-communications-manager-express/cme_ordering_guide.pdf
Customers migrating from Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express to Cisco Unified Communications Manager 5.0 or later require a Cisco Unified Communications Manager device license upgrade for the number of phone user licenses purchased. The customer should collect proof of ownership for each Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express IP phone user license (SW- CCME-UL-79xx) purchased and provide this information plus the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Publisher MAC address to [email protected] Customers will receive a licensing file to add to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager with the same number of device points.
If soemone has more clarity, can provide more info.

  • I can call from Branch through Gatekeeper to CUCM. But cannot call from CUCM through Gatekeeper to any Branche.

    Hello All,
I can Call from any Branch office to CUCM through Gatekeeper. But I cannot call from CUCM through Gatekeeper to any Branch.
    My CUCM version is 9.1.2
    Regards
    Bahlul

Do you see anything shw up on the debugs on the branch router?
Check debug h225 asn1 to see if there is a setup coming from the CUCM. If not, that means the CUCM is not receiving the IP address of the branch gateway from the GK. This could mean a config issue on the GK with respect to the branch gateways, or on the UCM.
Take debug gatekeeper main 10 from the gatekeeper. These debugs will show what's happening on the GK while processing the incoming ARQ from CUCM.
Also please upload the config of the GK, branch gateway here.

  • Changing LDAP System from AD to ADAM in CUCM 7.1.5

    Hello Guys,
First time poster here, so be gentle...
We have a query regarding LDAP Synchronisation in CUCM 7.1.5.
    A brief background :
Our CUCM environment has expanded since we first put it in a couple of years ago. We originally had, and continue to have, a single LDAP System configured on CUCM for only one of our AD forests.
We have a multi-forest AD environment, with us rolling out more and more CUCM enabled sites from our differing AD forests.
    1 x CUCM 7.1.5 Pub (+ 2 x Subs)
    1 x Presence
    1 x MP
    1 x UCCX
    1 x Unity Connection
    3 x Unity
We are building an AD LDS (ADAM) server to enable our multi-forest integration and LDAP synchronisation from CUCM. This is built based of this Cisco doco :
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_configuration_example09186a0080b2b103.shtml
    Our question :
Changing the CUCM LDAP System (and thus also changing the LDAP Directory and Authentication)
    From : "Microsoft Active Directory"
To : "Microsoft Acive Directory Application Mode" (ADAM)
AND : After running the first CUCM sync with the new ADAM server.
What impact will this have on the existing user accounts in CUCM (in terms of their Associated Devices and their Permissions Groups and Roles)?
Will they be overwritten and thus the above fields be blank? Leaving us having to manually add all that back in to our existing user base.
Or, (which we feel is most likely), will there be duplicate accounts created in CUCM?
The reason we feel there will be duplicates is due to the nature of multi-forest deployments and the issue of having the same usernames in two or more forests. All authentication requests must be performed using their User Principal Name (UPN), such as [email protected], rather than the standard way of just using your userid : jdoe
Sorry for the long winded query.
    Appreciate any thoughts/opinions on this.
    Cheers,
    Rick.

    Rick,
I haven't done this myself, so keep that in mind. As you say, be gentle.
Putting ADAM aside for the moment, in an LDAP sync configuration when you establish a sync agreement the CUCM does the following:
    1. All user objects in the CUCM db are marked inactive
    2. CUCM begins sync'ng with LDAP
    3. For each user object learned from LDAP: The LDAP attribute chosen to map to the user ID in CUCM is compared to existing CUCM user objects.
    - If a match is found, the account is activated
    - attributes for first name, last name, telephoneNumber, etc. are then overwritten with the LDAP values (based on attribute mappings)
    4. After the sync completes, any CUCM user object that did not have a LDAP object with the same user ID are still marked inactive. These objects will be purged during the next clean up interval
To give an example, I had a project where the customer was doing an upgrade from 4.1 to 7.1(3). As part of the upgrade, user objects were moved over to CUCM 7.1(3). Then we enabled LDAP sync. User objects were not deleted, nor were there duplicates. Configurations such as device associations were unaffected. The only thing we needed to do was check the CUCM user DB against LDAP user objects (running scripts against both) to find any mismatches between sAMAccountName and the CUCM user ID.
Assuming the sync process and behavior for activating/deactivating accounts is the same with an ADAM integration, then I wouldn't expect you to have an issue.
    HTH.
    Regards,
    Bill

  • Upgrade from CCM 4.2 to CUCM 7.1

Is it doable to upgrade Cisco Call Manager 4.2 to Cisco Unified Communication Manager 7.1 ?

    Hi there,
Yes, 4.2(3) would be the minimum required version
DMA for Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 4.x
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/compat/ccmcompmatr.html#wp57424
    DMA release Notes
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/prod_release_notes_list.html
Data Migration Assistant (DMA) Release 7.1(3) collects application data from Unified CM Releases 4.1(3), 4.2(3), and 4.3(2) system for upgrade to Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 7.1(3). DMA exports data in the current Window based system (with SQL server database) that later gets imported to the appliance-based system (with Informix database).
    Cheers!

  • Extract Call Detail Record from CME

    Hi,
How can I extract the CDR from a CME, if i don't have a CVM. I wanna use it with a mySQL Database.
    Thank you.

    Thanks for the plug, David.
I'm the author of qqCDR. It is capable of pulling from CallManager, but not CME (unless there is a SQL interface that I don't know of - somebody emailed me asking just this question, I'm looking into a way to possibly code a solution around CME once I get a little more info. The last I knew, CME could only spit out CDR to syslog, for later parsing. Has this changed?

  • No ringback when calling a cellphone from CME

I have CME running on a 3845 router with the latest CME code and correct IOS.
When a user dials out to a cell phone they do not hear any ringback but are able to connect to the cell phone and voice call proceeds fine. The VoIP user just never hears any ringback.
Is there a bug or something that Telco has to fix?
    Seth

No, this site is using all BRI.

  • Remove mailbox only from cuc when user is cucm imported

    Hi,
Can you remove the mailbox from CUC when the user was imported from CUCM?
    or alternatively,
Can you "migrate/change" users from being cucm imported users to just plain normal created CUC users?
We need the ability to remove the users from CUC only, but that currently also removes the user from CUCM!
    cheers
    Sascha
    CUC[M] 8.5

Are you looking at just removing the Imported from CUCM tag? Or converting CUCM imported users to Unity Connection users?
    You can't remove the tag.
To convert the users, I'm not sure about the API but you can do it from Unity Connection itself,
    Option 1:
Use the BAT tool. Export Users with mailbox. Update the CSV file. Look for the ccmid column. You'll find a string value. Replace the string value with %null%. Save and update users with mailbox using BAT.
    Option 2:
Run this query on the CLI. (Replace Anirudh with the alias of the user you want to convert),
run cuc dbquery unitydirdb update tbl_user set ccmid =' ' where  objectid= (select objectid from vw_user  where alias='Anirudh')
Note: This converts CUCM imported users to Standalone Unity Connection users. You cannot sync the users with CUCM anymore.
    HTH,
    Anirudh

  • Outbound Dial-Peer from CME to UC540 not working

    Dear Experts,
We have a HQ UC560 and new branch with 2811 router. These sites connected via VPN using fortigate. The connectivity between the sites is up and we are able to ping both the sites and the voice networks successfully.
I have configured the dial-peers on both the sites. The calls from HQ to the local branch are successful without any problem but when we dial from branch to the HQ, we get a fast busy signal. Below is the dial peer config

  • CME - can not dail PSTN (out going calls )

    hello ,
i have CME installed on 2900 router , incomming calls are working fine but i can dial PSTN calls.
below error is comming in Debug:
Outgoing call from gateway: gives diconnect cause value = 34 no circuit

    Hi Aslam,
1.Could you please explain the complete network topology and please upload the debugs that you collected with the called and the calling number. Also attach the relevant controller config, serial interface config, dial-peer etc to analyze.
2.Cause value 34 implies that there is a mismatch in channel mapping either on your end or the provider's end.
3.So we need to check if we are sending this error message or if we are receiving this error message.
If we are receiving this error message, then provider needs to correct the channel mapping on their end.
4.If we are using H323 then try to change the isdn channel order using this command on gateway
"isdn bchan-number-order" as well as try changing the channel order from under the gateway on CUCM, if we have a CUCM in the network topology.
5.Make sure we have configured only those channels that we are allowed to inside a Controller for pri group command.

  • Cisco Mobile 8.0 For CME 8.6 : Verification Timed Out

    Hi Guys,
    Good day!
Anyone tried to implement Cisco Mobile on CME?
I have followed some guide lines from other forums such as:
     http://www.ccierants.com/2011/05/finally-cisco-mobile-81-supports-cme-86.html
But I encounter some problems -> Verification Timed Out
Attached is the logs from CME router.
    Thank you.

Have you restarted the "Cisco CallManager" service?  Do you have IP address configured under CUCM > System > Servers?
    Thanks!

  • CME External Directory

Our customer has a Unified CM cluster and a few Call Manager Express and he needs that ip phones registered in the CME could consult the Call Manager corporate directory. I´ve configured all steps described in the chapter "Configuring Directory Services" in the "Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express System Administrator Guide"  but when I press the Directory button, there isn´t any option to search coportate directory. I´ve configured the same url in telephony-service as in the Call Manager and I've add the ip phones in the Call Manager. I´m missing something?

Did you ever get an answer on this? I'm running into the same problem but what I have figured out is that if your CME phones have registered to CUCM at least once EVER then the directory will work. There is some sort of switch that gets flipped in the phone once it has registered to CUCM and the directory will always work after that, regardless of CUCM/CME/whatever.
This is the URL I am using in CME- pointing to the CUCM Directory URL from Enterprise Manager.
    url directories http://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:8080/ccmcip/xmldirectory.jsp
I've been running through various scenarios and it seems like the behavior change happens after xmldefault.cnf.xml is loaded from the CUCM.
I'd appreciate the input from any Cisco IP Phone SME's out there. I have the xmldefault.cnf.xml from CME and CUCM and while they are different I can't find any obvious reason for the behavior.

  • TFTP server other then CUCM !

    Hi all.
In case of CME or CUCM, where both of them are required to generate phone specific xmls for manually added phones, is it possible to define windows/linux system as tftp server to serve these files ?
If yes, how the files shall be copied from CME/CUCM to that tftp server ?

    Hi John
Yes, it's possible. But as you've pointed out, keeping an external TFTP server up to date with config files and all the other stuff (ring files, moh files, firmware loads etc) is not trivial.
In later versions of CUCM the phone loads support a 'load' server. You can put the TFTP load files (which are more static that config files) on their and have the phones download firmware from there, but config from CUCM.
The bottom line is that (at least in my opinion) it's generally not a great idea. Let CUCM or CME do it; they're perfectly capable, and if you have a CUCM system that is big enough to warrant it, you can have a CUCM as a dedicated TFTP server.
    Regards
    Aaron
