G580 not playing or ripping CDs

My G580 Intel Core i3-3110M Laptop has stopped playing or ripping CDs.
Ive tired Microsoft updates and that has not solved the problem,
Media player mostly does not recognise the CD,  few times it has recognised the play list but wont play or rip and an error message shows.
I tried many CDs and download another CD player. one player showed the CD contents but when I tried to rip the CD a pop up message states
     Cant retrieve DVD/CD model.

I have taken 2 screenshots of the same album, the first screen shot is from Lenavo Power player,
the power player takes a a few minutes to load and then a message of not responding after a while.it does show the names on this occasion in power player but took a few minutes to load and still not playing the CD.
the 2nd screensot is the same CD from files

  • Hyper-V guest machine unable to play or rip CDs

    Hi,
I have a Windows 7 VM on which I would like to play and rip CDs. I defined the CD/DVD drive to point on the physical CD/DVD drive.
When I insert an audio CD, the VM detects the insertion but it is not able nor to play nor to rip files.
On VM I can correctly play MP3 and other media. Only physical audio CD cannot play.
Any suggestion on how to solve the problem?
    Thank you.

That's a free product using OEM version of a StarWind (current V6 does not allow burners pass-thru in a free mode but in V8 we'll flex out this feature).
    Good luck! :)

  • Can't play or rip CDs with 5.0

Well, I was able to install iTunes 5.0 with no trouble. Lost a couple of songs I downloaded, but not a huge problem. My concern is that I cannot Rip CDs. Can't play them either. This is why I went back to 4.7 after attempting 4.8. I thought maybe 4.9 would have fixed the problem, but no...so I had to uninstall that, too. I keep trying, but keep failing to get the results I need.
Basically, iTunes will only play the first 1-3 seconds of each track on a CD. Same goes for ripping tracks. (Is this Apple's way of saying, "don't use Windows," Or perhaps, "buy music from iTunes store?") Although the first three seconds of the tracks are generally nice...I'd much prefer to hear the whole song. I'm sure you understand. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • IPod not playing re-ripped tunes with higher bit-rates

Since I got my iPod and have more storage I have been slowly re-ripping some of some tunes at a higher bit rate. iTunes doesn't appear to try to sync these songs and re-upload them to the iPod.
What happens is that the song stops playing part-way through the song. My guess is that it is due to the file size of the old (lower) bit-rate, as if it still thinks the EOF is at the same spot even though the file is now larger. It's almost as if the index doesn't get updated properly somehow.
I've tried deleting all the songs on the iPod and even doing a restore, but that doesn't always fix it. Some songs do it, some don't.
I know the rips are good because I can play them all the way through with either iTunes or Media Player.
Any help on getting it to sync them properly?

I assume that I have to re-rip the songs at the higher bit rate, unless there is Is there an easy way to do that without re-ripping them.
Assuming you want the higher audio quality (and not just a puffed up version of the same low quality track) you will have to re-rip from the CDs.
Also, what happens to the lower bit rate songs in my playlists, especially if I delete the lower bit rate versions from my library?
Under certain conditions, iTunes will recognize the CD and ask you if you want to replace the existing versions.  Say yes, and the rip process will automatically do the replace.
In case it does not ask, just go ahead and rip, and then do the replacements manually.

  • Suddenly unable to play or rip CDs.

Can anyone help? I was able to play audio CD's and rip CD's using iTunes, until today. iTunes detects the CD and will download the tract info from GraceNotes. When I try and play the songs, iTunes quickly scrolls through all the songs, but doesn't play them. I am able to play songs and podcasts from the library. I have no problems playing CD's using Windows Media Player. iTunes is set as my default audio CD player.
    Thanks, WCTC

  • ITunes 11.1 on Windows 8 will not play/rip audio CDs

    Problem:
I cannot play or rip audio CDs using iTunes on Windows 8. iTunes does not show any errors. It recognizes that I've put in an audio CD with tracks (and, in fact, matched the tracks in the iTunes database). When I click the Play button, it just skips from one song to the next.
    Stats:
    - OS: Windows 8 Media Edition/64-bit
    - BDRW: LG WH14NS40
    - iTunes: 11.0.1.126
    Background:
I built a computer and installed a BDRW. The BDRW uses Windows drivers, so no additional software was installed.
The burner reads CD/DVD data and video just fine (haven't tested with BluRay yet).
When I put an audio CD in, I couldn't listen to it in either iTunes or Windows Media Player.
After following the directions here -- http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-pictures/dvdcd-player -not-playing-audio-cds-win8-laptop/791e04c0-628e-42a8-8014-43cc782511a4 -- I could hear it on Windows Media Player, but not on iTunes.
I could not rip any music using iTunes: all it did was create a bunch of 1kb files.
    Question:
How could I have iTunes play Audio CDs again?
    Thanks in advance.

    Correction: iTunes 11.1.0.126, not 11.0.1.126

CDs I burn from my itunes 10 on my macbook with snow lepard will not play in the regular cd player.  How do I burn Cds that will pay in a reg old cd player?

When the computer was new, I had the same issue I have now.  It was new and I could not burn to play on a reg cd player. Today, I can not burn to play on a reg cd player. Inbetween, I could not burn to play on a reg cd player.  I keep giving up and then trying months later.
I have recently made the cds that play on the computer.  I have also tried in the last month to make a dvd copy, it played.  I have gone to people's homes and tried the cd's burned in my computer. They are not recognized.  This last round I have only used the cd-r but have tried many others in the past. I am running out of money to keep buying different brands, kinds, etc.  I figured it must be my lac of knowledge and am trying to get some new here.
    Sincerely,

  • Tracks imported from CDs prior to 11/08 not playing correctly

95% of the tracks I imported from CDs prior to November of 2008 will not play back correctly in I-tunes or on my Ipod. Tracks that have been imported since then are fine.
If I go directly to the MP3 file on my hard drive and play it through Windows Media Player it plays fine.
Import settings are MP3 High Quality 160 kbps.
If I delete the track in I-tunes and re-import it from the MP3 file on the hard drive it still doesn't play correctly or won't import it at all.
If I delete the track and corresponding file on the hard drive and then re-import the track through I-tunes it is OK.
Is there anyway to "repair" the old transfered files or am I looking at wasting 20 hours of my life deleting and re-importing all of these tracks?

    Hi john_,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iMac is reading DVDs but not CDs, and you've already reinstalled OS X, try these steps next:
Check the disc's surface for scratches and dirt, since these things can prevent the disc from appearing on the desktop.
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).

I have thousands of songs dowloaded from my cds and purchased from itunes that will not play.  It says file cannot be found.  What happened and where are they?

When songs cannot be found, it's either because they have been moved from the original location that you told iTunes, renamed or deleted.
    So have you:
    renamed songs?
moved them to a different loaction on your computer since you imported them into itunes?
deleted them since you imported them?
stored you iTunes library on an external drive? If so, that drive needs to be on and ready every time before you start iTunes.
... or is another programme renaming or even moving them, such as Windows Media Player? (It has been known to if you let it.) Did you previously use Windows Media Player?

I'm running Mavericks 10.9.3, updated iTunes earlier today, but although I can play audio CDs, DVDs will  not play, any suggestions?

    Hello there, tomazdes.
The following Knowledge Base article written for the USB SuperDrive, offers some practical steps to try when issues present themselves with particular content playback (feel free to skip Step 3 when working with an iMac or MacBook with built-in drives):
Apple Computers: Troubleshooting the slot-loading SuperDrive
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2801
    Particularly:
Accepts discs but they don't mount or are automatically ejected
Make sure the drive is not placed upside down. The aluminum enclosure should be facing up as shown in section 1.
Check the disc's surface for scratches and dirt, since these things can prevent the disc from appearing on the desktop.
Connect the MacBook Air SuperDrive directly to the computer's USB port instead a USB hub.
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).
Ensure your drive can read the specific type of disc being used. The System Profiler or System Information may provide additional information regarding what media your computer supports.
OS X Snow Leopard v10.6 or earlier: Open Apple System Profiler by choosing "About this Mac" from the Apple () menu. Then, click More Info.
OS X Lion v10.7 and later: Click the Apple () menu and then hold down the Option key. Choose System Information from the menu.
If the disc continues to not be recognized, contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or make an appointment with an Apple Retail Store.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • CDs will not play or import in iTunes?

When I insert a CD, it will not play or prompt me to play. These options are checked in the preferences. This is a new install. I even uninstalled and reinstalled. If you right click on the CD and tell it to open with Media player, it also works fine. I even reinstalled my CD/DVD software. I am using iTunes 7. Any ideas? Thanks
