GeForce GTX 780 and Premiere CC 2014 footage issues on Win 8.1

Hey everyone
I just bought a PC media workstation, having been a Mac guy for 15 years.  As I was installing apps, AU, AE, Cinema4D all worked as expected. But PR literally would chug when playing back almost any footage (in this case mostly my ProRes422HQ from my BMPC). The playhead moved, I heard audio but the picture never changed.  Even the low-quality h264 proxy footage I tested performed like this.
Interestingly, whether I was enabling GPU based editing in Premiere or not, it had no effect whatsoever.
I talked w/ the guys at Mediaworkstations.net and we narrowed it down to what we think is an issue between of graphics card support from Adobe.  I even retro-installed CC and CS6 and both had the same results.  Was hoping someone from Adobe would speak into this and offer some help.
Motherboard: Asus P9X79-E WS
CPU: Xeon E5-2680 v2, 2.8Ghz 10-core
Video: NVidia GeForce GTX 780 Superclocked

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Hi John, thank you for the reply!  Argh, can't believe I forgot to post that info...  Here's the specs, and I did go download Nvidia's installer for the driver so hopefully it is all well.

  • Keine CUDA Beschleunigung mit GeForce GTX 780 Ti [MSI N780Ti (MS-V298)] ?

    Hallo Forum,

  • Z77A-GD65 issues with Geforce GTX 780 Video Card

    Hey Guys,
I have a issue with a new PC build.
I think it may be a driver or BIOS setting issue, I hope
I bought a MSI Z77A-GD65 motherboard and below are the specs:
    - Intel Core i7-2600 CPU 3.4 Ghz
    - BIOS Version E4451IMS V10.8
    - Balistix Sport 8GB sticks (Total of 24 GB memory installed)
    - Kentek 875w power supply
    - Geforce GTX 780 Graphics Card
My problem is with the Geforce GTX 780 video card, I installed a fresh install of Windows 7 64 bit and
everything runs and works fine, but when i install the Geforce GTX 780 video card and install the
drivers its all good up to this point but when i restart the computer i get this message in the device
manager ""Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (code 43)"
I have installed different versions of the driver, a few older and few newer versions with the same
    outcome.
I tried to flash the BIOS to the latest version 10.11 but had problems with it picking up my harddrive
after it flashed successfully. I even checked the boot up setting and it all looked good just would not
boot up, so i had to revert back to the v10.8 BIOS version for it to work.
I'm not sure if there is a setting in the BIOS that i need to turn on or off. I'm not familar with this BIOS,
is there a place in it so i can see if the BIOS is picking up the video card, it has to or Windows would
    not see it right?
I'm stumped here, do you guys know of a Geforce driver version that works well with this video card?
I truely think the card is fine because when i install the card to the motherboard i dont get any weird
issues until the driver is installed and Windows is restarted.
I would greatly appreciate any help and advise that you guys can give me.
    Thanks alot

    UPDATE
Well i wanted to post an update on my new build issue.
    Here are my specs:
    I bought a MSI Z77A-GD65 motherboard with BIOS v10.8
    - Intel Core i7-2600 CPU 3.4 Ghz
    - BIOS Version E4451IMS V10.8 (i had a issue with the newest BIOS flash v10.11 it wouldn't detect the harddrive, could figure that one out so i went back to v10.8)
    - Balistix Sport 8GB sticks (Total of 32 GB memory installed) I first had 3 sticks so i got another 8GB stick to fill all 4 banks for total of 32 GB
    - Corsair Professional Series 860 Watt Digital ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Platinum Power Supply AX860i (Bought this PS to replace the Kentek PS)
    - N780 TF 3GD5/OC (GeForce GTX 780 GAMING) (traded Geforce GTX 780 card for the MSI version of the GTX 780 card)
OK... I got the new Corsair 860w power supply installed and i installed the new MSI GTX 780 video card with the specs above everything installed fine no problems and my son was playing the Bio Shock Infinite game on Steam and about 1 hour into the game he got a blue screen of death, says something like "to prevent damage windows is now resetting" and it turns off so fast can't read the rest of the message.
I'm going to here in a little bit and update all device drivers with MSI Live update utility and also update the motherboard BIOS again to v10.11.
I'm really confused here, I'm also going to take out some memory and try to run it with sticks only in slot 2 & 4 to see if it runs more stable like that, also should i update the video card to the latest driver, i know the latest is not always the greatest driver.
I want to think you guys again for your help & time with this issue. I really dont know what else to do here, everything is new in this PC.
    Thanks

  • MSI GeForce GTX 780 SLI question.

    Hi,
I wonder if my MSI GeForce GTX 780 Gaming OC is compatible with the MSI GeForce GTX 780 Lightning LE in SLI?
    Thanks!
    BR, Tobias

as long as both cards are using the same GPU (GTX 780 GK110) and they both have the same amount of VRAM (EG: 3GB+3GB) then they will be able to be used in SLI as long as your PSU can power both of them!
you can use SLI even with different manufacturers cards so long as its the same spec (GPU) as the other and the VRAM frame buffers match each other as both need the same amount!

  • Installing NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 problem

I have QU297AA#ABG h8- 1130a as bought from retail and planned to do some upgrades. I purchased the NVidia GeForce GTX 780 Graphics Card and was told I would also need a 600W or better power supply, so I also purchased a 750W one. I have installed everything correctly (to my knowledge) and when I try to boot up the PC, it reaches the welcome screen which is blue and with the HP logo asking me to "press escape for startup menu". That does not work and the PC then beeps 4 times with long pauses in between before changing to a black screen at which I have to hard shut down the PC.
I know that the power supply is fine becuase when I saw back to the graphics factory card, it is fine. I have read a lot of support FAQs and they have told me to update the BIOS and to uninstall my old graphics driver. I have done both and the problem still persists. I have upgraded my BIOS from AMI 7.09 22/7/2011 to AMI 7.12 12/10/2011 which was the latest available.
According to the EVGA manual, the beeping sounds are from one of the following:
    1. The card is not seated properly (unlikely).
    2. There is a problem with the motherboard's graphic card slot (impossible, as the other one works).
    3. Supplemental PCI-E power is not connected to the graphics card (it most definetely is).
    4. Graphics card problem (unlikely, it is brand new).
It then says the problem is probably with the motherboard and to contact you.
I hope this has been enough information but I would like to know all of my options.

I will take a look at the specs on your MOBO o see which PCIe spec the slot is. The specs don't state the version. I will have to ask an HP internal source. It may take a day for me to get back to you, but as soon as I know, you will as well.

  • N780 Lightning (GeForce GTX 780 LIGHTNING) wich psu do i need?

Hi guys in a couple of weeks im gonna buy this N780 Lightning (GeForce GTX 780 LIGHTNING) http://eu.msi.com/product/vga/N780-Lightning.html
I need to know which or what kind of power suply unit i need to buy, willing to spend about 130 euro's
    My system looks like this:
    AMD FX-8320
    fxa990-gd80
16gb of value ram ( i know it sucks, will be upgraded later!)
    2tb HD
cpu cooler is a neptin with 2 120mm fans
And i have one big fan in the front side of my case
Thanks in advance for your input!

Minimum psu requirement is 42A and 600W. Make sure to go for a quality single rail psu. Corsair psus have proved to work flawlessly while being at a good price point. To have some headroom go for a higher class psu than needed. A 750 - 800W psu like CX750 or GS800 would be good and saving money. High end would be TX or HX series psus.

  • Compatibility of Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 Ti for Premiere Pro

    Hi,
I am upgrading my workstation and plan to buy a good quality graphic card which will support smooth editing of 1080p footage and some after effects rendering.
I chose GTX 780 Ti but unfortunately in the compatibility list provided by Adobe, only GTX 780 is supported. So if GTX 780 Ti is used, can I use the Mercury Playback Engine and take full advantage of the graphic card?
Also is my select correct? I was at first confused selecting between Nvidia  Quadro K4200 and GTX 780 Ti. I will not be using Maya or 3D Max. Only Premiere Pro, After Effects and sometimes Da Vinci Resolve will be used.
    Thanks,
    Srijit

Yeah, it works great as mentioned in the table with recommended video cards, if you have at least:
An overclocked I7 6+ core CPU, or Dual E5 6+ core CPU's, and
    64+ GB RAM, and
800+ MB/s transfer rates on all volumes.
Otherwise it is overkill and the card will be idle most of the time. See Tweakers Page - Exporting Style

  • No CUDA acceleration from GTX 780 Ti - Premiere Pro CC & After Effects CC   ?

    Hi,
I recently upgraded my computer to accomondate my move to Adobe CC on PC:
    Windows 8.1 64-bit
    Latest Nvidia drivers
    Intel i7 4930K @ 4.5GHz
    2x GTX 780 Ti SLI
    32GB DDR3 2400MHz RAM
    2x SSD Vertex 2 60GB @ raid0
When I'm rendered clips using both Mercury Playback Software Engine Software Only and Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA), the program behaves exactly the same and it takes the same time to do the rendering.
Exporting a 6 minute clip takes well over 2 hours to render - which obviously cannot be right.
Is there a setting I'm missing?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • GeForce GTX 780M and After Effects

I just got a brand new iMac with the GeForce GTX 780M 4GB of VRAM, and I was hoping I could use the Ray-tracing 3D effects. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong, but the option to switch to GPU is greyed out. I have not installed anything except After Effects since I got the machine, so maybe I need to install CUDA? Where would I go about finding the drivers for that so I could try it.
    Thanks,
    David Faircloth

    > Kinda irrates me that Adobe doesn't keep the list up to date.
It's not as if Apple sends us hardware to test with. We wish. Nvidia, Dell, HP, and others do, which is why you see so many of the Quadro K series on our tested-and-supported list before the cards are even released.
We test GPUs based on customer requests and depending on when the hardware becomes available to us.
Note, however, that this is all moot since as I said in my first post, we have made it easy for you to use GPUs before we can get around to testing them and issuing an update.

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670MX and Quadro K1000M

Can the GeForce GTX 670MX or the Quadro K1000M support GPU acceleration in premiere pro?

Check the Tech Specs on teh product page. What's not listed is not supported for Mercury, it's as trivial as that. Both cards will still support the more conventional OpenGL acceleration, though.

  • Nvidia GeForce GTX 285 and Snow Leopard

Are the latest Nvidia GeForce GTX 285 drives included in Snow Leopard?
I ordered my 285 with my copy of Snow Leopard, and I plan to do a clean install of SL then install the 285. I wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to need to install the drivers that come with the card since I read those were not up to par.
    Thanks,
    --Jaime

I have the GTX 285 also in 10.6 and its great... Though I think that the drivers are gonna get better over time. On my MacBook Pro (June '07) it took them till Feb. '08 to make the drivers never crash and run decent. Then after that, i wasn't till 10.5.6 that it really started getting close to the FPS of when you run the same program or game in Windows XP or Vista (since their drivers get alot more love).
For intance I get better framerates in Second Life in Windows 7 on my Mac Pro than I do in Snow Leopard, and I can promise you it's the GPU drivers. Sometimes I wish Apple would hire an extra GPU coder or two.
