Function Module READ_TEXT short dump

Hi All,
I've created a bespoke long text object so I can save some long text to it.  I created it by copying the SAP standard long text object for CATS (timesheets) in SE75.  I save to this object using the function module SAVE_TEXT and I read it back using the function module READ_TEXT.  I get a short dump during READ_TEXT which says:
"CONNE_IMPORT_WRONG_COMP_TYPE
Error when attempting to IMPORT object "TLINE".
When importing the object "TLINE", the component no. 1 in the dataset has a different type from the corresponding component of the target object in the program "SAPLSTXD ".
The data type is "I" in the dataset, but "C" in the program."
I've looked on OSS (as it's a SAP standard program) but can't find anything.  I get no errors when trying to read the standard object CATS only when I try and read my new object, so I'm thinking that I haven't set it up correctly.  An entry in table STXH occurs for both objects so I know I have saved some long text in my object.
Can anyone help?
Gill

Hi,
have you passed the correct parameters to the FM.
try to check the sample...
data: it_lines like tline occurs 0 with header line.
    CALL FUNCTION 'READ_TEXT'

i think it is because of it_lines declaration.

  • JCO RFC provider: Server function not found, short dump

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to use the JCO RFC provider service of NW04s (SP15) together with an ABAP 4.6C system. I've followed all the documentation that I could find, but couldn't get it to work yet. This is what I've done so far:
    Using SM59 I've had a destination APP_JK1 created for me on the R/3 system. AFAIK it's set up correctly and marked as a "registered server", connection tests were successful.
    On the portal, I've created a RFC portal destination using my R/3 credentials and successfully tested it. Then I created an entry in the RFC provider service, using the correct values for system, id & gateway, and let it point to my RFC destination for the repository connection. The program ID is also APP_JK1.
    Next, I created a stateless session bean which is part of an EAR, gave it a JNDI name of "RFCTEST" and added a method like this:
        * @ejb.interface-method view-type="both"
        * @param function called function
       public void processFunction(com.sap.mw.jco.JCO.Function function) {
          JCO.ParameterList input  = function.getImportParameterList();
          String query = input.getString("I_STRING_SEARCH");
          JCO.ParameterList output = function.getExportParameterList();
          output.setValue(query, "ECHOTEXT");
    (The project uses xdoclet for the creation of J2EE stuff)
    In application-j2ee-engine.xml located in the META-INF directory of my EAR, I've added:
    <reference reference-type="hard">
         <reference-target provider-name="sap.com" target-type="library">com.sap.mw.jco</reference-target>
    </reference>
    The application deploys without errors, and besides from my RFC connection works as expected. In the JNDI registry view of VisualAdmin I see the corresponding entry: "rfcaccessejb/RFCTEST" is a local reference to my stateless session bean.
    On ABAP, I have a tiny little program that calls my function, mainly looking like this:
    CALL FUNCTION 'RFCTEST' DESTINATION 'APP_JK1'
      EXPORTING
        I_STRING_SEARCH = query
      IMPORTING
        ECHOTEXT = t1.
    Unfortunately, it short dumps immediately. The error message is:
    JCO.Server could not find server function 'RFCTEST'
    I'm lost. What could be wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated. Kind regards,
    Christian Aust

    Hello Perry song,
    You got the short dump bcoz, there is no perform by the name you provided in the program,
    for example. consider there are 2 programs.
    Program 1 :
    REPORT  ZPGM1.
    *Calling a perform SNAME1 , the code of perform is written in ZPGM2.
    perform sname1 IN PROGRAM ZPGM2.
    Program 2 :
    REPORT  ZPGM2.
    perform sname1 .
    Form SNAME1 .
    write : 'Text in form SNAME1' .
    endform.                    " SNAME1
    (here SNAME1 is found and it works perfectly )
    Change in Program 1 :
    REPORT  ZPGM1.
    *Calling perform DELTA ,
    perform DELTA IN PROGRAM ZPGM2 IF FOUND.
    Now the perform statement will search for perform " DELTA " in ZPGM2 , but there is no perform by name DELTA , so here we need to mention the condition " IF FOUND "  , so now by mentioning the condition " IF FOUND " in perform statement ,  if the perform DELTA is not found then it wont go to DUMP.
    If condition " IF FOUND "  is not mentioned in perform statement like
    perform DELTA IN PROGRAM ZPGM2 . ( This gives DUMP )
    just type " IF FOUND " when u r calling a perform from other program ( i guess this will solve the problem ).
    Hope it might be helpfull,
    Regards ,
    Aby

  • Problem when using function module PYXX_READ_PAYROLL_RESULT giving dump.

    When i am using PYXX_READ_PAYROLL_RESULT function module to get HR cluster data. I am getting following dump.
    So,can any one help me to solve this issue.I want this function data.
    An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
    The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_DYN_CALL_ILLEGAL_TYPE', was
      not caught in

      RAISING clause.
    Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
    exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
    The reason for the exception is:
    Call to FORM "IMPORT_RESULT" is incorrect:
    The actual parameter no. 2 has a different data type in the
    PERFORM than requested for the FORM "IMPORT_RESULT" in program "%_T0LJ20".

  • Copy Standard Function modules  to Z Function modules

    Hello,
    I have a requirement like , I need have a typical requirement where i need to copy few function modules in the same function group , in  this regard i copied 4 function module and calling performs with the program name , but i am unable to achive the requirement , Function module is getting Dump,
    Can any one explain the standarded function modules and place it in Z function group. or is it possible to include standard function group in to Z function group ?
    How to get reslove ?  please guide ...
    Thanks In Advance.
    With Best Regards
    Naganjaneyulu.P.V

    Hi Naganjaneyulu,
    If you copy it will be similar to Standard. But you can modify those FMs as you like which will not be possible in standard. Also if you solely copy the FM, If that FM consists or depends on the screens or Includes which are present in the Function Group then there will be syntax errors and shortdumps. The Reason for your short dump might be this.
    If you are still not happy with this approach, Kindly paste the standard FM that you are trying to clone and the short dump that you are encountering.
    Thanks,
    Sai

  • Urgent: Problems in Generic Extraction by Function Module

    Hi BW Gurus,
    I am new to SDN and also new to generic extraction using function module. My requirement is to extract long text(142 char) from CRM to BW as the text is not stored in database table I used function module read_text with in another ZXXX function module copy of (RSAX_BIW_GET_DATA_SIMPLE). In my extract structure I used GUID(char,32), Langu, long text(142 char) and 2 placeholders. Text can be extracted by passing STXH table fields(Tdname, Tdid, Tdobject, Tdspars) to read_text as parameters and i also need to use CRMD_ORDERADM_H field GUID(32 char) to compare 1st 32 chars of tdname(70 char) with Guid to select Guids and loop thru this Guids and for each Guid i need to append lines of text to e_t_data but as i donot know ABAP i unable to write the code for this. Through my friends help i wrote code when i check in RSA3 it is displaying the text but when i replicate into BW and load into data target in monitor the status is red with records initially but afterwards it will be red status again with 0 from 0 records for initial load again.when i check on job logs the errors i have are:
    The background job has created a job log file of 2Gb size and it is currently on a infinite loop writing entries into the SAP System Log that it cannot write to the Job log file due to “Error 22 for write/read access to a file” this is because of the datasource i have created. Please find my Function module and if anyone would please correct FM and send me that will be really great.I appreciate it in advance.

    Hi,
    The statement <b>RAISE NO_MORE_DATA</b> should be active (uncommented) in your code. Otherwise, the infinte loop occurs.
    See also, the Siggi's blog:

    BTW, was it your thread here:

  • Looking for Function module through which I can get Logged comments

    Hi,
    I am new to CRM.
    On an activity task we have 'Logged comments' section. I am looking for FM that I could use to import 'Logged comments' for an activity task.
    I guess that I can use CRM_ORDER_READ. I was trying to find some documentation but did not find anything. I am not sure which object I should export.
    Could anyone help me?
    Many thanks,
    Jan

    If you are refering to text called logged comments then use function module READ_TEXT.
    Regard.
