Full screen windows media player

Greetings - I am having issues trying to open a .wmv file
full-screen. I am simply using:
on mouseUp
baOpenFile( the moviePath & "01.wmv" , "maximized" )
end
I have made several attempts to at code to make sure it opens
in full-screen, but found no simple solution. I am running dual
monitors and this will open up in the second monitor within the WMP
- full screen.
Thanks all -
bS

Hmmm … maximizing the application isn’t exactly
the same as full screen playback (ie: without all the interface
elements). If you want to maximize the application on a given
monitor the following might work:
Open media player in normal mode
Use baMoveWindow to place the player on the monitor of your
choice
Use baSetWindowState to maximize
You could use baMoveWindow to both move the window and make
it full screen although I don’t think the OS will recognize
the window as being maximized.
To use Buddy API’s window functions you’ll need
the WinHandle for your media player window … look closely at
baFindWindow and/or baWindowList … these functions I have
used. Make sure you use the window title to find the handle, using
the class is dangerous because there is no guarantee that media
player will be the default player for wmv on any given system.
If your projector is windowed and can be dragged by the user,
and if you want to identify which monitor shares the greatest area
with the projector stage I wrote the following function. Works fine
with single monitor systems. Note that if the user somehow manages
to push the projector off all screens the primary monitor is
returned. I’m not sure what will happen if you call the
function while the projector is minimized (not possible in my use).
I suspect the primary monitor would be returned but I’ve
never tested that, it all depends on what the value of
_movie.stage.rect is when the application is minimized. If
it’s rect(0,0,0,0) there’s no problem, if it’s
void the following code would need to be modified to check the
application state first.

  • Full Screen Windows Media

I'd like to be able to view some Windows Media files online in Safari in full screen but every time I try get streaming video to work, which it does, Quicktime opens it in a small screen. Barely enough to see. Granted the resolution will not be as good but I may as well not even watch it. Much of what I'm trying to watch is international online TV. Is there some setting in Flip for Mac that should be set to or is there a way to get Windows Media Player 9 activated, which I also have, so I can watch it in Full screen?

  • Full screen is black when using windows media player on Equium series

    Hi.
When i watch TV on the windows media player so I have problem. If I switch on full screen so there is just black screen but I can hear sounds.
    Watching DVD is OK.
I've got my laptop for 4 months but everything was ok.
This problem started just now maybe 2 days ago. I think i've done something but i don't know what and i can't fix it.
I've done restoring OS but it didn't help.
    Could you help me please?
    Thanks

    Hi there,
I know that problem, its just a bug with the media player and the graphics drivers (Its mainly the media player causing the error). Please, if you want to watch something on the TV then the playback must be STOPPED BEFORE you switch the screen. After you switched the screen, activate the playback and it should work.
Otherwise go to the site of www.videolan.org, download the latest version of the VLC player and do it with him, it should work for sure. I never start the playback of some movie or whatever when the screen was not changed before to the TV as the only screen.

  • Export FCP seq in a way that will work on Windows Media Player (good grief)

    Hello all (again).
Before getting down to business I wanted to thank “FxDude,” TopoTone,” and “governor” for their assistance to my recent posts. By the way- (to all) sorry for the double postings. I was in a time crunch and kind of panicked.
With that said- here’s my deal…
I’ve created a short (5min) commercial for a community college. The project was “dirty work” (which I think is the industry term for taking low quality video from multiple sources, cameras, and formats, and turning it into a single decent looking video). If it isn’t the term- perhaps it should be. Note to self – wow, that was way more work than I ever want to do again. Anyway, I digress. The video is done and looks great as a DVD playing on TV’s or projector etc. Cool? Cool.
Now, although the school will be using the DVD (in most cases) via the mediums of TV and projection, they have also informed me that in many cases, they will be playing the DVD on their various PC laptops and PC desktops alone – aka viewing the DVD on their actual computer screen. Of course, being a community college in California- it’s all PC and all Windows Media Player for them. Further, being a community college- they all run basic versions of WMP with no QuickTime or any other plugins that would facilitate many of Mac’s avi codecs, and they’re not allowed to download such things (at least on the machines owned and operated by the school). Poop I say… POOP!
Of course, as we all know- (in general) most “dirty work” SD videos formatted for NTSC look like dog crap when played on a computer screen (especially full screen modes) mainly because of interlacing etc etc. Since I worked my butt off trying to make crap look decent and succeeded, im sure u can understand my desire to not move back to crap.
What I need- (what I think I need?)
    1. I need a version of the video that will play easily on a standard PC via a standard version of Windows Media Player.
    2. I need it to look as good a possible.
What I know so far- (what I think I know so far)
    1. I need to export a deinterlaced version of the original FCP timeline (sequence).
    2. I need the final version to be .wmv file
    What I don’t know- (pretty sure I don’t this)
    1. What’s the best method of achieving the above? Currently, (based on what I do know and what I have loaded on my mac) I have three
options for achieving the above. FYI- I have a working version of the plugin flip4mac which offers a wmv export option in both my QuickTime conversion window as well as my compressor.
    a. Export using QuickTime conversion > choosing wmv, and messing around with the settings to get the best quality.
    b. Export using Compressor > choosing wmv, and messing around with the settings to get the best quality
    c. Convert a high quality version of the video (perhaps h264 or some other good looking avi using mpeg streamclip to wmv.
My questions- (bless all of you for reading this far- good grief)
    1. What’s the best way to do the above?
    2. Is there a way, workflow, codec, setting, or religion I can use to get this done in the least amount of steps?
    3. I’ve been told that there are some codecs that are by their nature deinterlaced- h264?, is this correct?
    4. Based on my issue, what do you think I should do?
    My Specs
    Sequence Settings
    F = 720 x 480, AR NTSC DV(3:2). PAR= NTSC – CCIR 601 / DV (720x480), Anamorphic Checked, FD= Lower / Even, ET= 29.97,
    Comp.= DV / DVCPRO-NTSC
    Advanced Seq Settings
All same with the addition of quality set to Highest, Scan Mode = Interlaced, and AR set to 16x9.
Clip Settings = same as Seq settings
    Once again-
Thanks you guys (as always) for you time-
    Terry

    Hey Terry
in the corporate world wee have to contend with clients who are all windows based and prevented from installing anything on their systems.
    I use Flip4Mac, Studio Pro HD, with the following mix of settings;
Open clip in QT, I do also use compressor but for some reason I like using QT for exporting to WMV.
    File/Export
    Export:movie to windows media
Use: One pass VBR, Presentation (high), 16:9
    Options>
Advanced... input type: interlace Lower field first(DV), output type: progressive
    Coding method: Two pass VBR
Give this a shot and then tweak to suit your needs, oh and you can save your settings as a preset for QuickTime.
Within Compressor there is no export to WMV, so you have to start with another setting and create your own saving it for future use.

  • How do I open Windows Media Player 11 in a new window via labview 8.5 using ActiveX

    Hello,
Although familiar with Labview, I am new to the ActiveX Controls. I have managed to open and play movie files in Labview with ActiveX controls but the player is embedded in Labview's front panel. How can I control what file is played and when it starts in Labview but have Windows media player 11 open in a separate window.
Additionally, where can I find a description of the ActiveX properties.
    Thank you

I'm trying to accomplish this same thing and am having a hell of a time finding the right Class, right Methods, and/or right Properties for a solution.  Some classes seem to return obscure errors when I try to create them use the invoke node "launchURL" (the WMPLib.ICore for example).  If I use the Player base class (which MSDS says is the root class and the class that is used when you create an embedded player) I don't get anything.
What I would like is to progmatically launch Windows Media Player to play a particular video clip in full screen on the secondary monitor.  It seems like this should work:
But doesn't... any ideas for this?  The C# examples are difficult to understand for me.  Also, the WMP class library is a MESS! (IMHO).  Thanks for your input.

  • Quicktime vs. windows media player

i am using my friend's old macbook from 2006 and i noticed that watching videos on quicktime is not as good as windows media player was in my 2002 G4. with quicktime i cannot get full screen, and i have to wait a while for the video to download after the file is already downloaded to my desktop. i tried to xfer windows media player from my old computer with a thumb drive but didnt work. what video player can i download that will allow me to watch on full screen and not have to wait for download after i download the file to my desktop. and once i download this program how do i make it my default video player?

what video player can i download that will allow me to watch on full screen and not have to wait for download after i download the file to my desktop.
    Flip4Mac & VLC
Quicktime/View - select the screen size you want.
    QT Full Screen Mode Widget.
how do i make it my default video player?
    Highlight the video file/File/Get Info
In the Get Info window, scroll down to "Open with:"
Select the player you want to open the music file.
Click the "Change All..." button if you want to "Use this application to open all documents like this.”

I have recently saved some of my video's in the format "MPEG HD 720P 30" and when I play them with windows media player is does not go full screen it has the two black bars on the sides and at certain points in the video the sides will shake right to left.  I did some reading and it seems to be the video stabilizer going to effect however on the yellow line drop down menu on each clip in my timeline the setting is on Opacity and not stabilization.  Is there any reason it would still be doing this?

  • DVD looks fuzzy in Windows Media Player

    Hello,
I've created a DVD in Encore 2.0 that has uncompressed quicktime files and high-res .tif images. The DVD works fine but when I play in a client's Windows Media Player, the elements look soft. I went back to the project and checked everything and they looked fine coming out of Encore.
Could it be the monitor settings for Windows Media Player? We seem to have the problem when viewed in full-screen mode. Or can it be that the Media Player is having problems with the quick time files? Is it best to convert the QT files to AVI before importing into Encore?
    Any help is much appreciated...thanks

    > also, the dvd decoder that windows media player uses isn't the best. try using PowerDVD, i've had better luck with that one.
This is very misleading. WMP uses the MPEG-2 decoder you installed with your commercial Soft DVD player. There is no default MPEG-2 decoder installed with Windows XP - it is not there. No Soft player, WMP will not play a DVD.
    >go to file/transcode/edit project transcode presets. here are the settings i use. feel free to suggest better settings.
This is also misleading. As a general rule of thumb, allow Encore to use the "Automatic" mode until you learn exactly what all these parameters actually do, or you may well end up creating a file that is not DVD compliant, or will not play properly. Max bitrates of 8.5Mb/sec is asking for trouble with writen DVD.
    > DVD resolution is 720x480 (assuming NTSC). Your monitor resolution might be something like 1280x1024, 1600x1200, 1280x720, 1920x1080, etc. Viewing the video at full screen will make it look "soft" because it is being scaled up to your monitor resolution. View it at actual size and see how it looks.
Great advice. As WMP does not have special firmware to upscale SD resolution properly, it will indeed look "softer" than it should for exactly these reasons.
Set top players that can upscale are a different kettle of fish altogether.

  • Can't run some MOV in Windows Media Player

I find that some of my MOV files will run in Windows Media Player and some will not. I'm not sure what is causing this and don't know where to start. The only things I know that is different is that in the details the MOV's that won't play don't have any height or width. There is no error I can find.

I generate a large number of MOV files every week for the media company I work  for. 100% work as expected and have for some time now. We spent months finding the right variables to produce a file type that was optimal for the applications we use to display multiple full motion content. All these files were only a portion of the screen with a banner running below (weather, news ticker, etc.). Recently I was asked to produce MOV files that take up the entire screen. 0% of them work and I have only changed the screen size. I have been converting them to WMV's to make it work but that is extra work and I don't have the time to maintain two sets of content for my clients and my clients don't want to handle two sets either. I think I am missing a setting or something that is causing the full screen movies to output with no height or width.

  • How can i take screenshots in windows media player

How can i take  screenshots in windows media player.

If you mean "encrypted", the running Windows Media Player or Windows Media
Center IN a window and not full screen may allow you to take a screen shot of
the desktop in its entirety. That can be cropped to just the content wanted.
    Here is an example

  • Windows Media Player Fullscreen ActiveX

Is it possible to run Windows Media Player in Fullscreen mode with
ActiveX in LabView?  If not, is there a different player I could
use?  I am trying to play video only (no sound) and the files are
    mosly avis.

Under your controls pallette, do you an pallete that is .Net & ActiveX?? (I have my pallete set up as Icons and Text and that makes the .Net & ActiveX pallete visible)  In there, there should be a Button that says Windows Media player.  that atuomatically puts a Windows Media player in a container on your front panel.  You can then just try to create a property node and see if one of the properties availible is Full screen.
I am using LV 8.0 too by the way.

  • Windows Media Player problem

I use Windows Media Player as my default player.  Starting today, any video (whether from a DVD or already existing on my computer) comes up in a tiny window.  The media player screen itself comes up filling the screen as always, but the viewing area is only 3 or 4 inches.  Clicking on the buttons in upper right to expand to full screen or the middle button has no effect.  Normally, the picture comes up much larger, filling the media player framework completely.  I can click the media player control at lower right to expand to full screen, eliminating the media player frame, but I want it to come up like it always has.  Can anyone help?

Not really a "Apple SU for Windows" question.
Flip4Mac or VLC or something probably.
