Get xml name

Is it possible to get the name and path of a imported xml with javascript?
Thanks!

Since you are using the XQuery or XPath query you should know the exact path of the xml. Otherwise you can't utilize this new feature in SQL Server...
There is no functions available in XQuery to fetch the XML Root element name, but you can utilize the Stringmanipulation to find what is your root..
Code Snippet
declare @x xml
set @x =
 '<Chicago>
   <Area>A1</Area>
   <Group>5</Group>
   <Question>Q1</Question>
 </Chicago>'
Select
   Substring(XML,Charindex('<', XML)+1, Charindex('>', XML) - Charindex('<', XML)-1)
From
   Select
      Cast(@X as Varchar(max)) as XML
) as Data

    You may use fn:local-name() -

  • GET XML NODE NAME FOR LOOPING

    Hi,
    i hv a procedure to get the xml data's(values of the xml) from a clob. in a table.it works fine the parent tags but if the same tag is there for two times then i am not able to loop it because i dont know the tag name for which the loop should be run.
    to be clear.
    <root>
    <tag1>value1
    </tag1>
    <tag1>value2
    </tag1>
    </root>
    i need to run some fns for each node value so i need to loop for each node having same value pls help me to get the node name.

    You can simply alter get xml node name in loop to return a count on just the node you are looking for. Not sure why you need to know the count when you can have the logic iterate through the nodes for you, either as an XMLType or a DOMDocument (see nodelist).

  • Getting the 'name' of an XML tag

    I am trying to get the 'name' value out of an XML tag. Here is the XML that I am parsing:
    <param name="param_name">param_value</param>
    I can get the values 'param' and 'param_value' using the node.getNodeName() and the node.getNodeValue() methods.
    I need the value of "param_name" though because in the situation that I am in, this is how the node values are determined.
    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

    Hello,
    "name" is called an attribute of the "param" element. You could try to take a look at the getAttributes() function (node.getAttributes().item(0)).
    I hope it helps.

  • How to get the name and value of an attribute on a node/element that is not a child

    Hello,
    Can someone shed some wisdom on how I can compare 2 xml nodes for differences.
    My main challenge is I need to use the attributes/values of 'ProductDescription' and 'Features' as 'key' to identify the same node in
    another doc with the same layout, but different content.
    I am having trouble getting the name of the attribute on the node, 'ProductDescription' and 'Features'.  I can only seem to get the node names, but not the attributes on the node.  I need the name, because it can be different from doc to doc, so
    I can't hardcode this.
    Can someone please help with how to retrieve an attribute name/value on a node that is not a child.  Here's an example of what
    my xml looks like:
    DECLARE
    @myDoc1 xml
    ,@mydoc2 xml
    DECLARE
    @ProdID int
    SET @myDoc1 ='<ProductDescription ProductID="1" ProductName="Road Bike">
    <Features  featureID  = "1" featureName = "body">
      <Warranty>1 year parts and labor</Warranty>
      <Maintenance>3 year parts and labor extended maintenance is available</Maintenance>
    </Features>
    <features featureID = "2" featureName = "seat">
      <Warranty>1 year parts and labor</Warranty>
      <Maintenance>2 year parts and labor extended maintenance is available</Maintenance>
    </Features>
    </ProductDescription>
    SET @myDoc2 ='<ProductDescription ProductID="1" ProductName="Road Bike">
    <Features  featureID  = "1" featureName = "body">
      <Warranty>2 year parts and labor</Warranty>
      <Maintenance>3 year parts and labor extended maintenance is available</Maintenance>
    </Features>
    <features featureID = "2" featureName = "wheel">
      <Warranty>1 year parts and labor</Warranty>
      <Maintenance>2 year parts and labor extended maintenance is available</Maintenance>
    </Features>
    </ProductDescription>
    I need to compare the attributes of 'ProductDescription' and 'Features' from @mydoc1 against @mydoc2 to see if they are the same based on those 2 nodes first.  If they are, then i want to show the difference in the child elements.
    This will eventually be an outer join to give me the differences betw the 2 docs based on those key values (node attributes).
    I used node('//*') for the path, and value('local-name(../.)', 'varchar(50)') as element
    ,value('.[not(@xsi:nil = "true")]','VARCHAR(255)') AS new_value
    ...etc...
    but that only gives me the node names, and the child elements.  It does not give me back the attribute names and values from the node itself.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Are you looking for something like this:
    DECLARE @myDoc1 xml
    SET @myDoc1 ='<ProductDescription ProductID="1" ProductName="Road Bike">
    <Features  featureID  = "1" featureName = "body">
      <Warranty>1 year parts and labor</Warranty>
      <Maintenance>3 year parts and labor extended maintenance is available</Maintenance>
    </Features>
    <Features featureID = "2" featureName = "seat">
      <Warranty>1 year parts and labor</Warranty>
      <Maintenance>2 year parts and labor extended maintenance is available</Maintenance>
    </Features>
    </ProductDescription>'
    SELECT T.c.value('local-name(.)', 'nvarchar(50)') AS name,
           T.c.value('.', 'nvarchar(50)')  AS value
    FROM   @myDoc1.nodes('ProductDescription/@*') AS T(c)

  • Get file name and path from  adf inputFile

    Hi,
    I use adf's inputFile component. I need to get the file name and filePath. Does anyone knows how to do that?
    Thanks in advance

    You may bind the value to an UploadedFile object and get the name from this object.
    You may use a valueChangeListener backin bean method or a managed bean.
    Here the code i just write for something similar. Note that i'm not able to test it because of a bug in 10.1.3.1 with inputFile and web.xml parameters. I still waiting for the patch.
    public void uploadedFile(ValueChangeEvent valueChangeEvent) throws IOException,
    Exception {
    final int BUFFER = 2048;

  • How to get XML file using servlets that XI sent to my J2EE appl?

    Hi All!
    I have a scenario like XI sends xml file to j2ee application. In my J2EE application my servlet receives this xml. Will the xml file be in my HTTPServletRequest object? if so how to get that file from Request object.
    Please help me its urgent, Any code help is highly appreciated.
    My xml file will be like this:
    <ns0:Http_Message_Type_Demo
    xmlns:ns0="http://abcdemo.com">
    <Name>ABC</Name>
    <RollNo>123</RollNo>
    <Address>a-4</Address>
    </ns0:Http_Message_Type_Demo>
    somebody should help me!please
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You can use HTTPServletRequest object to get the XML payload.
    BufferedReader reader = request.getReader(); //gets XML payload
    String line = reader.readLine(); // to read the XML payload line by line
    (request is the HTTPServletRequest object)

  • Get the name of the file generated by the File Adapter

    Hello,
    I am creating XML files using the File Adapter. Each file name is unique (my_file%SEQ%.xml) and I would like to know if there is a way to get the name of the generated file so that I can sent it as an attachment in an email notification. Thanks!

    you can't get the generated filename for write operation.
    But what you can do, is to define header variable of OutboundHeader_msg type, define your own filename (based on your unique creation criteria) and then pass it to invoke activity for file creation.

  • WAD: How-to get query name and pass to URL

    Hi,
    The task: In a BI 7.0 web template - get the technical query name and use that to open a URL in the format http://<MYURL>&DOCUMENTATION=<QUERYNAME>. So:
    1) User clicks an icon
    2) Get technical name of query
    3) Open the documentation for that query using a URL
    How can this be done? Do I have to use the Custom Extension web item and implement a new class using the interface IF_BICS_CONS_WEBITEM_CUST_EXIT? If so, do you have an example of how this can be done? OR even better is there an easier way to accomplish this?

    Hi Daniel,
    you could get the query name in ABAP code, also. Here is a snippet from the execute method. The Query name should be in l_sx_view at the end.

  • Hi How to get XML file from servlet that XI sent to my J2EE appl?

    Hi All!
    I have a scenario like XI sends xml file to j2ee application. In my J2EE application my servlet receives this xml. Will the xml file be in my HTTPServletRequest object? if so how to get that file from Request object.
    Please help me its urgent, Any code help is highly appreciated.
    My xml file will be like this:
    <ns0:Http_Message_Type_Demo
    xmlns:ns0="http://abcdemo.com">
    <Name>ABC</Name>
    <RollNo>123</RollNo>
    <Address>a-4</Address>
    </ns0:Http_Message_Type_Demo>
    somebody should help me!please
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You can use HTTPServletRequest object to get the XML payload.
    BufferedReader reader = request.getReader(); //gets XML payload
    String line = reader.readLine(); // to read the XML payload line by line
    (request is the HTTPServletRequest object)

  • Reg : Getting trigger name

    Hi all,
    Is there any way to get all the TRIGGERS defined for an specific field item.
    For eg: If an Text Item has 3 triggers namely (When-Validate-Item, Key-Next-Item & Post-Text-Item).
    Programatically can we get those names ?
    Thanks & Regards,

    I know that you can export the fmb file into a xml format.
    then you have to write a procedure who scan the xml file and retrieve information about all the parts you want to analyze

    Scalar subqueries have to be wrapped in parentheses.
    Also, you probably don't want to use XMLForest in this case. XMLForest requires an alias for each argument, and generates an additional element with that name.
    Maybe something like this is more appropriate :
    SELECT XMLELEMENT("dataset"
           , XMLAttributes(
               ds.DataSet_Code AS "code"
             , ds.DataSet_Title as "title"
             , ds.pub_code as "pubcode"
             , ds.Min_Rows as "minrows"
               SELECT XMLElement("schema", XMLAttributes(fs.schema_code AS "code"))
               FROM File_Schema fs
               WHERE fr.dataset_code = ds.dataset_code
               SELECT XMLElement("rowset", XMLAttributes(fr.rowset_code AS "code"))
               FROM File_RowSet fr
               WHERE fr.dataset_code = ds.dataset_code
               SELECT XMLELEMENT("sorter"
                      , XMLAGG(
                          XMLELEMENT("field"
                          , XMLATTRIBUTES(
                              fsf.field_name AS "name"
                            , fsf.field_order AS "order"
               FROM File_sorter_field fsf
               WHERE fsf.dataset_code = ds.dataset_code
               SELECT XMLAGG(
                        XMLELEMENT("filter"
                        , XMLATTRIBUTES(
                            type AS "type"
