Frustrated 1000%

I was using photoshop elements 12 for several days with no problems then everything went wonky with my brush and cursor displays. My eraser became a point rather than a variable diameter circle, my eyedropper for selecting color became a small circle with a point in the center. I went into preferences for cursor displays but no matter what I selected the wrong cursor displayed. I thought I had a virus or something and checked my machine but found nothing. I uninstalled photoshop and reinstalled but the condition persisted. I'm new to this program but for god sakes it shouldn't be this problematic and difficult to set up something as simple as the correct tool display. I'm frustrated right now to the nth degree and feel like chucking this useless piece of software into the garbage. Anybody out there having a similar experiance to what I'm going through? Maybe someone out there can help me with this absolutly crazy issue because I can't seem to call up the correct tools to do the photo editing that I need to.

Part of the power of PSE, which can be both a blessing and a curse depending on circumstances, is the vast number of shortcut keys. Unless you're entering text onto an image or into an options box there is a high likelihood that pressing any key may take you somewhere you didn't expect.

  • Really frustrating update failures. Slowed down my PC by 1000 times

Hello, I've been using windows 8 from its beta days. But after upgrading to windows 8.1, every major update seems to fail. I've also looked into the history and tried installing them manually but it fails after the stage "copying packages to the windows
update package". And if this isn't bad enough, my laptop takes about 20-25 minutes to shut down. It keeps showing "preparing updates, please don't turn off your computer".
I am getting really frustrated since there is nothing I can do about this. And this doesn't seem to be the first time, it happens every time there is a major update.
Also after this update failures, i seem to have other issues such as
Wifi stops working after 5 minutes of youtube streaming
chrome crashes more often than ever
performance in general has been absolutely awful
None of these happened before. Also I do not have any viruses or malwares.
    Currently failed updates.
    KB2887595
    KB2919355
Should i just downgrade back to windows 7? Or is there a permanent solution to this problem.
Also when I install the update manually, the error says "The system cannot find the path specified"

    Hi,
Are there any error code? please also check Windows\logs\cbs for the detailed information.
for KB 2919255, this is a known update , we call it Windows 8.1 update 1, you can refer to this link ans see if it can help you
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-8/install-latest-update-windows-8-1
You can also clear the software distribution folder, then install the updates again.
At the Command Prompt type the following commands one at a time:
    net stop wuauserv   hit enter
    net stop bits     hit enter
Now browse to the C:\Windows\Software Distribution folder and delete all the files and folders inside.
    net start wuauserv     hit enter
    net start bits    hit enter
Meanwhile, keep your windows uo to date before installing the two updates. KB 2919442 is the prerequisite to install KB 2919355

  • HT3775 Isn't Quicktime the most annoying media player? Seriously, more than 1000 dlls in each of my two macs and neither of them can play my avi videos with this, so frustrated... Am I the only one?

The thing is, I cant play my avi videos in Quicktime because it ask me for some codec, not saying which one in specific... I have a Macbook air mid 2011 and a macbook pro and same issue, I'm using better VLC to play videos, but why the native apple software cant play my content which, by the way, windows 7 devices plays without issues. Maybe this question is not enough to open a new post, but somehow we need to make noise, is not possible that we left apple being so unrespectful with us after all the money we expend in their products... What do you think?

AVI was invented by Microsoft over twenty years ago. They abandoned it in favor of more modern WMP formats.
As you've found out not all AVI's work the same way on different OS's or devices. VLC can play many more formats (out of the box) than the standard QuickTime Player but a bit of searching will lead you to components that assit QuickTime.

  • My Verizon Frustration (to put it mildly).  Read if you live in AK

Began when I ordered an iPhone 4 on August 13.  I needed to upgrade because I had an old phone and moved to Alaska, where Verizon was not established (I was on roaming).  Thought Verizon was a good enough company to stick with. Two and half years later, or August 13, my old phone finally had it and I called to get a new one.  The sales person said I could get an iPhone with my upgrade for 99 cents.  And she said could activate it up here because Verizon had towers in Anchorage where I live.
Wrong. I got the phone and it would not do anything, Had to call on my old phone and talk to tech support who said the incompetent salesperson had forgot to enter my new iPhone in the system.  But they would correct it and they would shut off my old phone and then I could activate it.
Wrong. They shut off my old phone, and the new one would not activate.  I was now phone-less.  I had go onto Verizon online to "chat" with another tech person, who after 25 minutes of research told me I could not activate an iPhone 4 in Anchorage.  She told me to send it to the lower 48 and have a friend/family member activate and send it back.  Yeah...a Verizon employee told me to inconvenience family or friends and pay for shipping to correct a mistake they made.  I suggest to her that I send it to Seattle (nearest Verizon store) and they reimburse shipping and they activate it.  She had to check and make sure this was okay.  It was.  I shipped it to the store and received it back a few days later and it was supposed to be activated.
Wrong.  Only the phone was activated, the data was not, no internet or pictures or visual voicemail.  Had to call and talk to another tech person who said they would put an order in to have the towers checked because that was probably the problem.  I got a text the next day that said my problem was fixed.
Wrong.  It was not. Called Verizon again and asked to talk to a supervisor.  They transferred me to a girl who sounded like she had no clue what was going on, I mean not even on a basic level.  I asked her if she was a supervisor and she said no.  Asked again to speak to a supervisor and they transferred me to one in North Carolina.  Guess what he discovered?  The incompetent person at the Verizon store in WA never activated my data.
Had to send the iPhone out again to get activated to the same store…I shipped it September 5th, tracking receipts show it arrived September 6 at 1000 am.  I still do not have it back.  I called the store using a co-workers phone on my lunch break on the 11th and told them I needed them to fix it and send it back (they said they were very busy).  The supervisor in North Carolina said the WA store fixed it on the 12th (probably after I called and told them to) and they should be shipping it out soon. I emailed the supervisor in NC and asked him to check and get a tracking number a couple days ago.  Still no phone and no idea when I will receive it.
So, since purchasing my iPhone, I have paid for one month’s worth of data I never got to use and to date…15 days of phone service I cannot use. And I have been without a phone for a total of 15 days.
And every time I have to borrow a friends AT&T phone to make a call, I get to tell them this story.
I have illustrated this story for a couple of reasons.
    1. Yes I have saved it and I am going to send it to the highest level supervisor I possibly can.
    2. To possibly save you the frustration of this experience.
    Thank you

I finally received my iPhone 4 back yesterday.  They overnight delivered it after I called the store for the 9th time (literally, the 9th) and told them I was out of patience.  I asked for a supervisor to call me back (on my friends phone) but that never happened.  I will not go into anymore details about how negative this experience was because I have already put so much effort and time into it that it's ridiculous.
I also have been a Verizon customer for more than six years and had never encountered an issue like this.  I am a patient person and a pretty easy-going customer.  But this was such a bad experience I'm looking forward to my contract ending so I can go to another phone company.  Besides, I can't say I'm too comfortable with how Verizon handled the NSA probing for consumer information.
If you are considering buying anything from Verizon, like any other wireless retailer, they will do an outstanding job of selling things to you.  And in general, their coverage is good.  After you become a customer, you will take a backseat to anyone wanting to buy stuff (in all fairness, again, this is like most retailers).  If you live in Alaska, go with a local company like AT&T because right now, you are not even on Verizon's map (literally, if you put in an AK zip-code on their site it will not recognize it).  And, as I have learned, if you are already a Verizon customer when you get here your experience may be frustrating.
When seeking out a supervisor at Verizon, here is what I have learned:  They do not always transfer you to one when you request it, so make sure if they do that you are actually talking to a supervisor (get a name and title).  They all seem to operate independently, in other words, if a supervisor tells you they will "reach-out" to another employee and ensure they solve the problem- make sure you as a customer follow-up on it.  Sometimes you have to do the job yourself and call the employee and instruct them as a customer to do the job...several times (pretty disturbing if you think about it).  From my experience, supervisors do not follow-up on instructions they presumably give co-workers or employees and they do not ensure the tasks get done (they may not be able to, in some companies "supervisor" is a powerless title, or a title handed out for a variety of reasons not always related to ability to do the job).
Well I hope this helps anyone seeking info regarding Verizon service, especially in AK.
    Thank you for reading.

  • Frustrated with Apple Service and Apple Store... Lemon Law?

    Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone has had an experience like this before, and if so, how they resolved it? Also, does anyone have any sort of customer service phone number (not tech support), where I could reach a supervisor, or someone who deals with issues like this on a regular basis?
Let me start from the beginning, and give a quick run-down of my problems.
*First let me say that the first Apple Store I went to is almost two hours away from where I live, and the second store is just about two hours.*
I bought a 17" Macbook Pro (Unibody, 2.8ghz, 4GB, 500GB, antiglare display, etc.), in September of 2009. I had problems from the beginning, originally some problems with both the wireless card, and a general slowness of the machine, combined with a cosmetic defect in the screen. I made an appointment at the Apple Store. At the first appointment, they said they had to order a new display assembly to fix the cosmetic defect. So I drove home, got a call a few days later that the part was in. I called a few days later to say I wouldn't be down for another few weeks, and could they please hold the part for me. I was assured that they would. I drove down about a week and a half later, and was told the part was sent back; apparently the message the gentleman I spoke with on the phone had not gotten passed along adequately. I was a little miffed, but figured accidents do happen, so I'd give the benefit of the doubt.
When I returned to get the display put on, I reiterated the wireless issues I was having (the wireless signal strength was spotty, while my 3 yr old Macbook had perfect strength sitting in the same location [yes, I both alternated which one was on, to make sure there was no interference, as well as had them both on at once]). I was told that because they could not reproduce it there, they couldn't really do much. I also reminded them that the machine was still slow, and they recommended an OS re-install. They then took the machine in back and replaced the display assembly. When they brought it out a while later, the new display had the same problem. I mentioned this, and she said that all the ones that were in back seemed to have the same problem, so there's not much they could do at the store.
I went down again a few months later to let them know that the OS re-install hadn't helped, and that I really couldn't keep driving two hours each way to not get anything fixed. They apologized profusely, and said they could mail the machine to their depot center, where it would be repaired and mailed back to the store, upon which they'd mail it to me. They also ran some tests at this appointment, and discovered that the processor heatsink may be failing. They made a note, and sent it out. I got a call a week later from the technician at the depot location, quizzing me on the exact problems I was having, and spoke to him for almost twenty minutes while waiting for a doctors appointment. (We'd played phone tag for a few rounds before we finally spoke to each other). I described everything as best I could without having the machine in front of me, but I felt that I was a little ridiculed by the technician. The attitude I sensed was "our tests didn't find any hardware failures, so you must be wrong, or lying." He didn't use those words of course, but he didn't exactly hide it too well either. As I was called into my doctors appointment, (so had to hang up) I asked him over the phone to please do as many tests as possible, and use the machine if necessary to reproduce the effects. He said he'd try, and hung up. I received the machine a week later or so, with a sheet listing what had been done. The list reads:
    Labor charge
    Flat rate repair charge
Obviously, I wasn't actually charged for either of them, but absent a more detailed list of what they'd done, the only difference I could detect was that they finally replaced the defective display with a non-defective part.
After another month or so, I returned to the store to let them know I was still having problems, and to get advice. They told me that they'd have to reproduce the issue there in order to do anything. They proceeded to reproduce the issue, and told me that a CLEAN install should do the trick. I did a clean install, and copied things back on very slowly, a few things at a time. The problem persisted even before I'd put much back on.
About a month later, I made an appointment with the other Apple Store (I have two, both about two hours away), and took it down. They reproduced the issue, and said it could be due to a faulty hard drive. They took it in back and replaced the hard drive. I was a little unhappy how many appointments it had taken, but was hopeful that it had finally been fixed.
I got a survey in my email about my satisfaction with my last appointment, so I filled it out honestly: that I had been extremely frustrated and disappointed, but I hoped that the fix that was finally provided would be successful. I was contacted the next day by the Head Genius at the most recent Apple Store I'd visited. She was very nice, and spent some time quizzing me on approximate times of hangups and delays. I told her that it did seem like the problems were still there, but I wanted some more time to verify the specifics, and that they had in fact persisted through the HDD replacement, and that I'd call her back if they persisted.
After very carefully copying things back on (yet again), I realized that it still wasn't fixed. The slow opening of programs had been sped up considerably, but the actual running of the programs was slower than ever, rendering Aperture 3 nearly unusable. Almost every adjustment (and all brush adjustments) will result in a complete system hangup. The few times it occurred to me to open activity monitor BEFORE opening Aperture, I was able to nab a few screen shots using a mouse shortcut I programmed. They show sometimes Aperture uses up to 170% of the processor (!?!), and almost always over 100 when this happens. Other occasions, it's Finder that's eating it up. I ended up with 14 screenshots of about 7 or 8 separate incidents. (Each time, I had to force quit the program, and restart the computer. At NO point was any other program running besides Finder and Aperture 3).
I called her back about three weeks after the last call, and explained that the problems were still happening. She was very nice again, and quizzed me about the problems, and durations of delays and hangups. She said that she'd order a few parts that it could be, and if I brought it down, they'd keep it there until they fixed it. I explained that after six trips of two hours and 90 miles, I'd put a lot of time, energy, lost work, and gas money and tolls into this computer, only to have it still not be fixed. I told her I wasn't sure that I would be able to come down again, and asked if there was any other way we could arrange this, or any other available options. She was very nice, but asserted that this was the only option.
Today, I went down again, and explained to them that I really can't come down again. After $150+ in gas and tolls, plus 28 hours of driving, plus lost wages, I just couldn't do that any more. They were very friendly, and kept telling me they really wanted to help me, but theres not much they could do as far as me not having to come down and pick it up again. A few minutes later, we were discussing the specific issues, and it was actually working for once, and they said that they couldn't replace it without verifying the issue, because Apple would throw a fit. (Understandably). This combined with overheard conversation, and other snippets of things said directly to me, led me to believe that if the issue could be reproduced, the computer would be replaced, and I wouldn't have to drive down again.
A few minutes later, after showing them the screenshots taken previously, we reproduced the issue. Aperture caused a system hang bad enough to prevent showing the dock, quitting, or force quitting (including the keyboard shortcut). I then told them that I had to leave in ten minutes (My sister had a birthday party starting at noon, and they needed adult supervision by that time). They talked for a few minutes and after continually assuring me there was no way around me driving down again to pick it up, told me that they would mail me a box, I could mail it back to the store, and then once it was fixed, we could discuss how to get it back to me. Being in a huge hurry, I grudgingly accepted this, and left.
I guess I'm a little confused that they didn't replace it after reproducing the issue, which they seemed like they were willing to do until I reproduced it.
On a whole, I've been extremely disappointed in Apple Service on all ends, both depot and store, and I'd like to know if there's a number I can reach to get some sort of escalation to at least talk to someone, and maybe get some sort of explanation of how it's okay to have someone make seven (almost eight) four hour trips for one single computer problem with a computer that is under warranty.
At this point, I'm so frustrated, if I could get my money back, and never buy an Apple computer again, I would actually think seriously about it. I was a recent convert (bought a macbook for college in 2007), and thought I would never even think twice about going back, but after this... I'm really not so sure. The only thing that would really prevent me from doing so is probably the $1000's in software I'd have to re-buy for windows, especially since you can't get student discounts twice on one title from most companies.
I think it's pretty unreasonable to expect someone to spend that much money on a computer that is under warranty, even if it's just on gas and tolls. I frankly can't see the logic in that.
Do I have any recourse? Even though it's only been technically "repaired" twice for the same problem (this will be the third) It's been looked at and analyzed seven times. I don't know much about lemon laws or consumer protection/warranty laws, but it seems to me that this should qualify.
If anyone has a phone number or email address of someone a little higher up on the food chain than a head genius at a NH Apple Store, I'd love to get this taken care of. Even a non-tech support customer service number would be helpful.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long novel up there.

I would suggest contacting AppleCare and briefly explain your frustration and ask to speak to a senior manager. Be articulate, have all of your facts organized including receipts, case numbers, etc. so when you talk to someone in charge you have your facts in a row. You should be also patient and persistent until you get a solution to your problem.
We are users just like yourself and cannot do anything other than provide some advice.
Had I been you with all the issues you seem to have been experiencing I would have asked to speak to a store manager. However hindsight is 20/20 so that doesn't do any good. If you do decide to go back to one of the stores make an appointment and when you arrive let them know you want to speak to the store manager. Again be articulate, organized and have all your facts ready including ALL documentation.
    Good luck,
    Roger

  • IPhone 4s - iTunes sync includes 1000 extra songs that aren't on my phone or iTunes

    iPhone 4s 32GB
MacBook Pro 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
    8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
1 TB hard drive (recently installed)
    IOS: 7.1.2
    OS: 10.6.8
    iTunes 11.4 (18)
When my iphone 4s syncs with itunes the audio portion of the capacity graph says I have 2900 songs, or 18.22 GB of music.  However, my phone only has 1949 songs on it ("1949" visible both in the Music app under the Songs tab, and in Settings/General/About), which amounts to around 16.41 GB.
The amount of available space listed fluctuates among different applications (iTunes, Settings, and iStat) but is always between 500 MB and 1 GB. If this takes into account that I only have 1949 songs then I should have at least 1 GB more free than I have.  Instead, this seems to mean that there is space being taken up on my phone for almost 1000 songs that aren't anywhere to be found.
I have my phone synced to only one playlist, which has exactly 1949 songs.  I have no music videos or movies synced.
This has been going on for quite some time now, and I have tried restoring my phone in the past but it did not help get rid of these 1000 nonexistent songs.  My only thought is that it has something to do with purchased music on iTunes that I have deleted from my phone, yet somehow is still on my phone by some error.  I have found no music on my phone that is not in my synced playlist, so I am truly at a loss as to what could be causing this.
I would love to have the extra space, and have been frustrated by this for a long time!  Could anybody possibly help me out?  I will be happy to provide more information if needed.
    Thanks!

Make sure that your music is in the format supported by the iPhone. I use either MP3 or AAC.
A friend had the same problem a while back. All his music was in the WMA format and is therefore not playable on the iPhone and would not copy. Once he converted his songs to MP3 they copied to his iPhone without problem.

  • IPhoto keeps quitting, constantly, very frustrating - losing a lot of work, time, and often having to redo editing work I have already done!! Disappointed!!

Really like iPhoto, and all the editing features, and use this program A LOT!
HOWEVER....exceptionally frustrating and disappointing that this means, when the program keeps, freezing, crashing and losing editing work I have done, that it is time consuming, takes a long time to do the basic editing I am doing, and very often lose, and have to redo eiditing I have already done.
It's a disappointment, seeing as I am such a Mac fan, and own a laptop, desktop, ipad, and iphone, and been an exclusive Mac user for 8years...
    Why such hectic bugs/program deficiencies....?
All software is up to date, I have the Lion OS X on all my devices/computers.
Dont know whats going on and if there is anything I can do, or is Apple doing something to work out these bugs....

    Hi Terence,
I see that you have a lot of experience with iPhoto. I wanted to chime in here and present that I am having this same exact issue. The context here is that I am on a shiny new MBP. Last vistage before the recent update. iPhoto is also driving me nuts, crashing frequently. It does it with my current libraries, with new test libraries that i have made after deleting pres, reinstallg, and restarting. I went to the apple store and we made a new user and a new library, for which I was able to make it crash. I have a photo that will sometimes make it crash, although it can successfully load after the app restarts, or if I completely redo everything. Even so, if you delete the pic and re-add, it does the same thing...but not every time. This is totally elusive. I am hesitant to resinstall the OS because 1) It's still got that new OS smell 2) iPhoto is the old app that shows any kind of trouble. Plus, iPhoto's shenanigans seem to be somewhat temporal, behaving differently every time. I've see a few posts about this on-line and I think it's rediculous that a pillar of the Apple ecosystem is so broken for so many people, with so little recourse. If you'd be willing to try and get to the root with me, it would be absolutely huge.
    Thanks.

  • Common Frustration

I read this in an article about Linux, but I think the idea certainly applies here as well (and probably in forums everywhere).
I posted a message on a forum, but Linux people were mean to me.
in most examples of this complaint, the individual concerned brought wrath on themselves in one of several ways:
    b) By not doing basic homework before asking for help, such as searching the forum for a particular issue that may be extremely common. There's only so many times community members can answer the same query before getting annoyed;
The italics and underlining are added.  I personally would include "getting a proper education in video production" as the very first item on the list of Basic Homework - whether it's a formal education in school, on-the-job-training at a company, or just oodles of reading by a hobbyist, one should be sufficiently familiar with the world of professional video production before one even buys Premiere Pro.  Hell, if I had my way, there'd be an Adobe cop in front of the "store" checking credentials.  Like the line says, there's just so many "why can't I edit my non-editable media" questions one can take.  Unfortunately, we're not really allowed to post as a response: "Dude, you're an idiot.  You have no idea what you're doing, and no business using this software, so just get the (bleep) out of here."
I feel somewhat better knowing my frustration is shared by users in other online communities.

    Jim,
You "killed" the fora. I went to reply, and the entire Adobe forum server died!
I feel your frustration, but easily see Jeff's points above.
One thing that modified my thinking a bit, was spending some time in the Premiere Elements forum. Bought that program to handle some odd formats, and decided to learn more about it in the process.
I read every article in it. I saw the same five questions asked 1000 times. The MOD over there, Steve Grisetti, patiently answered each one. Usually, this was with a link to the FAQ's. I grew to appreciate his patience. Now, I realize that the normal users of PE are not the norm for PrPro users, but sometimes they can be very similar.
With the old fora, Search was easier and the display of the FAQ's was better. Now, a user, especially a new one, will have a much more difficult time. Google is not any help yet, as most/all links to older Adobe forum articles are dead. Hope that the 'bots fix those, if possible.
Also, many users in PrPro fora are trying to do work and get hit with deadlines. They become frustrated and terrified. At one time, or another, it happens to all of us. They reach out, in desperation, for any sort of help, and do not clearly think things through. Heck, I've done it too many times, and I should know better.
Personally, I think that the re-inclusion of Harm's "How to Ask a Question," is a great one. Now, if only more would read it though, before posting.
My time in the PE forum has changed the way that I answer many questions. Some of that does carry over to the PrPro and Encore fora, and I may come off as condescending. That is never my intent - only to get useful info into the hands of the posters. I never wish to speak down to anyone, but have found that if I use the jargon, however proper, it often does not translate to a new user of the software, or to one new to NLE’s or even to computers.
While you and I have slight disagreements, on the subject of education (you make good points, BTW), I try to supply a bit of that education within the fora.
Yes, I do feel your frustration, from time to time, especially when a poster begins ranting, and will never furnish the answers to questions asked by others in a very courteous manner. That gets me, more than the same question being asked ad infinitum.
    Just some musings,
    Hunt
[Edit] Boy, with the forum logging me out every 40 sec. and the formatting going wonky, this might be the most "messed up" reply that I'd had in months!

  • My photostream photos dissapeared - only the last 1000 show...where are my old photos???

    Hi,
i am totally confused and frustrated with iCloud.
i had many many photos on my Photostream and am removing all i can from my iphone (after synchroniszing on the cloud) as i run often out of space on the phone. whatever happened, all of a sudden, i can only see the last 1000 images on my Photostream - all of the others are GONE! i havent touched nor deleted anything. on the contrary, i even upgraded my storage to 55GB to be sure i have enough space (iphone reports free 38 GB on my iCloud space). I cant find my older Photostream photos any more neither when connecting from my iphone, nor from my iPhoto and aparently they are nowhere to be found on my iCloud. WHERE are my photos??!!! it will be a huge disaster if i lost them and not sure how to start understanding paying for a reliable cloud and loosing it all? anyone any idea???

First of all, photo stream storage is separate from regular icloud storage, so buying more space is not necessary.
When you take a photo on a device that has photo stream turned on, that photo is added to the local photo stream group and uploads to icloud's servers, which then download the pics to other devices where they are also stored in their photo stream group.  After 30 days, the photo is deleted from the server, but not the devices.  (No more than 1000 pics are accepted, after which old ones are delete to make room for new ones.)
If, however, you turn off photo stream on one device, the photos in the photo stream group will be deleted.  If you later turn it back on, then only photos on the server will download to the group.  Pictures that were deleted from the server due to the 30 day rule will no longer be available.
It is advised that whenever you have photos appearing in the photo stream group, you move them to a permanent album if you wish to save them.
In short, photo stream is a conduit for copying photos from one device/computer to another - never treat it as some kind of permanent storage service; it isn't.

  • HP Deskjet 1000, Model No. J110a, Product Number CH340C

I purchased a Deskjet 1000 in the Turks and Caicos Islands for use in that country.  It says it takes HP Ink Cartridges 122.  However, even on SureSupply, all such cartridges are "Out of Stock."  How and where do I get cartridges compatible with this printer.  HP Cartridge 61 are not compatible.  Do I chuck it or is there a solution, short of having to buy a new printer.  Rather annoying and frustrating!

Hello @JodyRat and welcome to the HP Forums!
From the sounds of it, you may no longer be in Turks and Caicos, and that may be why you're not able to get the 122 cartridges.
If you're no longer in Turks and Caicos and in a different country, like the US, you would need the cartridges for that country and to contact HP Tech Support to get your printer regionalized for where you are.

  • Battery problem - HP 1000-1140TU

    Hello
I have Hp - 1000-1140TU Laptop, Ci3, 4gb ram and 500gb hard disk with WIindows 8 - 64bit. My battery is having three problems
    1. My battery is plugged in and not charging. This happens when battery reaches 88%.
    2. My laptop shuts down unexpectedly when battery reaches 45%.
    3. When I check my battery status using HP Support Assistant without AC Charger plugged in, during the test my charging light goes on and battery indictaor shows it is being charged.
Between 88% and 45% my laptop works perfectly fine and there are no troubles in using lapotp on battery.
I have tried some of the solutions like Uninstalling Microsoft ACPI - Compliant Control Method Battery, but it is of no use.
I have checked battery status using HP Support Assistant (with AC Charger plugged in) and BIOS, both said my laptop's battery is OK.
Please help me, as this is very frustrating that during work laptop dies suddenly.

  • Nokia E62 with Motorola IHF 1000 car Kit

I just purchased an E62 from Cingular and am unable to pair with a Motorola IHF 1000. Currently I am using a Treo 700P without problems.I have speen many hours on the phone with cingular only to be told that they do not support Bluetooth.
Does any know if there is a way to make them compatable?

I started a thread some time ago on this subject. The only difference being that my phone is an e61. The e61 and e62 are really the same phone but Cingular eliminated some functionality like wireless capability. Anyway, forget it, you won't get the phone and the IHF 1000 to connect. This is particularly frustrating since both the IHF 1000 and Nokia e61 support all the appropriate pairing standards, handfree, etc...
I am using my e61 on Cingular's network in the US. Neither Cingular, Moto or Nokia can solve the problem. I had hoped that after I flashed the latest firmware to the phone it might have solved the problem but, no luck. You need to find another solution, or another car, like I did. By the way, the Lexus bluetooth works with the e61.

  • Import crashes every 1000 photos or so

This is beyond frustrating. I have a drive with about 25,000 DNG files. When I attempt to import them, in-place, Lightroom starts the process and gradually slows down, eventually just disappearing after about one to two hours. It gets about 1000 images in and then just disappears - crashing, of course, but without even a diagnostic. Just... *poof*
And if I try to actually USE Lightroom while it's importing, the breadcrumb line that shows the path/folder to the image never changes from the first image shown, and within about 5 or 6 loupe views starts doing the well-known blank image with "Out of Memory" printed on the side.
I PAID $200 FOR USELESS SOFTWARE.
No, I'm NOT happy about it.
Is there *ANY* indication from Adobe as to why these bugs, which were KNOWN IN THE BETA were allowed into released software? Is there *ANY* indication from Adobe as to when I can expect a fix for this?

Oh man, you must be jocking. Lightroom makes an
extraordinary fatal, uniquely dramatically bad job in terms of resource management. Their coding seems to be a hasty, clumsy work, with disregard of algorithmic complexity and good coding practices.
Some statistics about this resource robbery and abuse is on: http://www.pbase.com/phototalk_thh/lightroom1_rawshooter
Photography is by hobby, albeit I do this for 30 years. Contrary to this, software architecture and design is my life, passion and profession. I rarely saw something as bad as Lightroom. However: hear hear, see the message in this forum, which someone send about dropping Apple Aperture and moving to Lightroom. As is seems, abuse may have its gradation levels as well. There someone has encountered an even worse case, by a margin according to his numbers.
Anyway, performance can be improved, and I hope that Adobe will address these issues seriously.

  • Final Cut 10.1 Media Management Very Frustrated

    Hello Final Cut Pros,
My situation is as follows. I was using Final Cut 10.0.9. That version had a perfect feature that on a simple click allowed me to see all my events organized by Year and even by both year and month if I wanted to. Both Views were simple clicks. I chose to use the By Year and by month view. This is exactly how I want to view my videos in 10.1.  I am not a video professional. These videos are simply my family home videos organized so that we can view them on demand by just going directly to the year and month we want to view. THere are nearly a thousand events spread across 15 years. Upon Upgrading to 10.1 this view has disappeared for me. IN fact it's much worse than that. Each one of my events have now been moved to a 10.1 event. Only there is literally no way of organizing events in 10.1 that I can see. My hundreds of events in 10.1 are simply all lumped together under the one library file that 10.1 created for me. When you search for a way to organize the view of your events you get a little hope when you find that you can orgnize "events" by created date. Only you CAN'T organize events by Created date. You can only organize clips by created date. So when i click to view by created date, my events on the left remain exactly as they were but the clips shown in the browser on the right get organized by Created Date. Nowhere do you see a relationship between the Events on the left which are devoid of any and all organization and the clips on the right neatly organized by Created Date. Now, the thing is in my case I have never  bothered to rename any clip after import. THe clip names themselves have only the clip date as part of the name and that's it. Staring at those clip names for me is useless. After much research, and  couple of fruitless phone calls to Apple Support, I am left completely in the dark. I have spent 3 days agonizing over what to do with this and have decided on somethign that I can;t possibly believe is the answer. I am convinced that I am overlooking somethign brutally obvious but still nobody on the net or anyone in Apple support can point it out to me. Here is what I am doign right now which just has to be wrong. Apple cannot be forcing all of us who are in similar situations to do this, but here goes
    1) I created an Event called ALL EVENTS
    2) I then am going to each of my hundreds of events and doing the following
    3) I am assigning the event name as a Keyword to the clips belonging to that evnt. (No automated way to do this. Nearly a thousand events)
    4) Next, I drag the clips in that event to the ALL EVENTS event.
    5) I select the keyword collection which is named the same as my event and which now appears in the ALL EVENTS folder and on the broser window I can see the  clips. THe clips are organized by date.
    6) THen I create a folder in tthe ALL EVENTS folder with the year of the clips and another folder inside the year folder for teh month of the clips. I then drag the Keyword collection to inside the month.
Doign the above is the only way that I can conceive of with 10.1 to see all of my home videos organized by year and by month. Dividing any of this into multiple events and/or mutiple libraries is useless to me from what I can see. I want to be able to enter the word CHristmas and have all videos relating to Christmas for every year pop up. I don;t belive that can happen with 10.1 if clips are stored across events, and certainly not across libraries but I could be wrong.
I am just about convinced that I am about to be totally emabarrased by someone's 1 or 2 sentence reply to this post explaining what I need to be doing that will not consume days if not weeks of my time like the steps I described above in order to have a By Year and by Month view of my videos.
Thank you all for any help you can provide
    Javier

WOW, my frustration is mounting to no end. Tom, I have searched over and over again. There is nothing out there that addresses my very, very clearly stated predicament in this post. While I most definitely appreciate your response to my post, please notice that you also are not directly addressing and answering my question. Leaving me to continue to suspect that the answer is simply that no there is no way to get a view by Year and By Month without putting in weeks of work". I am looking for a white paper from Apple that addresses the followign question exactly,
"Hi Mr. Final Cut user, if you have an event library that is based ont he current system whihc allows you to clearly view all of your events by Year and by MOnth here is what you need to do to achieve the same thign in 10.1/ . Here are some of the suggestions on how you might be able to TRANSITION". Of course everyone's case is different Mr Final Cut User but of the 4 or 5 clearly stated options we've given you here it's up to you which one you chooise. And BTW none of the options we;ve given you require you to put in weeks of work to get to what you had already."
Again, I don;t feel that an answer to my question can be "well to each their own. Everybody's workflow is different so you ahve to get to know 10.1 through online materials. That's baloney. The Group by Year and Month was an option right on the GUI. Its akin to them removing the Import feature and telling us all that everybody imports different.
I AM NOT the only person who had all their clips in EVENTS.  THe EVENT in the new media management is nothing like the EVENT in the old. Actually the fact that named it EVENT may be adding to the confusion.
Tom, if you know Final Cut then you know exactly what's just happened to me. Nearly 1000 events have been dumped into separate 10.1 events yet there is no Event-based organization at all. THere is nothing out there at all addressing this question. Again, in Final Cut 10.0.9 I was clicking once and getting all my events organized instantenaously by Year and by Month. If you would be so kind as to please just answer this question for me before I put in weeks of work. With the new 10.1 am I forced to do tons of work in order to get to see my videos again by Year and by Month? THis answer would be very helpful to me because right now I am in disbelief that I have to do that. It makes the work I am doing very depressing. For all I know, there actually is a way to do it very easily or maybe Apple knows about this issue and is about to issue a fix for it.
MY quetion is simple. Can someone please help me.
Thank You Very Much for any help you can provide
