GeForce 7950 GX2 compatability with K8N DIAMOND(ms 7100, NO PLUS)

hi i would like to find out whether GeForce 7950 GX2 is compatable with K8N DIAMOND(ms 7100, NO PLUS). How well does it work with this motherboard? and also, does it work better than two 7900GTs on SLI mode? whats the recommended powersupply for it if i were to use it. thanks.

I have talked with some folks that have that combo and from what I gather there is no issues with it. I was going to grab one but they were not available so I got the 7900GTX instead. PSU though is an important decission. As far as I can tell the PSU I use and have in my siggy should be fine but I have not tested it as I did not get my card. The amps did show it should be fine so long as I did not use two of those cards in SLi.

Yep the thread is long winded and a bit bizar in places if you were not in on the original conversation.
However it does give a load of info to work with if you have a Diamond board. We discuss parts, Overclocking and various other topics of interest.
Some say we should publish that thread to put some poor slobs in colledge to sleep.

  • Anoying issue with K8N Diamond PLUS and overclocking.

I just got the motherboard wehn i overclock and restart the PC either from windows or BIOS etc. The PC will not boot and have to turn it off then turn back on. Apart from this annoying issue it's a great board better theen my A8N SLi Premium mostly due to the extra CPU voltage yay :D Is anyone else getting this issue?

    AMD Athlon64 X2 4400+ @ 2766MHz (1.6v)
    2GB Crucial Tracer PC4000

  • Clicks with K8N Diamond Plus

    Guys,
Maybe some one here can solve this one.
As you can see in my sig: I have a K8N Diamond Plus board and I love it! Rest of the specs are in my sig as well. I have a weird thing with it for some time, but it seems to be getting worse or, putting it right, it occurs more and more.
The pc is running just fine. Sometimes there's coming two clicks out of the case, about 1/2 a second after each other. It sounds like a mechanical something, but I'm unable to locate where it comes from. The pc simply keeps on working. No hangs, no BSOD's, it's fine. The only thing is that the sound is interupted shortly with each click.
    To make it visible:
    ------------------click-----click-------------
    - = computer noise
    # = music playing
When I watch a movie, the same happens. Video-playback, however, isn't interupted at all.
Does anyone have any suggestion what this could be?
    Thanks!
    Hans
PS: I had a simular setup first with the K8T Neo2 board. The problem never occured with that board, so I asume it's the mobo that's doing this somehow.

Well, I'm unable to find any problems. There's no data losses or whatever.
@Bosskiller: are you saying that this could be normal?
Do you know if WD Raptors make this sound? Or maybe Seagate Barcuda's (SATA-II)?
The more I try to locate the sound, it looks like it's one of the Raptors (or both).
yes sound normal for me, for Raptor don't know, for seagate think no, HITACHI(my currently doing the same), and Maxtor(DM 9 got before also making click/click)

  • Cant Overclock With K8N Diamond Plus

I recently upgraded from stock cooling and thought I would give overclocking a try. I have a K8N Diamond Plus with the latest BIOS on the MSI site. When I change any settings in the BIOS to overclock they do not work. They are saved in the BIOS, just not showing in Windows. For example, I set the FSB to 210 just to test, but when I check Nvidia Monitor it still shows the FSB at 200 and the CPU is still running at stock. What could be the problem?

    hello,
update your BIOS to ver. 3.0A should be fine. ----->  https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=101664.0

  • Cant enter Bios Setup with K8N Diamond

Anyone know whats going wrong here ....
K8N Diamond (Bios 1.7), Athlon64 3700+, 2 x 1Gb Corsair XMS-PRO 3200, ATI x300 PCI-E Graphics, 2 x WD 74GB Raptors in Raid 0 on Nvidia Raid, 1 x Samsung 120gb SATA drive on Sil controller. Running Windows x64 on the WD Raid setup and Win2k on the Samsung drive.
Everything running at stock speeds/voltages etc.
Both Windows x64 and Win2k are running stable - absolutely no problems at all. (Use F11 at bootup to select bootup option).
Problem is that I cant get into the bios setup. Pressing F2 at startup just makes the system hang. Anyone any ideas.
    cheers
    Kryten

    Hello !
I am not really sure, but wasn´t the "Delete" key the way to enter Bios Setup Menu ??
If not i am sorry.......try another Brand of Keyboard. Cahnaging from USB to PS/2 Keyboard could also help.

  • New K8N Diamond SLI or ?Plus

    Hi,
Need you help here with a question ...
I am looking to buy a K8N Diamond and want to mount it in a Lian-Li PC-V1000 which means the MOBO has to be inverted (upside down) will this affect my cooling pipe??? Am I able to use it in that configuration?
Also anyone have any 'drawbacks' about this MOBO ?
    Thanks in advance ... Jim

    That's a head-scratcher
I would think that turning it upside down would cause the cooling medium (whatever's in that pipe) to flow AWAY from that heatsink. Since the whole thing's based on the principle of heated material rising because it becomes less dense...
But you're right in questioning it though. Wonder how many haven't bothered to think about that one.
Actually the company (ASUS too - they use a simliar design on their 2x16 mobo) hasn't even thought that through - if that's indeed that way it works, they ought to warn people not to invert the mobo!
BTW, jimbob - add "Plus" onto Diamond in the subject. The "old" Diamond isn't made that way...

  • Will the XFX 7950 GX2 work with my k8n neo 4 MOTHERBOARD?

    Thanks in advance.
FYI, I do not have the platinum version

Yes..Some may mobo may need to flashed the new BIOS in order the VGA to recognised it. GD luck. BTW please create your own rig in details including the Bios revision and PSU and put it into our signatures like mine so others can help you!!

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M compatibility with Adobe CC?

It seems really odd that a late 2013 iMac wouldn't be able to run Adobe CC on it - or, at least, wouldn't be able to support Adobe CC with its Graphics card. The graphics card is GeForce GTX 775M, and I've just been told that the software can't be supported by it. Will there ever be support, or an updates that will allow this?

  • Strange findings with K8N DIamond/Platinum SLI and BIOS 3.6

Having toiled for weeks trying to get my machine to run at 1T timings fully stable at memory speed 550DDR, I have finally done it.
What you have to do is this...make sure that your NB voltage is the same or greater than your CPU Voltage.
I had my CPU at 1.45+6.6% =1.546v and my NB at 1.5v. This would not work.
I found out by accidentally putting 1.6v through the NB and Voila!
Not only that but the RAM is now doing great at 285MHz (570DDR with 2.5-4-4-8 1T at 2.80v).
All been stable through all benchmarks and SuperPi/Memtest for 2 days in total now.
    Updating my profile to match.
    My God it feels good.
I hope that this helps some folk who have stability problems in any area.

I have not tried the 3.7 BIOS, as it is all working well. I don't want to inherit any new bugs...I'll wait until someone tests it all properly.
I wish that the 183 mem divider would be put back, I'm having to adjust it from 166 to 183 with A64Tweaker on startup.
Anyone know if 3.7/1.7 has the 183 divider?
Yes I was only successful current CPU speed with BIOS 3.2, 3.5 and 3.6, so try 3.6 and maybe 3.7 with my settings...you might be lucky.
After you have flashed your BIOS, reset the CMOS button TWICE...and make sure that the PSU has no power going into it and you have no seperately powered USB devices attached while you reset it (This has found to be the case for me with my USB Keyboard/mouse devices), otherwise it will not reset properly and some of your old bugs could still be there.
What week Venice CPU do you have...0517 is mine and it is so far one of the best batches...this could make a difference in some cases.

  • K8n Diamond SLi 7100 and OCZ PC4800 RAM

    Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if the OCZ PC4800 DDR600 2.5-4-4-10 Dual Channel RAM works ok in this board?
I know it needs 2.85v which is achievable, but would like to know if it will work with these "picky" motherboards.
The OCZ spec says that it is tested at 2T and will work at 1T in some boards....does this include the Diamond board?
Failing that the next best would be Adata Vitesta PC4800 modules, but these need more volts and run at CAS3....and cannot get higher volts without a mod.
    Any info would be great.

Most boards I've used have dual channel on the bank 1 & 3 or 2 & 4 but my board has it on bank 1&2 or 3&4. Is this the usual setup for MSI? Seems a little strange, I was going to buy ram with heat spreaders but I don't think they will fit.
they fit. i have heatspreaders on mine and had no problems. also there are many users using corsairs, which have the bulkiest heatspreader around.
