Get the number of elements in Array

Hi everyone,
Could anyone give me idea on how to get the number of elements in an Array (not number of rows) ?
I tried to find that in both property node and array functions but nothing.
Thanks,
-Kun

You are going to have to provide some proof that the Array Size does not work correctly. Right click on the input to it and select 'Create Indicator'. Run the VI. Go to the front panel and select 'Edit>Make Current Values Default'. Save the VI and attach it to your post.
You can also check the array size yourself. Right click on the index display of the array and select 'Advanced>Show Last Element'. I will bet you that number shown is equal to Array Size -1.
p.s. The number of elements in an array is equal to the number of rows in a 1D array. If you define the number of elements as anything else, you are mistaken.

  • How to get the number of elements in DB

    Could you tell me how to get the number of elements in DB??
    My code to get the number is below, but I think it is not efficient
    DB->cursor(DB, NULL, &cursorp, 0);
    while ((ret = cursorp->c_get(cursorp, &key, &data, DB_NEXT)) == 0)
    count++;
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hi,
    The most efficient way to get a count from the database is using the DB->stat API (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17076_02/html/api_reference/C/dbstat.html)
    The code will be something like:
            DB *dbp;
            DB_BTREE_STAT *statp;
            int ret;
            /* Print out the number of records in the database. */
            if ((ret = dbp->stat(dbp, NULL, &statp, 0)) != 0) {
                    dbp->err(dbp, ret, "DB->stat");
                    goto err1;
            printf("%s: database contains %lu records\n",
                progname, (u_long)statp->bt_ndata);
            free(statp);The code comes from the example included in the distribution at examples/c/ex_btrec.c
    If the database isn't a btree, you should update to the appropriate statistics structure and field.
    It's worth noting that retrieving the count is never a "cheap" operation. The count is not stored in the database - since doing so introduced a single point of contention that creates a bottle neck.

  • How Do I Print the Number of Elements in An Array

    How do I print: "There are ____ number of elements in the array?"

    If you have a String holding a sentence, and if you split on non-empty sequences of whitespace (if the string has newlines in it, you'd probably need to pass the argument that makes \s match newlines, and for that you would probably need to use java.util.regex.Pattern -- see the docs and try some tests), when you'd get an array of Strings that were the non-whitespace parts of the original String. That makes for a reasonably good definition of the words in the sentence, although you could arguably get into some gray areas (does "isn't" count as one or two words? Does a sequence of numbers or punctuation qualify as a word?). In that case, counting the number of elements in the resulting array of String. using .length, would be a reasonable way to get the number of words in that sentence, yes.
    But rather than asking for confirmation on forums, why don't run some tests?
    import java.io.*;
    public class TestWordCount {
      public static void main(String[] argv) {
        try {
          BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
          String line;
          while((line = in.readLine()) != null) {
            int count = // your code here, to count the words
            System.out.println("I see " + count + " words.");
        } catch (IOException e) {
          e.printStackTrace();
    }Put your word-counting code in there, then run it from the command line. Type in a sentence. See how many words it thinks it found. Does it match with your expectation, or the examples given (hopefully) with your homework assignment?

  • Enable the Number of Elements in the Array

    once the Un-Initializing the array(1D or Multi) Placed ,we can not select the Number of element to Enable.
    byproviding the below option we can easily Enable the Elements in any array dimention.

    Already possible by typing a value (usually the default value) once you've set the indices to the size you want to initialize

    I bought Photoshop Elements 12 (box - CD) and threw away the box. I thought the serial number would be on the disc sleeve, but it was not. Now I can´t register the product. Is there something I can do to get the number/code to activate Photoshop Elements? Thank you.

    My guess is that you won't be able to do much if you threw away the serial number before using it.  The serial number will not have been externally visible on the box though... doing that would make it available for use by anyone who sees the box in any store.
    To locate the serial number:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html
    If you remain unable to locate the serial number you might need to head back to wherever you purchased the product to confirm whether or not you might have thrown out the serial number or if it could even possibly have never been provided.
    Beyond that you need to resolve serial number issues with ASdobe Support directly.  Here is a link for chat:

  • Can I replace several elements of an array within one time? The number of elements are not fixed

    Hi all,
    I want to replace some elements of a 2D array, but the number of elements are not known beforehand. I dont want to do it with a loop, which may slow down the speed, and the update of elements will not happen simultaneously.  The indexes of elements to be updated are not continuous. I wonder if there is a way to do that efficiently? Do I have to programme it in LabWindows/CVI? Thank you.
    Best wishes,

    My blog Let's LabVIEW.

    Use the replace elements function. For non-continuous replacements  of of multiple elements you would nee to iterate at least the number of continous pieces.
    For example:
    1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
    Replace elements 1,2,5,6,8
    You would need 3 iterations in which you can replace (1,2), (5,6) and (8).

  • Get the number of concurrent users for a WD application

    Hi all,
    I need to implement a method which counts the number of concurrent users for a Web Dynpro application.
    Say I have a portal with X applications, is there API that can tell me how many users are working on specific application?
    I know that this line of code
    IWDClientUser currentUsers[] = WDClientUser.getClientUsers();
    will get me the number of users that are working on ALL Web Dynpro applications. Is there a way of getting it for specific application?
    I thought of using a text file/small DB table that set/get the number of users but I think it will cause overhead issues.
    Any ideas how to implement it?
    Thanks,
    Omri

    Hi Omri,
    Try using  WDServerState.getActualApplications() method.It returns array of actual running applications.Compare ur application name with the array elements and keep a counter for matching elements.
    String app[]=WDServerState.getActualApplications();
        for(int i=0;i<app.length;i++)
              view.getComponent().getMessageManager().reportSuccess(

  • Write two functions to find the the number of elements in a linked list?

    I am trying to Write two functions to find the the number of elements in a linked list. One method using recursion and One method using a loop...
    //The linked List class is Represented here.
    public class lp {
    public int first;
    public lp rest;
    public lp(int first1, lp rest1)
    first = first1;
    rest = rest1;
    The program i wrote so far is
    import java.util.*;
    import linklist.lp;
    public class listCount{
    //loop function
    public static void show_list(lp list)
    int counter = 0;
    while(list != null)
    list = list.rest;
    counter++;
    System.out.println ("length computed with a loop:" + counter);
    //recursive function
    public static int recursive_count(lp list)
    if (list.first == null)
    return 0;
    else
    return recursive_count(list.rest) + 1;
    //main method
    public static void main (String args[])
    lp list1 = new lp(1, new lp(2, new lp(3, null)));
    show_list(list1);
    System.out.println("length computed with a recursion:" +
    recursive_count(list1));
    at the if (list.first == null) line i get the error " incomparable types:
    int and <nulltype>" I know this is a beginners error but please
    help...What should I do?

    byte, char, short, int, long, float, double, and boolean are primitives, not objects. They have no members, you cannot call methods on them, and they cannot be set to or compared with null.

  • How to get the number of records of a streaming result set

    Hi guys.
    So if it wasn't a streaming result set, I would have done this:
    {noformat}myResultSet<code class="jive-code jive-java">.last();
    {color:navy}*int*{color} numResults = </code>myResultSet<code class="jive-code jive-java">.getRow();
    </code>myResultSet<code class="jive-code jive-java">.beforeFirst();
    </code>{noformat}
    but being a streaming result set, beforeFirst() throws an exception...
    So how do you get the number of records in that result set? I wanna avoid an extra count(*) query, so I would appreciate other solutions than that.

    you see, for now I just use a count(*) query to get the number of records, but that's adding a lot of extra waiting time...Iterating over the result twice will surely be slower then doing the count(*).great! so what I got now is actually the fastest way there is... awesome...
    If you get an exception, then you surely have a stack trace. That should tell you what happens, or at least where.com.mysql.jdbc.MysqlIO.checkForOutstandingStreamingData(MysqlIO.java:2066)
    Why do you need to know the number of elements beforehand, anyway?I need to know the number of elements because the incoming data goes into a table. Now of course, I could use ArrayList<String[]> or something, but wouldn't that require more memory resources than Object[][] ?
    No one can tell you that, at least not without more information (say, the stack trace for example).Here's the exception message:
    java.sql.SQLException: Streaming result set com.mysql.jdbc.RowDataDynamic@10c0ef2 is still active. Only one streaming result set may be open and in use per-connection. Ensure that you have called .close() on  any active result sets before attempting more queries.

  • How can I get the number of rows in my sql result, without a loop?

    Hello,
    I've a problem, I would like to get the number of rows in my sql result without make a loop like :
    while (rs.next()){
    int number = rs.getRow();
    Is there any method to do this, on the first element?
    Thx, STeF

    If you want to count how many rows are in result set, I dont think you can, but you could always run a count statement for that sql
    say your sql is
    select field1, field2, field3
    from table1, table2
    where field4=field5 ......
    then you can count the rows this statement returns by
    select count(*) from
    (say your sql is
    select field1, field2, field3
    from table1, table2
    where field4=field5 ......)
    This way you will get the count for just that sql

  • Little tip to get the nr of elements in a local structure using RTTI

    sometimes you need to know the number of elements in a structure for manpulating data
    for example you might need to convert the elements in an internal table to a special file format such as "field","field",......"field".
    instead of something like this where  you have counted the number of elements in your structure
    you can obtain the number of elements dynamically. This saves changing the code each time you change the structure and can avoid errors.
    data: zstring type string
    data: zstring1 type string.
    lv_index = 1.
        WHILE lv_index LE 47.
          .CLEAR zstring.
          ASSIGN COMPONENT lv_index OF STRUCTURE  your_ structure  TO  <fsa>.
          CONCATENATE '"' <fsa> '"' INTO zstring.
          CONCATENATE zstring1 zstring INTO zstring1.
          CONCATENATE  zstring1 ',' INTO zstring1.
          lv_index = lv_index + 1.
          CLEAR zstring.
        endwhile
    lv_index = 48.
        ASSIGN COMPONENT lv_index OF STRUCTURE wa_interface_contracts TO  <fsa>.
        CONCATENATE '"' <fsa> '"' INTO zstring.
        CONCATENATE zstring1 zstring INTO zstring1.
        CONDENSE zstring1.    "Left align all data fields within the string
        APPEND zstring1 TO ta_string1.
        CLEAR zstring.
        CLEAR zstring1.
        lv_index = 1.
    Using the RTTI
    DATA lr_rtti_struc TYPE REF TO cl_abap_structdescr .
    DATA: zog    LIKE LINE OF lr_rtti_struc->components .
    DATA:  zogt                    LIKE TABLE OF zog,
      CREATE DATA dref TYPE your_structure
      ASSIGN dref->* TO <fs>.
      lr_rtti_struc ?= cl_abap_structdescr=>describe_by_data( <fs> ).
    * get the structure details into a table.
    * table zogt[] contains the structure details
      zogt[]  = lr_rtti_struc->components.
    now the nr of rows in this table contains the number of elements in your structure.

  • Get the number of rows affected by update statement

    Hi
    I'm working on an application that uses OCI as interface against an Oracle database.
    I'm trying to find out how i can get the number of rows affected by a query executed with OCIStmtExecute. it is not a select query.
    Best regards,
    Benny Tordrup

    If I run a bulk UPDATE query using OCIBindArrayOfStruct, is there a way I can tell which+ rows successfully updated?
    I have a file of records of which 75% of PKs are already in the table and will be updated, the other 25% aren't and should be inserted later. I want to attempt an UPDATE statement using OCIBindArrayOfStruct to execute in bulk and then check which entries in my bulk array successfully updated. If an array entry isn't successfully updated then I will assume it should be inserted and will store it for a Direct Path load later.
    Many thanks for any advice you can give as I've been trawling through the docs trying to find a solution for ages now.

  • How to get the number of days in a month?

    hi all
    is there any way to get the number of days in a given month with a given year? for instance, if year is 2004 and the month is July or February, how can i get the number of days? thanks.

    Gee, I don't know ... Maybe this:
    Calendar cal = Calendar.newInstance();
    cal.set(Calendar.YEAR, 2004);
    cal.set(Calendar.MONTH, Calendar.FEBUARY);
    System.out.println("max days in month: " + cal.getActualMaximum(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH));
    Do you not bother reading what people have already posted? Read the API docs on the Calendar class.
