Gain/loss from discontinued operation

1.Once the consolidation Unit is full divested(100%), how the revenue after discontinued period will be accounted. Because the consolidation unit is fully disposed off to external group. If the earlier holding was having Minority Interest , do we have to provide the minority interest for income from discontinued operation.
2.Can the reclassification function can be used in this context.
3.How can we facilitate the report on income from discontinued operation. Can we maintain in the company/profit center the period in which divested so that we can know the generate the report for the income from discontinued operation with reference to the data of full divesture.

Here's my understanding of how the divestiture works.
Cons Group A
- Parent A
- Sub B
Parent A owns sub B starting in 2006.  In 6/2007, Parent A divests Sub B.
In the GL, Parent A books a Gain/Loss from the sale of their company.  In BCS, the system will calculate a gain/loss from divestiture as part of the total divestiture activity in the COI.  If we have a gain of -10, BCS will book a loss as +10 @ PL30 in Cons Group A.
From an unconsolidated perspective, you are correctly showing the gain on the parents books.  At a consolidated perspective, you are still showing the Jan - June income statement from the sub until the end of the year.  BCS has offset the "unconsolidated gain" with a "consolidated loss" to prevent double counting the income.
At the end of the year, the parent's gain will roll forward into the prior year earnings.  The "consolidated loss" would offset into retained earnings and go away.  Now you only have the prior year gain sitting in the parents surplus on a go-forward basis.
Looking at the postings by BCS, I think it might help to have the divestiture gain & loss going to the same account in the COI config.  An the Gain booked in the parent on an unconsolidated GL basis needs to go to this account as well for everything to offset cleanly.
That's what I see the system posting...let me know if I'm missing something...can't hurt to have more documentation here!

  • How to post gain/loss on exchange rate from Money Market

    Dear Sap Expert,
I need your kindly help about posting gain/loss in Treasury with money market type.
My scenario use the product type 55A  - Interest rate instrument  and transaciton type = 200 borrowing in Foreign currency transaction as the transaction as belows,
Date                   Flow Type     Name                       Amouunt      currency     Exchange rate         Amt.Local currency
    19.10.2011         1105             Borrowing               10,000            USD               30.00                       300,000
    30.10.2011         1120             Final repayment       10,000            USD               30.00                      300,000
For the normally the system generate current exchange rate from the configuration .After that I try to change the Exchange rate manually in Flow type 1120 from 30.00 to be 31.00  then  the Amt.in Local currency changed to be 310,000 and the flow type gain/loss from exchange rate does not generate ( In Loan Management I can do it)
        On 19.10.2011 I use t-code TBB1 to post the borrowing transaction (1105)
On 30.10.2011 I use T-code TBB1 to post the Payment transaction but the gain/loss account does not happen.
For my question Can the system post  document for flow tpe 1120 (on 30.10.2011) with exchange rate realized gain/Loss automatically? or how should I do to make it correctly.
Thank you very much for your suggestion.

  • Compute Unrealized Gain/Loss and Provisions for Valuated Forex Contract

Your response would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Canto

    Hi  Murlidhar,
Thank you for the response.  Yes, I understand that a gain/loss can be realized based on exchange rate differences between when invoice entered/posted and when paid.  That's only part of the gain/loss in minds of the accountants.  The other part is gain/loss from time that cash was put into bank account.  For example, we spend $100 USD to purchase and deposit R$167 BRL into Brazil bank account.  Three months later that same R$167 BRL is worth only $85 USD.  At that time we post and pay Brazil invoice on same day in amount of R$167 with no exchange gain/loss on the invoice.  System posts credits of R$167 BRL and $85 USD to bank account G/L account.  System does not record gain/loss on payment because invoice currency translation date and paid date are same.  However, the bank account G/L account balance now reflects R$0 BRL and $15 USD on which system calculates a $15 USD unrealized gain/loss at month end.  This unrealized gain/loss on the bank G/L account posts and reverses each month just as you said but never goes away.  In minds of accountants the $15 USD gain/loss should be recognized.  How best to recognize the $15 USD gain/loss, that is the question.
    Thanks

  • Exchange Rate Gain Loss Error

    Dear Experts,
I am stuck in a very serious problem
In import purchase Order for raw material we have configured a condition for import duty.
Now in current scenario the import duty has been invoiced before goods receipt there is a minor difference in amount invoiced and amount entered in purchase order. When the receipt is posted for this purchase order an abnormally high amount is posted into exchange rate difference account which is charged to material.
This makes the moving price of material very high.
The currency for purchase order is Dollars. We have maintained a conversion in FI table and purchase order as well.
Please suggest as to what is causing this abnormally high amount to be posted in exchange rate difference account.
    Regards,
    Sohaib

It is a condition defined in Purchasing all the as Import Duty and calculation type is Fixed Amount.
This condition is used in import purchase order (PO currency USD). The invoice for this condition is posted in local currency which is PKR.
When Goods Receipt (105) is posted for this purchase order system doesnot convert the amount invoiced into equivalent PKR according to exchage rate specified in OB08. All amount in PKR is taken into USD with exchange rate equivalent to 1 and gain loss from this conversion is charged to material. e.g 314079 PKR is posted as 314079 USD and Gain/Loss which amounts to 27 million is charged to material. This makes MAP of material equivalent to 20000 PKR rather than 4000 PKR.

  • Forex Gain/loss posting from prior interest Accruals in capitaliization scenario !!

    Gurus,
    This is a decent question.
In SAP MM instruments, how do we post
Forex Gain/loss arisng from prior interest Accruals in capitaliization scenario !!
    1. Is it REALIZED OR UNREALIZED gain/loss?
    2. Should it even be considered Gain / Loss, in which case Accounting Entry will be like
    DR/CR Interest Accrued
    Cr/DR Interest Accrued Discount
    Please advise.
    Rahul

    Hi Rahul,
Can you explain what do you mean by prior interest acrruals in capitalization scenario.
If you have a MM product which you are capitalizing the interest , then for previous month the accrual interest posted which is already posted will remain.
I am not clear about the scenario. Care to explain it pls

  • How to handle discontinuing operations from BCS?

    Hi All,
I would like to find out how BCS handle scenario on 'Discontinuing operations' so that information pertaining to discontinuing operations and continuing operations can be clearly distinguish in Income statement and Cash Flow report.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Jasmine

    Jasmine,
I mean an infoobject that plays the role of a flag. For example it might be CHAR 1 or NUMC 1 infoobject. If it's value EQ to 0 or not set - it's usual operation. If its = 1 (or -1) - then it's discontinued.
In the report you'll place usual items into report twice, restricting them by 0 in one case (usual operations) and by 1 in another set of values (discontinued operations).
Certainly your feeder system should supply the amount of this flag.
In general, I think a separate set of items Iwithout a flag infoobject) for discontinued operations is preferrable.

  • A/R and A/P invoices and credit memo realized currency gain/loss report

    Hi,
We need some help in getting a report from SBO.
We would like to analyze their realized currency gain and loss account. We are lookiing into a report that shows the individual invoice/ credit memo foreign and local currency amount against the incoming / outgoing payment foreign and local currency amount.
Sometimes we  would do direct offset invoices in the incoming / outgoing payment, and sometimes it would be thru internal reconciliation. We have look thru the tables for the past 2 days but could not find any link between the invoices and payments especially so when reconciliation is performed.
Can this report be done either in XL Reporter or in SQL? If yes, which tables are these information store?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Whay Peng

    Hi Jimmy,
There is no need to run the exchange rate differences, when invoices that was offset during the incoming and outgoing payment. The realized currency gain/ loss account will be generated when the incoming and outgoing payment is made.
During reconcilation, yes we did run the exhange rate differences to get the realized currency gain / loss.
Could it be the two tables that you mentioned are storing information on the unrealised currency rate differences? We did not run exchange rates differences to provide for any unrealized gain/loss for the period, therefore the tables on our end is empty.

  • Disable Gain/Loss calculation for Secondary Ledger (SLA)

    Hi Apps Gurus,
Currently I have the following functional SLA requirement:
I need to disable the Gain/Loss calculation in Secondary (subledger type) Ledger for AR invoice receipts in local/ledger currency. Below is the example, as it works now:
In the source primary ledger, on the AR invoice Receipt, there is NO gain/loss line, when paying ledger currency invoice on different date. But in the subledger accounting for secondary ledger there is calculated Gain/Loss line:
Example with Invoice No: 77775 in Receivables:
    o     Primary Ledger currency: AUD
    o     Secondary Ledger currency: USD
    o     Invoice currency: AUD
     Invoice accounting entries for Primary Ledger:
    -     GL date: 19-DEC-2012
    -     Australia Spot rate for Primary ledger
    Accounted_Currency=AUD, Entered_Currency=AUD
    Revenue: Accounted_CR=4500.00 Entered_CR=4500.00
    Recoverable Tax: Accounted_CR=450.00 Entered_CR=450.00
    Receivable: Accounted_DR=4950.00 Entered_DR=4950.00
     Invoice accounting entries for Secondary Ledger:
    -     USA Spot rate for Secondary ledger
    Accounted_Currency=USD, Entered_Currency=AUD
    Revenue: Accounted_CR=4325.00 Entered_CR=4500.00
    Recoverable Tax: Accounted_CR=435.00 Entered_CR=450.00
    Receivable:     Accounted_DR=4760.00 Entered_DR=4950.00
     Receipt accounting entries for Primary Ledger:
    -     GL date: 20-DEC-2012
    -     Australia Spot rate for Primary ledger
    Accounted_Currency=AUD, Entered_Currency=AUD
    Cash: Accounted_DR=4950.00 Entered_DR=4950.00
    Receivable:     Accounted_CR=4950.00 Entered_CR=4950.00
     Payment accounting entries for Secondary Ledger:
    -     USA Spot rate for Secondary ledger
    Accounted_Currency=USD, Entered_Currency=AUD
    Cash: Accounted_DR=4855.00 Entered_DR=4950.00
    Receivable:     Accounted_CR=4760.00 Entered_CR=4950.00
    Exchange Gain: Accounted_CR=95.00 Entered_CR=0.00
And we do not need the Gain line, despite the Receivable account would not be closed for this AR Invoice in Secondary Ledger.
Is there any option, functional setup in SLA, to disable calculation of Gain/Loss in such cases?
    Many thanks in advance!
    Krasen

    Hi Ivruksha,
Thank you for looking into this case.
Of course if the Invoice was in foreign currency, there have to be a Gain/Loss line in the Primary Ledger.
But provided that in the Primary Ledger for NON-foreign currency invoice there is no FX lines, we don’t need such in the Secondary Ledger too. It’s a quite strange requirement, given the fact that the Receivable account balance will NOT be closed for this Invoice in the Sec. Ledger:
Dr: (Invoice) 4760.00$ and Cr: (Receipt) 4855.00$
So on the receipt I need the following acc. Entries for the Sec. Ledger (USD)
    Dr: Cash 4855.00$
         Cr: Receivable 4855.00$
It is normal to have such functional behavior, provided that for the similar case in Payables there is NO FX line. See the example with AP Invoice in Sec. Ledger (USD):
    Invoice GL date: 19-Dec-2012
    Dr: Item Expense 4500.00 AUD / 4725.59$
    Dr: Recoverable Tax 450.00 AUD / 472.56$
    Cr: Liability 4950.00 AUD / 5198.15$
    Payment Gl date: 20-Dec-2012
    Dr: Liability 4950.00 AUD / 5184.46$
    Cr: Cash 4950.00 AUD / 5184.46$
Fully balanced acc. entries, while the Liability account is definitely not closed from the both GL entries, which is accepted for the Secondary Ledger.
Hope this clears a bit more the case. I’ll appreciate any useful suggestions.
Of course the using “special” account code combination for recording the FX Gain/Loss in Sec. Ledger in the Account Derivation Rule as an workaround is a good option, if there isn’t any other.
    Thanks and regards
    Krasen

  • Additional line item for Exchange rate gain / loss

    HI,
We ahve three currency as Main currency (INR), group currency (INR) and Hard currency (USD).
When we pay to vendor or received from customer, system generate additional line item for Exchange rate gain / loss with Rs. Zero . But transaction is in INR. But it has value in USD as USD 0.01.
    Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Harshal

    Hi,
    I got your point.
Its a standard behaviour as part of parerral valuation with addtional local currency.
Please make sure that the below are set in your system.
    1) in OB22, for your company code, for the HARD CURRENCY--The source curr must be Translation taking first local currency as a basis
    2) For every foriegn currency you use, you maintain the exch rates in OB08 with Foriegn Currency 2 Local Currency combination always. And at the same time make sure that there is no opposite combination rates for the same.
    (Like 1 USD = 50 INR...1 GBP = 80 INR....1 EUR = 60 INR only)
These may avoid most of the cases where 0.00 LC value lines during clearing.
    Regards
    Srinu

  • AP Balances' Mess.Xcess of Realised Exchange Gain/Loss Postings.How 2 Clear

    Dear Readers,
Our project is stuck with an issue which from the onset a simple issue.
Issue being the AP balances show excess of Realised exchange gain/loss postings. The Realised Exchange gain/loss postings are in USD (i.e. Local Currency).
This creates an issue in clearing when the invoices do not match the balances and the automatic clearing is not possible.
Although reports (income statement and Balance Sheet) give matching results, but AP on the individual level (vendor wise) poses such a problem.
    Kindly enumerate the solution.
    Its a high priority issue.
Any sort of help is much sought.

  • Cash Management gain/loss calcs with autooffsets turned on

Please forward any experiences with workarounds/processes for creating exchange gain/loss journal entries for foreign currency payments. Client needs Auto Offsets on, therefore, Cash Management can not create the journal entries.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Normally exchange rate gain & loss is handled within AP when you make the payment (As long as you book the payment in the system in its proper foreign payment currency).
However, with Cash Management what you might see is a bank charge in addition to the foreign payment on one statement line.
So a bank statement line might show: GBP 125
This might represent a foreign payment in AP PLUS a charge made by your bank for processing the foreign payment.
If you are also using Oracle Receivables you can set up a 'Receivables Activity' and default it to a particular GL account (e.g. a particular gain/loss account or bank charges account). Then in Cash Management you can use this Receivables Activity to book a transaction for the bank charge.
The high-level process would be as follows:
    1. Manually reconcile the AP Foreign Payment to the statement line
    2. (While on the same statement line) click the 'Create' button. From here you can create/book a miscellaneous transaction (using any pre-defined Receivables Activity)
The point to mention is that this is obviously not automatic. But I hope it helps.

  • R12: Unrealized Gain/Loss Report cutoff

The Unrealized Gain/Loss Report will report on all open AP Invoices.
For cut-off purposes we require the report to 'cut-off' at period end:
The report should list all open invoices as of a specific accounting date, regardless if the invoice is paid when the report is submitted. It should not report any invoices with an accounting date greater than the specified accounting date.
I submitted this issue to Oracle as an enhancement request, but was wondering if anyone has a solution in the meantime, or if others would like to help push the enhancement along.

We are going with this select statement:
And then take the difference of the invoice amount * the 2 exchange rates

                        s.vendor_name,
