Garbled Email

This is what I am receiving in my Email.....not all, just some and there is no consistency. If I open the mail through my mail icon on the dock...it comes through fine. Any ideas what's happening?

This is a known issue that quite a few people are having, I believe that Blackberry is working on a fix, but there isn't a KB article that I could find easily on it.
You should probably call your Carrier's Blackberry support team to report the issue, the more that report it the faster it will get resolved.

  • Garbled email on z10

I'm having an issue with sending emails through my Z10 (verizon). Every email I send out has some kind of issue with altering text/font. May be an encoding issue?
Here's a quick example of the issues:
"The quick bro=n fox jumps over the lazy dog
    =p style="marginTop:2px">"
It gets worse with longer emails. This is really an issue because I'm unable to use this for work and therefore pretty useless to me (at least for emails).
Could this be an update issue (or lack thereof)? We're still running on 10.0 in the USA.

Their seems to be some encoding error and this is not garbage rather it is html code which you are seeing
    read this thread

  • Redirection of emails garbled-flat from Exchange 2010

When we forward email from exchange server to an external contact, recipient receives clear text or garbled emails.
When we create a rule in Outlook 2010 and forward from there it reaches fine.
What's the different between doing it from server exchange 2010 and outlook 2010?
    thoughts????  thanks

    Hi,
For the purpose of forwarding emails, there is no big difference. One is forwarding emails from Exchange server side, the other is forwarding emails from outlook side.
About the format problem, please check the following setting.
In the console tree, navigate to Recipient Configuration > Mail Contact.
In the result pane, select the contact you configured for forwarding email.
In the action pane, click Properties.
Use the General tab, check the option Use MAPI rich text format.
Never   If you select this option, messages sent to this recipient are converted to plain text.
Always   If you select this option, messages sent to this recipient are in the MAPI rich text format (RTF).
Use Default Settings   If you select this option, messages sent to this recipient are sent in either MAPI RTF or plain text, depending on the settings of the client computer from which the message is sent.
Meanwhile, please run the following command to check the format setting on the contact.
Get-MailContact “Alias” | fl UseMapiRichTextFormat, MessageBodyFormat, MessageFormat
For more information about these three parameters, please refer to this document

  • Attachments garbled in Mail

I have a friend who recently purchased a 13" Mac Book. The Store/Geniuses got it all setup for her. She also has an existing iMac at home. The issue she has now is that on the Mac Book, when she gets emails that have attachments, they come across garbled. Opening the exact emails on her iMac, things work just fine. She's using Mail on the Mac Book and Thunderbird on the iMac...
Searched here as well as Googled, but only came up with the two main culprits for garbled mail -> corrupted font cache or the existense of Helvetica Fractions or Times New Roman Phonetic. Those problems are fixes for garbled emails (subject line, mail body, etc.), not attachment specific.
I'll probably take possession of the Mac Book soon to see/test for myself, but any help in advance would be much appreciated. Will try the Font Cache Fixers as well as install TBird to see if they help.

Hello, and welcome to the Discussions.
The suggestion posted would not apply to 10.2.x, but only to 10.3 and later.
In 10.2 and earlier, this was an often seen issue, and we relied upon a program named GrimRipper, available from VersionTracker, to remove the Resource Fork that resulted from file saving in MS Word, but not the other applications in MS Office. While it would have been correctable by MS, I don't believe they ever made such a fix.
    See:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/16168
Be aware that any subsequent Save As, after ripping, will return the Resource fork.
Entourage was programmed to take care of this, as best I can remember, and the Windows Friendly option was developed by Apple, but not included until Panther.
    Ask any questions needed.

I think there are two things you can do:
    (1) Raise an SR at: http://education.oracle.com/pls/eval-eddap-dcd/OU_SUPPORT_OCP.home?p_source=OCP
    (2) Publish the credentials to yourself to see if you to have the same problem. (I'd check mine out myself but I dont have the time this morning).

  • Warning: Bogus Helvetica Font May Appear in System/Library/Fonts

I received an unreadable email message from a Windows-using friend recently. The text was a jumble of fractions. Things got weirder later that day when I noticed the same font corruption on Amazon.com and a few other sites that evidently use Helvetica. Restarting my computer cleared up the problem, but it recurred. Eventually I discovered a pair of bogus "HelveticaMM" fonts in System/Library/Fonts, which obviously did not belong there. Not only are these fonts not part of OS X's complement of System fonts; in fact, they don't even exist. There has never been a Multiple Master (MM) version of Helvetica. Logging in as Root and tossing these bogus fonts has solved the problem (hopefully for good), but the question remains: How did these fonts get into my System Fonts folder in the first place? It certainly appears that my friend's garbled email message was involved in the corruption of my System fonts, but is this possible? If so, it would be (for me, at least) my first-ever experience in more than 20 years of using Macs with System corruption caused by an outside agent.
Has anyone seen anything like this before? If so, what's your take on the cause? More to the point: How could one prevent something like this from happening again?
    Thanks!
    20-inch iMac 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Meanwhile, at least I've nuked the offending fonts.
There is nothing "offending" or illegitimate about these fonts. They are installed by OS X 10.4, not by "some application installer." They do not cause the problem of seeing fractions instead of Latin, which has been experienced and solved by hundreds of people before you. That results from a different font, Helvetica Fractions, which is not installed by OS X or by any Apple application.
Your information on OS X and MM fonts is at least 2 years out-of-date. Please read the link you were provided earlier, which is from April 2005:
    http://images.apple.com/macosx/pdf/MacOSXFontTB.pdf
    From page 9:
    "Support for industry standards
Mac OS X delivers industry-leading support for popular font formats.
    • Multiple Master. This special type of PostScript font allows variation of one or more font parameters (such as weight) to create a large number of custom styles, also known as instances. Mac OS X can activate already created instances of Multiple Master fonts."

  • Extremely slow message import after having deleted Envelope Index

    Hi,
I had some problems with garbled email messages et cetera, so I deleted the "Envelope Index"-file from ~/Library/Mail (as described on many sites).
I reopened mail, and, like expected, it asked me to import my Messages.
When I do this, at first everything goes fine, but at message 1451 it hangs, (I have about 10000 messages in total) and the "Remaining time" keeps going up.
I waited for about an hour, and Mail was still hanging on this one message.
Any ideas how to fix this?

This is my first time at forum, guys, so hopefully my story will help.
I have LR 5.3 , Canon 5D M2, Sundisk 16gb card and 2009 MacBook. LR4.4 was fast to import pictures, but 5.3 turned to be as slow as some of you had described. What happened next is a just unexpected coincidence. Usually I plug card reader into mac and open LR. This time as soon as I plugged CF card into mac computer would shut down (and not for the first time). I tried on Windows machine - same result. So I thought I lost all pictures for good. Then I reinserted card into the camera and plugged it into the mac. Canon transfer utility oped up and all pictures (89 total) were saved in less then a minute (.CR2).
At LR5 I indicated folder where pictures were saved and reimported them into LR as DNG files. Surpassingly transfer and conversion took about a minute, that is as fast as it use to be using LR4.
That's all. I wished it could be better help, but I thought this "accident" may help someone to pinpoint problem with slow transfer into LR5 from card reader.
p.s. forgot to mention that during import into LR5 some developers setting were applied, which, as I understand, will slows import.

  • Bad rules mangled my mail: how to fix?

I set up rules badly for my Mail. I had several sets of rules where *any* of two rules had to be met and then the mail was put in one mailbox or another. It turns out that all my mail met a couple of the rules!
So I started noticing a LOT of mail in these mailboxes.
Then I deleted some of the rules and moved the contents of the mailboxes back into the Inbox. Then I re-wrote the rules correctly so that only if *all* conditions were met would the mail go into one box or another. But I still had a couple mal-formed rules with the *any* option selected.
I decided to delete ALL my rules and to move all the mail from those boxes back into the Inbox.
Somewhere in the middle of doing this I noticed that recently received mail was mis-displaying. An email would have a header from one person but the body of another email! YIKES! Then search started acting up.
Also while I was doing this I was hearing Mail crunching along in the background.
I had a lot of mail accidentally put into those wrong mailboxes. So in the end, after those several partial changes, I patiently waited for all 25k emails to transfer back into my Inbox. Then I quit Mail and restarted it. It now SEEMS like some of the mal-formed mail is GRADUALLY getting better.
Is there some kind of re-indexing I should make Mail do to really fix things?
I once tried Rebuild and got into BIG trouble. (A lesson there that I vaguely recall is that you have to let it finish without interruption. I had thought that it had stalled and force-quit Mail in the middle of Rebuild.)
Or will Mail gradually re-index itself and self-recover from my mangle-ations?
I see official info on how to re-index, but don't want to do anything until I get my bearings.
    Thanks!

    RE-INDEXING WORKED!
    Mailboxes intact, etc.
    Garbled emails are fixed.

  • Exploded format deployment

    Hi,
I am looking into the weblogic documentation here where it says:
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/webapp/deployment.html#158848
"You can redeploy a Web application deployed in exploded directory format when using auto-deployment by modifying a special file called REDEPLOY. You can also cause a partial redeploy by copying a new version of a class file over an old in the WEB-INF/classes directory."
The last statement regarding partial redeploy by copying a new version of classfile, Does weblogic poll for changes in classfile timestamps?
If so, what attribute would control this?
(I am referring to regular java class (not servlet-reloadxxx))
    Thanks,
    Vijay

    Hi,
Yes this is possible in WLW8.1Sp2.
Few things to consider for the exploded directory structure to work
    1) The top level directory should always be named with a .ear extension
For ex: if you applicatio name is sampleApp
then the toplevel directory should be "sampleApp.ear"
    2) You could either create an ear and just unzip it in the production environment
    thereby preserving the extension
    or
    3) You could build the application and copy it into production environment and
rename the top level directory with a .ear extension. Just make sure you don't
have any project folders in your application folder which is not part of the application.
The need for the directory to have a ".ear" is a requirement with the way Workshop
    is designed as of now.
Let me know if you have further questions.
    Thanks a lot,

    Hy ,
id there a way to build a deployable ear in exploded format fully compatible
    with
ear standards? I mean creating a true ear structure (no split directory
    !) without
    archiving everything in an .ear?
We need being able to keep an exploded structure in prod environment
    in order
to be able to keep on using app configuration via property / xml files

  • Is anyone else experiencing screen activation issues during calls?

I got my iPhone in the first batch from VF. Since then I have not experienced any of the issues reported as common faults such as the signal loss - however, I have a new one - the screen on the phone activates itself after a length of time (sometimes a while into a call, sometimes after only a couple of minutes) - this means, when I am happily chatting away the screen activates and my face is happily touching all the buttons on the screen - majority of the 'end call' button! At first I thought I was going crazy, maybe it was me holding it funny, but now I know I'm not!
After doing a bit of googling a few o2 users have reported this issue too - does anyone else have this problem?
Its very irritating. For example, last night I was on the phone to my partner, and the call ended twice - the first time I actually managed to type out a very garbled email to someone!!

It's the proximity sensor, and there are hundreds of posts on here about it. It's not affecting every device, so make an appointment with an Apple Genius, pop instore and get it swapped out.

  • Weird characters displaying in Safari and Apple Mail

I have a macbook air 13in, its been working terrific for the last 3 weeks. However, today Apple mail is garbling email messages and Safari is not rendering web pages correctly? I tried rebooting, shutting down my router, everything, still there.
Strangely, Chrome is rendering the pages without any issues.
What possibly could be wrong? Does anyone else have this issue?
    Any help is appreciated.

I fixed my issue, here is what I did:
    1. Delete Safari
    2. Downloaded it and re-installed.
    3. Did the same for Google Chrome which was crashing on adobe flash consistently.
    4. All better now for Apple Mail, Safari, and Chrome.
Somehow some Safari file must have gotten corrupted.

  • Since 10.5.6 upgrade, email messages are garbled text

    Hi,
This problem seems to have started with the latest upgrade. My email messages are coming in with garbled text. This happens in my Yahoo account where I will go to the mail website and the text there will be fine. It's only in the mail program.
    Thanks in advance,
    Pete.

    Hi,
    I have the same issue.
Although the mails seems to have been downloaded correctly parts of the parts of the message mime information is displayed as part of the mail body.
The only thing that helps is to rebuild the index of the specific mailbox (inbox in my case).
BTW: Mail of iPhone OS does NOT have this problem. Generally it handles mails MUCH better than the real OS X. Strange, isn't it.

Ok...with your document, go to file, then go to save as (if this is not on your options then hold the ALT key and select Save As.)
Next, Select where you want to save it .. e.g DESKTOP. Your menu should look like this.
Then Click the box that says "save copy as word document" so it now should look like this"
Press SAVE then you're done, make sure when you email the document, create the new email, then open finder, go to desktop and find the file with the last bit saying .doc then drag this into the email. Hope this helps.

There is nothing garbled in there. What you posted are the headers of your original message. You didn't post the message itself.
Why your email friend has chosen to display all headers I don't know. You may tell him to switch that off.
In any case, how is this related to Thunderbird?

  • Email text garbled in received emails

After years with no issues, all of a sudden a number of emails I'm receiving have strange characters instead of readable text. It's always the same capital A inside a box. The same messages show up fine on my phone, and I can read them (mostly) if I choose to see the raw source. What's causing this, how do I fix it, and why is it happening now? I'm using OS X 10.9.2.

    Hi lexrudolf,
I understand you are using 10.9 Mavericks and in Mail you have seen several emails coming in with strange text. The following article does say Mountain Lion, but I would suggest following the same exact steps to get this resolved.
