Generated WebHelp bold formatting issue

Hi
I have a problem with formatting that is breaking inconsistently when I generate my project.
The formatting of my stylesheet:
An example of a section of content: "Planning and preparation"and "Training" = Heading 6. the rest of the bulleted text is a multi-level list style based on Normal
The HTML (I included a section of code above the problem section to show that it is not different):
The generated output:
I cannot see why the section below the <h6> Planning and preparation is in bold!! It is also not consistent. In another similar topic with the same layout, the text below the H6 is not bold.
Can anyone help?

Hi Jared
I am generating WebHelp only. It isn't only this topic. It seems to only happen to Normal text after using Heading 6. But it doesn't happen everywhere where Normal text is followed by H6. I have various similar topics and it only happens to some of them.
HTML code:

  • RH9: Unwanted bold formatting showing up in WebHelp

    I have a WebHelp build with a topic that, when published, shows bold formatting where there should be none. Only a word within each bulleted sentence should be bold, not the entire sentence. The .xpj file does not assign bold formatting to this text. I looked at the source code for the .htm file and see no tags that would bold each sentence rather than the specified words. What should I investigate to fix this?

    The XPJ does not apply formatting to anything.
    You say you have looked at the HTML for the topic but have you examined the CSS used?
    Have you tried using a different CSS to see if the problem remains?
    Does it happen in more than one browser?
    Does it happen if you create a new topic with default.css applied?
    How do you publish to the server?

  • Why won't my generated webhelp publish to our server?

    This question has several parts, but first things first:  I am used to
    generating webhelp and handing it off to a developer. In my current role, I am responsible for posting/publishing the help to
    an intranet site where it is used as a knowlege base. My predecessor and another person here can do this, but whenever I publish, nothing shows on the site. Another person who can publish and have it show up and I sat down to try to figure out what's going on, and we can't find any discrepancies or reasons for my problem. I feel like there's one little file or something that is causing the issue, but I don't know what it is. I did manually move a few new topic files out of the webhelp folder and into the shared drive area the knowledge base pulls from, but none of my formatting or images show up. Any ideas?

    Have you had IT check permissions?

    You can compare that with the ''Post new message'' text area that you use to create a new post on this forum.
    Just above the text area that you use to enter the message text there is usually a button bar with buttons that allows some text formatting like Bold and Italic and can also include a button to make a clickable hyperlink.

  • Format issue causing iBook navigation problems

    Hello!
    I created an iBook for a client, but some of the default functions of an iBook aren’t working when it’s previewed on iPad. My question is: since the file format seems to be the issue, what can be done to alleviate it?
    Problems
    When previewing the iBook on the iPad...
    Framing features such as navigation bar, book info, bookmark tool, etc. are missing
    The pages lack animated page turns
    Right and left page edge riffles are missing
    When the iPad is turned vertically…
    Pages scroll top to bottom instead of left to right as they should
    All images disappear
    Basically, the iBooks works mostly well in landscape mode but not so much in portrait mode. The client checked other iBooks to compare and the iBook I created is the only one with problems with the interface functions.
    Steps Taken To Save & Preview File
    Saved the iBook file as an IBA file. I also Exported it as an iBooks file.
    Sent IBA and iBooks files to the client to preview on his iPad (I don’t have one so I can’t preview it myself).
    The client opened the IBA file using iBooks Author then clicked the “Preview” button.
    The IBA file cross-loads to the iPad and the problems can be seen.
    The client also attempted to load the IBA and iBooks files on the Book Proofer application (this application does accept IBA and iBooks files), but that didn't work either. The client told me that are some file format issues unrelated to content, leading me to believe that it's a format issue.
    Technical Specifications
    iBook Author version I used to create iBook
    1.1 (the latest)
    iBooks version client used to preview iBook
    iBooks version 2.1.1 (April 16, 2012 release)
    iPad version the iBook is being previewed on
    1st Generation 64GB iPad
    File being used to preview on iPad
    The IBA and iBooks files for the iBook
    Could it be file format incompatibilities? Has anyone had this issue before? I hope the information I provided is useful. Any insight about these issues is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Catrina

    Again, sorry, a 'Shared' .ibooks file has the same format as what users download from the store.
    You don't need to be in the store to circulate that file. 'private' as defined depends on you. Email that file if possible and/or put it on your own server/dropbox and share the link to trusted individuals.
    If you're sending the .iba file to someone that then uses it in iBA, they need to use the 'Shared' menu to generate an .ibooks file, then drop that into iTunes and sync to their device.

  • Formatting issues in iBooks on the iPad

    Hello,
    I'm creating iBooks to publish on the iBookstore, but am having some formatting issues, or so I think at least.
    I have already created one iBook (http://itunes.apple.com/gb/book/id387336687, apologies for the morbid subject matter), which I tested on my iPhone (iOS 4.0) before publishing, and everything appeared correctly. Since then I've purchased an iPad, and have noticed that some of the formatting, namely text alignment, has lost it's formatting. This formatting issue only seems to effect the text, as all images look fine.
    I'm creating the iBooks in InDesign CS5 and Sigil, of which I've checked the CSS and everything seems correct.
    I'm wondering whether this is an issue with the current iPad iOS, and will be fixed once iOS 4.2 is released. But if anyone can shed some light on why this might be occurring, it would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks

    I don't think anyone knows. It could even create a new set of issues by disabling many of the hacks floating around on blogs.
    But if anyone can shed some light on why this might be occurring, it would be much appreciated.
    Typical iBooks CSS issues coupled with overly complex InDesign source. I took a different route and reformatted my source into super-simple XML and then generated my ePub from that. I still have all the same iBooks and CSS issues, but I am in complete control of my content.
    It is always best to test books on the target device. That shouldn't be a problem now that you have an iPad. However, if you are making decent money, it might be a good idea to keep one iPad on 3.2.2 for testing. That would be the ideal. I don't see the iPhone as being a really big iBooks market. I would focus on testing on the iPad.

  • Concurrent generating wrong output format with TEXT as output type

    Hi,
    I have create a custom rdf and set TEXT as its output type.
    I want the text output to be specific format but the concurrent is not generating the exact expected output.
    Expected Output:
    <?xml version="1.0" standalone="no"?>
    <!DOCTYPE labels SYSTEM "label.dtd">
    <labels FORMAT="E:WIPMATX.ZPL" _QUANTITY="1" _PRINTERNAME="Printer

    <variable name="$$WIP_ENTITY_NAME$$">BLFTOP</variable>
    <variable name="$$WIP_ENTITY_NAME$$">BLFTOP14</variable>
    <variable name="COM">19AWG</variable>
    <variable name="LOT_NUMBER"></variable>
    <variable name="ASSEMBLY">A05A0084-1</variable>
    <variable name="QUANTITY_ISSUED">0</variable>
    </label>
    </labels>
    *Wrong Output:*

    <variable name="ASSEMBLY">A05A0084-1</variable>
    <variable name="QUANTITY_ISSUED">0</variable>
    </label>
    </labels>
    And Actually i am trying to generate this output format type because , wer are using Zebra Printer to print lable and it is a XML enabled bprinter and understand this specifice XML DTD type. We found when set Output type to XML, it was not generating XML in accordance with DTD which Zebra printer understand Hence we are tring to use TEXT output.
    Please suggest.

    I get the solution for this issue.
    The solution is to use XML Publisher etext temaplate.
    Etext is used to get text output in any format.

  • RoboHelp 9 Stops While Generating WebHelp

    The topic above pretty much describes the situation.  Numerous attempts bring the same results.  It stops at this point and goes no further.
    Any thoughts?
    Robohelp 9
    Generating WebHelp.  Issue not encountered before now.
    Thanks.
    Holly

    I’m assisting an editor/author/publisher in my office who is relatively new to RoboHelp.  I had hoped this was a simple fix.
    I asked what changes have been made since the last time she published successfully.  Most of her topics link to exterior pdfs.  She said a ton.
    I’ll go to her desk and try a sample project.
    Thanks for the validation of what I suspected has to be done.

  • Losing Bold Format in Framemaker 10

    Hello,
    I have been having a problem with the format of my headings, footers and logos losing the bold appearance in Framemaker 10. When the document was created according to our EDD, template and paragraph designer, certain Headings were defined as BOLD along with the company logo and some content in the footer. For the past couple of days any BOLD formatting has disappeared from certain sections in my book and has become regular weight (although it still retains the BOLD status in the paragraph designer it is applying a regular weight font). Therefore I have to re-apply all heading elements etc in order for this BOLD format to take affect again. I do this save the document and sometimes it disappears yet again  then I need to apply the elements all over again.
    Can you please explan to me why this is happening and if there is a solution to fix this.
    Thanks
    Anne Macfarlane

    There could be several causes on this. The EDD rules are applied in an order, so it could be that you have a rule that says "use a para tag that is bold" and another rule somewhere that says "make it regular" and then you have a conflict. A few questions for you:
    1. Does this happen in a consistent way? That is, can you recreate the issue "at will" by building a specific combination of elements.
    2. Can you move the elements to another location in your structure and have the bold "come back" when you reposition this?
    If those are in fact things that happen, then review the EDD carefully to ID the right combinations. My guess is that you have a combination of rules (such as First or Last para rules, or some type of character level format) kicking in and messing with the files.
    Check to see what para tag is applied, but also check the element as well as its parent and other ancestors. ID if any of these are driving a change. This will mean digging in the EDD a bit though, so you need to be comfortable with that. Worst case, you may want to see if anyone who consults on EDD development can help out. It should be fixable, and my guess is that even someone who doesn't know your EDD specifically can find and ID the issue in about an hour or so. Note that this is a knee jerk estimate, but finding and fixing this shouldn't be the toughest thing to do.
    Hope this helps,
    Bernard

  • RH9 Crashing When Generating WebHelp - MAJOR Help Needed

    Hello,
    Our software release date is next Thursday, August 18th, so I'm a bit panicky. What's happening has never happened before. Every time I try to generate WebHelp, RH9 crashes while "Updating Files". There are two of us working on the project...maybe something has gotten messed up? Can anyone tell me what I should check, or what I should do? Below is a screenshot of the error, as well as the error report itself.
    In the above screenshot, you can see the Output View at the bottom of the window, and the crash happens during "Updating files..."  Does anyone know what this means? I REALLY need help. If I can't get this figured out, we're in major trouble - possibly no Help released for our product. A trillion thanks in advance for anyone who can help.
    Below is the contents of the error report
    Message was edited by Peter Grainge - The text posted has been removed as it was over 100 pages long and made the thread very difficult for forum supporters to assist. I have deleted it and put the text into a text file that is attached.

    Can we start with some questions to see what is going on here.
    Has this project ever compiled correctly, either in RH9 or another version?
    Is this a new installation of RH9?
    Can you generate any RH project. Try generating one of the supplied dummy projects (e.g. SalesBuilder)?
    Can you generate any other output formats from this project (e.g. CHM)?
    Have you tried creating a new WebHelp SSL?
    If none of this works, perhaps you can post some more details of what exactly has changed since the last successful generation.

  • Images embedded in styles no longer show in generated webhelp

    I am using RoboHelp HTML Version 8 and generating webhelp for interent explorer/firefox.
    Before christmas when i compiled my project everything looked fine when i reviewed the outcome. However, since coming back in january and compiling my help again, things seems to have gone awry with how the help looks once compiled. I have noticed a couple of issues:
    1. There are a number of images that are embedded in the certain styles (and references in my css file) in the project. However, these images now don't show and they have been replaced by bullet points.
    2. I use a horizontal line as a placeholder to split up the page - this line is now a lot thicker than it looked before.
    The strange thing is that the help topics look exaclty the same in RoboHelp and the preview so i'm not sure what has gone wrong here. I suspect it is an issue with my css file, but i compared the generated file with one i generated last month and they were exactly the same!
    Below are two pictures, the first one displaying how the topic looks in RoboHelp preview (this is how it looked when i compiled it last month) and the second one displaying the compiled output in internet explorer:
    Any advice would be much appreciated as given the prevalence of these images it would take me a significant amount of time to manually change every instance.

    Hi,
    I also noticed this problem. What I accidently discovered
    that worked for me, is that as long as the characters in the path
    were all together with "no spaces," everything worked fine. I used
    underscores to connect words. I sell on eBay as well as designing
    web sites, so I need DW to generate the code for me to paste into
    eBay's html "code box." So anyway, I would create the web page in
    my DW eBay template, and then upload it to my server. Then I would
    go back to DW, and enter the absolut path(s) for all the pictures
    to my server. As long as the path is connected with no spaces, it
    works.

  • Robohelp v9 crashes when generating Webhelp from linked FM book

    Hello Robohelp mavens!
    My environment:  Win7, FM v10, Robohelp v9. (TCS v3)
    I've linked an FM book (containing 90 files) to a blank Robohelp project. Whenever I try to generate Webhelp, Robohelp crashes at some point.
    As part of debugging, I clean the FM book (removed unused Pgf/char formats, conditions, etc.). That did not help.
    Any idea why Robohelp gives up in the middle?
    Any input is highly appreciated!
    My best regards,
    Roman

    Do you get any kind of error message in the output pod? Does it always crash on a specific file?
    Does it work if you remove half of the files from the book? A quarter? Etc.?

  • Toolbar buttons work in preview, not in generated webhelp

    I'm using RH 8.0.2 to generate webhelp.
    I took advantage of a few snippets from Peter Grainge's site and have 3 new toolbar buttons for my project:
    Here's where I need help.
    1. Report an Issue links to a sharepoint site on our network.  The link works fine, but displays inside the topic frame.  What is the proper Inline JavaScript to open the sharepoint page in a new window?  For ease of reply, say the link is http://www.mysite.com/issues/default.aspx
    2. Send link by Email sometimes creates a draft email when I click it in the preview pane, but I haven't figured out the reproducible conditions.  It doesn't seem to work in the generated files however. A similar issue seems to occur for the Copy Link to Clipboard button - sometimes works in preview, but not in generated webhelp.
    Notes:
    The Javascript I used for Send Link by Email, from Grainge's snippet 39, is:
    window.location=('mailto:[email protected]?Subject=Useful Information&body=This page might be useful to you: ' + window.parent.frames[1].frames[1].document.title +' ' + escape(window.parent.frames[1].frames[1].document.location))
    Note, this script throws an error as you preview, 'window.parent.frames.1.frames.1.document is null or not an object.
    The Javascript I used for Copy Link to Clipboard, from Grainge's snippet 114, is:
    function CopyURL()
    var myHerf=parent.frames[1].bsscright.location;
    var title=parent.frames[1].bsscright.document.title;
    if(window.clipboardData)
    var tempCurLink=title + "\n" + myHerf;
    var ok=window.clipboardData.setData('Text',tempCurLink);
    alert("Press Ctrl + V to Paste the link in your email");
    Any help appreciated!

    Hi there
    When you visited the page where you downloaded, I'm guessing you failed to also take a look at the link on the page designed to help with this?
    Cheers... Rick

  • New format issues

    Hi,
    I guess these might be issues with incomplete migration to the new format but I'll post them here nevertheless:
    Incorrect post count - The "total number of posts" in the user information seems to reflect the total number of posts online at the time of the transition instead of total number of posts to date
    Joined date changed - the "date joined" in the user info seems to have changed for me - no biggy but this might point to other problems
    Incorrect migration of old formats - the old discussions had the editor shortcuts "ii " at the beginning of a new line to create italic text - all these post now display "i " at the start of such lines (with the text not being in bold)
    Level info missing - according to the help file, a user should be able to see his/her level per topic as well as overall - I was not able to find this information at all
    But then, I am happy to see that you are keeping to make improvements to this forum and I thank all of you for your work - I am especially happy about the new "Preview" button for new messages!
    Andreas

    Another items is:
    Email Notification do not use subject of topic -
    In old system the email notifications showed for example "New Formatting issues", or "Re: New Formatting issues". On new system email notifications so as example:"Apple Discussions forum "Feedback about New Discussions" has been updated by Andreas Amann", or "Apple Discussions forum "Feedback about New Discussions" has been updated by John Smith", and so on. Makes it impossible to thread post by topics because all notifications only change if the post is from another group.

  • HELP: Strange Number Formatting Issue

    G'day All,
    I have a stored procedure which is available via the web which generarates a customer report. I've just noticed that my number fields that have decimal values are being rounded to the nearest whole number.
    The SQL that grabs the data to be used in generating this specific table uses TO_CHAR(decimal_field, '9990.00') etc a number of times. example values are:
    0.27 becomes 0.00
    45.44 becomes 45.00
    I've double checked the underlying data and the values definitely have decimal values as the examples I listed above are from. When I run similar queries via the SQL COMMANDs web page the data is correctly formatted. It just appears to be with in the stored procedure.
    BUGGER I've just noticed that it is happing on "Report Regions" where I have also used TO_CHAR(decimal_Value, '99990.00') etc.
    Does anyone know WTF I've done or not done. I'm pulling my bloody hair out as "IT SHOULD JUST WORK!!" :(
    Regards
    Mark

    G'day Chrissy,
    Thanks for you response, I've just logged it the demo application on my local instance of apex v 3.0.1 on Oracle XE and and as you would have it, I cannot for the life of me get the Number Formatting issue to occur at home.
    So when I get back into work, I'll give your suggestion a go.
    That said, I've modified the DEMO application specifically the TOP 10 Product report using every combination of the TO_CHAR (your way, the ways that I believe I'm using) and it works fine. I've created a new table with decimal values and a new report and it works fine. I even tries putting records with null values in the decimal field, but it worked fine.
    I've just switched themes (even though themes have no influence of a dynamically create html page via procedure) annnnnd it works fine.
    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
    Just maybe, just maybe it was Friday-itise and when I get in Monday it will just work, unless I get stung by Monday-itise :)
    I'll keep plodding along,
    Mark
