Generate sql scripts

can we create sql scripts in ssis ; just like we create new excel files on package execution .

well I simplified  requirement:
I  want to run  an SP  and run this query  and return the below update statement as output.
:select BusinessEntityID, into #temp from [HumanResources].[Employee]
where jobtitle ='Engineering Manager'
update ph
set ph.payfrequency=10*2
from [HumanResources].[EmployeePayHistory] ph  where BusinessEntityID in (select * from #temp)
Hi Chelseasadhu,
Do you want to generate such an T-SQL script as you posted above or you want to execute the above script in a SSIS package? If the former, there is not a stock task/component in SSIS can generate T-SQL script; if the later, you can execute
the script via Execute SQL Task. One option is to use Script Task or Script Component to generate SQL script via SQL Server Management Objects (SMO):

  • Generating SQL Script for Existing Tables and DBs

    Hello,
    is it possible to generate automatically a SQL-Script from an existing table or oracle database ?
    I want to export an existing table from an Oracle DB (g11) if its possible with the data.
    Perhaps somebody could me explain how to to do this.
    I am using the "SQL Developer 2.1" and the "enterprise manager konsole".
    I'm a rookie in using this tools.

    If you want to export data, you should use the export utility. This is documented:

  • How to generate sql script based on table structure

    I want to generate a sql script based on a table structure.
    For example:
    if the table is:

    1 1 zz
    2 1 yy
    3 2 zz
    4 2 xx
    5 3 ss
    6 3 tt
    The expected output is:

    CHILD_tab as (
    SELECT 1 cid, 1 id,'zz' c_value from dual union all
    SELECT 2 cid, 1 id,'yy' c_value from dual union all
    SELECT 3 cid, 2 id,'zz' c_value from dual union all
    SELECT 4 cid, 2 id,'xx' c_value from dual union all
    SELECT 5 cid, 3 id,'ss' c_value from dual union all
    SELECT 6 cid, 3 id,'tt' c_value from dual )

  • Help! Need to generate SQL script file in every build of every changes in database project on TFS

    Hi everyone,
                I want to accomplish a task in TFS that I need to auto generate the database changes as SQL script file in drop folder for every build.
    For ex.: If I add a table in a database and then check in the changes, I need to get that create table script in the drop folder as .sql file extension
    I want to automate the build too for every check in. Help me out and guide me a step by step procedure because since I am new to TFS build in visual studio.
    Thanks

    Check out SSDT:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/data/tools.aspx
    It can generate a DACPAC which can be used to update a SQL Database through the commandline. To ensure that the .sql file executed is compatible with the target database schema it contains a compiled version of teh schema and will generate the change script
    on-the-fly.
    If you want, you call SqlPackage,exe to generate a SQL script if you want to inspect it before executing.

  • How to generate sql script of database user

    hello, I would like to generate the SQL script definition of a database user using JDveloper IDE (from ide connection).
    Best Regards.

    You want to use jdeveloper to extract the info, don't you. The tool mostly used here is sql*plus.
    You won't get any responses.

  • ODP bug with generated SQL script when using DateTime

    With EF5, I'm getting some really weird SQL scripts when dealing with DateTime.
    THe follow script works fine.
    var a = db.MOTOR_POOL_RESERVATION
    .Where(o => o.DEPART_DT > new DateTime(2013, 1, 1))
    .Select(o => o.RESERVATION_ID)
    .ToList();
    SELECT "Extent1"."RESERVATION_ID" AS "RESERVATION_ID"
    FROM "MOTORPOOL"."MOTOR_POOL_RESERVATION" "Extent1"
    WHERE ("Extent1"."DEPART_DT" > TO_TIMESTAMP('2013-01-01 00:00:00.000', 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS.FF'))
    But as soon as I create DateTime with year, month or day values forming from a variable, then generated scripts become incorrect.
    var year = 2013;
    var month = 3;
    var dt = new DateTime(year, month, 1);
    var c = db.MOTOR_POOL_RESERVATION
    .Where(o => o.DEPART_DT > dt)
    .Select(o=>o.RESERVATION_ID)
    .ToList();
    see the date is treated a string.
    SELECT "Extent1"."RESERVATION_ID" AS "RESERVATION_ID"
    FROM "MOTORPOOL"."MOTOR_POOL_RESERVATION" "Extent1"
    WHERE ("Extent1"."DEPART_DT" > '2013-03-01 00:00:00')
    var b = db.MOTOR_POOL_RESERVATION
    .Where(o => o.DEPART_DT > new DateTime(year, month, 1))
    .Select(o => o.RESERVATION_ID)
    .ToList();
    same problem with this one.
    SELECT "Extent1"."RESERVATION_ID" AS "RESERVATION_ID"
    FROM "MOTORPOOL"."MOTOR_POOL_RESERVATION" "Extent1"
    WHERE ("Extent1"."DEPART_DT" > '2013-03-01 00:00:00')

    It turns out that the sql is valid since I'm using bind parameters.

  • Generate SQL scripts from Designer 6

    Hi all,
    Does anyone know how to generate an SQL-script from Designer? I want to maintain the code in the repository, and also document usages against the script. I've found ways to document the script, but then I can't generate it....
    Thanks in advance,
    Ronald

    Ronald,
    How did you record the SQL script in designer? As undefined pl/sql module (type= "null")?
    If so, you cannot generate the script with the ddl generator. To do so you could change the type to procedure and make post-generation changes to the script (cut of f the procedure header and trailer lines). An other way to generate it is to write your own SQL script generator as a headstart utility. You might take a look at the html help file generator utility which does a similar job (create a o/s file based on the repository contents).
    Let us know if you succeed.

  • Generating SQL Scripts

    What would be the best way to generate an SQL script from a development environment to a customer site?
    Any suggestions greatly apprecaited.
    John

    If your question is about running a SQL script from box 1 to box 2, you could just configure your Net8 (tnsnames,sqlnet.ora) so that you can "talk" to the other database.
    If your question is about having an application build sqlscripts, then I would use generic coding with bind variables or lexical variables.
    If on the other hand, you want to just generate the SQL Scripts for users to execute at the other site, just send them your SQL in a text file.

  • Generating .sql script for all objects of a User/Schema

    Hi All,
    What are the ways in which I can generate scripts for a full USER (all objects) with dependencies. (by dependencies I mean for example that PK be created first before creating FK).
    We can export the full schema using (exp rows=n) but this will generate a .dmp file. I want a .sql file which can be run on any other machine (from SQL> prompt) so that user and all objects are created (without the need to use "imp").
    Thanks
    -AKJ

    But the easiest way to do this would be to do an export with rows=N and then an import.
    You coule do an export and then let run the import utility with indexfile=<you_name_it>.sql and this way you'll get a file with all statements included (but table definition commented out).
    Or you do it yourself (DIY-method), where you have to select all your relevant objects and their dependencies.

  • "Generating Oracle SQL" does generate any SQL script

    After capturing and converting works successfully (tables, procedures, views etc. are all visible), I right click on a converted model, select "generate", and only the following is generated:
    User 1
    Schema 1
    Package 1
    even though as i said there are a number of tables etc. visible in the captured and converted models.
    Upon closing the dialog, no SQL pops up. And there is no error in the log.
    Some databases convert properly. But at least one DB conversion has this problem.
    I am converting primarily from MS SQL Server 2005 Express Edition to Oracle 10g Express Edition.
    (I am new to Oracle, I hope i have provided the relevant information.)
    Any ideas? Thanks.

    I am using SQL Developer 1.5.4.
    SQL Developer remained open. In Quick Migrate, for example, it simply stopped at the beginning of the Generate stage, and the Close button became enabled.
    The procedures in the converted model seem to be translated to PL/SQL.
    I could try the command line out of curiosity, but FYI, this is what I ended up doing, and it worked. I don't know if it sheds light on anything:
    Instead of migrating the original SQL Server database directly, I used SQL Server's "Generate SQL Scripts" to create all objects to a new SQL Server database. A few objects (mostly views) failed, as they were invalid. The vast majority succeeded. And I transfered no data.
    Then I ran SQL Developer's Quick Migrate on the new database, and it completed perfectly.

  • Generate SQL Insert Statement using EXPORTED dmp file

    Dear DBAs,
    Kindly inform me that is it possible to generate SQL script file using the exported file dmp,
    I am looking for some option in import utility that generates script without import any rows in the database
    Secondly is there any other way to check the validity of exported dmp file data validity without importing it back into the database.
    Regards,
    Asif

    Hi Satish,
    Yes you are correct the insert into statements won't be avaliable using either the indexfile or the show parameter.I had given these two options as per his 1st post requirement where he had mentioned
    >
    it possible to generate SQL script file using the exported file dmp,I am looking for some option in import utility that generates script without import any rows in the database
    >
    So, i thought he needed to see whats all objects are in the .dmp
    Apologies for my 2nd post.

  • Replace Text In SQL Scripts

    Hi,
    I would like to search and replace text in files when I run .sql files.
    E.g. When user provide scripts xyz.sql, they would put table name like
    INSERT INTO  xyz abc VALUES ('text');I would like to replace xyz abc with mytablename.
    INSERT INTO  mytablename VALUES ('text');Besides, from the user provided sql scripts, they would be some junk create table scripts, I would like to comment off these junk table scripts.
    How could I do achieve the above?
    I would be calling user provided sql scripts from my sql scripts using @ ./data/temp.sql
    I am using oracle 8i for these. Any help is highly appreciable.
    Regards

    Sorry for not providing enough information.
    Oracle Version as follows:
           Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.4.0 - Production
         PL/SQL Release 8.1.7.4.0 - Production          OS:
    Windows XP SP2
    damorgan wrote:No clear description of what you are actually trying to do ... for example where does "mytablename" come from, where does "xyz" come from, how is the decision to be made? Based on what logic?
    These scripts are provided by customers where they use other database like sysbase to generate sql scripts and customers are not in a position to change or alter the scripts as these scripts are part of the solution provided by vendors(legacy systems)
    I have mapping sql script where table name is e.g. xyz abc then use script TS2 and process the customer given sql script.
    Let me know if I am missing out any other information.

  • Generation sql script form export dump

    I have a export dump of oracle 9i database at table level. Now I have to generate all the sqls which are in that export dupm file. Is there any way without importing this export file I can generate sql script???
    Thanks in advance!!!
    Suraj

    Hi,
    As correctly said by yingkuan use the indexfile option in imp.It would create a file like below
    REM CREATE TABLE "SCOTT"."XYZ" ("ENO" NUMBER, "ENAME" VARCHAR2(20),
    REM "DEPTNO" NUMBER) PCTFREE 10 PCTUSED 40 INITRANS 1 MAXTRANS 255
    REM STORAGE(INITIAL 65536 FREELISTS 1 FREELIST GROUPS 1) TABLESPACE
    REM "TS_DBUSER" LOGGING NOCOMPRESS ;
    REM ... 10 rows
    if ur on linux/solaris u can delete the REM by using awk command like
    awk '{ $1= ""; print}' <filename>
    and this should be somewhat ready for you to run as a script in sqlplus :)
    Thanks

    So I tried to create evaluation context and re-executed script(only exception setion.) the first error has gone. For the second still have some issue.

  • Underlying SQL or SQL Script for Calculated Views Create Graphically

    Hello,
    Is it possible to view the SQL or SQL script generated for calculated views that are created graphically?

    Hi Mike,
    For your calculation view you will find the corresponding column view created in schema '_SYS_BIC'-->Column Tables->
    <packagename>/<Calculation view> --> Open Definition of this and check the 'create statement'.
    Note: This is a information modeler generated SQL script which will show the generated Calculation Scenario and the respective Column View.
