Generate signal f=50 Hz with NI-9264

Hi. i'm Sorin.
I need to generate a sine waveform with f=50 Hz, U=3Vrms. I have a C module, NI-9264. Is it any good ? Or it can only generates Vcc ?
I only have C modules: AI for RTD, V,mA, universal,  and AO for V and mA.
What can i use?
Thanks.

Of course it's more than enough 25000 samples for 50 Hz. (500 samples per period). I think the fact that it outputs 25000 samples per second has nothing to do with output waveform. I read the specs before i use the module and i was in dilema on this. Maybe it was better to use the module and see what it can first, than read the specs.  Just kidding. But the fact is that i didn't use the module till now, i wanted to be sure regarding waveform before i begin.
So you say it will work. that's great. Thank you.

  • Generating signal with several frequencies - Timing issues

    Hi
    I use Labview 7.1.
I am trying to generate a signal composed of 1000 different frequencies.
For this purpose I am using the Multitone Generator VI .
My problem is that the generating process is too long for my real-time
    application.
Is there any way to accelerate (optimize) this process?
I think about several options, such as:
    Using more powerful computer (multicore)
Making the process parallel (is it relevant
    for Labview7.1?)
    Changing VI's properties (priority etc..)
    Please advice
    Amir

    Hi,
    Attached my problem.
I am trying to generate signal with 100 frequency component (100 different sine waves).
According to the timers it is taking 87mSec to produce the signal which length is 1 second.
In my project, I need to generate 1000 frequency components. And also 20 channel of this kind.
So it is clear that i will not be able to achieve the timing requirements
(It will take more than 1 second to generate a signal of 1 second)
What can you advise me ?
    Thanks
    Amir

  • Acquire generated signal with this hardware ?

    Hello everyone,
I didn't really know where to post this, I apologize if it's the wrong place.
I'm very new to the LabView thing, and I have for project to trigger an injector and so to create a digital signal like this:
Due to the characteristics of the signal (110V, 10-20A, injection duration: ~20ms), someone recommended me this hardware (sorry if I'm not allowed to post these links):
    - programmable power supply: http://fr.farnell.com/ea-elektro-automatik/ea-ps-9200-25-2u/alimentation-1-voie-200v-25a-prog/dp/2422474
    - USB interface: http://fr.farnell.com/ea-elektro-automatik/usb-interface-ea-if-u1/interface-for-psi-el-usb/dp/1268147?ost=EA-IF-U1
I'll try to figure out on how I create (on my own for now) the signal with LabView.
My question is, will I be able to acquire the generated signal with this hardware in LabView, do I need something else ?
    Thanks.

I have designed and built injector drivers. To get a waveform somewhat like the one you showed requires a sophisticated and fast control circuit. I would not call that a digital signal.  It may be controlled by some kind of logic signals, but that is an analog signal.  No programmable power supply I have seen is fast enough to come close.
The pull-in current does not typically go into a ring/overshoot flat-topped waveform as you have shown. It follows an exponential curve defined by the L/R rise time and the current limit set by the supply voltage and the injector coil resistance. For the injectors I have seen that current limit is much higher than the current required to generate the magnetic field required to open the valve.  That oscillatory response could be the result of a switch-mode current regulator.
Similarly, the hold-in current does not occur by magic. Either the supply voltage needs to be changed (open loop system) or the current sensed and regulated (closed loop system).  The kind of ringing you show can occur in a switch-mode current regulator.

  • How to generate sequence of pulse trains with DAQmx?

I need to generate a sequence of pulse trains with DAQmx (the card I have is a PXI-6229 card). As an example:
    - 10'000 pulses at 20kHz every 5 seconds with an initial offset of 2 seconds (let's say 10 pulse trains in total).
If I use the CreateVirtualChannel.vi in "CO pulse ticks" mode, I can only specificy offset, high ticks and low ticks, but not that the sequence of pulses should be repeated after some time.
Now I thought that I could solve this problem if it were possible to multiply two counter outputs: the first counter would generate the pulses (continuously) whereas the second one would switch between low and high on a slower timescale in order to gate the first counter, thereby providing an initial offset and the "off" phases between the pulse trains.
Is it somehow possible to multiply two outputs with DAQmx and the card I have? Or is there another solution to the problem?
Thanks a lot in advance for any hints!

    Hi dlanger,
what you want to do requires a little bit more work.
First look at the example "Gen Dig Pulse Train-Continuous.vi" from the LV example finder.
This example generates a continuous* pulse train. As you see, you need a sample clock VI for setting the sample mode.
    * NOTE: Generating a finite pulse train with a M-series card requires 2 counter.
With a pause trigger (DAQmx trigger property node) you can gate the output of that counter.
Now you have to generate a gate-signal with the the 2nd counter. That means, only if  Ctr1-out is high Ctr0-out outputs the 20 kHz-signal.
Maybe you have to adjust the times in my example a bit.
Unfortunately there is just one "small" problem: "let's say 10 pulse trains in total"
This is not possible, because a 3rd counter would be necessary (*).
As a workaround you can modify the while-loop that both tasks are cleared after 50s. This is not brilliant, but should work fine for you.
A more sophisticated way is to perform a correlated DIO. So you can generate custom pattern for multiple outputs.
A good example can you find here:
Retrigger and Repeat Finite Digital Pulse Train in LabVIEW
    http://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-8473
    or here:
Generating More Than 2 Pulse Trains Using CompactDAQ
    http://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-2167
    Hope this helps.
    With best wishes,
    Ralf N.

  • Can I generate sine and square waves with NI PCI-MIO-16XE-50 card??

Can I generate sine and square waves with NI PCI-MIO-16XE-50 card??
How Do I generate those signals?

    Hello;
You certainly can do that. The way to go about that is to use one of the Analog Output channels your board have available.
If you are using Labview to program the board, you can find good examples at Search Examples->I/O Interfaces->Data Acquisition->Analog Output->Multiple Point (buffered) Analog Output.
If you are using other Software language to program the board, you can fing examples at C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\example\VisualC\AO.
    Hope this helps.

  • Two signals on two outputs with specific time interval

    I cant manage with following:
Have NI-6251 card. Trying to sent two step-signals on two outputs with
specific time interval, say 1 to 10 ms with 1us accuracy.
    How can I start?
    Thanks!

    Hi Anonymous,
What do you mean by step-signals?  Do you mean a signal that steps up the voltage over time, a step function signal that is zero until a certain time then goes to 1, or a pulse train?
In the meantime you can find examples for getting started in the NI Example Finder by selecting Help » Find Examples
When that opens you can limit the examples to ones that are compatible with your hardware.  In the bottom left corner select your hardware and check the Limit results to hardware box.
Browse to Hardware Input and Output » DAQmx » Digital Generation or Generating Digital Pulses.

  • How to generate a second csv file with different report columns selected?

    Hi. Everybody:
How to generate a second csv file with different report columns selected?
The first csv file is easy (report attributes -> report export -> enable CSV output Yes). However, our users demand 2 csv files with different report columns selected to meet their different needs.
(The users don't want to have one csv file with all report columns included. They just want to get whatever they need directly, no extra columns)
    Thank you for any help!
    MZ

    Hello,
I'm doing it usually. Typically example would be in the report only the column "FIRST_NAME" and "LAST_NAME" displayed whereas
in the csv exported with the UTL_FILE the complete address (street, housenumber, additions, zip, town, state ... ) is written, these things are needed e.g. the form letters.
You do not need another page, just an additional button named e.g. "export_to_csv" on your report page.
The csv export itself is handled from a plsql procedure "stored procedure" ( I like to have business logic outside of apex) which is invoked by pressing the button "export_to_csv". Of course the stored procedure can handle also parameters
An example code would be something like
    PROCEDURE srn_brief_mitglieder (
         p_start_mg_nr IN NUMBER,
         p_ende_mg_nr IN NUMBER
    AS
    export_file          UTL_FILE.FILE_TYPE;

  • Table names in generated stored procs are qualified with sa schema name

I am using OMW 9.2.0.1.2 with the 9.2.0.1.3 SQL Serevr plugin to help with a SQL Server 7 to Oracle 9.2.0.1 migration on NT.
As is common with SQL Server databases, the dbo is sa. I don't want my Oracle schema to be called sa. I have succesfully gotten around this by renaming the sa user in the Oracle model in OMW.
However, the stored procedure code that OMW generates has table names qualified with sa as the schema (the tables names in the original T/SQL procs were not qualified).
How can I stop OMW from generating table names qualified with sa?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
this is a bug in the OMWB. As a workaround, you can generate the migration scripts (see reference guide and user guide for more information) from the OMWB Oracle Model and then edit these scripts to ensure that the 'sa' prefix does not appear in the text of the stored procedures. Then use these scripts to generate the schema in your database.
An alternative is to migrate the stored procedures, schema and data over to the Oracle database using OMWB and then open each procedure in Enterprise Manager, remove the references to the 'sa' prefix and re-compile the procedure.
I will keep you updated on the release this fix will appear in.
    I hope this helps,
    Tom.
