FYI: Configuring ODI with SqlServer 2008 R2

I thought somebody might find this stuff useful...
To configure Sqlserver2008 as ODI Repository follow the steps
Step 1: Download JDBC Drivers Version 3.0 from Microsoft Website
Extract and copy the two jar files
Copy them to
OracleHome/oracledi/drivers
OracleHome/oracledi/lib
Step 2: While entering your connection information
use the following Details
Driver
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
url
jdbc:sqlserver://hostname:1433;selectMethod=cursor;databaseName=dbname;responseBuffering=adaptive

Handle:     Awesome

Configuring ODI with HP OpenView

Hi All,
Our client wants to use HP OpenView for system monitoring. How can ODI be configured to work with OpenView. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What exactly would you like to monitor?
As ODI registers all its activities in RDBMS is possible to adapt process to monitoring anything.

Adobe form with sqlserver 2008

I had create an Interactive form to show data form Sqlser 2008 using sql server native client 10.0.
I want it show all data form database but it only show first record, Any one help me ?
My query : select * from Item
Adobe form :
Subform : page1
    subform1 : (repeat subform for each data item ).
          Field 1.
          field 2.
          Field 3.
Sorry don't know to attach pdf file.

This issue is resolved. This was due to loading a large data set to the form.

Link server SqlServer 2008 R2 and oracle 8i

Hi,
I have many days trying to link a oracle 8i 8.1.6.3 AIX with SQLServer 2008 R2 64 bits.
I tested with ODAC: 11,10 and 9.
Any one can tell me any suggestions to do it? I read many articles and blogs and says not possible to do.
Some guys wroted in blogs articles that was succesful, but when I do the step by step dont work.
We cant update the oracle 8i 8.1.6.3 AIX, we cant shut down the system.

Just an update to this problem as I have had time to get round to looking at it again.
Installed MSSQL Server 2008 on a Windows XP 32 bit virtual PC.
Installed Oracle Instant Client, copied the TNSNAMES.ORA from the server above.
Set the Environmental Variables and rebooted.
Same BIDS package as in the original problem.
Only 8 seconds to run and transfer 39062 rows, roughly 4883 rows a second!
I am very curious about where the problem lies.
Is it a problem with the Oracle 64 bit drivers but while within the BIDS environment it should be using the 32 bit drivers?
The package did not run any faster when using MS SQL Agent to run the package where it would have used the 64 bit drivers.
I think I will leave this Virtual XP setup running on our Virtual Server Server to do the transfers.
I'd still like to know what the problem is and how to fix it.
So if anyone else has the same problem and solves it please post the answer here.

Issue with configuring Hyperion HUB 7.1.2 with SQLSERVER 2005

Hello Experts,
One of my customer has an issue with configuring Hyperion HUB 7.1.2 with SQLSERVER 2005.
"We are trying to configure the SQL server 2005 database with Hyperion hub and we are unable to get the cofiguration completed. We suspect the driver class (hyperion.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver) used in the domain.xml (path \Hyperion\HyperionHub\7.2.1\deployments\Tomcat\4.1.30\) is not helping to connect with sql server 2005. We would appreciate if you can provide new driver class which we can included while deploying the app under the web server."

Please redeploy only the Web Server under shared service. It has to be redeployed once EPMA and others are configured.

I am trying to install OBIA 11.1.1.7.1 in Windows 2008.
All went well , upgraded weblogic to 10.3.6
When I run the following command create the wallet files,

Spent lot of time in trouble shooting, I rebuilt the image from scratch, reinstalled. Still the same error at this step. I am not able to go-forward with out completing this step.
If the issue is not resolvable, could you please give an alternate way of 'Configuring ODI to use Fusion Middleware'

got the issue resolved
Change the contents of C:\Middleware\utils\config\10.3\setHomeDirs.cmd
from:
set MW_HOME = @ MW_HOME

to

set WL_HOME =% WL_HOME%

Rerun the patch script to set the variables properly
cd c:\Middleware\Oracle_BI1\biapps\tools\bin
perl APPLY_PATCHES.pl apply_patches_import.txt
Then Go to
c:\Middleware\Oracle_BI1\common\bin\
Run the following command

I have a query regarding sql server trace logs,
I'm using SqlServer 2008 r2 version for sharepoint 2010 installation, But I'm toomuch struggled with SqlServer trace logs, due to these logs my system drive always filling and my sharepoint site is not allowing for browsing. If I delete the trace logs, the
system drive will have some free space and sharepoint site is running very smothly.
So, I want to stop my tracelogs in sqlserver. Please guide the very best solution.

Give a command to list all traceids:
SELECT * FROM sys.fn_trace_getinfo(NULL)
for each tracing you want to disable (except for default trace which need to be configured through sp_configure) execute (here is a sample for traceid=3):
exec sp_trace_setstatus 3,0
If you need to disable a default trace, issue the commands:

I am getting the error "The conversion of a varchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value."
when converting date in format Date in varchar(50) format MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM into YYYY-MM-DD format using MS SQLServer 2008 R2.
Please note that the date in column is Date(varchar(50), null).
I used the following syntax:
SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), Date, 102) AS Day
FROM dbo.[RCap_2G MM/Operator]
WHERE (CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), Date, 102) > { fn NOW() } - 1)

As noted above, either use ISDATE or TRY_CONVERT with the correct conversion style number:

Installation of ODI with SQL Server 2005

I am trying to install ODI with MS Sql Server 2005.
I created a database in Sql Server & created a user with db_owner rights for logging into the database.
While trying to install Master Repository, i selected Sql Server with following details
Driver: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
URL: jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://<myhostname>:1433;SelectMethod=cursor
The repository does not get created giving error:
*com.sunopsis.core.q: java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC][SQLServer]The incoming tabular data stream (TDS) remote procedure call (RPC) protocol stream is incorrect. Parameter 1 (""): Data type 0x38 is unknown*
Now if i change the URL to jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://<myhostname>:1433, the repository gets created successfully. But at the time of login into the topology manager using the same Master repository, it again prompts me the same error.
Has anyone faced the same issue?

Hi,
You are using SQL server 2005 but trying to connect using the SQL server 2000 connection details you should be using
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
jdbc:sqlserver://ServerName:1433;databaseName=DBNAME;SelectMethod=cursor
You will also need to make sure you are using the correct SQL server 2005 driver, if you are using a version of Java before 1.5 for ODI then you will need the SQL Server 2005 1.2 JDBC driver.

if you are using SQL Server 2008 express edition
you are NOT able to use Copy database wizard so the only option you have is to try as mentioned above
a) Backup /Restore
Create a new DB to where you want the copy should go and
Make a Full Backup with .BAK of your original database and Restore the backup on other system and Right click on the the new DB you created and Restore by navigate to your .BAK and make sure MDF and LDF file match the new.

b) Detach/Attach
Detach the database and copy the database files to other system; and attach these database files.

It will provide you a excel sheet giving list of all the supported configuration for WLS 10.3.
The excel sheet says that :
Oracle WebLogic Server : 10Rg3(10.3) is supported for
Intel EM64T, AMD64
Windows 2008 (includes SP1+)
