Garbled sound

When I play a camtasia training video the sound is garbled .
I cannot hear the instructor.clearly.
What would cause this??
and how do I go about fixing.

Camtasia Studio (Techsmith) has a download "SWFMP3FIXER"
which fixes the .swf file, but this is for content authors or if
you've downloaded the full movie folder.
I'm a content author and I'm livid about the results of
Adobe's most recent FlashPlayer update, which has literally broken
the sound on videos that are played from CDs/DVDs and online. It
literally has broken videos that have played normally up until
their Flash Player 9.0.115.0. update!
Why they don't make this a priority to fix (it's been over a
month) I have no idea!
Hundreds if not thousands of content authors have been
affected by this. Some probably aren't even aware of it yet!
DVDs and CDs that have been sold using the html/flash mp3
compression will NO LONGER work. They NEED TO FIX THIS ASAP!

I have a X-Fi Platinum Fataity, running on Win XP SP3.
I have been using the card without issue for a fair few months, and of late have been using it to record podcasts with an external mic and mixer. Today I tried to record - with Creative Sound Recorder - and the result was <a rel="nofollow" href="http://stainlesssteelrat.net/_What U Hear__06-0-2009_7-25-38.mp3]this (click link to download MB MP3 file)[/url]. It sounds like a partly garbled and partly sped up file to me.
I tried recording with Creative WaveStudio 7, same problem. Tried recording with Windows Sound Recorder, same problem.
I then ran Autoupdate, and updated the drivers as well as all the applications it found. Same problem.
Any ideas as to what is wrong?

Yep, it's in Audio Creation mode. I can't spot any relevant recording settings in the Audio Control panel, although none of these have been changed since the install. I'm 99.9% sure it isn't the microphone, as the recordings all appear slowed down, hence the playback is sped up. I don't see how the microphone itself would/could affect that. I have tested both the line in on the soundcard, and on the I/O panel. Still the same problem.
In fact if I just record the Windows environment, by playing a music track and using Smart Recorder with "What U Hear", it *still* records in a slowed down fashion, and in turn produces a sped up recording. So it cannot be related to the microphone.
Could this be a faulty soundcard?

Try reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings for Wi-Fi, FaceTime, Message, Home Sharing will be reset

Scratchy, distorted, garbled sound from MP3s files

I'm having really horrible scratchy, distorted, garbled sound from MP3 files. AAC encoded files play extremely clearly on iTunes 10.5

After reviewing all comments, it appears that this issue is squarely with the 10.5 upgrade that Apple did on I tunes. I have done all the uninstall and re-install that you can do. Songs play fine on some, terrible on others, but yet they all will play on Windows Media Player. I can't believe it is the chipset for those that AMD processors, because everything was fine on the 10.4. So, Apple please fix this or offer us a way to uninstall from the 10.5 to the 10.4 where everything should be okay. Awaiting your reply with thousands of others!

Question Random Distorted / Garbled Sound In Windows XP Home

I have laptop Pavilion dv5282ea and sometimes sound gets garbled / distorted. Listen to this. Note that this happens only when music/video is playing, i mean only when there should be any sound coming off. I had this problem in the beginning when i purchased laptop, but as a few years passed by, problem disappeared. 2 weeks ago i formatted and reinstalled Windows XP and now this problem came up again. Should i put headphones on, or listen through built-in speakers, problem is still there which should indicate that the problem is with sound card or drivers. When i am watching online video, the problem happens, but i have noticed that if i start playing music in Winamp, the problem disappears or sometimes gets gets garbled, until i stop music from playing. I often heard this garbled sound after resuming from standby.
My audio driver version is 3.23.0.0. I installed latest driver 3.23.0.0 A but nothing changed and it still shows old driver.
What should i do to fix this problem?

Can you please download the latest BIOS update for your notebook and also update Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (sp32646). I would also recommend you to update the Intel Chipset Installation Utility for ICH7 and this should resolve your issue.

Reports of 17.0.0.169 with garbled sound and vid on rtmp streaming w/jwplayer?

I run a website that uses live streaming rtmp to the jwplayer6 video player. Starting today, some viewers who downloaded Adobe Flash player 17.0.0.169 are getting very garbled sound and video that speeds up/slows down. This is happening on a number of users on various platforms: Win 7, Win 8.1, Linux and various browsers; Firefox, Safari, Opera, and IE (reported so far). Some folks are reporting it happens only on Firefox and not Chrome. Thoughts? How to proceed? We are telling our users, unfortunately, uninstall the latest version of Flash and rollback.

I'm and end user getting disastrous garbling and speeding via Ustream Streams.One broadcaster I watch was able to almost elimate the issue by reducing the quality of the outgoing content I believe. It would be beneficial if you contacted Ustream yourself so they can notify their subscribers of a work around.

We would be more than happy to share technical details with them on how to configure the streams to work around the issue. S10, Windows Live Messenger & garbled sound

My little S10 doesn't seem to have any problems with sounds at all - at least during more normal use. However, when using Live Messenger, the voice sound that is coming out of the speakers is all horribly garbled and isn't really recognizable. My other machines that are "talking" to it don't have any problems at all. Video playback is fine and smooth. I have fiddled with the Realtek HD settings on the Control Panel and nothings seems to effect it.
Using a Bluetooth seems to correct it though. The driver set that was shipped with the machine is R2.07 even though the most recent drivers at support are R2.05. I would really like to get this working correctly.
Any ideas?

I have both the Optia and Optia pro. Tested both in XP and Vista, on a clean o/s install with new drivers. The Optia pro cannot successfully use the Exposure setting without a massive framerate drop, which in effect makes the camera pretty much useless on both XP and Vista. No published articles with a resolution so my guess is it was shipped in a non-working state. I'll be keeping my Optia as it's fine, but I'm returning the Optia Pro to the store today.

Zen Micro - Garbled Sound.

Hey guys,
Im new to this Zen Micro thing, because i just acquired it broken from my sister. She got this thing on Christmas, and about a month after, broke it. Right now, it plays all the songs, connects to the computer, and its library is fine. The problem is that the sound becomes garbled/wangy about 20 seconds after the song starts playing. Usually, the songs are ok for the first few seconds, but then the sound becomes wavering and it sounds like the music is under a destortion setting.
I guessed this probably isn't a firmware problem, hopefully not a hardware problem, but i was told that it was a problem with a soldering point, and i would need to RMA it.... Im not sure if this is true, and would be REALLY happy if i could fix it before i go on my trip in a couple days. Anyone else have this kind of problem?

Im reformatting it, disk clean up, and upgrading the firmware as we speak. I will proceed to put new music on it and then test it through the computer (if that is possible which i think it is). If i can plug speakers into it also, I will . Ill let you guys know how it goes, but in the mean time, any other suggestions or experiences with this situation? Thanks!

K72NG-ILSR media plays too fast / garbled sound

Using both Windows Media Player and Winamp. Both video and audio playback is too fast in both programs. The video skips frames and the audio skips and sounds garbled. However, when I play sound through Windows Sound Recorder, it is OK. Playback is also OK using WinDVD player. I was directed by MSI support to download the latest group of drivers, entitled "Nvidia nForce2 System Driver" at http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_list.php?part=1 . Will one of you guys with a similar setup please go to Device Manager and tell me what version of audio driver & Codec driver is the latest for the onboard sound? I'm not sure this is the problem, but it is a good place to start.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Sorry about this, I saw later in your signature you are running Windows 98.I tried to edit my reply, but to no avail. V7 Major Playback Bug - Garbled Sound

Just upgraded to iTunes V7. Now I cannot play anything from within iTunes. When playing a song, it is just garbled. You can hear the song enough to tell what it is. But it is severly distorted. More of a "repeating warbling" type sound. Like a scratched record that is playing the same section over a few times before moving on. Also, when I double click a song to play, it takes 12-15 seconds before any sound at all comes out.
In my other players, like Windows media, songs play just fine. All other audio seems OK. Just now cannot play anything in iTunes V7.
I have had iTunes since at least version 4 or 5, and upgraded everytime a new version came out. Each time with no issues until now.
Using Windows XP, SP2
2 Gig RAM
2 Terabytes Data storage
AMD 4800 Dual processor
Sound Card - Creative Emu 1212
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...

Ive also seen similar issues when the Windows sound playback device is set to an application. The article above shows you howto get to Sounds and Audio Devices, you can change the sound playback device from the audio tab.

Garbled sound NF4/Sound Blaster XFi Gamer with over 4GB memory

Sound is garbled, some people say it is popping, scratchy. System is: MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI, Opteron 185, 4 GB DDR 500 Memory, Sound Blaster XFi Extreme Gamer Sound Card and ATI HD 4850. This is a clean install of Windows 7 64 Home. Latest Creative drivers for Win7 cause sound to sound broken up or garbled. The work around is to lower the amount of memory windows can use below 4 GB, through msconfig. This work around gets the sound working, but windows now shows I have 3.25 GB of memory. The drivers seem to be the problem and I would like to know it anyone else has had this problem and what they did about it?

Other than that, after updating, I've seen a driver update, the sound was clear again, but went through the same pattern of progressively degrading, and after one or two hours, it's back to where it was... So it seems to me that this is quite definitely the driver, but I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. And the sound seems to remain clear on windows, so it's definetely an Arch issue...

Blurred video & garbled sound on one end of ichat

I have been video chatting with my son for a couple of years with excellent audio/video. I was using a MAC G4 dual 1GHZ tower. I recently switched to an intel mac mini. I also have a mac book pro 17 inch. Ever since switching to my intel macs, my video is blurred and my audio garbled on his end. His video and audio remains excellent on my end. I am using the same isight camera as before. My ichat bandwidth limit is set at 1 Mbps (I have tried other settings with no improvement). I have a comcast cable connection and have tested down (3138) and up (1530) speeds. I am using an airport express but have tried a direct connection to the mini with no improvement. Strangely, My macbook pro A/V using the built-in cam gives the same results exactly. Quicktime streaming is set on 1 Mbps cable. No changes have been made on the distant end. Any ideas on this?

You kind of lost me there. I have nothing even close to your example of HTTP://myip.dk/. My IP address consists of nine digits. I have no problem connecting to the internet. When I am not using ichat, download/upload speeds are what I have had all along regardless of G4 or duo core. While I don't normally do it, I can use both my macbook Pro and my mini connected at the same time and maintain good internet speeds. When either the mini or the mac book pro launches ichat, then internet speeds suffer and ichat video is blurred. My ISP has never been interested in any device beyond my cable modem. I normally use an airport express but direct connection to the cable modem does not change results.

[SOLVED] Garbled sound in Skype with particular microphone

I've been using my Turtle Beach headset painlessly with Skype and Arch for months. Yesterday, a friend told me that he couldn't understand a word I was saying over voice chat, so I performed a test call, and my sound input was being sent in double speed with very poor quality.
I tested with some other applications (Mumble and recordMyDesktop), and the sound came through just fine. Today, I did another test call, and switched to my laptop's built-in mic, and there was no sound problem.
I use PulseAudio and ALSA to manage my sound. This mic and Skype have played nice up until just recently, and I can't put my finger on what could be going wrong. It's only this application with this particular input device.
Any ideas?

Not sure what the problem is yet, just wanted to give a "me too" post so you know that you're not alone.
The headset I'm having problems with is a Microsoft LifeChat LX-2000.
EDIT: Let's try and get to the cause of the issue.
I've tried a regular microphone on the line-in port in my soundcard, that works ok.
So I'm guessing it's USB driver related? Is your headset on a USB port or does it use the mic/line-ic port on your PC?
I've also tried plugging it into USB2 instead of USB3, same thing.

I hear a static(garbled )sound on the left speaker when i use iTune?

This started only when i updated to OS.X version 10.9.I tis a STATIC sound that becomes more evident at higher volume levels!
I have tried:
1) i have tried the equalizer solution.problem still there.
2) tried the Repair Disk permissions route.problem still there.
3) deleting the system preference(.plist files).problem still there.
HELP please.I had a perfect itunes before this upgrade w Mavericks.
