Generate report (just data out) from strip chart (DEADLINE LOOMING!!)

I have a VI that contains a dual strip chart ( Scalar data / Double precision floating point numbers) running in a while loop. One of the strips contains pressure information, the other contains deflection information. I need to know how to gather that data as it is recorded, save it to some kind of container during testing, and then output it in a format that I can see columns on Wordpad. Still waiting for MSOffice on my machine. I have tried several approaches, all of which ended in generating only the last 2 values measured. THis is a VI I just threw together yesterday, and it will be relaced by a (nearly completed) state machine next week. I just need something to hold me over until then... I have very little time left before my boss, who thinks LabVIEW is "Black Magic" comes back here to see my test run!!

Thanks LVGWB!!! You are a guru. I used the example to which you pointed. It worked great. I think I will still have my job. Being a newbie it is kind of overwhelming all of the "apparent" choices available. I appreciate you steering me to a good one.  Chris

  • After Generate Report Get Data to Modify.vi, the unbundle doesn't work right.

I'm fairly new to the program, interning at a local company.  I activated LabVIEW 8.5 on two additional computers right as rain, but for some reason, on one of them, certain VIs, such as excel.llb\append report data (str).vi, do not execute.  The broken arrow points to the unbundle by names, which take place after a Generate Report Get Data to Modify.vi .  I took a look at the online evaluation version of LabVIEW 8.5 on the NI website, but the only differences between the working block diagrams online and the ones on my computer are that the ones on my computer don't have blue names.  I clicked on the names online and several options appeared.  I clicked on the names in the VI block diagram on my computer, and it didn't even have the option that it had by default.  It's like the Get Data to Modify isn't passing any, or the right information.
Additional info:  I had this problem on the other computer, but I just re-copied the files and it worked fine.  That didn't happen with this one.  Also, the same version of Office is installed on both of them.  The biggest difference between that desktop and my work laptop is just that the desktop had the instruments I'm working with attached to it already.  Could that be it?

    Hello,
Are you sure that you have the Report Generation Toolkit completely installed on the computer where you are seeing the issue?  This may be available in the evaluation version, but not in your copy if you have not purchased it.
Also, I cannot find any VI titled excel.llb\Excel excel.llb\append report data (str).vi, could you double check this name so that others can help you out?  If you do not have full functionality, I would assume that not all of the components are installed completely.

  • Code generate report in excel format from portal(Application Server)

    Hi all
Please give some solution with code generate report in excel format from
    oracle portal(Application Server).

    Not feasible.
Why? Because "the Excel format" is a binary and proprietary Microsoft file format. And writing a generator to generate Excel files will be complex, and resource expensive. In the vast majority of cases this will not be justified.
As an alternative the very basic Microsoft XML office format can be used. But note that this is not a a ISO standard (it has been shot down in flames) - and effort and resources for that would be better spend on the Open Document XML standard (which very likely will be ratified as the ISO standard instead).
Of course, you could have meant a CSV file - in which case, you need to play close attention to details. CSV is not an Excel format. A software designers and developers, our success is determined by attention to technical detail. In which case you are not paying any attention to technical detail by confusing CSV with Excel.

  • Generate Report Get Data to Modify.vi produces an error code 97

The "Generate Report Get Data to Modify.vi" produces error 97. I found some help regarding "font style.vi". The recommendation was to recompile the VI, but it didn´t work. Also to change the property node to a different property and back to the original didn´t work, too.

You hit the big solutions. Have you been able to isolate where in the VI the problem occurs? You will probably have to dig in the subVIs. Also do you see this problem if you install on another computer? Consider also reinstalling LabVIEW and Office if you are using the toolkit.

  • Create spreadshhet file from strip chart data

I have written a VI which displays a cluster of 4 data inputs on a strip chart.(4 traces)
I would like to send the same data to an excel spreadsheet but I can't get the data int a siutable format.
I then need a siutable VI for generating the spreadsheet file.

I am assuming that your cluster is of 4 1-d arrays.  Based on that, you could unbunble the arrays, feed them into a Build Array, which should give you a 2 d array, and then use the Write to spreadsheet file vi in the File I/O pallete.  All of the lines of data will probably be "horizontal" in the file..  If you want it listed "vertical", you can use the Transpose 2 d Array in the Array pallete.
If this does not work, please provide some more information on the data and vi that you are using.

  • Generate report with data from database package

    Hi
Is it possible to generate a report where the values come from an oracle database package instead of from an sql query declared in the report itself?
If yes, how is it done?
    Appreciate any help. Thx.

    Hi,
You can use REF CURSORs to generate reports from a database package.
For information about REF CURSORs, please see Chapter 40 'Building a Paper Report with REF CURSORs' of the Oracle Reports Building Reports manual.
    This chapter is at:

    1) Obtain the certificate from https://secure-ausomxgfa.crmondemand.com/Services/Integration and save as .cer
    2) With this certificate I have generated the keystore:
    C:\jdevstudio1013\jdk\jre\bin keytool -import -v -f DIR_CERTIFICATE_DOWNLOADED -keystore server.keystore -keypass PASS -storepass PASS_FROM_server.keystore
PASS=I have put an invented password
Any idea to solve the error? Is necessary a certificate with a keystore to connect HTTPS Web Service from JDeveloper 10g?
    Thank you an regards.

We import SAS data (Windows Latin character set) into Oracle, use OWB for ETL, export the results to SAS. Per regulatory requirements, character columns cannot exceed 200 in length.
    Problem scenario
Data that cause the trouble (200 characters, with a degree sign at the 77th position):
XXX PT PRIOR TO MSFC NOT TO USE WALKER, PT STATED SHE NEEDED IT LAST VISIT 2° BAD HEADACHE DECREASED BALANCE, WHICH WAS LATER FOUND TO BE SINUS INFECTION. ASKED PT NOT TO USE WALKER THIS TIME, PT SAID
Degree sign is U+00B0 in UTF-8, or 0xB0 (176) in ASCII. Though, I found out select ascii('°') from dual would return 49480 (or, 0xC2 0xB0).
In order to accommodate the import, Source.COMMENTX is VARCHAR2(201). Using OWB, we are mapping this to Target.COVAL which is VARCHAR2(200).
To get around ORA-12899: value too large for column, we use the expression convert(Source.COMMENTX, 'WE8ISO8859P1', 'AL32UTF8')).
    Although viewing Target.COVAL shows a ¿ (true in TOAD, SQL*Plus), dump(COVAL) confirms the 77th character is 176:
    DUMP(COVAL)
    Typ=1 Len=200: [...],32,50,176,32,[...]
    Desirable outcome
Store and display the text in a VARCHAR2(200) column without compromising the high-bit ASCII characters, e.g., degree sign, micro sign (i.e., Greek character mu), copyright sign, etc.
    Questions
    1. Is it a wrong assumption that AL32UTF8 supports the high-bit ASCII characters (i.e., characters between 128 and 255)? If not, why do the clients display the inverted question mark instead of degree sign when executing select chr(176) from dual?
    2. The aforementioned DUMP statement seems to confirm ASCII 0xB0 (i.e., not 0xC2 0xB0, or 0xBF) is being stored in the database at the 77th position. Why do my applications via ODBC interpreted and replaced it as 0xBF, which is the inverted question mark?
Avenues attempted without the desirable outcome
    1. Changing Target.COVAL from VARCHAR2(200) to NVARCHAR2(200) or VARCHAR2(200 CHAR) would make SAS (data access through ODBC) think the length is 400 or 800, respectively [Note: The vendor claims it is ODBC 3.0 compliant]
    2. Through Microsoft's ODBC Test software, this is the output for describe column all against select COLVAL from Target:
icol, szColName, pcbColName, pfSqlType, pcbColDef, pibScale, *pfNullable
    1, COMMENTX, 8, SQL_WVARCHAR=-9, 200, 0, SQL_NULLABLE=1

Degree sign is U+00B0 in UTF-8, or 0xB0 (176) in
ASCII. Though, I found out select ascii('°') from
dual would return 49480 (or, 0xC2 0xB0).Well, U+00B0 represents 'degree sign' in Unicode, and the UTF-8 encoded value for this code point is C2 B0. ASCII does not include a degree sign, and 176 is not a ASCII code value (only 0-127). The function ascii will just return the decimal form of the encoded value, in the character set of the database (not necessarily ASCII, or US7ASCII as it is called in Oracle).
    >
To get around ORA-12899: value too large for column,
    we use the expression convert(Source.COMMENTX,
'WE8ISO8859P1', 'AL32UTF8')).This part I don't understand. And where are you storing this? In the same AL32UTF8 database? I think this might be your problem.
    >
Although viewing Target.COVAL shows a ¿ (true in
    TOAD, SQL*Plus), dump(COVAL) confirms the 77th
character is 176:Yes, since 176 is an invalid value in UTF-8. U+0079 is encoded as 79, U+0080 is encoded as C2 80 - notice the "leap" there. If I would input 176 in a "utf-8 decode" I would get "out of range" or NaN back. Similarily, if you have managed to illegally store 176 as a character encoded value in a AL32UTF8 database, and are trying to retrieve that, involving a conversion to client character set, you would get the replacement character ¿ meaning "bad conversion".

    Try
    select chr(49480) from dual;
    - but you need to do this from a tool such as Oracle SQL Developer (it's free) that can handle Unicode ouput.

  • How to report on dates between From and To dates

    Hi forum,
I have a requirement to report on Long Term Absences from work.  The user wants to enter a calendar month in a selection variable, and see who is away from work in that month.
I have the start and end dates of absences, but these are long term absences which span across months.  The problem is, if I base the Calendar Month variable on the start date or the end date of the absence, people get missed off the report.
For example, if we have someone on maternity leave for a year, the user wants to be able to enter any month within that year, and see that the person is on maternity leave.  So I cannot use the start date or end date of the absence as it is.
How do I get the report to run such that when a user enters a month, it will show everyone who is absent on any dates within that month?  I assume I need some kind of customer exit variable for this, but is there a standard SAP delivered variable which will work out all possible dates within the start and end date?  Or do I need to write some code myself?
I couldn't see anything in the forum already which would help me on this, but if there is an existing thread, please also let me know.
    Many thanks
    Mischa

    Hi Mischa.
I think you can achieve what you want like this
Add the Start Month and End Month (let them be IO's that reference 0calmonth) to your cube and  populate them in the load using a formula, like Aron suggested.
Create a query with a  restricted key figure.  I suppose you are looking at some kind of count  to know how many people where absent in a given month, or something like that. Thus, add your KF to the structure and add the Start Month and End Month to the selection.
Restrict the Start Month using a variable, ZMONTH (this is what the user will enter at runtime), as follows:
    Start Month <= ZMONTH.
Now restrict the End Month using a variable, XMONTH (this will have to be an exit variable filled in CMOD by reading ZMONTH) as follows:
    End Month >= XMONTH.
Thus, your restricted key figure will only return values if the entered month is part of the absence interval. The abap you need for CMOD should be simple as all you are doing is reading a variable and passing it to another. From the top of my head, it should look something like this:
    data:
    l_s_range type rsr_s_rangesid,
    loc_var_range like rrrangeexit.
    case i_vnam.
the case statement will likely already be there, as well as the above definitions, so look for the case and insert the below
    when 'XMONTH'.
    if i_step = 2.
    clear l_s_range.
    loop at i_t_var_range into loc_var_range
    where vnam = 'ZMONTH'.
    l_s_range-low = loc_var_range-low.
    l_s_range-sign = 'I'.
    l_s_range-opt = 'EQ'.
    append l_s_range to e_t_range.
    endloop.
    endif.
    endcase.
this will likely already be there, so you won't need to put it there again.
    Good luck!
    Jacob

  • ALR reports showing data mismatch from Detail report(CJI3)

In our scenario WBS element i.e projects is converted through settlement into AUC & later onward AUC is converted into Assets. We are seeing report T-Code CJE0 u2013 12KSTIA(Budget/Actual /commitment / Rem. plan/assigned), in this the field for Actual amount that shown is not matched with the Value column(the detail document wise amount field) what we found that certain FI document is directly posted through AA document type to WBS element, so FI document number is generated but no AA document number is generated .
Please advice me how to match the Actual amount field with the detail document amount i.e value field in T Code CJE0 and whether is it right that the manual entry made using document type AA , so that CWIP Material a/c Cr to AUC a/c Dr, and further our year end is over & few document is also of 2006 F.Y also ,so pls guide me what should I do.

FYI, Ludek in the SDK forums did help me get this resolved, for anyone else who happens to stumble upon this thread with the same issue:
    Stale Data When Viewing Reports

  • Sending data out from xcelsius

    Hi
The dashboard has been created and swf file generated.  It is working as expected.  There is a requirement that user will write some comments in the dashboard(swf)(eg : input text area - component) and it needs to be stored in the database.  Guessing it is possible thro web service connection.   If anyone came accross this scenario, if so, how did you achieved this.
    Thanks
    Sreedh

    Stratos,
    Thanks for the immediete response.
I'm getting data to the dashboard from the SAP BW (SAP Net weaver BW connection).  Database system  DB6.
I want to write the data in ZTABLE whatever the information entered in the dashboard(swf).
If you have steps to do the same... pl forward.
    Thanks
