Get I/O buffer size of operating system...

Hi ,
Is there any script in Oracle which will display the I/O buffer size of operating system i use???
I need it in order to set appropriately the parameter DB_FILE_MULTIBLOCK_READ_COUNT.
Thanks , a lot
Simon

Hi ,
I found a script in order to find the IO buffer size of operating system. This is as follows:
create tablespace tester datafile 'C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata\EPESY\test.dbf' size 10M reuse
default storage (initial 1M next 1m pctincrease 0)
create table testing tablespace tester
as select * from all_objects
where rownum<50000
select relative_fno from dba_data_files
where tablespace_name='TESTER'
select phyrds,phyblkrd from v$filestat where file#=<#relative_fno#>
select count(*) from testing
select phyrds,phyblkrd from v$filestat where file#=<#relative_fno#>
In an example - explaining the above example- there were the following figures:
select phyrds,phyblkrd from v$filestat where file#=<#relative_fno#>
PHYRDS PHYBLKRD
154 1220
The test ends up by dividing the PHYBLKRD by the PHYRDS . So in the above example it yields a result of 7.92 which is close to 8 - so the effective multiblock read count is 8.
NOTE : The words underlined are of the author words not mine.
I run the above script and i found a figure about 10.85. So which may be the effective multiblock read count...??????
Thanks , a lot
Simon

Cannot get turbotax 2013 to load (my operating system is snow leopard, 64bit) Disk at first sounds like it is loading, then kind of grinds around and comes to a stop. Installed apple software updates for itunes, just before trying to load turbotax, could that have any effect on my disc drive?

put in another cd/dvd and see if it makes the same noise.  if so, your superdrive may be damaged.

  • Oracle's block size and operative system cluster

    hallo,
I would like to move our oracle's database 10.2g from server in a datacenter with Vmware environment, where the net admin will install windows 2008 with 64 bit.
Now, the net admin strong believe that if oracle's block size is near at size of cluster of the cooked filesystem, oracle perfomance will increase, and he wants to set oracle's block size to 64 K
    It's a right idea or a mistake?
    thanks' in advance anyone answers.

I think he's probably had more experience with SQL Server - which is more closely integrated with the operating system, which means this type of thinking can be of some help. SQL Server has a fixed extent size of 64K (8 x 8KB pages) and an algorithm that allows it to use readahead on extents, so it's fairly common practice to synchronise the SQL Server extents with the operating system allocation unit - which is why, historically, SQL Server admins would set up the O/S with a 64KB allocation unit and fuss about aligning the allocation unit properly on the hardware.
This type of thinking is not quite so important in Oracle systems.

  • I am unable to download the programs onto my laptop. I keep getting a message that says the operating system no longer supports the programs.

I need help, i am not sure what operating system needs to be installed. I have a mac and the operating system is up to date.

Creative Cloud programs are not spec'd to work with Mac OS X 10.6.8.  You would have to upgrade to at least version 10.7.  You should check the system requirements for all of the programs you wish to install to see what the minimum is that would cover all of them.  Just Google "InDesign system requirements" to find them for InDesign, and repeat for the other programs using their names instead of InDesign.

  • Mbox With Logic, Can I Get A Lower Buffer Size Please?

I just bought an original mbox and I want to use it as a 2 track in/out interface with Logic. In order to get it to function I've been using the digi core audio manager. Using that manager has limited me to a high buffer setting. I am stuck at 512, and I would like to shorten that to 128 or lower. Does anyone know if this is possible? Is there some other way that I can get the mbox to function without using the core audio manager?

Logic;s mixer is so flexible that you can pretty much rig up what you want.
However, the traditional way to set up monitor mixes, if you really need different levels per channel (and not just stems), is to use pre-fade aux sends, and send those to a second set of outputs/busses, and adjust the send levels accordingly.
It might get a little more complex if you already have FX returns and stuff, because you'll need to make sure those go to the monitor mix as well.
For me, it's not worth the bother to set up a complete monitor mix for all channels. If I need to do it, it's usually to alter the balance for recording (say, more drums, less keyboards, more bvox), and I would just set up a second mix from the stems going to a second pair of outputs, and monitor from that - it's much quicker to set up, easier to control, and usually gives me what I need - your mileage may yada yada etc...

  • Hi, I have hp dv7-3165dx and I cant seem to get it to work. My operating system is windows 7 64 bit.

I have been trying to troubleshoot this problem 4 about a month now.  When I put a bluray dvd the screen reads "no disk in drive".  This message is the same response i get with diffrent players, hp mediasmart, cyberlink power dvd 10, arcsoft, and also with img burn. & a couple of others.  I also chaged my drive letters in disk management, because my optical drive originaly was set to the letter F: Now its letter E: , So, my drive letters are, (C computer (D recovery (E optical (F): hp tools. I also ran the microsoft fix it. reads same message no disk in drive.  I restored my computer, I updated my mediasmart software, also recoverd it from advance out of the box state, same thing I ran the revo program & reinstalled the mediasmart 3.1, no luck. I also did the regedit troublesoot recommended by microsoft. only to find that I dont have any higher or lower filters to delete. so I closed that up. I ran the cyberlink bluray 3D advisor and it passed, when i run the fix it tool by mats, it reads , disk in drve not found . drive has error but drive is ok, I also tried diskpart by command prompt & it reads no media in drive E: drive not ready. also uninstalled by devise manager no help there. reseated my drive by physically removing thr drive as instructed to the tee, no luck. My warranty is up but my pc has been sent back to hp twice when under warranty. so if they just replaced dvd drive in november does that mean i get warrenty on my drive for a year on the drive itself, imean if we cant troublshoot this problem ? HP services has been great to me and the forums awsome, I really hope we can solve this problem,  THANKS A MILLION.

  • Just started getting "Firefox no longer supports your operating system version..." I don't care. How do I turn off this message?

Just started after the last update

I've started Firefox in Windows 2000 compatibility mode under Wine and got the Software Update window after a short time.
I see this pref on the about:config page: extensions.firefox-hotfix.unsupportedOSLastPrompt
Seems to be related to this extension: Firefox Notification Hotfix 20120430.01:

You can try to disable or remove that extension on the Tools > Add-ons > Extensions page.

  • Office 2013 ODT The operating system is not presently configured to run this application

    hi!
We have RDS 2012 R2 setup up and running with session host, connection broker, rd gateway and rd web. AS office 2013 can be deployed using APP-V 5 SP2, we have created .appv pkg using ODT as mentioned in this
guide . It was working fine for 2 days and then suddenly we started to get error popup window saying
"The operating system is not presently configured to run this application" . We are receiving this error on Session host server(win 2k12 r2) which is App-V 5 sp2 client, when we try to open any office 2013 app.
And If check on App-v server which is also a publishing server. In event viewer i see this log entry.
    Log Name:      Microsoft-AppV-Server-Publishing/Admin
    Source:        Microsoft-AppV-Server-Publishing
    Event ID:      215

We have the same issue. All other applications seem to work fine.
App-V 5.0 SP1 with hotfix package 2 installed on the App-V Management/Publishing server. We only use Windows Server 2012 RDS instead of R2. On the RDS servers, App-V 5.0 SP2 is installed. We use User Profile Disks and also used the ODT for Office
    2013.
I our case it worked for a few hours. We didn't change anything (no updates of other things) other than having a few users try to login with different accounts to test the application. Reinstalling the client doesn't work and we also tried to removed
all AppVClientPackages and then clear the cache from locations like:
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\AppV\Client\VFS
    %APPDATA%\Microsoft\AppV\Client\VFS
    C:\ProgramData\App-V
I'll post a solution if I find one.

  • Remote desktop connection issue with an RDP client while connecting to some of windows 2008 and 2003 operating system flavors and not receiving SDin value choice 26 from DomainMCSPDU

    Hi Team
We have our RDP client and i came across with one issue "Expected data got 3" with this client.
This issue is getting while connecting some of below operating system flavors.
    Microsoft Windows 2008 Enterprise edition
    Microsoft Windows 2008 Standard edition
    Microsoft Windows 2003 servers
When we are trying to get RDP to those servers with our client, getting "Expected data got 3" error. One more main thing here is the specified error is not getting for all the servers of same operating system in above list.
Able to get the RDP console for those servers using mstsc client.
When i read the [MS-RDPBCGR] specification, i found the below points
mcsSDin (variable): Variable-length PER-encoded MCS Domain PDU (DomainMCSPDU) which encapsulates an MCS Send Data Indication structure (SDin, choice 26 from DomainMCSPDU), as specified in [T125] section 11.33 (the ASN.1 structure definitions
are given in [T125] section 7, parts 7 and 10). The userData field of the MCS Send Data Indication contains a Security Header and a Valid Client License Data (section 2.2.1.12.1) structure.
In my code i am not getting SDin value as 26. Is it the problem with Remote desktop Licensing in RDP servers as specified in the specification like "The userData field of the MCS Send Data Indication contains a Security Header and a Valid
Client License Data (section 2.2.1.12.1) structure."
Could you please explain me is this issue is happening due to Licence configuration in RDP server and please provide support with server side configuration if any because our code works for other servers ?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Pavan G.

Hi, I have a laptop satellite a300 and when I boot the system I get an error message 'Error loading operating system' - if some kind poster can help me on this matter it would be much appreciated.

Do the BIOS recognize the HDD? Check this in BIOS.
Can you boot in safe mode?
If you can go in the advanced boot menu, choose repair my computer and select the Toshiba recovery option. This procedure reinstalls the OS.
This feature is only available with a preinstall Windows Vista. If you have Windows XP, you must use the CD.
