Getting adsl paying for infinity

we had an engineer come out today and tested our line cos we have started losing tv channels on our bt tv box the engineer said we are getting adsl speeds.
http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4096139214
so cos we are paying for bt infinity2 but getting adsl speeds my wife phone up for a refund of the difference of the price of infinity to adsl. The operator was very rude and was shouting down the phone saying you won`t be getting any refund. She asked to speak to her manager and he did exactly the same thing. Saying well you only phoned up on  so and so date so no refund.
is it law for me to check my speed daily, weekly or monthly to make sure i am getting the true speed ?
Can i terminate my contract has BT have not supplied a service i am paying for and because the rudeness of the operator has really put me off dealing with bt ?

  • Paying for Infinity 2, speed is less than advertis...

    Hi,
I am paying for Infinity 2 "Superfast Fibre" but my speed is rubbish. Reported to BT and engineer was out yesterday, tested line and everything is ok
He reckons i'm just too far from the Cabinet and would never get the speeds suggested in the ad and as below, so it looks like I am paying £5 a month just for BT Cloud.
Is best option just to contact BT and downgrade to Infinity 1 or would this slow me down even more/
Speed tests have been run over the last week at all times of day via wired connection straight into to HH3 and consistently come out at 24Mb
    Thanks
    Andy

How far from the cabinet are you. See graph for speed to distance.
Regardless of that, you are out side even the lowest speed Range B estimate.  You need to contact BT again and report that your speed is 24Mbps and your estimated speed should be between the Range A estimate of 39Mbps to 59Mbps and that you want another engineer, who is prepared to look for the fault and the reason you are not getting your estimated speed, rather than fob you of with an excuse about being to far from the cabinet.
If that was the case your estimated speed on the checker would reflect that.

  • I just want to get and pay for InDesign.....

I have downloaded inDesign for 30 days and then I ask to keep it and oay for it every month.
But I can only subscribe in Sweeden, but I'm living in Denmark!
I just want to go to a danish site, where I can pay in danish Crowns!
I got a mail from a swedish Adobe manager: Just use this link and everything will be okay. But it do not work. I still can't use InDesign!
But I receive a lot of pr mails from Sweeden - why? They even don't reply at my messages.
Is it really impossible for my to get and pay for InDesign and other???

    Hi Susanne
The country associated with your Adobe ID is Sweden rather than Denmark which is why you are directed to the Swedish site.
I've made a change in our system so please create a new Adobe ID using the same email address and select Denmark as the country.  You will then be able to purchase in Danish Krone.
    Kind regards

  • How to get a deal for infinity as an existing cust...

My contract has expired and I spoke to someone on the options phone number who offered me the BT Infinity Extra package which i said I would like for £17 a month on a 12 month contract.  Is this the best an existing customer can hope to get? And weekend calls would not be included. £3 a month extra for that.  Is there anything you can say to get them to give you a deal like new customers get?  I have my line rental paid for already for the year. Thanks

Having done this in the last month there does not appear any negotiation when upgrading to infinity. I tried a few time and always got the same offer. You got to try though

  • Hello Experts., I would like to use only Lightroom but current set up by Adobe will force me to get Photoshop along with Lightroom. Is there any way where I can get only Lightroom and pay for the same.

In the present set up by Adobe if one need Lightroom alone, they have to get and pay for Photoshop also Which I am not interested. Is there any way I can get only Lightroom.? Please help.

Just for clarity, the strict answer to your question is "no": you can't get just Lightroom for the same price as the Lr/Photoshop Creative Cloud (CC) bundle.
You can buy a stand-alone licence for Lightroom alone - that's what Don and Elie have helped you to find - but the pricing (and licencing) arrangements are entirely different to those which make up the CC bundle.
Note too, it's likely that Lightroom 6 will be coming before long (although how long is not known): you will almost certainly have to pay for the upgrade to Lr 6 if you're on a stand-alone licence, whereas moving from 5 to 6 (and to 7 and to...) is included in the price of the bundle.

  • Photographer only needs photoshop from cloud. Why pay for other apps as well ?

Is it possible to get and pay for only one app in creative cloud ? It doesn't seem to be a smart idea for people like me that are photographers and NOT graphic designers , etc. I only need photoshop. Why pay the price for 25 other apps of I will never use them nor have any interest in opening anything EXCEPT photoshop??

Even if you will use just PS, you need Bridge at some point for managing images ... and Bridge is now separate in CC.
I think that Adobe wants to use the popularity of PS for other applications (especially for some web applications according to me) ... and creates an illusion by pricing policy for forcing customers to subscribe for all.
Subscriber number may be a success for now, but Adobe hurted the loyalty of some customers who use PS for a long time ...
And, I think that Adobe created a huge number of customers who will escape from Adobe at the first occasion.
In my thoughts, CC model was a great oppurtunity for making new loyal customers in addition to the present ones ... but Adobe choosen the other way.
Adobe may right for now, but the customers are always right in the long run.

  • Paying for BT Infinity but still getting ADSL conn...

Since I've upgraded to BT Infinity from Total  Broadband, there has been no change in connection or download speeds (even when ethernet cable is plugged in) - now I know why. I am clearly not connected to BT Infinity. I'll tell you how I know. Today my internet went down. I clicked on BT Desktop Help who said I wasn't connected and sent me to the BT Home Hub Manager page:
    http://bthomehub.home/index.cgi?active_page=9142&active_page_str=page_interception&req_mode=0&mimic_...
Just in case link doesn't work, the basic 'wordage' is below:

    ADSL or Ethernet
To help us diagnose the problem please select the
type of Broadband connection you have.

                        equipment and it plugs
                        into the BT Infinity port
                        on my BT Home Hub."
Naturally, I clicked on 'BT Infinity Connection'. I tried several times as it was 'trying to connect'. I waited up to half an hour each time to no avail. NB - I was told 'this will take a few minutes' each time.
Just out of curiousity, I clicked on 'ADSL connection' --- it connected to the internet straight away!
I conclude that I am NOT connected to "Openreach equipment that plugs into the BT Infinity port on my BT Home Hub". (BT Home Hub 3 that is!).
It looks like I haven't been upgraded at all.
I'm paying for BT Infinity, so why am I not getting it??

Sorry, just to clarify you have the white modem from Dave's picture?
But the Red cable is going to the ADSL port on the HomeHub 3 and not the Infinity port? If so try putting it into the Infinity port and see if you can connect (I'm guessing it will be no). If that doesn't work just switch it back then contact the moderators.

In all seriousness, I just moved from 50mb Virgin (reliability issues and bad customer services) and went back to BT, but this time getting Infinity rather than regular ADSL. Figures immediately after the installation this morning were 20mb download and 8mb upload. Please tell me it gets better than 50% of what I am paying for. The engineer just went on about distance from the exchange blah blah blah.
I logged a fault on 150, but that doesnt fill me with confidence.
What is BT's minimum QOS for Infinity?

    cherkhan wrote:
Why do you say that? Lots of people are getting significantly less than the 40Mb as advertised. A slight problem and boom, down it goes and BT do nothing to assist as it is above the 12Mb set as minimum.
This has nothing to do with any argument above, but the only adverts I have seen quite clearly state:
BT offers two types of broadband
BT BroadbandUp to 20Mb speed (ADSL Broadband)
BT InfinityUp to 40Mb speed (Fibre Broadband)
They both quote clearly " UP TO".
I will agree with you that they should certainly do a lottttttt more to assist users who were recieving a certain speed and over time or suddenly are experiencing speed troubles

What i do not understand is BE broadband say that i could get approx 16mb from my line. So is BT throttling my connection ? Over subscribed ?
I have done a check based on post code for my exchange and it states that it can support adsl2+
Can someone explain or check to see this is the maximum i can expect.

Are you seriously? Only 20 mb?? And you are getting 6 mb from them??? In my country there is no such thing as 20 mb broadband... Minimum 100 mb! And it is very cheap! In UK you must pay about 30 pounds/month for 18 months and you will get this **bleep** and in my country you would pay only about 10 pound/month with no contracts and you will get from 100 mb download speed!
No, really... It is UK! It is very developed country, but broadband... Even Africa has that kind of broadband... I really dissapointed about that I will never understand why it is so hard to you to make better broadband. Offer to some companies in my country to do that job! They will do that with pleasure! And after a half an year you will see a huge changes.

  • Not getting the speeds that I am paying for!

    Hi,
I've been on BT infinity option 2 for a couple of years now, and recently (A couple of months back) I started a new contract and upgraded my BT Hub (3) to BT Hub (5) and I recently noticed that I have been receiving shockingly slow internet compared to what I am paying for: I am currently getting around about 20-30 mb down and 5-9 up (according to bt speed checker and speedtest.net) when I should be recieving 70-80 mb down and 19-20 up. I called BT up and they said they'll send an engineer, but he didn't come and I really can not be bothered to call again, because this isn't the first time their engineers skipped the appointment. I still have faith in BT over Virgin and other providers. Does anybody know a way I can fix this?

  • Not getting what I pay for

Ok, so ever since I came to BT my broadband speeds have plumeted.
I see many of you complaining for 2000kbps well try being capped at 350kbps.
Why is the exchange throttling my speed to such an extent, when I was with talktalk, one phone call, they put me on the highest priority profile, this made me get 10x the speed im getting now with no stability issues.
So if I'm paying for BT Unlimited, which im sure most of you know isn't exactly cheap, then I want better speeds.
Before anybody gives me the link to the speed wizard or the sticky above, ive gone through all of them and none of them worked up helped, some actually made it worst.
At 30KB/s I can't even watch a youtube video, can't go on any of my online games or download any applications.
It even takes me a good few minutes just to recieve my emails!
Im sorry but if I got better speeds for £5 a month on talktalk, if im paying 6x that now, then why is it 10x worst?

your down attenuation shows you are on a long line from the exchange probably about 5km line length.  the kitz speedchecker shows you are getting a good connection for your line length and even an LLU would only be slightly higher than you are getting http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php

  • Paying for ADSL2+, but receiving ADSL.

Hi. I pay for ADSL 2+ speeds, but I receive ADSL. I only found this out recently. I was suspicious at first since my internet speeds can get frustratingly slow (below 10 kilobytes per second at times), but I played it off as my location (6km away from an exchange, based on www.adsl2exchanges.com ). I had a call to Telstra, but I was told that my internet speeds were within their ranges (I am beginning to believe that it was within the ADSL range). Here is my speedtest result (in kilobytes. This is one of the better days):  Anyway, recently I found that my router site was different, and I did some looking around to find that 'lo and behold; my connection speed was ADSL.  How can I troubleshoot this? More calls to Telstra? I'm not sure what to do. Thank you, all.

I have just moved house 4 streets in Balwyn. Previous house used IINET ADSL and received approx 6.8MPS download and extremely reliable (very rare drop outs). New house is nearer Canterbury exchange using Telstra Bigbond "Fast" ADSL. Only receiving 4.5MPS with many 3-5 minute dropouts during the course of a day. Today I have changed configuration from "Standard" to "Noise Profile 1". So far no drop outs but speed is now a dismal 3.36 MPS - half the speed of IINET but nearer the exchange. To call this "FAST" ADSL is a joke !!!!!!

  • All I ask is that I get what I'm PAYING for, please........

First of all, let me start by saying I'll be very surprised if this actually gets posted.  Took about 10 mins just to get to this point.  Funny how of all sites, Verizon's load the slowest.  You'd think they'd take extra measures to make this a better experience than getting asked over & over to log in after you already did, then it takes minutes (instead of seconds) just to load a page that needs another page that needs another page...
Here is my deal with Verizon.  I've been a many-years customer of both home phone & DSL.  Up until the last couple months I've had some issues, nothing that couldn't be resolved, but for the last couple months my internet is so slow it's like being back on dialup, ugh..  About 10 days ago I finally got fed up enough to give them a call.
Something I need to say first, about out-sourcing.  I'm not a fan of it but I understand to an extent why it's being done.  All I ask for though is that when I do talk to someone I can at least understand what they are saying to me.  That's really important to me, I'm sure it's important to you as well.  When I say "you people" I mean Verizon people, I'm not referring to anyone's race, color, etc., etc.,...
OK...so I call them up & 1st guy is "DJ" he said that was what to call him since after 3 tries I still couldn't pronounce his name correctly.  I could understand him for the most part & I really do believe he tried his best to help me with my problem.  I was on the phone with DJ for I dunno, an hour, maybe hour & 1/2.
Looking back on it, I don't think he was the best informed person, I don't think any of them were.  We talked & I let him access not only my 2 yr old desktop but my precious not even 5 month old laptop.  We tried this, this, that, that.....it was just a big run around IMO.  DJ dumped my temp internet files, cookies, blah blah blah.......same on laptop.  Finally, after all the time on the phone he did exactly what I knew would happen.  He opened up my gateway page & said "see where it says you're getting this speed, etc?  That's what you're getting."   I don't care what that page says, I'm not getting what I'm paying for!
Due to the crappy service I've been getting I do speed tests daily & do them several times per day.  I use speedtest.net & also internetfrog.com as well as a couple others if I need them.  What amazes me is that after running me around on the phone for well over an hour, they wind up opening my gate page & then blame me, my 2 computers, my ability to see there's a real problem here.  I was asked to subscribe to a "professional tech service" of some sorts at $14.99 a month & was then told that's all that could be done for me.  I was then transferred to the so-called supervisor who was nothing short of RUDE, I was happy to finally end my call.  The next day a woman called, I could barely understand a word she was saying so I told her I wasn't up to talking & hung up.
Call me **bleep**  but I decided to "upgrade" my service.  It said for 6 months I'd get a $10 rate reduction (which is cheaper than my current pkg) and I figured I'd at the very least, get better than what I was getting for only a few bucks more.  WRONG!!  They kicked in my new "better" pkg last night.  I do get better speed test results but only at "non-peak" times & even then, they are sketchy.
I haven't done a ton of reading as of yet but so far my impression is they're over loading the hubs in my area, too bad for me.  My speed tests are no better now than what they were before I "upgraded" my service.  A good example is this...it took 25 mins to download a 20 mb file...tried on both computers & it was the same for each of them.  If I had just one computer then sure, maybe I'd blame it on that.  I have a 2 yr old desktop with XP that has never given me any problems, I do my scans & keep things running smooth.  My laptop has W7 & isn't even  5 months old.  You can't tell me that both are simply "screwed up" and need professional help when I know **bleep** well it's not on my part but is on Verizon's!
I am stuck with Verizon due to where I live, what options are actually available at this time.  All I am asking for is that I am given what I'm paying for, what they say they're willing to provide.  I do not appreciate all the running around, the bad accents with less than understand spoken words of what they consider to be "english"....I can't understand wtf they're saying to me!  So frustrating, it really is. *sigh*
Sorry for the rambling but if you've read this far I think you're in the same boat I am.  They used to be a company I truly did admire, now I'm just wondering how to dump them.  I'm very sad about this, I can't count on Verizon any longer to be reliable & more important...that they care other than me paying my bill.  ~Laurie

I could have written this EXACT same message - down tot he "upgrading my service" for less money than I was currently paying, I figured, it couldn't hurt, right?
    wrong
The CS guy told me that my wirespeed modem was still "the best they had"  (which is a joke as I don't even think they offer this anymore.
At least now, I am paying for 1.5mbps and I'm not getting it.  They WILL refund this money every month until I get something.  I'm simply not going to pay it anymore.

  • I recently upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.2 and Aperture 2.1.4 will no longer open.  I cannot access my photos and I don't want to pay for latest version of Aperture since this application is no longer going to be supported.  How can I get my pictures?

If you want just the originals, then you can go into the Aperture library (right click on it and do "show package contents"). Inside is a directory called "Masters" and you can find the original files in a bunch of subfolders.
But... you'll lose all adjustments, keywords, and other information, and just have the files as they were imported originally from the cameras.
Easiest is probably to buy Aperture and update everything, and then migrate to the Photos application down the road if that's what you want. Aperture 3.0 came out in 2010 (five years ago!) so it's not like you've upgraded in a while
