Generating pop up using JSF

Hi floks,
i`m new to JSF world plese help me out in generating a pop up window in the page.
Here is my requirement i will be having a list of links in my master page(parent) on click of each link i need to show a pop up which contains some details ,which i need to get from DB in the pop up mbean . i will have few buttons in my pop up and for each and every action i will be having a DB operation accordingly.I have tried out different ways and i failed.
The problem that im facing is when pop up loading for the first time its well and good and projecting the values as expected.But for the second time it showing the new values in the init funtion and i cant see teh new values on the screen insted its showing the first pop up values.

Can one create a floating window using JSF?

I was recently shown the interface for GMail. I don't have a GMail account, but one of the things I was asked to investigate was whether or not we can create the sort of floating window that appears on the GMail interface when one positions the mouse pointer over a cell on the grid showing the email messgaes. We have a grid on our JSF page, that shows specific data for items we're supporting, and it would be useful if we could have something like a mouseover event handler for each table row, and in that event handler show a window with a graphic specific to the data in that row, and the chart would move with the mouse pointer, perhaps changing the graphic if the mouse pointer is moved over a different row in the data table.
Can we do this using JSF? If not, what alternative can you suggest that would provide a reasonable facsimile to this kind of user friendly feature?

Page 644 gives two examples of how to generate a pop-up window. They give two examples because of problems that can arise when you transfer data between the main window and the pop-up. I do not want to violate copyright and there are ten pages of text devoted to this topic, so I'll just present some tickler code - if you cannot afford the book, maybe you can google on some terms. Sorry, I feel this is as far as I can go on this, I hope this helps some!
The first example uses a JavaScript call:
popup = window.open(url, name, features);
popup.focus();
where 'features' is a string like "height=300,width=200,toolbar=no,menubar=no"
The second example creates the pop-up form using a hidden field like this:

_blank link in external xml generates pop up blocker

I have links that are read into an html formatted text field
from an external xml file. My problem is that I would like the link
to load a new browser window when clicked using _blank - but that
generates pop up blocker in firefox.
I've tried passing the link to a function in flash to do the
same thing , but no luck with that.
The links all work OK (as soon as I put _self in it performs
as expected)
Does anyone know a solution to this problem

you could try using javascript to open the popup and see if
your popup blocker is less sensitive about that. you would use the
externalinterface class in flash to communicate between
actionscript and javascript.

Should we use JSF?

I'm new to JSF.
Can anyone comment how flexible it is to use JSF ? Is it expandable to other Java technologies as well in future or it will tie us down to JSF environment?
Another thing is what is the tools that most of you use to develop using JSF? Are you using Java Studio Creator? Any issue of using this tool in terms of future expandability?

I have a question for you since you use Java Studio Creator 2 (JSC2) before.
Anything that we drag and drop to the form, JSC2 will actually create the code for the component in the jsp right? This include the positioning of the component.
My question is:
1. Is it only JSC2 can be used to update this position (let say we wan to update visually) ? How do you update the layout previously?
2. I came across some resource on Internet that some JSF JSP page that I see does not contains the positioning information like what JSC2 is generating. They still have html codes and just that certain part of the JSP page contains some JSF scripting. How is this different from the one with JSC2?

How to dynamically include jsp files using jsf el in include tag ?

I'm trying to get the jsp file name from my backing bean to use it in an include tag but I can't make it work
When using this piece of code I can get the generated path
<h:outputText value="/_partial/#{myBean.jspName}.jsp"/>whereas in this code the jsf el is not replaced by this value.
<%@ include file="/_partial/#{myBean.jspName}.jsp" %> Have you any idea of how to solve this ? I'm currently developing for J2EE 1.4 platform.

If you're using JSF 1.2 and JSTL 1.2 at a JSP 2.1 environment, then you can just use <jsp:include> with unified EL.

As to your problem: did you read a basic JSP/Servlet book/tutorial? Did you read the [Tomcat documentation|http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/index.html]? Your problem more sounds like you missed something trivial.

Error while generating DDL commands using startSQLRepository for a new Repository

I am trying to generate DDL Commands using startSQLRepository for my new repository SubashRepository so that I can use them to create new table structure.
All the repository related changes looks good. i can see my repository in ACC
When I run the command:
startSQLRepository -m SupremeATG –repository /com/supreme/SubashRepository /com/supreme/subashRepository.xml -outputSQLFile C:/ATG/ATG9.3/SupremeATG/config/com/supreme/subashRepositoryDDL.txt
I get following error:
Table 'SUBASH_MEMBER' in item-descriptor: 'member' does not exist in a table space accessible by the data source. DatabaseMetaData.getColumns returns no columns
Note:
* errors related to definition file were cleared as the same command threw relevant exception while trying to store a array property with out creating a multi table.
* Now this is the only exception i see
* Some DDL are getting generated in the output file, but those are related to inventory repository (I am not sure why this is happening as I have specifically gave the path to my definition file).
Any help in resolving this is highly appreciated.

In Mail Preferences/Accounts/each GMail account, set up the SMTP Outgoing Server for each account separately, going into SMTP name/edit/Advanced and specify the Username of each account. The Outgoing servers must be two different servers, authenticated by the Username and Password of each.
Otherwise, the GMail SMTP server will change the from address to that of the account where the SMTP server was setup.

If I were to guess, I'd guess that your filename is invalid. How about removing all special characters (spaces, brackets, etc.) from the device name. Also, make sure your form was compiled for HTML.
I haven't actually used the HTML driver, but these are general things you should do if you have trouble with any Central driver.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object error when generating a schema using flat file schema wizard.

I have a csv file that I need to generate a schema for. I am trying to generate a schema using flat file schema wizard but I keep getting "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." error when I am clicking on the Next button after
specifying properties of the child elements on the wizard. At the end I get schema file generated but it contains an empty root record with no child elements.
I thought may be this is because I didn't have my project checked out from the Visual SourceSafe db first but I tried again with the project checked out and got the same error.
I also tried creating a brand new project and generating a schema for it but got the same error.
I am not sure what is causing Null Reference exception to be thrown and there is nothing in the Windows event log that would tell me more about the problem.
I am using Visual Studio 2008 for my BizTalk development.
I would appreciate if some has any insides on this issue.

To test your environment, create a new BizTalk project outside of source control.
Create a simple csv file on the file system.
Name,City,State
Bob,New York,NY
Use the Flat file schema Wizard to create the flat file schema from your simple csv instance.
Validate the schema.
Test the schema using your csv instance.
This will help you determine if everything is ok with you environment.

Error while printing generated XML doc using DBMS_OUTPUT

while generating XML document using XDK for PL/SQL i am getting " ORU-10027: buffer overflow, limit of 1000000 bytes " error even though i had set DBMS_OUTPUT to 1000000.
Is there any way to getrid of this problem .

No, It is a PO Print only. Only for changes to PO that do not affect the value of the PO,this error occurs. When i select the entry for the PO and click on Output message, the output message fails. On clicking Display Message, it shows the message - No schedules exist for the Scheduling Agreement XXXXXX(the PO number".
So,it is not for Scheduling Agreements but for PO only. I know it is weird to see such an error on the PO output message in ME9F.
Pls help.

Using JSF and Struts

I am a bit of a newbie in terms of UI applications on the JEE platform, so I apologize up front if this question seems silly. I was wondering if someone could comment on the approach below. Is this something that's possible or am I barking up the wrong tree?
We have a vendor application that is written using Struts. We want to add a section of our own pages to this application, but we would rather use a more strategic approach in our pages, so we would like to use JSF for those.
The original web.xml file in the vendor app uses a dtd of version 2.3 as shown below:

When I use JSF, I use a DTD version of 2.5 as shown here:

The problem is that when I use version 2.3, the elements needed to support JSF are invalid. When I use 2.5, the elements needed to support struts are invalid.
Could someone comment in that, if you had this vendor app and you needed to add your own pages, is it not possible to use JSF in this scenario or if you can, what is the best approach to resolving this issue?

First make sure that your application server supports Servlet API 2.5. Whether the desired Servlet API version is supported or not solely depends on the application server implementation and version used. For example Tomcat 5.5 is a Servlet API 2.4 implementation which only supports the API versions up to with 2.4. If you want to use Servlet API 2.5, then you obviously need a Servlet API 2.5 implementation, for example Tomcat 6.0.
Consult the website and/or documentation of the application server in question.

This is not really the correct forum to be posting Reports issues. However, if I were to guess, your issue is likely related to the known issues related to installing FMw11R1 on machines which had IPv6 enabled. In most cases, disabling IPv6 would correct the problem, however some issues were not resolved even after disabling IPv6 post-install. I would recommend patching to WLS 10.3.6 and FMw 11.1.1.6 as these versions include fixes for all of those issues as far as I recall.

How to generate idoc PODRCH02 using out put type

I need to generate outbound idoc PORDCH02 and message type PORDCH using out put types (messages).But i unable to generated this idoc using message type. System is giving error as *No recipient found for message type PORDCH in the ALE model*
To do this , i have done the following steps.
1. In BD64 i have configure the business object BUS2012, using add bapi. ( In cust.distn model it doesn't allowing the message type. so i have given BAPI )
2. In partner profile (WE20), for sending logical sytems
i have configure the message type in outbound parametes.
3. In NACE for out put type NEU i have given medium as Distribution (ALE), Partner function as LS
Could you please help me out , what are the necessary steps i need to take care and what are the steps i missed out.

In distribution model, you have to configure both the sending system and receiving system. The Tcode of Distribution model is BD64.
